5.1.1 performance worse than stock 5.0.2? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
When I purchased my S6 it was on 5.0.2 and I got a geekbench 3 score above 1450 in single core and above 5000 in multiple core, multiple review sites did as well.
However now on 5.1.1 I never get that score any more and the scores on geekbench 3 website for S6 have been dropping, check this link.
https://browser.primatelabs.com/android-benchmarks
For example now I always get below 1300 in single core.
Can you install geekbench 3 from Playstore and report back score and Android version

Thanks

intresting, kernel?

Just enjoy your S6. Its currently the fastest Android smartphone. You probably won't notice the difference in benchmark speeds in real life usage. 5.1.1 is still more stable than 5.0.2.

Uninstalled Geekbench 3, reinstalled it, fixed it.
I noticed in you're screenshot that it says: AArch64
I didn't have such a line of text at all when I got my poor score results which leed me to belive that geekbench 3 was running old school Android 32 bit instead of 64 bit.
Works good now, thanks for helping.

[Q] Is my phone only using one core?

After running a Quadrant Standard benchmark test, I looked at the "System Information" tab. Under the "CPU" heading it reads "Cores: 1." (See attached screenshot)
Is my phone firing on all cylinders or is it only using one core? Does a dual core chip only register one core at a time when it is not running a process that uses both of its cores? Are any of you noticing a similar thing?
FYI: I am rooted running the stock ROM. I'm getting awesome battery life and quadrant scores 2400-2600. It certainly "feels" dual core.
you are using 2.
Quadrant isnt setup for MultiCore phones yet.
Hence... we have a A9 cpu.... your screen shot shows a A7

yep. AFAIK, we are getting very little out of the dual core nature right now. I haven't really seen anything indicating that it isn't used at all, but I'm not sure. It feels a hell of a lot faster than my Evo, but maybe the 1 core + GPU is just that much faster. My guess is the dual core is at least being used by seperate apps, or by system and app processes.
At any rate, as the OS and apps build in more support the phone should work even better.
Smartbench 2011 is the only bench app configured for Multi-Core's right now.

Hi XDA-Forums!
EDIT: I have decided to remove the app from here and publish it on Google Play. Should appear soon on Google Play as free app.
EDIT 2: It is now on Play Store. Get it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.codedivine.rgbench

Thanks. Let me know how it goes, and post your score if you have time.
just downloaded and tried. how long does it take to finish running? I hit run and it seemed like it didn't do anything. there's no progress bar ..and I just stared at the screen for about 30 secs and just closed it. I'm running a nexus 7.

It can take several minutes. Sorry for not specifying earlier.
The reason is that it is testing many different versions of the code, and reports the best performance for your device.
Removed post, no longer valid for new version.
Hi everyone. Thanks for testing. I have now developed a much improved version. Will post new version soon. Do not test this version any more. Thanks for the help!

It does take many minutes to generate the result. On your phone, I would say wait for 5-10 minutes for the score.
Anyway, the version 1.1 should no longer be tested. Will be posting new version soon.
New version
Hi Everyone. I have posted v1.2 now. See attachment in parent post. This should give you much higher performance, almost 2x performance in some cases.
As a reminder, the benchmark runs for a LONG time. It may take 5-10 minutes to give a result on some phones. Please be patient
Some sample results collected from around the web for v1.2
1. Nexus 7 : 1470 MFlops
2. Galaxy S2 (international, Exynos 4410): 890 MFlops
3. Galaxy S2X (T-mobile, Snapdragon S3): 1049 MFlops
4. Transformer TF201 (Tegra 3, 1.3GHz): 1881 MFlops
5. Galaxy S3 (international Exynos 4 Quad): 2189 Mflops
Uploaded a new version (1.2.1) which is basically the same as 1.2, except that I have added a progress indicator.
Please do try it out and give me some feedback. Much appreciated. Thanks
Play Store version is tagged as v1.3.1 and has a small code change from versions I posted earlier. TO avoid confusion, I have removed all APKs frm this thread. Please use the Play store version. Thanks
Some results reported by users:
Nexus 7 (Tegra 3): 1488 MFlops
Galaxy S2X (Snapdragon S3 dual-core): 1175 MFlops
Galaxy S2 (Exynos 4 dual-core) : 998 MFlops
Acer A100 (Tegra 2): 714 MFlops
Tested v1.3.1 on Xperia sola.
Xperia sola(NovaThor U8500,1GHz dual core):651.0 MFlops , 669.0 MFlops
Hello!
It looks great and I want to check it out in my device but there is a problem, Google Play Store won't let me install it saying that it is incompatible, did I forget something?
My phone is LG P350 (Optimus Me) with CyanogenMod 7.2 (Android 2.3.7, obvious). I'd like to check out how well does my device do in this benchmark.
Cheers.

To clarify things, actually a Cortex A9 core can theoretically do 1 double-precision flop every cycle. So if you have a dual-core Cortex A9 1 GHz for example, theoretically the peak is actually 2 GFlops or 2000 MFlops. My benchmark is trying to give you a simple estimate of how close to that peak can you get in practical code. Even my benchmark is not 100% optimized and there is still scope for optimization.
The benchmark is far more accurate than Linpack. "Linpack for Android" is actually not a very optimized benchmark. For example, Linpack is written in Java while mine is written in C++ to get native performance. Also, mine is written to make better use of the cache so that the FPU is better utilized instead of just waiting for memory loads. I wrote the benchmark partl because I was very frustrated by the wrong information that Linpack for Android gives, your phones are all a lot faster than what Linpack reports
For example, there was a research paper recently where researchers show that it is possible to get more than 1000 MFlops on Linpack on an iPad 2 if a properly optimized Linpack is written for the iPad. Given that an iPad 2 has like a 1 GHz dual-core Cortex A9, you can see that the Linpack on Android is nowhere close to optimized.

Hi unfortunately, it only works on phones with processors having ARMv7-A or newer, does not run on your phone. I encountered some bugs while compiling for older processors so had to drop support.

Antutu 4 scores

Did they disable samsung's "cheat" mode on the latest antutu version? The i9500 9505 and htc one scores are very close now. Here's my score compared against the standard s4 in their chart, which i think is the i9505.
what are your scores and thoughts guys?

If you want high Antutu 4 scores, just install the AOSP 4.3 rom in the original development section. Got 29k+ with it. The 3D score got a significant boost at least.
I'm not really into getting high antutu scores I'm just relieved that it looks like the boost mode has been turned off in this antutu version because as I said htc one, the lte s4, and the exynos s4 now have very close scores.
I'm still enjoying the stock touchwiz features so I don't think I'll be using the AOSP rom anytime soon. Thanks for the info btw, appreciate it!
I've noticed higher scores on the note 2 since the recent Antutu 4 update, which is nice I think they were underscoring the note 2 in hopes that you would sell the N2 and buy a new s4. Just my 2 cents though.
My I9500 gets 27017, also on stock TW and no root:
A few more runs and I'm sure it can hit 28000.
GT-I9500
GT-I9505G, running stock and rooted 4.3
Yo with my settings which is I clocked to 2052mhz and other various settings and my score was
28979
I freaked out when I saw it, by the way I do not know why it shows 2322mhz I think because thats the max Ktoonez kernel allows you to clock it, there is no way the phone will allow me to clock it at that and run antutu it will shutdown I have tried it dont you worry lol.
Anyway this is a MASSIVE boost for i9505 my max before on old antutu was 26768 and this was Extremely tweaked, now its just a few tweaks with the kernel, and done.
I also still am on old firmware I havent updated for over 1 month.

Don't give a damn about it. Antutu is meaningless and worthless as hell. But yeah, Adam has lower score than stock, not sure what's the reason. You can flash stock if you wanna see a high score. Also another very important factor is device temp and also ambient temp. I live in India, and average room temp is ~29-30°C here, and my score on stock kernel variate's between 25500-27800. People in colder temperature will get higher scores definitely. You might wanna run it after the phone had some rest (at least half an hour), that'd make a difference.

Scored 28007 on my i9505.
Weird that the i9500 is scoring so low.
We all know the Samsung Exynos 5 Octa is more powerful than the Qualcomm S600, so there is something VERY odd going on with AnTuTu, my I9500 averaged 28100, now it gets 27000 at best.

Right you're.. if we have 4.3 soon then I doubt i9505 would beat us.. and obviously if we overclock cpu and gpu that as much as devilpera64 have i9500 will beat the **** out of other phones. Just you wait till october and I assure you. I9505 will be behind us.

GUYS WHATEVER YOU DO DONT USE QUADRANT PROFESSIONAL BENCHMARK.
THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT. ME AND MY BROTHER HAVE IDENTICAL GT I9500s
I RAN THE QUADRANT PROFESSIONAL FULL TEST AND MY PHONE CRASHED. IT WASNT BOOTING UP FOR ALMOST 15 MINUTES. BUT LATER IT BOOTED. IT WASNT OVERCLOCKED NEITHER WAS MY BROTHERS PHONE. NOW HE UNDERCLOCKED BOTH GPU AND CPU AND DID THE SAME. SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM.
WHATEVER YOU DO DONT JUST USE QUADRANT PROFESSIONAL.
I admit gt i9500 has low score in antutu thats why I went to test with quadrant professional.

Hello fellas.
got the N985f as you know it's loaded with the Exynos 990.
Need to ask if anybody did benchmark his device after the (ATJ1) Update.
Cuz I just did and the results aren't good.
isn't the single-core score should be around 9xx?
