it's a truth of the world that salesmen will lie to make a sale, it now appears that they will lie to prevent a sale....
no nexus S will ever be sim locked.
As far as I know every single Nexus S is factory unlocked (Google requirement)...
So does that mean the salesman is just lying?cuz at&t wanta it to be called "locked"?
Btw thanks for replies guys!

I've seen too many cellphone salesmen say so many incorrect things about devices, or their own plans and policies that I usually bundle them with used car salesmen until they've "proven themselves"...
I want to buy a Nexus S 4G used for ~$180 off of eBay.
Would it be possible to activate it on T-Mobile's

Sorry about that, my phone had a bit a freakout. I actually had another question, which was if the phone could work on Virgin Mobile or not.

Virgin Mobile is GSM isn't it? The NS4G will only run on a CDMA network.

It's CDMA, just like Sprint.
Does a T-Mobile prepaid phone need to be cancelled or deactivated before anyone else can use it? An unlocked Nexus 4 to be specific.

The phone itself does not need to be deactivated...you just need to put in a different SIM card and you're good to go.
If I buy from Sprint will it be locked
No.

Yes. T-Mobile Nexus 4 was unlocked as well.
It will be the use model as Google play version just costs more money

Not true at all, look at the price tmobile is selling it for. Tmobile is more than Google play. I bought my N4 for 300 at the time before the price cut hapoen and tmobile still charges 400+.

http://m.sim-unlock.net/simlock/LG/Optimus_F3/ is this what you mean?
I wouldn't really know, but the safest way is to get it unlocked at a store. You can search around in the forum or Google of you wish to try some luck.
