It's a 2A Quickcharge 1.0 unit. Quickcharge boosts the voltage (to ~9v from 5v) when the phone is less than 50%, so you can't get just ANY 2 amp charger and expect it to work as quickly.
If you care (or are willing to wait) Quickcharge 2.0 wall plugs should ship in ~2 months. That boosts the input to 15 volts (IIRC) and will supposedly charge from 0% to 100% in about 45 minutes.
yeah I guess I can wait. I can always keep an old 1a plug by the bed for long overnight charges.
Does samsung sell oem chargers at release date?

For some unknown reason, I have a 2.1 amp car charger and cheap 1 amp ac charger. My HTC One M7 charge slow but the Note 4 charge much faster using the same charging device. I dont know what it is, but I like it!
So the charger on Samsung's website is not the same one that came with the Note 4?

Not sure it has anything to do with the Fast Charging hardware. The Fast Charging works with the provided charger, which is a dual voltage one. I used my iPhone's/iPad's car charger with my Note 4 and didn't notice a speed-up in charging time.
On a tangential note: I can't find anyone who sells the Note's fast charger separately yet and I needed another one for use with the Note 4 at the office. So I used the Asus charger that came with my original 3G Nexus 7 (which remains forgotten on a shelf). It works pretty well. I noticed that the Asus charger charged all my handsets (HTC One M8, Nexus 5, Z2, Oppo Find 7) pretty reliably -- the M8 and Nexus 5 seemed to charge faster compared with their stock chargers.
Anyone who's held the Asus charger knows it's a little bit bulkier and a few ounces weightier than the usual chargers that come with smartphones these days so there may be a hardware component to it. Whatever it is, it's probably the best standalone charger I've had the cables connect via a USB port so you can use it with your iPhone too.
If you can find at a garage sale or some random tech shop, you should pick one up. Works great with everything.

Has anyone tried to charge the Note 3 with a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 charger and does it charge significantly faster?
The reason I ask is that our phone's processor, Snapdragon 800, is listed as supporting Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0:

The technology works by ramping up the charging voltage when the battery is low, and slowly reducing voltage as the battery fills up.
This is exactly the same technology which the Note 4 uses and dubs "Adaptive Fast Charging".
The latest Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 chargers charge at:
12V * 1.5A = 18W
9V * 2A = 18W
5V * 2A = 10W
(voltage is reduced as battery charges up).
You can see the voltage/amperage of the charger written somewhere on the charger.
Chargers that are 5V/2A only (e.g. stock charger) are not quick charge 2.0.
This is not to be confused with USB 3.0 charging (which is only ~5V * 1A = 5W from PC), or 2A chargers (5V * 2A = 10W from 0 to 100%).
Our Note 3's chipset supports this, but it won't be very surprising if Samsung disables this on the firmware or kernel level.
If anyone has tried charging the Note 3 with a QC 2.0 charger, your input is much appreciated!
I haven't used that charger, but I've been charging at nothing but 2A for quite some time (via kernel settings). It seems like it charges up pretty damn fast, and I haven't noticed any ill-effects from it....
Note 4 charged with quick charge, discharges faster too, so I think it's useless if the battery life decreases.
Maybe it's a problem of the note 4, but I don't think so.

It charges at double speed at <80% (or similar, varies depending on when it throttles to 5W/2A).
Essentially, you can charge up to 60-80% within half hour, as advertised by Qualcomm.
That's extremely useful if you simply want to add 30% to your battery life with 15 minutes of charging before leaving the house, etc.
The difference is more obvious with half hour: 50-60% charge versus 20-30%.

Checked with a multimeter, maximum I can reach is 5V on a Note 4 charger even I am charging from 10% and screen off
Samsung disabled this. Didn't try on 5.0 anyway.

To my knowledge, the Note 4 charger is not a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 charger.
It is a Samsung-proprietary variant for the Note 4 only, and unlike other QC 2.0 chargers only toggles between 5/9V instead of 5/9/12V.
Note 4 however does support the Quick Charge 2.0 standard as well.
Please do correct me if I'm mistaken.

Yep, but the Note 4 charger's adaptive charging is proprietary and restricted to Samsung's Note 4 - it's not a Quick Charge 2.0 charger AFAIK.
Anyone actually tried charging the Note 3 with a Quick Charge 2.0 charger?

Fast Adaptive charger comes with galaxy s6 i tried this charger on my note 3 but fast charging is not work on note 3 and this charger is intelligent itself to deliver required amount of current to mobile my phone charged simple on 1200mAh to 1800mAh regular current delivered to Note 3 by Fast Adaptive charger when i put it on s6 it automatically detect it and on fast adaptive chrging it gives 9V ,1.97A to maintain high speed charging but not on Note 3

Years later, I've tried my Nexus 6's FastCharge 2.0 AC adapter and it charges significantly faster.
Doesn't charge any faster on stock firmware, checked using ampere , charges at the normal 1200mah with screen on which I believe is the max with the screen on surely there is someway to unlock it

The ampere app shows my Note 3 charge at a 1.8A from normal 1.2A steady flow, this is with Qualcomm 2.0 QCharge... It is probably the max rate for the device.. It is fast, especially within the lower band of the battery capacity.
With Qualcomm QuickCharge 2.0 the voltage does not ramp down, only the current does. The whole point of QC is to overcome the resistance inherent in many micro-USB cables, and that's done by boosting the voltage. My Note 4 charges at 5V/1.7(ish) amps on a non-QC charger, and 9.4V at the same current on a QC 2.0 charger, and that voltage is maintained throughout the charge with the current ramping down.
My girlfriend's Note 3 does not charge at increased voltage on my QC 2.0 charger. It just does 5V charging.
Measurements were made at the output of the charger with a USB digital multimeter.

I haven't had any problems with battery life on my Note 4, and I quick charge mine frequently. Must be a problem with YOUR Note 4.
My adapter is 9v 2a and i can say it charger significately faster. Alot faster.
Stock charger takes anywhere between 3-6 hours where as mine takes 2-3 hours max.
I have got a replacement battery(chinese one) but is equivalent to the stock samsung battery.
Also i am using a ported rom from the s7 edge so fast charging could possibly be enabled within the kernel especially if the cpu supports it

When it's connected the red cross on the battery pops up (this usually happens when a low power charger is used)
Does this happen to you too or have I a broken charger?

No problems for me. I am using it to charge my Sony tablet-z with no problems.

My Note 4 charger charges my Nexus 10 without issues.
The Note 4's charger works on my Note 10.1 2014 ed. It obviously doesn't fast charge my tablet though.
The charger is SUPPOSED to act as a 9V charger when connected to Fast Charge devices like the Note 4, but also act as a 5V charger for any other device. If the device can't use the full 5V (like a phone that only uses 2V or something), the device itself will only draw as much power as it can accept under 5V (2V for example).
If your charger isn't charging your Note 10.1, then the charger could be bad, or maybe even your tablet's charging port. If the tablet charges with other chargers, then I doubt it's the latter.

I get the same thing. I have a note 10.1 and using my note 4's adaptive charger with the note 10.1 charge cable I get the dreaded red x -- meaning super slow charge. All items are in perfect working order (doesn't happen with other 2 amp non-adaptive charging chargers).

So, from my understanding, the OEM Samsung fast charger for the Galaxy S6 is 5 volts 2 amps. I recently bought an Anker Elite Dual Port wall adapter, which is capable of 5 volts, and up to 2.4 amps if pulled per port.
When I plug in my phone to a standard OEM adapter, it says it is fast charging, and something a long the lines of 1 hour and 30 minutes until fully charged, but when I plug it into my Anker adapter, it says the same amount of time, but a standard charge. Ie not displaying as fast charging, but with fast charging times. With monitoring apps, both pull 1 amps.
Does anyone know what could cause this? Both pull the same but one doesn't say fast charging.
Hello, 4 days ago I bought this new s22 ultra with exynos processor, but it is generating many doubts that the loading of the device I feel that it is going very slow or more than it should be.
It always takes 2 1/2 hours or more to charge 100% with a 47w essenger charger or a Samsung charger that I have from the s10+ which I think is 20w and 3a
Measuring the charging speed in a plant or portable battery that I always have mark at most 20w but never stays at that speed, usually oscillates a lot between 10 and 16w, and stays much more at 10w which makes me weird and annoying because it is very low
I do not know if I should buy a Samsung charger of 25w since from what I have seen the 45w charge does not work, and that charger would be 5A unlike the one I have that is 3A but I do not know if it would make any difference.
I would like to know if it happens to someone else or if it is something normal, this makes me think a lot about changing phones since the charge seems to be very slow.
Please would appreciate any help, I will also leave attached the charging settings I have placed and the measurement I have made with my charger, I serve any advice you have please

I have Samsung (i think 25w charger) and from 10% to 100% Max 1h10 mins
45w charges quick enough

It's a QuickCharge 3. It's an old standard for Snapdragon phones and Samsung S-series before s20. To charge fast You need 45W PPS PD 3.0 charger. PPS is crucial.
If i remember correct samsung 45watt charging is 9v x 5A not 5v x 9A. If you have 3A the maximum you can charge is 27w (9v x 3A) but if your charger is 5v then only 15w (5v x 3A).

Turn off adaptive battery. It will change the charging speed for battery life savings. It's a new feature but has been making people think fast charging modes aren't working.
