Hi everyone, i'm in trouble with deep sleep. I'm on a G920i (VIVO-BRAZIL) and i can't get into deep sleep. I'm using Xtrestolite with UNIBASE Kernel, rooted with CF Root and flashed SuperSU, and my cellphone never get into deep sleep. I've already tried to use DeepSleep(zip) fix patch by chainfire, typed the code into ADB/Shell, used stock, custom recovery...anything and nothing! Still stuck in 400mhz..
Looking at BetterBattery Stats (Kernel Wakelock), on top i have GPSD, second GPS, third Ili_pm_wlock, fourth, 13930000.decon.fb, fifth PoewerManagerService.Display, sixth PowerManagerService.WakeLocks, seventh ssp_wake_lock. My guess about this wakelocks is, I have to desable all fuctions to get into deep sleep? Like GPS, WIFI, Bluetooth, etc?
Second guess, what to do? Any procedure that you recommend to me?
Thank you for helping!
I'm also on Vivo-Brazil G920i, but I'm fully stock and I have the same issues.

It really makes me think about how much I wanted my phone to work right out of the box. Ww shouldn't be having this amount of trouble just for having a decent battery life.

EDIT.: Well, after a couple of hours my deep sleep it is gone again. Seems that GPSD is killing it. If anyone knows how to deactivate or what to do about it pls help, I'm getting a lot of battery drain again

I think it's integrated on the kernel. I never flashed the patch and it's working flawlessly.

gpsd (standard battery meter on android) and cellgeofenced (as GSAM battery monitor shows) are the biggest offenders even on stock. maybe it`s a hardware issue IDK
I have the same issues with my Galaxy S6. My was bought unlocked in brazil from the retailer "Submarino". Since the first day I realized that the battery was draining in the speed of the light.
I used the CPU Spy Reloaded and discovered that the phone never enter in Deep Sleep mode.
Tryied flashing a stock indian 5.1.1 ROM, swipping cache, but the problem never get definitively solved.
Now there are just two possible solutions to me: asking Samsung for a refound, or waiting hopefully for an update.
I refuse to root or use a custom ROM because I don't want the warranty to be voided.
I used some apps trying to find a solution, but none could help me in this case.
Do you solved your problem? What did you do?
Cheers!!!

I am also on india 5.1.1 (vivo - brazil) and got an OTA last week. This OTA (build COGA) solved my deep sleep issue. I was going crazy.
Check for a software update.
I am already using the same build, but the problem still unsolved for me.
I will sell this piece of [email protected] and buy another smartphone.
The warranty won't solve the problem.

The truth is: samsung sells pretty good hardware pieces with the worst software of all.
My battery is working the worst way as possible. Overnight the cellphone spent 25% of battery charge with everything closed, wifi and 4g both disabled. Only buy a Galaxy S6 if you want to root the device.

No - And it´s getting a bit frustrating i might add.
Check out Sammobile - It has become increasingly & annoyingly difficult to swing a dead cat around you without hitting obscure carrier specific KitKat updates left & right.
But 5 entire nordic countries?? Ohh - No.
We ought to contact Amnesty International and get "Update With holding" registered as an official form of torture. :silly:
At the very least it might have been usefull as an "Improved interrogation technique" at Guantanamo! :crying:
Regards
Elo.
I personally don't see any point in upgrading to KitKat as per now as it messes up more stuff than it actually "fix". NO move to SDcard support, battery drain for no apparent reason, locked bootloader and so on.
Correct me if I am wrong...
Seems like we are forgotten by sammy. Kitkat came in january and now 3 months later still nothing. Out last update was in december. lol.
I dont really need kitkat, but i need samsung to support my phone and now its been a lot of new fw's and nothing to NEE...
I just run the Polish version, works fine, except it's a battery hog.
i'm wondering why it takes 3-4 month to roll-out update for all regions !!!
really why ?

As expected not much have changed. Didn't do factory reset yet, i guess that is recommended? How about all the settings and saved games etc, those should be backed up?

You can try going without a reset - if there are no problems then you have no need to wipe the phone. If you have issues or sudden battery drain or something then do a reset. Apps and saved games can be backed up with Titanium Backup if you are rooted or I use Helium which works without root. Not sure if it saves settings - I try to never restore settings if I go to a different version so I haven't tested this.
I'm gonna do a factory reset 3 times as I did after the MJ7 disaster, it really helped with my battery life (not alot but a little).
I could usually squeeze out 6,7 hours of screen time on 10% this pales in comparison to MJ3 but I'll write here once I have some results.

If it says "H" next to the signal bar, you're using "4G". The stock Samsung ROM uses 4G instead of showing H, all other ROMs show H.

There isn't an H either. I think the problem is that the ROM has support for only T-Mobile, but I'm just looking that there is a way i could get 4G with Wind.
@getochkn made a thread for the Wind LB6 modem here:

There doesn't seem to be a flashable zip for 2.3.6 but if you update to anything newer than ICS you'll be able to flash it.
I actually recommend you give CM11 a go. 2.3.6 is now 2 years old and your phone is vulnerable to a lot of exploits that Samsung never patched but are fixed with more recent ROMs. KitKat runs amazingly well on this phone and you won't have the bloat that the stock Samsung rom comes with too.

Check out the CM11 thread, there haven't been complaints about the ROM. There was an issue with a Google Play Services update causing some battery drain, but I released an update a few days ago that had a patch fixing that.
It's a solid ROM, it still amazes me how well it works on this phone .

I got 4G working by wiping everything, and installing the rom again. Then I installed gapps and 4G wont work. I did all of that again but didnt install gapps and it works great! :good: The ROM is actually very good for this phone and I will probably keep it like this.
But I still need the gapps for automatic updates, and very easily downloading apps. Mobogenie just doesnt do it for me.
And Candy Crush wont work as when i launch it, it stays at the loading screen then just closes to the home screen.
Any way to fix these issues?

There is NO BETTER ROM than TEAM Acid CM11 for this phone. Top to bottom, this is the best its gonna get.
Like in the topic.
In call volume is the main concern.
Thanks
I'm still on KitKat... refused the Lollipop update. No issues with in call volume... definitely loud enough.
Same here. Never was a fan of lollipop's look. Still snappy since i got it first few weeks it came out. Battery still strong. No probs with in call volume either. Notification volume is louder from what i read also.
As it turns out, speed difference and real world performance is nil if any. Looking back, kk may be the windows xp version of android, light and quick vs heavier fancier more features of newer versions to come.

Lollipop was worse. I tried fullwipe installation of 5.1.1 but still had those issues mentioned. When I downgraded I had an old TWRP backup so I just deleted everything but storage in TWRP and restored the backup and it seems to be fine for me. Though flashing an official FTF 4.4.4 might be better to just make sure but I'm a bit too lazy for that right now lol.

I just downgrade my Z3 from LP 5.1.1 to KK 4.4.4. Yes, use that method from that link. But be extra cautious while using the Flashtool to downgrade to KK 4.4.4. REMEMBER to WIPE App Info, Cache and User Data at the top right of Flashtool. I forgot about it and my phone went to Bootloop problem. Had a hard time on figuring out on how to stop the bootloop. If anyone forget about it and went to bootloop, just totally switch off the Z3 by pressing power + up vol together. Then run Flashtool again. This time round don't mind about USB Debugging etc cause you cant go in anyway.
Almost 3 weeks on Kitkat 23.0.1..5.77
Its very fast and smooth, wonder if LP would give me any improvement (or disadvantage) ?
I'm also back on KK after 5.0 and 5.1 stints. I had all the classic problems associated with Lollipop whereas KK is rock solid.

Hi guys
Since going to Lollipop (not sure if was present since 5.0.2 too) my battery life has been pathetic compared to before. Currently i am on 5.1.1 and i struggle to get a day use out of the phone (i ALWAYS have it on STAMINA mode). However previously i would get 2 days use out of my phone easy with 6 hours SOT. Im wondering is it worth going back to 5.0.2 or should i just go back to kitkat and if so, how? I downloaded the firmware but not sure how to get my phone into recovery mode. My phone is stock, i have tried turning phone with volume button down but doesnt work.
Btw my usage has not been any different, don't have facebook, use my phone for Whatsapp, web browsing, music and thats about it
So basically should i go back to 5.0.2 or KK is the question? what are your guys experiences.
Flash Xposed, use Mobile Radio Active Fix module. Disable fast dormancy, too, for good measure.
Or wait for 6.0.

I can't tell yet, not enough time has passed since I installed it.
If battery life is your priority then go back to kitkat. It will last longer than lollipop.
May have to.
5.0.2 does seem better already but not as good as KK. However I'm wondering do all apps still support KK and work as normal?

Most should. Check out the apps on Google Play and it will have what android versions are supported.
Having 5.0.2 installed for a few days now battery life does seem to be improved abit however it still doesn't keep on going like KK. Having said that, android M should be released soon (hopefully) so may wait for that
Google only recently acknowledged the Mobile Radio Active bug on Lollipop, on the 15th of Sept I believe they finally assigned a dev to look into it. By the time it's fixed I suppose Android M will be out, which is also affected but apparently they fixed it in recent updates.
I thought they were supposed to address the issue in android M

They are, but with the amount of anger on the bug tracker they assigned a dev for Lollipop as well, I think its the same person infact.
I thought they recognised the problem back in May or something? I think i may just hold out for Android M 6.0 but it is really frustrating to know every Lollipop rom/software has that bug.
The bug report was filed long back but was not officially recognized/accepted on Lollipop till mid Sept.
Okay after several days on 5.0.2 my battery is no better it still is a joke, going to revert to KK.

Black Friday is quickly approaching, and the SM-G930U (Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 - US Unlocked version) is on sale at Best Buy, but I am also considering the HTC 10 which is also on sale. Both are similar in price. I can't make up my mind which one I want, but the tie breaker will go to whichever can be rooted, preferably systemless root.
So... Is the SM-G930U rootable? If so, is it systemless?
Exynos is rootable, not snapdragon.
Alright thanks for the update. I know this can change at any moment but I don't want to hold my breath since it's been a very long time for such a popular phone to not be broken, and I've gone through tons of threads on here where some say it's rootable and others say no, falsely getting my hopes up but they're probably still getting the versions confused.

Rootable but slow and freeze, even with all the tweaks.
I have a USA-U version.

Sorry, I thought it was the other user replying. But yeah, not sure what to tell ya. I flashed the recommended zip and set my governor to ondemand, got no freezes or lag. Battery life could be better but for root it's a sacrifice worth making. Tbh just waiting for nougat then I'm doing an Odin flash and running clean stock.

So one user is saying that it is rootable but suffers from performance issues, but you are saying that yours doesn't?
Why do you want to go back to stock?

Kinda of? Mine would be suffering from performance issues if I didn't change the governor and flash the fix zip. The engboot root method defaults the cpu governor to performance, causing issues. Anyone who's doing some reading on the forums should be able to find the fixes I did though.
As for going back to stock, that's only once nougat comes out, because I rather be on stock nougat than rooted marshmallow.

Is it a systemless or standard root?

Not really sure? It might be easier to ask in the thread with the root guide.
