Ok Yall we are moving to North Carolina, so ATT, Cricket, T mobile ,and Sprint are no longer a useable service which means my beloved Galaxy S5 rooted, unlocked running the Sickness or CM11 whichever I restore that week is no longer useable, so....we went to the only service that works in the area we are moving Version....they want $400 down so we went prepaid
I now have a Samsung SM-J100VVP, is there any way to root it on XDA? I have looked on the internet and for some reason just from past experience I only trust you guys on here.
that's probably because I have made several bricks before I first came here

Interesting because I am on straight talk, using AT&T service and when I went down to North Carolina I had 4G service nearly everywhere. I went to two smaller towns of Wilmington and Hampstead, I was also briefly in Jacksonville and the signal was solid. I can only assume that your moving to a different part of NC?
As far as the J1 I'm unsure if there's even a root method let alone a possibility of the bootloader to be unlocked. I used to have an S3 on VZW and I rooted and unlocked it before they locked it down for good

We're looking around the Plymouth area, Murfreesboro, Ahoskie, Rich Square, and Aulander, AT&T is what cricket runs on and as soon as we cross from Chesapeake into NC my phone (on cricket) and my wife's phone (straight talk) both dropped dead, while verzion runs smooth the whole time. The only reason I even want to root is yo run ad away

Its ok man I kinda like the J1 my S5 had CM11 on it and the android 5.02 seems to be almost exactly as I had the S5 set up except that everything is so damn light, the S5 is dark UI.
Hardest part of the s4 is gonna be buying the board, we also need 2 boards for two S5's and a screed digitizer and frame assembly for an S5, My oldest is gonna buy his own Verzion phone next time he gets paid, I'll be buying my youngest some his on payday and he can pay me back when he gets a job

Hey guys, I'm looking for a T-Mobile phone that is used and costs around $150. I'm looking at these phones:
HTC MyTouch 4G (non-slide)
HTC G2
Motorola Defy
Samsung Vibrant
Samsung Galaxy S 4G
Also, taking into consideration which has ICS and a more active dev community.
Thanks!
EDIT: I'm going for a no-contract $30 prepaid plan, forgot to add that

Go with the vibrant! Great phone. The SGS 4g (T959v) is nice but there is a larger dev community for the original. You won't be disappointed.
Edit: Don't overlook the captivate from at&t. It is easily unlocked with an app and is a great phone, large dev support as well.

Would never buy Motorola, Samsung and so much about nothing at all, so much trouble with him was. So many problems with the flashing, forever's not like it, is not flashing, after the firmware is not loaded, reloaded
My choice of HTC

I am leaning towards the Galaxy S because I bought GTA 3 on one of my old phones and it was laggy on that one (it had an adreno 205)
consider the htc one x
with his quadcore processor you're good for a few years
My vote goes for HTC One X too. Tegra 3 is overrated, but too many developers start to consider that as main platform for development.
He wants phones that are affordable guys!!! lol But if I had to I would get a Samsung Galaxy S 4G and get straight talk for $45 Unlimited everything!!!.
Now for high end phones... the GS3 is deffinently the KING!

I live in Washington D.C. I will post some pics up later today for you. Believe me I really looked into it before I bought my captivate. I also have a vibrant. These are really great devices. Let me start out by saying I'm not advocating piracy or any illegal activities but you can get alot of cool new games from 4shared. Hypothetically you could get the apk for these games to try and see how they work on your device before purchasing. Please purchase these games and apps to help support the development and continuation of great apps on the market.

thankyou!
Welcome fellow Canadians!
Seeing as the Galaxy Note 3 is going to be released in Canada very shortly (October 4th), I figured we should get some discussion going on where you're buying, and any speculations to price points.
I just got off of a chat with Telus, regarding an email I had received, offering $50 off a device when you sign a contract, OR, stay month-to-month. So you can save a bit of money for those who are purchasing the phone outright, or even signing up for a new contract. You need to call a special sales line: 1-877-279-3900
Also, while she couldn't officially confirm, the rep did tell me that she would strongly suggest I go to a corporate store on Friday.. Obviously this is just in case there are shipping delays (doubtful) but I think that it's quite safe to say that it's coming out on Friday!
Currently, Wind Mobile is the only carrier to officially announce their pricing, but I think that it would be safe to say that the other carriers will be in line (roughly) with Wind.
- WIND 40: $449
- WIND 30: $549
- WIND 33: $549
- WIND 20: $649
- Outright: $749
I was also able to "confirm" with the rep, that the price point for Telus would probably fall around $799, so that isn't too far off of Wind's pricing.

All I really want to know is if the bootloader will be locked like the US variants or did we escape it again like with the S4?

Which International Model Works Best In Canada N900 or N9005?
Hi Guys
As the title states, which model works best in Canada specifically on Bell, the N900 or N9005 model? Also will I get full LTE with the N9005 model? I've tried researching them and keep finding different answers. Sorry if this topic has been covered prior. Just sold my Xperia Z Ultra C6833 to jump over to the N3. Or should I wait for the Canadian release on Bell which I believe is this Friday Oct.4th?
Thanks Again

Im having the same problem myself. Wondering which models will work on Rogers with LTE? Its difficult to understand the band and frequency numbers. I have never had to research a phone like this before I bought it. Some of the numbers match and some dont, does that mean it'll work? Or does it have to have every number matching?
But ya, my question is the same, will an unlocked N9005 LTE work on Rogers?
You can't quote me on this, but if you're looking for LTE, then the only version hat works would be the Qualcomm N9005. I believe the N9000 is the octa core 3G international version.

Hey AllGamer, nice to see you back from the Galaxy S2 days
I found the Wind Mobile pricing from Mobilesyrup: http://mobilesyrup.com/2013/09/28/w...laxy-note-3-on-october-4th-heres-the-pricing/
Bell also announced their pricing today as well, off contract: $799.95 (http://mobilesyrup.com/2013/10/01/bell-samsung-galaxy-note-3-to-cost-799-95-outright/). Which is right around the pricing that the CSR told me yesterday.
Does anyone know for sure, 100%, if the T-Mobile version of the Note 3 will work on Wind? Normally this is the case, but I ask because the T-Mobile version is the snapdragon model whereas Wind is going to be carrying the Exynos model.
I really want the dev support, and from what i gather, dev support is going to be none-existent for the Exynos version? Or is this maybe not going to be as accurate as it is/was for the S4? Or am i wrong about the S4 here too? I just remember reading and hearing that samsung doesn't release source code for the kernel etc for the Exynos chips - which i don't understand fully because I did read a few posts about how samsung had released the source for the Note 3 (or maybe it was the Note 10.1 2014) with the Exynos chip...
can anyone shed light on these issues for me?
Specifically, four questions:
1. T-Mobile Snapdragon phone on Wind Mobile? (Or any other snapdragon phones on Wind?)
2. How does the dev support look like it will be for the Exynos version that Wind Mobile is going to be selling?
3. Does the source code that samsung released for the Exynos model of either the note 3 or note 10.1 2014 mean that they are releasing more source code than they used to for their Exynos chips? Or was this stuff all released for other chips too?
4. Do you guys know if there will be a way to purchase the Note 3 outright from wind if you are not going to be on a new contract? I'm on wind already and i want to keep my existing plan because it's a better deal than any plan they have had since they offered this one, but i obviously want to buy this phone friday... i know with the S3 i had to activate a new plan, but of course then i just threw out the new sim card - worry here is that one wind guy told me that for the first month they may not even allow outright purchases only purchases on the wind tab, in which case i couldn't just throw out the sim card and use my old one could i?

You cannot use it on Verizon. Verizon is a CDMA carrier. The only way it will work on Verizon would be data / LTE only. No calls/sms. In the USA that phone will only work on AT&T/T-Mobile or any other GSM carrier.

That sucks :/. If your willing to sign a 2 year contract BestBuy has most of the new samsungs for $1 Also if your willing to add a line and keep it for at least 3 months you get $300 off if you trade in a phone. I recently got two G4s by adding lines ending up making $100 lol.
I love the G4. I cannot say about the V10. I don't like the upper screen personally I don't think it's useful. But the v10 is a great phone though.

The note 4 till this day, hasn't gotten the marshmallow update while almost all carriers have released it including tmobile. Also the bootloader is locked and also no root. I said to myself I was going to give samsung another chance on tmobile. If nothing happens, then we know where the future of future samsung products go as far as rooting.

For the update.. samsung did a bad job of keeping their products up to date. The mobile carrier cannot make their own marshmallow update for note 4, if samsung doesnt make it in the 1st place. I think they want ppl to buy their new products.. And as far rooting... i think is really hard now since they work with blackberry to make KNOX better...
so we currently are on verizon. our signal is weak at home and heard at&t services our area well.. so im realy cinsidering the switch.. it sucks going outside to make phone calls..
what at&t devices have development going on?? root, backup.. you know..
we switched to verizon a year ago from tmobile. i got a htc dsire 626 that had no dev whatsoever.. going from a rom junkie to no means at all was crazy.. i hate phones with buttons but in this case it seems if i have to do it, i have to do it..
I know the feeling. I thought the Galaxy S4 would be a "nice cheap upgrade" from the Captivate (Galaxy S, AT&T branded ofc) which spoiled me to no end. I'd love to find something as open as that.
Right now, I'm looking at just outright outta-contract buying an unlocked phone and just doing the legwork to make sure it works with AT&T antenna wise.
Of course everyone's needs and wants are different but amongst my group the winners seem to be OnePlus Three, LG G4/5, for those who are flash-happy.
