What amp charger does the Note 4 have? - Galaxy Note 4 Accessories

Is it 2a?
I pre-ordered it and wish to have backup wall/car chargers ready to go for next week.
Tnx

It's a 2A Quickcharge 1.0 unit. Quickcharge boosts the voltage (to ~9v from 5v) when the phone is less than 50%, so you can't get just ANY 2 amp charger and expect it to work as quickly.
If you care (or are willing to wait) Quickcharge 2.0 wall plugs should ship in ~2 months. That boosts the input to 15 volts (IIRC) and will supposedly charge from 0% to 100% in about 45 minutes.

yeah I guess I can wait. I can always keep an old 1a plug by the bed for long overnight charges.
Does samsung sell oem chargers at release date?

9V 1.67A and 5V 2A is what it says on the charger
9V 1.67A is the rapid charging part

it's a dual voltage charger. 5v @ 2.0A and 9v @ 1.67A

For some unknown reason, I have a 2.1 amp car charger and cheap 1 amp ac charger. My HTC One M7 charge slow but the Note 4 charge much faster using the same charging device. I dont know what it is, but I like it!

So the charger on Samsung's website is not the same one that came with the Note 4?

Not sure it has anything to do with the Fast Charging hardware. The Fast Charging works with the provided charger, which is a dual voltage one. I used my iPhone's/iPad's car charger with my Note 4 and didn't notice a speed-up in charging time.
On a tangential note: I can't find anyone who sells the Note's fast charger separately yet and I needed another one for use with the Note 4 at the office. So I used the Asus charger that came with my original 3G Nexus 7 (which remains forgotten on a shelf). It works pretty well. I noticed that the Asus charger charged all my handsets (HTC One M8, Nexus 5, Z2, Oppo Find 7) pretty reliably -- the M8 and Nexus 5 seemed to charge faster compared with their stock chargers.
Anyone who's held the Asus charger knows it's a little bit bulkier and a few ounces weightier than the usual chargers that come with smartphones these days so there may be a hardware component to it. Whatever it is, it's probably the best standalone charger I've had the cables connect via a USB port so you can use it with your iPhone too.
If you can find at a garage sale or some random tech shop, you should pick one up. Works great with everything.

New battery charger

Hello,
my battery charger stopped working and i need a new one. I read a few review and i'm a bit confuesd, not every chargers with the capability to deliver 1000mAh works with every device. So which one oft them works with the desire s and delivers 1000mAh and not just 500mAh?
just buy a oem wall charger ,, easily found on ebay and also cheap
does it has any difference between 1000 and 500mah chargers? now i'm using original liveview charger with 500mah on it but also have 1A iPhone charger.

Overheating
im using an old S2 charger i think, its got an output of 5V, 0.7 amps and after flashing a costom rom, jellyfirebean im getting serious overheating issues, but only while charging with the phone on.
however i cant confirm this is the chargers problem yet
just a note, its the phone that heats up not the charger

Double that. Overheating can be only caused by the phone itself, or a defected battery (means it is near death, but for serius heating, you will notice like 1hrs of battery life for the phone).
On another note for the topic. I use 3 type of chargers for my phones:
At home my ASUS tab's one (which is rated 5V 1A at the standard USB, plus the extra for the dock, but it is ASUS specific), at work an old ZTE "dumbphone" charger (which is rated 5V 0.75A, and is a high frequency switching type, so really energy-efficient) and for any other my old SE X8's one, which is 5V 650mA (which is also switching type). Also dedicated charger cables, 1 nokia, 1 SE, 1 HTC and 1 ZTE at my car.
The phone's original 5V 1A is NRFB at the box of the phone, but I have a security backup Samsung charger (rated 5V 500mA and pass-trough type, so not really efficient, but stable) which works just fine. The S is not capable (or not enabled just yet) of fast charge mode AFAIK so no really chance for 500mA or more when charging (even when GPS and 3G on, and screen on max, which is aroung 430mA when I last measued it with a service cable).
reporting back
yeah i can confirm it was the 2 year old htc battery
i am now using 2 anker 1600mah batterys and they last a LOT longer + come with an enternal charger so i always have one charged, it also charges the old htc battery too externally so i can now use 3 battieries mwahahahaa
note i did have to delete battery stats in cwm to recalibrate

Car charger for Samsung Galaxy S4

Has anyone managed to get a car charger for this phone?
I've just tried to charge the phone with my car charger modded to "AC" mode by shorting the middle pins... and the S4 gets nada...
Have they changed the charging mechanics?
Is that what's going on? I was wondering what the heck was wrong with my charger!
Yup, the car charger still charges my old HTC, even with the Samsung cable... so there's definitely something different inside the charger...
I have a 2A usb car charger with generic cable to charge my devices. It's nothing special, but it works with my S4. Hope that helps.

Hmmm will have to look into getting a decent 2A charger then and NOT modifying it...
So I opened up my car charger and un-modded it back to original and it works like a charm now
I've got a 1A Belkin car charger and it seems to overload after a while when charging my gs4.
The green light on it blinks and my phone makes that sound when you plug in the charger.
Takes a while for it to happen but gets more frequent the longer you have it plugged in.
The charger works fine with my gf's nexus 4.

I'm using the Motorola charger (big blue circle). Got it for my Razr Maxx a year or so ago (I've gone through like 4 phones since then) and it works wonderfully. It's the best micro-USB car charger I've ever seen. Coiled cord, huge blue light (but not too bright since it's an ambient-style light), and charges quickly.

Seriously, the best car charger I've ever owned. 950mA is also one of the highest car chargers I've used.
I used to have that same motorola charger but I just switched to this one by SPIGEN: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0069EGLFY/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Different USB cables do pass different current even if using the same charging main. From tests I've done so far, a generic 3 ft USB 2.0 cable I randomly purchased online only allowed around 400 mA. An old Blackberry Torch 9810 cable allowed around 1200 mA. Original cable that came with the S4 allows 1900 mA. These numbers are from using the original wall charger main that came with phone.

Quick charge compatible car chargers

Looks like the Note 4 comes with a 2A charger. I imagine this is all we would need in a car charger to support the quick charging?
Nope. The charger has some type of 9 volt mode to facilitate the quick charge, apparently.

You'd need a special Samsung charger. The one that comes with the Note 4 has dual modes. It will charge at 9V 1.67A up to 50%~ and then switch over to the regular 5V 2A.

So, has anyone tried the ones not listed by Samsung or Qualcomm? Amazon has both Anker and Verizon for about $10 or $12 that are 2 or 2.1 amp. I know they probably don't do what the officially compatible ones do but they'd be better than the old Sprint thing I have been using for 5 years, right? It's probably 1 amp or less. I need a new charger but not necessarily fully-compatible until they get cheap like this stuff I am seeing.
If you want the fast charging in your car you need to buy one that is Quick Charge 2.0 capable.
I tried 10W car charger from Samsung and it charged from about 60 % 1% every minute up to 75 % while testing it. But it isn´t really fast charging technology or?

Where did you get this information re 50%?
When mine passes 50% it continues to quick charge according to the battery stats I have obtained on my device.
I imported a number of the Incipio car chargers to the UK. They are excellent but not cheap!

Onite 5V 3A Universal quick wall charger for Note 4

If you have a Nexus 6, Moto X, Galaxy Note 4, or any other Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 compliant phone or tablet, you need a high output “Super Charger” like this one to get the full charging speed that those devices are capable of. On my new Nexus 6, this charger took me from 30% to 92% in 30 minutes of charging!
Pros:
+ Fast and powerful.
+ It runs silently.
+ Good quality build, including a nice quality cable and plug.
+ Quick Charge 2.0 compatible.
Cons:
- Bulkier and heavier than most chargers.
- The LED light is much brighter than it needs to be.
- The prongs don’t collapse, so they are at risk of getting bent in your laptop case or bag.
This Onite 3.0A is well made and very powerful. I strongly recommend you get this or another 3A charger like this if you have a Quick Charge 2.0 compatible phone or tablet. I received mine for free, to review, but am very happy with it.

Thats not a quick charge 2.0 charger, the quick charge chargers use 9v's to charge instead of 5v's

Spammer. He doesn't even know the technology enough to be a reviewer.
note 4 charger(quick charger) is 9v,1.67A instead of 5V
note 4 quick charger is 9v, 1.67A. Though 5V 2.0A is also OK, while no quick.
Considering 5V 3A, maybe it is faster than 2A. But the IC will prevent from higher current.
I actually ordered and tested this charger. It seems as fast as my other 2 Amp chargers. All of the reviews of this charger on Amazon are from other people who've been given samples from the seller. Don't waste your money on this charger.
I'd never buy anything from Onite. Spam threads from them, like this one, seem to pop up quite often.

Any charger that is a 2amp charger... and any cable.. i have tried all my old cables on the s6 charger... all allow fast charge... and its charger is 2amp.... same as nexus 7 and all other newer devices... so just go with a 2 amp charger and enjoy the fast charge. And yes they make dual port 2 amp chargers... usually 1 port is 2 amp and second one is like 1 or 1.4amp... i have 2 cheap ones from amazon myself... will test them with the phone tomorrow and update you.

any cable will work, but not every 2.0A charger will work. i tested it with a 2.0A (not the Samsung one) charger and "fast charging" did not show up in the phone.
AFAIK, you have to use one of Samsung's OEM chargers or one capable of the Quick Charge 2.0 standard for adaptive fast charging.
OP, i only did a cursory search, but i found this dual Quick Charge 2.0 charger that might meet your needs: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TGD79X8?psc=1
Interesting, I didn't think to check for QC 2.0. I was thinking the Anker one did that. Thanks!
That being said though, anyone have experience with any of them with how they hold up?
Verizon sells one, it is their generic branding, it's the only one that I have seen or tried that is marketed that it is QC 2.0, works great even has a built in LED flash light basically. Sucks that it is $34.99 though.
http://www.verizonwireless.com/accessories/verizon-vehicle-charger-with-fast-charge-technology-for-micro-usb/
From my understanding Quick Charge 2.0 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (or newer) processor feature. The Galaxy S6 is running Samsung's Exynos 7420 processor which features Adaptive Fast Charging. I don't know how they vary in terms of performance, but I do know that when I plug in my Quick Charge 2.0, my S6 recognizes it as a fast charger. Battery went from 40% to 63% in 13 mins so I'm assuming both charging standards are compatible lol..
Try this car charger, worked great for my Qualcomm based phones.

i'm reasonably sure it's the same standard. the Note 4 (Snapdragon 805) is listed on Qualcolm's website as compatible with QC 2.0. however, if you look at Samsung's website, it only lists Adaptive Fast Charging. Samsung just rebranded QC 2.0 as their own Adaptive Fast Charging. you can use all devices interchangeably.
also, the OP wanted a dual port QC 2.0 charger. that one only has 1 port w/ QC 2.0
I have already Anker 2 amp car charger in hand and i was thinking it wont be fast enough , i have seen video where quaclom demonstrated that Quick charging is faster than 2 amps charging , and judging by the fact that Samsung is providing comparable charging time with stock charger i was thinking that it is more than 5V 2.0 Amps .. too bad i am waiting for my phone to arrive.
