Known Hardware Problems & Issues - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys! what should I look out for after I finally get my S6 before the return window closes? Mainly on the hardware side as there is always the chance that the software gets fixed.

Alright guys! Lets start trouble shooting. i just got my S6 in topaz blue(MAYBE THIS IS IMPORTANT HERE as in: -> it's a lighter colour). and immediately i noticed a few bad bad things.
The softkeys do not light pure white but more of a beige hue(dirty white).Additionaly!! The silhouette of the lit light is shifted two times within the glass. What I mean is, that the conture of the lit softkey button can also be seen right above and below the normal place where the softkey lights up... so if it is lit I can see the symbol a total of three times. Depending on the angle of view on of the reflections(?) within the glass disappear. The notification LED has also the same kind of light shifting effect
The whole Metal-Bezel on the front feels quite sharp in comparision to the back side of it.
The Display has a slight green hue at the bottom of the display(almost the same color of the phone)
I am able to see iregularitys in the colour layer of the bezel beneath the glass on the top part of the phone. this can only be seen if a lightsource shines on it.
And lastly: OMG is the phone slippery! I think this comes from the fact the the only part which gives the phone hold on the side opposite the palm is the small edge side(opposed to the end of the bezel + a rounded back cover of some phones(Lg G2... so good to hold)).

[Q] Display filtering light under soft touch buttons...normal?

Hi to all again!
I just wanted to ask you a question about the display light: in a dark room, when you turn on the display and the soft touch buttons will turn on too, I notice a little bit of filtering light in the thin "junction" between the glass and the thin "glass border" of the display...only in correspondance with soft touch lights...
This can be noticed if you look at the phone "from above", I mean not in front of it, but if looked from top to bottom...I just can't take good photos, 'cause there's a very little filtering light...but here's a try, just to let you understand where's the right place, see the attached photo...
Is that normal?
Normal? No. It's a minor build defect. Will they do something? I doubt it. =/
Hmm...I don't know if I have to send it back for this...but I'M afraid that another one can have another problem...
I have a Grey version...
It's hard to compare with your picture, but I can see some light shining from the edges of my phone too. A thing which bothers me a bit more is that the light from the capacitive buttons shines trough on the screen, so it isn't completely black at the bottom

On my phone is only on a part of the thin line (the "connection" between the real display glass and the "border" glass) below the soft touch button...you can notice it only in dark rooms obviously, when the soft button light is on.
GLUE Strip
the display is glued to the glass as I read on engadget.com. I assume at this point there is no glue there. Fixing will make it worst. I would say live with it

Then yes I have the same, but I also see it on the top edge when viewing web pages or something white.

I think I'll go that way after all...I just don't want to imagine turn back to "the waiting game (from one to another)"...
A sort of bad luck has taken me perhaps...I've found a stuck pixel in the top middle part of the display...seen only with grey gradients or with some other colors, invisible with clear black and clear white colors...

Poor Screen Uniformity

Anyone else have any issues in regards to the screen?
I can look past the horrible refresh rate/ghosting, but this is really bugging me, amongst other things.
It seems the bottom half, mainly in the left corner, is quite a bit brighter than the top, making it seem more yellow, and the top a darkish pink hue.
The bottom corners also have very noticeable light bleed strip down the sides, which is noticeable on any screen/colour. It's like a small bright 3mm or so wide strip each side.
Half way up theres also a mark that separates where the brighter part of the screen starts/ends, so I'm wondering if someone dented the back of the panel when assembling it in the factory?
Either way I've requested a replacement, I'm just more curious to see if it's a common problem or not. Ghosting aside, the screen itself is quite stunning to look at, especially with a bit of ambient light in the room.

i didn't get your question, but if it is that i have any issues in regards to the screen? then no, i think it's stunning...
I also have the light bleed in the corners but it's only really noticeable on the bottom of the right bezel (in portrait). The light bleed looks like a strip on bright white light running up the right hand bezel before stopping about a third of the way up.
This is my second z3 and I'm contemplating whether to bother with another replacement or just return it altogether. Can't say I've been won over by the phone so far...I may just go for the note 4 instead...

In-Display frame and a spot

Hi everyone.
Just got my new S6 (non edge) today. While I'm installing my apps by sitting in the garden, the sun shines directly to the display and I saw just two things I can not recognize.
Around the display is a frame inside, which is showing up, when there is a white background in a lighten environment where the auto brightness is setting up to a maximum . Its hard to photograph, but I tried it. The "zebra-look/stripes" are from taking the photo, its not present on the display.
After that I saw a spot on the upper side in the middle of the display, too.
Anyone else? Or is this no problem? Doesn't looks nice when the sun is shining and you are using the phone...

My phone has the same thing when in direct sunlight showing a white image I can see what looks kind of like a faint black border on the edge like in your bottom left corner picture.
I literally just saw this when I was outside today, fortunately I was not able to see it inside or under normal lighting conditions. It's most likely a shadow of sorts from light reflecting inside the display assembly. I don't think it's a big deal tbh.
Yeah quite possibly a shadow of the assembly. My fingers make shadows on the screen in direct sunlight unlike any phone I've seen before.
If you look hard enough, it looks like a G.
Its rhe panel in behind the screen guys

Backlight bleeding

I got my Mi4C a few days ago and like it very much so far, but noticed some backlight bleeding.
It´s only visible on grey background (AdAway or Fire TV app) so i don´t know if my device is broken or not.
Adding a picture for example below but i have to say that in reality its less visible than on the picture.
Please look at the right and left edges.
How about your Mi4C?
Basically just want to know if its faulty and i should get a new one or maybe "Bad construction design" by xiaomi? Now i notice it almost everywhere btw
What exactly is the issue? You mean that the screen is bright at the edges? I think mine is a bit too but it's hard to notice. Can you provide more photos?
My backlight is visable at extreme angels so i think it is just the Sharp display used. It is not the highest quality of components.
I have some light bleed on the top, only visible with a status bar color other than black or white, so kind of a non issue for me
@Ydraulikos
Yes, thats exactly what i mean. The edges of the screen are brighter. Especially the edge marked yellow on the picture.
The other ones are only visible if you look hard for it.

Note10+ (Top screen gap / space)

Hello,
Received my Note10+ yesterday, so far love the device.
I just noticed today (this morning) on bright sun / light a gap of couple of millimeters on top of the screen.
Looks like screen is not going to the edge on top side only, is this normal?

Please see image for better view / understanding.
Thanks
that gap is for the sensors and speaker
Thank you very much for your time and responding to this thread.
I am a little bit confused, isnt the speaker at the bottom?
I had Samsung S10+ until yesterday, and i do not remember seeing gap like this (its not the same phone, but, probably similar design / i might be wrong though).
Thank you
The gap in the middle 2 arrows are the cut out for the front speaker the other gaps are where the screen meets the frame sometime there bigger on different phones its hut and miss
But if it bothers you exchange it for one that fits a bit better
Thank you very much for responding.
I think i have 15 days to replace / return the phone (i will re-check), but, if its kinda normal, and possible on any other phone, even replacement, i do not think its wise to do it.
Once i put case on, i do not even think it will be that visible (hardly visible now as well if not on bright light).
Biggest concern if this would affect IP68 in anyway
Thanks

I think there is a way you can test the ip rating without obviously putting it in water
Back when I had the xperia phones you could squeeze the device and check the pressure didn't rise and stay risen to indicate its water tight
Thank you again for your time.
I decided to test that gap by pouring water on it for about 20-30 seconds, no issues at all.
I will not bother with this, will just enjoy the phone.
Thanks again.
The picture link is not working. From my understanding the only small gap should be in the center where the top speaker hole is. But the left and right side of the top speaker till the corner should not have any gap. I am having the same issue. I'm going to check to see if other models are like that.
Same, should not be there.
In the end i decided to return the phone.
Upon closer inspections took some photos and judging by other demo units on display. They all have that white line gap. Some are more noticable than others. But same line can be seen. I compared 3 different phones from different stores. They all exist. It's seems like that white line looks like maybe it's the adhesive glue. The middle does not have it where the ear speaker cutout is, where the ear speaker hole ends on both side left and right white line is visible because of the extra gap on both sides and it appears that the line stops before the corner on each side of the glass on the top. It's maybe nitpicking buts it's really annoying. I checked on the S10 it's not present on that model and none I see on the Note 9 too. I checked. And since it's like white color can be visible inside the small gap line on the top where the glass meets up with the metal frame.
I actually just discovered that I can get a piece of paper down between the top of the screen and the frame on my Note 10 +!!!??? All along the top of the glass - from the top left corner to the right?
Is this what you are talking about? And will the phone still be waterproof? (There could still be a rubber membrane that prevents water from entering the insides of the phone...)
