LG or HTC Dual SIm for UK (Voda & EE) - General Topics

Hi everyone
Last year I bought the fabulous LG G3 Dual Sim from Hong Kong (H858HK), I was pissed when I got home as it does not work on 4G like it did in HK and it will not update over OTA :/
I have rooted it (Of course) and it's running 5.1 but updates and custom Roms are scarce or invisible lol
So now I am looking to upgrade BUT I want a phone that works on 4G as my Voda business tariff includes 5Gb on 4G so my as well use it right ?
I am looking through all the bumf and it seems the LG G4 H818P will not work in the UK on 4G, not sure about the H818P and the HTC ONE E9+
Can anyone please help shed some light on this for me?
I need a dual sim phone that will work on Vodaphone and if poss EE too
Specs for H818N are here, bit not sure which 4G Vodaphone uses as it says 800Mhz on their website :/
http://www.lg.com/hk_en/mobile-phones/lg-H818N
FDD: 2100(B1) / 1800(B3) / 2600(B7) MHz TDD:2600(B38) / 1900(B39) / 2300(B40) / 2500(B41) MHz
HTC says
4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 28(700), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500)
SO am I right in thinking the LG is no good, but HTC ONE will be fine?
Thanks for any help & advice

European HTC Desire Z to Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G?

Im wondering if anyone has gone from the Desire Z to the Galaxy S Relay 4G in Europe.
I ask for Europe to make sure it is compatible with most networks over here.
I see there is even ROM development over here with 4.4.4 running I imagine codename "Android L" will probably run as well
Thank you for the comments.
A few have had posts in the q&a or maybe general section, there aren't many posts at all here so I'm sure with minimal effort you'll find the ones I'm referring to

I went from Desire Z to Galaxy S Relay, it works well in Norway.
You need to unlock the phone from T-Mobile, see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255892.
Be aware that this phone is not enabled for 4G (LTE) network, only 3.75G (HSPA+). HSPA+ is marketed as 4G in USA, not in Europe.

3G works in Norway too?
I think by frequencies sadly 3G wont work here where Im at A shame.
900 MHz 3g doesn't work!
I upgraded too from Desire Z to Relay, didn't even realize any 900 Mhz problem. I get always an H or E icon (HSDPA or EDGE), so 900 MHz should be working.
According to specs, the phone should work with these networks:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100
I have it in Telekom in Slovakia and in the meantime I travelled to NY and got no problem at all (I had it set to manual network selection to save roaming charges).
The phone I bought via ebay was locked (even the seller described it as unlocked) but after firmware downgrade I easily unlocked it. I recommend LiquidSmooth ROM, you'll fall in love with that phone!
My other finalist was Moto Photon Q, it supports GSM but lacks SIM card slot. If you want, there's a guy in Prague, the author of the sim card mod instruction post on xda, that can do it for you. But I chose the easier way. Now I have a small problem with display flex cable (probably too much openings/day) so I'm considering buying another Relay before they're gone with no decent qwerty phone around. And I can leave the current one for spare parts. I had to put away my DZ because of the keyboard. Some keys started to write several characters instead of one and there was no easy way to fix it.
FYI ebay deals in your name with customs, so they charge you immediately and the phone is delivered to your door without customs holding it for a week.

T699 in the UK
Hi.
I did not owed the HTC, I used an Xpreia Pro prior to my S4 Relay. However I have the S4 relay for almost 1 year and I had no problems using it in the UK. I have traveled in Europe (France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania) and I was able to use it without any problems. AFAIK it works just fine on 900 Mhz but in 2G. The big question is what freq of 3G is your network provider using. For example, in UK I'm on EE network which is using 2100 Mhz for 3G and 1800 Mhz for 2G so the device works perfectly. Ifyou are on Movistar Spain than your phone will work fine, since the company is offering 2G on: 900/1800 MHz (both supported by S4 relay) and 900/2100 MHz UMTS ( from which 2100 is supported by the device). In very simple translation 2g will work everywhere without any problem, it might happen that is some places you will not get 3G signal.
Hope it helps.

will 4g work in uk

hi just purchased a USA htc win phone ,does anyone know if 4g will work in UK ,if so witch provider cheers
no body tried then
not much happening here then
Not sure
I have just bought from USA a HTC One M8 T-Mobile 0P6B140 which I have unlocked. It is working fine but although it shows it is on Vodafone UK 4G, using the app NET CHECK it reports 3G HSDPA/HSUPA 57mbit. The only thing that I haven't got working is MMS. I have entered the APN details for my contract Vodafone sim which I found on the net, and there are various, but it tells me it cannot send and to contact mobile op. for settings.
As for the 4G, I live in a rural area it may be that Vodafone are transmitting on band 20 (800 MHz) and this phone doesn't support that. Vodafone only have the 800 and 2600 frequencies, band 7 and 20. My phone uses 3 (1800), 4 (AWS). 7(2600), 13 (not sure). I might be wrong with these.
Overall I am pleased, the phone is superbly built and it gives me something to think about!
I have the mms working fine, it was just the APN/MMS settings. So it is just the 4G not working but I can stream video from my synology ds214play with the 3g HSDPA/HSUPA.
Hi, LTE support depends on which carrier version you are bringing to Europe. My Verizon version did not work because it supports only "non-European" LTE Bands.
Now that I am using the AT&T version I can use full LTE in Europe (except the 800mhz band, which doesn´t matter for my country).
Be also aware that AT&T and obviously T-Mobile change the firmware so the phone will display 4G when in reality it is on 3.5/3.75G and LTE when it is on real 4G.
Cheers,
T.

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
Could I get a few more details, like exact model number, what country and carrier it is being used for?
Also, any modifications that were done thus far?
If the G2 came directly from your carrier, shouldn't be an issue. By the sounds like it, the phone was bought outright and imported.
Thanks!

Hi,
Since you mention the USA, I am assuming that you are using a carrier there.
So the D802 is the European model. EU phones and North American carriers do not mix well (and vice versa). Although you could get 3G on AT&T in theory, since the bands match up. LTE with AT&T doesn't look compatible, and Neither 3G nor LTE look good with T-Mo.
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800)
3G 1700/2100 T-Mobile USA; 3G 850/1900 AT&T
4G LTE T-Mobile USA 700/1700/2100Mhz; 4G LTE AT& T 700/850/1700/1900Mhz

Feel free to ask any questions there as well.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

Hi... Working with a brand new Moto G XT1548. Stock Rom stock everything.
Simple question is this, how do I get this sim Unlocked to accept any sim card. Right now its apparently a virgin mobile phone and says (nationwide sprint 4g lte network) on the box; which I assume is how it would work in the states. But I am not in the states.
Can anyone help me out here? Or just point me in the right direction.

Ok Virgin Mobile/Sprint is CDMA, the sim is for 4g LTE so this not a GSM phone. I suppose you could try contacting carrier you want to use and see if they can switch it for you, but I doubt it's possible/worth hassle.
All Moto G 2015's support basic GSM service, but have limited bands for HSPA and LTE, the XT1548 has very limited...
CDMA: 800, 850, 1900 Mhz
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 Mhz
UMTS/HSPA+: 850, 1700, 1900 Mhz
LTE: B2 (1900), B4 (1700), B5 (850), B12 (700), B17 (700), B25 (1900), B26 (850), LTE-TDD: B41 (2500)
To unlock the SIM you have to contact Virgin Mobile or buy a code from an unlock service online.

Have you had any success in using it in Nigeria here? I'm expecting the same phone soon and I have some confidence it could work since it supports GSM bands. However, if you've been able to use it I could use some help in how you did it. If not yet successful, just hang on, I'll figure it out when mine arrives. I helped get the Moto X Sprint unlocked here on XDA.

You will get 2G GSM service only (GSM900, GSM1800)... at best... No 3G, WCDMA/HSPA, or LTE. The Sprint versions are "tuned" to Sprint service, and not to global or other regions, and there is no unlock for the other bands. The Sprint Moto G 2015 is probably the worst possible you could get, unless you have Sprint service.

I see... Just like the Verizon Moto E 2015, which when unlocked could only get 2G service and data... Well, it's better than not working at all overseas... Thanks.

Maybe... The Sprint version is just just limited in hardware to very specific bands and frequencies for Sprints network and basic GSM service for roaming needs.
Good luck.

Where to buy ?

Hi,
I can't find any information on neither Lenovo's site nor any other place on internet about the release date for this phone.
Where will it be sold ?
When ?
Does anyone have any ides on this ?
Thanks.
They haven't said an exact date, just that it's coming in September. The only announced retailers have been Best Buy and Lowes in the United States. I assume it will be available on some online outlet too.
well, I'd like to get it from UK
any possible shops in UK ?
Don't know about that, but presumably we'll get more information the closer we get to the release date.
heh. isn't it closer now ?
we are in september 2016...
It has been delayed.
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Lenovo-Phab-2-Pro-worlds-first-commercial-Project-Tango-phone-gets-delayed_id85312
very interesting.
why Lenovo doesn't want to release earlier in Europe...
I'm just speculating, but I seem to recall someone speculating (maybe it was Android Authority) that Lenovo may change the micro-USB jack on the device that was shown at the trade shows to a Type-C in the production model. Maybe there was some problem with that which caused the delay.
I'm just guessing though.
You can sign up to be notified when it's released on its official Lenovo page.
The Phab 2 Pro goes on sale November 1...
Sweet. How do you know?
Lowe's will be selling it also.
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Lenovo-Tango-Enabled-6-4-in-64-GB-16-MP-Smartphone/1000142955
I checked to see if I can get lucky and order a day ahead but it wasn't available.
Hi its on sale on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M6BZUNP/
Seems like it only supports ATT and Tmobile which sucks
---------- Post added at 11:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:59 AM ----------
Amazon is selling it now. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M6BZUNP. Seems though it only supports ATT and Tmobile LTE. And they only have the gun metal grey version.
$999, LOL!
I ordered mines this morning from Lowes online for Tuesday delivery but according to shipping it's coming a day earlier on Monday. I should be mad because I specifically chose Tuesday for a reason and now I have to stay at home. The phone is shipping from NC and I stay in SC on anyone may be wondering. The only suggestion I would make is do not buy anywhere except from Lowes, Best Buy, or the Lenovo store itself. I have seen people trying to sell this phone for $1000. I think people have been getting their phones faster when ordering from Lowes and Best Buy.
As of right now Lowes seems to be the best place to buy it. As fas as I can tell all purchases made from Lowes are shipping the same day. I don't think Lenovo has shipped any of their yet.
the european model has different frequency bands.

Do you have a link to the Best Buy one? I couldn't find it.
