can THIS phone use ubuntu touch - General Questions and Answers

hi there, i have a (very likely fake) samsung galaxy S5... and it came with a MASSIVE amount of well.. MALware.. im sorry
but im simply NOT INTERRESTED in playing game of freaking war or clash of titans for that matter.. so... according to
CPU-Z
i have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 3.00 GHZ ( 8 cores ??? )
no idea on the amount of ram sorry
point is.. no matter how many times ive done a device reset or installed malware remover... nothing changes.. the malware
is built INTO this Android OS.. so that being said, i would like to know if its POSSIBLE to root this device ( if so tell
me how please ) and if the processor is sufficient enough to handle Ubuntu Touch.. thank you
mind you if you have any bones to pick with me because i own a FAKE samsung.. kindly bend over and shove your ethical
debate up your you know where...

[Q] alternative OS's on feature phones

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to load an alternative OS like android on a feature phone? by this I mean phones that have an integrated processor, not like a cortex or a qualcomm one that you can easily find it's clock in the phone's spec sheet. I've been having a terrible time trying to figure this out, and having no results.
I also know that for some phones, this is possible, but they must have some sort of a capable processor and a considerable amount of ram and rom. However, my phone's pretty limited in those terms, but I still think it might be able to load an alternative OS.
BTW my mobile is a samsung s5600
thanks.
I think it is a Samsung S5600 is impossible. because it is just a telephone. In the phone is quite different RAM modules and CPU, which is much weaker and easier.
Sorry for my bad english
no problem, I understood
I still think that with an old android firmware (like 1.5 or 1.6), the phone might be able to withstand it, as they don't require too much ram or a fast CPU. as for rom space, I have no idea...
I really hope to get a dev interested
2.2 requires least ram but would need alot more work with the kernal to port over
yeah, I've heard that somewhere around.
do you know what about v1.6?
P.S.: btw i just found out this phone has an MSM6280 chipset which has in itself an ARM926EJ-S processor
And then there's the fact that someone would have to write drivers for the chipset, graphics, sound, and everything else that the OS is meant to talk to...
Isn't that all integrated in the chipset itself? I mean, wouldn't it just need the chipset driver only in that case?
anyway, the question still remains though. is it really possible or definately not?
Thanks

[Q] MTK Cpus

Can anybody built somenthig for this kind of CPU?
A lot of people we've chinese cell phones with Android and MTK cpu (I've MTK6515), and after rooted it, its impossible to overclock with any Overclocking aplication, or install a Recovery, or install a ROM.
I need your help, because I think we're many with China cell phones and china tablets who are in the same situation.
Thanks for all and your all developing work.
Anybody else?
Yeah , i have the same problem ( star a5000 with mtk6516 platform) . I rooted it with Z4root app and installed setcpu but i cant overclock it . Any ideas ?????
Usually overclocking requires a kernal which has been modified from stock. If you don't have a kernal with OC frequencies added in, then setcpu (or similar app) will not be able to access higher frequencies than the stock ones.
Hope this helps.

Thank you, but is there any option to improve that phone ?? Maybe wait and install custom ROM will help ??
extrange
i have an A5000 GBA emu runs great but NES, GBC & SNES emus run like crap, someone knows to solve it? also angry birds looks awful, the procesor isnt so slow at least reading the specs that said it has about 415 mhz, maybe the firmware was the cheap thing...
Me, me, me me too!
Well there is a LOT of people buying from china these days and I am one of them.
The MTK6515 in in my h7000 and Im starting to experiment with it, about to root it and so on, but lets face it this processor REALLY SUCKS bad time.
I belive there is some way to improve performance via OC but really doubt it will be much of a diference as some one said, it really strugles to run angry birds at its lowest resolution.
WE NEED SOME HELP jajaja but Im fairly hapy with my chinese HD7 jajaja
China phone ID500
Yeah!!!!
I also bought a phone with MTK6516 CPU running Android 2.2 then i rooted it by UniversalAndRoot, also installed Busybox and it works great but any mod ROM could be installed neither any OC performed. Also now I see newer phones on the web with same CPU running OS Android 2.3 so.... it's possible an upgrade!!!
The problem is how to do it?!?
Can someone of you skilled guys help us "china-droid" users???
Thanks in advance to everybody will improve this toys

@ianaxelbay:
Are you sure about the mtk6515 I googled the model of yours and always in specs mention about mtk6516.
I have ordered this phone:
http://www.aliexpress.com/product-f...M-radio-3-5-Inch-Multi-touch-wholesalers.html
it has mtk 6515 clocked at 1ghz. Has anybody bought something similar to it? I am wondering about performance. Theoriticaly looks great but...
I have also same China QMobile A100 with Android 2.2 and Mtk6516 CPU with 415Mhz. I Really need to overclock it. Anyone can create a CUSTOM KERNEL for these Mtk6516. So that we could overclock our phones and enjoy games and much more. Please help and make this issue important!!
BEST OF LUCK!: good:

[Q] Benchmark and over-clocking

so I just ran a benchmark and recieved a score of 6193. Is this pretty normal to what you guys are seeing? Im running setcpu, but also had a quesion about these over-clocking apps.....being that the 10.1 sch-i925 lte is a quadcore, are the normal over-clocking apps still as efficient and can handle a quadcore?
Just asking....have a major in computer science, but that was 2 decades ago and now I dont work in ther industry, but I do play with my pc and smartphones and now my new tablet, so I am still kindof litterate.....but as far as coding these things, Im clueless, and not sure how these apps are written and if they take into acount a quad core vs dual cores or single.
I alos have a speed card reader app, dont know if this effects benchmark results, but just thought Id put that out there. So what kindof numbers are you guys seeing? Or anyone that can help educate me better about what Im talking about feel free to help me out.
Thanks guys

I hope more developers come here to develop and help our device.Team Canjica is best team in this forum which help our phone.
Off topic: Phone is made for chat:calls and messages and some games. But producters release phones with display over 5",with quadcore processors or octa core.Phone are gonna to have processor with over 8 cores and nvidia geforce at video and we will play gta 5 lol. Is called PHONE not COMPUTER. Smartphone should have a processor with 1.8 GHz max and Mali400, Mali 400MP or Adreno 305 maxim at graphic and display between 4" and 5" maxim. A smartphone should be SMART.Having big display, processors not make a phone smart. Producers must stop making smartphones with big displays and processors because make nonsense (also making phone with flexible or curved display make nonsense). Features like answer calls by saying "Answer" or by waving hand etc. ,these make a phone smart. I always was thinking to buy new smartphones (which are also popular) which have big display and big processors, make nonsense.I was thinking to buy nexus 4,but for what? Just a more big display and processor? I will be able just to play more new games without lag,but computer is for games not phone. In this moment,Tasked app can make a smartphone really smart. Thanks to the guy which made this awesome app.
So,I never sell my Galaxy S Advance for other phones until he die And maybe after he die I buy another galaxy s advance I love my phone and I'm satisfied with it.You made me to say my opinion about smartphones

Good words man, i think that a 5" display is reallyannoying to use because u can't bring with you freely cuz he's really too big! The new 8core are really useless, some galaxy s4 are getting some lags in touchwiz, our telephone not!

Paragraph 1: Our phone is being discontinued already, slowly but it's happening. Thankfully, Team Canjica helps us to take way more advantage of this 768Mb of RAM and 1GHz out of this comfortable 4" screen.
Paragraph 2: You're right but most of the flagships have software features that make them "smart" in a certain way. GS4 has features like Smart Stay and Air Gestures that make it way more useful than generic phones with more specs that just improve perfomance a bit more than needed without any other useful purpose, Moto X goes maybe for busy people that don't have the time to execute those time-consuming tasks that thankfully are shorten considerably depending on those features. Xperia Z1 goes for picture quality and a tad more for sound quality as the HTC One. It mostly depends of each phone. Not every phablet is useless. And about specs increase over time, it's just tech "evolving".

[Q] About my new tablet

Hey guys, ive just received brand new Asus memo pad as a Christmas present! The thing is I had my Samsung galaxy s3 for quite some time and I really enjoyed it but since both of these systems are operating on android, I cannot seem but feel like I got something that I already have... I know the screen is bigger and it has a lilac more RAM and not to mention Quad core processor! Even my 3 year old laptop has dual core and I have no idea where the heck in the tablet you can use such a processor...
So my question is... is there any awesome stuff that I could use my tablet for, which I cannot use my phone with? And perhaps would it be possible to use some kind of software to boost my laptop's processor when connected to tablet??

Well basically you can enjoy playing games and watch videos even more on a tablet than on a phone.. And those apps that are optimized for Tablets only will take up your entire screen and make use of that by using it to display more texts and information.. And also there are some apps that are for Tablets only - so you can use them too.. And I think that's pretty much it..

Thanks for the reply, since you've mentioned that there are some appsnthat can only run on tablets, I was wondering could you actually name a few?
list of good tablet specific apps
as far as i get your query it is in relation to the abilities of a tablet as compared to a phone
a phone can do anything your tablet can do...but a tablet cant do the same
but.....
1. it has got a bigger screen size so better multimedia experience
2. in my experience a phone screen no matter how big (read less than 6 inches) always feels a bit cramped even when compared to a tablet with a 7 inch screen
3. you've got some great apps out there that look and feel better on tablets than phones
eg. office suite, netflix, kingsoft office, trulia
you wanted to know something you can do with a quad core processor
try these on a quad core and a dual core. you'll get to know the difference pretty fast-
mass effect, modern combat, real football, the dark knight, browsing the internet, watching shows and movies online etc etc
there's a lot to do on tablets
carry one to conferences. believe me it is better to use a tab in a conference than a phone

I have tried but all of these apps are not found on the google play store...
hmmmm...strange
it may be an issue of compatibility. go to www.play.google.com log in there and find these kinda apps. go to the install option, if these apps are compatible with your device you'll be able to send a link to the device. if not, then you can always find an apk here and there and then install them
but remember to pay for them, RESPECT DEVELOPERS ALWAYS
by the way, here and there refers to other app store for eg the amazon app store
good luck with the app hunting
Tarun
if you can boost your laptop's performance with your tablet, then you should join Microsoft or intel, that should be some parallel computing technology enjoy you tablet with some fantastic games, i guess
