[Completed] Z3C is "sleepy" (no immediate notifications) - XDA Assist

Hi there,
I recently got a Z3C and rooted it, then upgraded back to 23.4.A.0.546. I removed some apps that I dislike with Root App Deleter and installed my other favorite apps, including AdAway.
Now, the issue I experienced since the first boot is that all apps are not receiving notifications in real time, I have to open the app to "stimulate" it to fetch stuff.
So for example if my phone is in stand-by and I don't turn it on, no WhatsApp messages are received. I actually think I receive nothing until I open the app itself, and also when I am writing, it seems like the app is having troubles at getting online and delivering as it shows a waiting mini-icon on messages instead of instantly delivering them.
I am pretty sure this is not due to the rooting, maybe AdAway could be involved, but it's probably something that changed from Android 4.4 to 5.1, as I had same set of apps on 4.4 without problems.
I checked that apps are allowed background traffic, and they are. I also get this problem on either HDSPA or wifi.
Any thoughts/ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
Sorry to hear about your trouble but fortunately there is an XDA area dedicated to the Sony Xperia Z3 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3 . I suggest you post your question with all relevant details in the friendly Q&A forum there at http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/help where the experts familiar with your device will be best able to guide you. Note that AdAway is extremely unlikely to have anything to do with your problem since it's only active while updating its source files as explained in the AdAway thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2190753.
Good Luck!

[Q] Prevent Open Application? Android

Hi, I'm new here so I hope I posted this in the correct section (almost positive I did).
Besides that, I was wondering if there is an app in the android market or around the internet that prevents an app from being opened without my permission? I'm an launcher-obsessive kind I'd person and they very often at random start up without my permission (Note: I don't mean it sends me into the launcher, it simply randomly starts up, as I noticed via Home Manager). Please note my phone is not rooted (yes, seriously ) and running Android Gingerbread 2.3.4.
Thanks!

[Completed] Huawei P8 and issues with stock email app

Hi Guys
Just recently purchased a P8 here in New Zealand and so far its pretty good.
The issue im having is with the stock email app (Emiui 3.1) and push notifications. It would seem that the stock mail app is being killed off when the screen turns off hereby stopping all email notifications until you turn the screen on and open the app again.
There is a feature in this OS called "protected apps" which allows you to do this on an app by app basis. Obviously I want it turned on in here so it dosent get killed off, except its not available.
I get around it with bluemail but the stock app is actually very nice looking and much faster than third party ones ive tried so would love to get it working. Does anyone else have this phone and run into this? I haven't been able to find much online as its not the most popular device at the moment.
p.s. would be great if this could be moved into the p8 forum, I cant post there yet as my count is too low but its probably the only thread im going to get some help in.
update
Ok so I have found that its possible to set exchange accounts to automatic(push) but not IMAP.
Im guessing this is just a missing feature of the emiui 3.1 stock app. Anyone running this software thats run into this? I have confirmed its the same on P8 Lite.

[Completed] Customizing Cubot X9's rom(replacing apps issues)

Hello everyone
i think this is my first post or one of the first on this forum, i'm a videogame modder(vice-boss at VStanced.com) who for fun also mods/dismounts/analyzes everything that slips in his hands(like, seriously every single thing). I have a semi-good knowledge of java and from some years i'm learning more and more about android, yet(as you can see) i still need help from time to time to figure out some stuff.
So, enough of presentation, time to talk about what i came here for.
I've been gifted a Cubot X9 some days ago, so the first thing i did was rooting(Kingroot -> Supersu-me) and applying a custom recovery(TWRP), i backed up rom and nvram with sp flash tool and the base rom(just rooted and recovery-ed) from recovery to make sure that in case i f**kd up something i could restore it without issues.
After that i restored all the additional apps and a couple gapps(Google Play Store, Google Play Services, Google Account Manager, Google Latin Keyboard) from a backup(Titanium Backup) of my old phone, a LG P990(Optimus Dual/X2/Star/Speed) and it all worked straight at first try. As soon as i finished restoring these i got myself a new recovery backup to prevent having to redo everything once again.
At the moment there are still 4 things that "bother" me, i've not been able to install Dialer, Contacts and Messaging apps from that same backup(they're a lot more comfortable than Cubot's original ones) because they just f**k up the whole thing, after a restart(either with or without cache/dalvik cleanup) System starts flickering/turning on and off and with it the background and the SIM control(it stop receiving any signal/recognizing the sim and wont allow me to open the sim selector/editor - for dual sim mode).
I've installed the first two apps(Dialer and Contacts) flawlessly with a root explorer(ES file explorer) and after deleting all odex files related to the old apps they worked well, cant say the same for Messaging(Mms.apk), it works but as soon as i press either on a received message, on the "new message" button or on "setup" it crashes to desktop.
Moreover, i'm not able to install the data backup(i'm mainly interested in contacts and messages but also the calls history) from Titanium Backup otherwise i'll get those issues i said above.
Mind both phones are 4.4.4 and so are their apps, on the LG P990 i had installed Slimroms' Slimkat but those apps i named should all be stock Google KitKat's ones(correct me if i'm wrong) and thus should work 1:1 on any 4.4.4 OS. Should.
You may ask me why i dont simply use google's backup system, so here's the answer, it is because i just dislike uploading my personal data and i honestly prefer figuring out how to do stuff manually.
I tried moving the *.db files from the old phone but they either cause to not show any messages(mmssms.db) or to not receive signal/not recognize the sim(telephony.db).
I have also installed an app called WAPPushManager.apk(com.android.smspush) from the old phone because i thought it could be somehow connected with the crash from clicking on the new message button but nothing changed.
So now i'm kinda lost, i have no clue if i'm missing to delete/add some files, or replace/add some apps.
Here's a few pics of the apps of which i'm speaking
I hope someone will be able to help me out on this, thanks a lot everyone for even bothering reading all this drama. hahaha
Also, yeah, you noticed well, i said that there are 4 things that bother me but i talked only about 3 things so here's the 4th:
this is more like a random question than a real issue or anything else(since i didnt even try yet). I would like to get the system bar and options/setup menu from the old phone(LG P990 Slimkat) to the new one(Cubot X9) but i have no clue if it is doable or not and what it eventually implies.
I'm looking forward for some magic to happen, thanks again

Alright, i've been able to transfer all my contacts, calls and messages using an app called Super Backup, it did the trick quite quickly.
I still cant figure out why the Mms.apk wont work, i sent it over to a couple friends and all of them installed and used it right away. I am now almost sure the Cubot wont work correctly with it because it's dual-sim... in case there's anything(scripting wise) that can be done to make it work properly?
Well i kinda solved all my problems, for some reason that app just dont want to work on this phone, i downloaded another "kitkat 4.4 stock messaging app" from google play and it worked straight on... or almost, because for some reason that Super Backup program was messing my messages in a way that i had two threads for each person, one with sent and the other with received messages. Analyzing the *.xml file created by that tool i realized that it was using spaces between the numbers only for either received or sent messages(i didnt bother checking which of the two was it).
A basic example:
<sms address="+391234567890" time="22/gen/2016 09:18:58" date="1453450738028" type="1" body="THIS IS MY TEXT" read="1" service_center="+291234567890" name="" />
versus
<sms address="+39 123 45 67 890" time="22/gen/2016 09:18:58" date="1453450738028" type="1" body="THIS IS MY TEXT" read="1" service_center="+29 123 45 67 890" name="" />

It made so that the phone recognized those as different numbers and thus create the issue i said above.
I hope this little self-research thread will help someone else too in the future, thanks for reading.

Help-Tablet extremely slow and unresponsive problems

Tablet extremely slow and unresponsive, it has developed problems over time. I'm thinking factory reset won't fix the problem (will only delete personal data and apps) and also may unroot it?
Acer iconia one 8 b1-810_2cbw_316t Rooted but I didn't install a ROM, it's still running Android 4.4 (Jelly Bean)
-Randomly turns off instead of going to the screensaver
-Generally extremely slow
-Every time I turn on the tablet I have to reenter the wifi password for some reason
-When I download a new app and open it it will say 'this app has stopped'
-I cant use browser (chrome) because it takes too long to load pages.
I've tried:
- Running AVG antivirus and malware bytes scans which has not shown any problems.
-Running CCleaner to remove junk files and unnecessary files/apks.
Any ideas? Should I look up how to make a backup with TWRP?

I don't have this device but, you may be able to obtain some member guidance within the following area of the forum that's specific to your device.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/iconia-one-8
This is a very low activity device though, I noticed that there may be an Android 5.1 update for this device. Also, I saw a thread on Debloating it as well.
Good Luck!

OnePlus (Android) log report?

[SOLVED]
Hey XDA community,
I was wondering, if OnePlus (or Android in general) have some sort of log of apps running in system. I mean, not only apps but whole proccesses, errors and everything that's running in background. This question came to my mind because of being unable to connect to my OpenVPN server (see my post here https://forums.openvpn.net/viewtopic.php?t=34624). Now, I was able to connect to OpenVPN server before rooting my device. After rooting, i can only connect to Blokada 5 which acts as adblock on non-rooted devices (via VPN). The thing is, i can only see one VPN service in system settings-VPN (before rooting, there was Blokada 5 and OpenVPN). The exact issue of what is going on is captured via screen recording and it's posted in topic mentioned in the link.
I understand that this forum (and OnePlus 8T specific) isn't aimed for solving such an exact issue, so my question is if Android systems have built-in logging mechanism which i can access in realtime or as an exported file. I am rooted so there should be some hope for understanding of what is going on.
I hope I made myself clear, my English isn't best and I partially use the DeepL translator to choose the right words. But if you check that topic I've made, you will understand what's my point that I'm trying to solve.

I don't know the exact cause of the problem in your case, but it may be a conflict of Blokada5 and OpenVPN apps as they both use vpn or OOS12 issue.
If you have root you can view android logs with Logcat. Maybe it'll help you to resolve your issue.
Thank you for the tip with Logcat. I would say it didn't help me, although i saw some errors . By the way, I tried what seemed like most logical solution, and that was uninstalling Blokada 5 (and also OpenVPN) and then installing only OpenVPN. Finally, after reading instruction message, the system asked me about allowing to create VPN profile which I did and after that i installed Blokada 5 again and now both apps works together. I can switch between one and another without any problems. So i solved this problem by myself i guess. To be fair, without your point of view I wouldn't try to uninstall in the first place, so... Thank you
