XT1039 cannot get 5.1 OTA if I am root (but still on Stock 4.4.4)? - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I own a XT1039 (moto g 4g 1st gen) and currently have unlocked bootloader and rooted.
Yet, I am on stock rom 4.4.4 and 21.11.56.peregrine_retgb.retgball.en.GB
I just contacted motorola on chat and they informed me that:
1) there is only OTA for updating to 5.1 (no way to download or load by pc Motorola Device Manager)
2) cannot guarantee that I will get a notification for the update because I m root.
I see here,
that my device should already have the update
Any help, please?..
PS. I do apologize if there is duplicate for my post, I could not locate an answer...

anyone??

you must download the Motorola Updater from Google PlayStore..and you'll available to upgrade your device

Some (not-so-)dumb questions

So listen you cherry pies, I'm a flashoholic, just got my Moto G a few days ago, thought I'll never have to root but am already thinking about reflashing this mother****er.
For now, as CM11 seems to be miserably unstable, I'm leaning towards going GPE on my Tesco UK Moto G.
But, I like some of the motorola services: one so in particular - the remote wipe/lock/etc. in case of phone being stolen.
So the questions are:
If I flash the GPE rom to my non-gpe Moto G, will I be able to receive OTA updates?
Let's say I've flashed CM11. Now I want to go back to stock firmware. If I do so, will I be able to use Motorola apps such as Assist, and more importantly, use the remote wipe/lock feature?
Is it possible to re-lock bootloader, like restoring the whole device's software to its OOB state?
Thanks!
Oh and just to clarify:
can I use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219 guide to flash KOT49H (GPE) firmware on my Tesco UK Moto G?
Please, anyone?
1. If you flash gpe rom, your system files would be modified. You will further not receive any updates from Motorola moto G but will be eligible for updates from Google GPE.
2.Definitely yes, flashing a rom modifies only software not hardware so as soon as you will be back to stock moto OS, the moto apps will start supporting your device and most probably your rom.
3. You may be able to relock your boot loader but your warranty will be void. Whenever anyone unlock its boot loader it communicates with moto site to get unlock key and at very time loses its warranty.
You can try that method but maintain all precautions and do have a backup.
Thank you so much!

[Q] My moto g 2013 can't update and is not rooted

I have bought this Moto G today, and was willing to update it to the last android update. Anyway, whenever I try the "update software" option, it says it's already updated, while it's currently running android 4.4.4 After some reading I found that I needed the Motorola Update App, but when I try to update the app (cause it's already installed), it says that the device is incompatible.
Then I read that if the device has been rooted, it won't update, so installed the Root Checker app, and it said that my Moto G has not been rooted, and this is where I don't know what else to do.
The mobile is an Moto G XT-1040, originally from Movistar Argentina, but I bought it here, in other country. Maybe that's the reason why I can't update it? Any help will be appreciatted, thank you very much for reading.
PD.- I have installed Motorola Device Manager and ran it, it says that there is no update for teh device, and the actual version is 21.31.1.peregrine_tefla.tefla.en.01, don't know if it helps somehow.
Because the last update for moto g is android kitkat 4.4.4 ..lollipop is not rolled out yet

[Q] update error moto g xt1033 dual from 4.4.4 to 5.0

i received OTA Update yesterday. i downloaded the data. In installing process my phone was rebooted and installed the 5.0 data in few seconds and displayed like this "error"
after my phone normally switch on and show your update is unsuccessful.
Have you unlocked bootloader? Or rooted your phone? The sysyem needs to be in PURE stock form. However if you haven't altered your sysyem, do this by stock flashable zips available for your region.....or if your phone is still in warranty, go to moto service centre. They will update it for you for free.

[Q] Moto G Telus/Koodo, screwed up 5.0.2 update : please help..!

Hello Android gurus
I tried to find the answer to my problem in the other threads, but I'm still not 100% sure if I should proceed.
. I had rooted xt1032 moto g prior to 5.0.2 OTA that came out yesterday.
I used full unroot with supersu prior to applying the OTA thinking it would be ok. I guess I screwed up, my phone is soft bricked.
I can get in stock recovery but otherwise it is on boot loop and ends up with 'no command'.
I have the moving line problem on the bootloader white screen which seems to imply a diferent version of kernel and bootloader, (which I do not full understand)
.. Which makes we wonder if it is unsafe to flash the stock rom 4.4.4 image of my phone.
And if it is safe, will I be able to update via OTA after that?
What are my options? Thanks in advance!
The moving line issue is probably due to the fact that you have the 41.18 bootloader on your phone.
I also have a Koodo xt1032 with the 41.18 bootloader and was able to flash back to stock Telus 4.4.4. Do not flash stock 4.4.2 as other XDA members have said that flashing 4.4.2 would brick your phone.
I'm checking for OTA updates but I keep getting the message that my phone's software is up to date.

Android 10 update error

Hello,
I just got the message that the android 10 update is available for my Motorola Moto G7 Power. When I tried to download it it says "sorry there was a problem updating your moto G7 power, no changes were made". I was rooted with magisk so I unrooted and I even did a factory reset. Now I want to download the update, but it still says this error does someone have the same problem or knows how to fix this? Thanks
Most likely you would need to reflash stock firmware & relock the bootloader, but IDK for sure, as I haven't received an OTA update in over a decade.
The old f/w can be had @ lolinet, but where your service is located and whom you bought phone from dictates which version is for you. If unsure, post up the xt1955-? and where you bought it & who is your service provider.
None of the official 10 f/w have been posted to lolinet yet, sadly. Am checking often, myself.

Not sure about the 9 to 10 upgrade, but I do know in 9, the update will not allow a version downgrade of the modem.
It gives the same error message.
