Do you guys have a problem with deleted emails reappearing in your inbox after having already deleted them? I think it is more an android problem than a TF300 problem as my previous android tablet using Honeycomb and Gingerbread did the same thing. I find myself having to delete the same email several times before it finally stops coming back.
I also noticed recently that I am getting a little audible "chirp" when new email arrives along with the visual notification on the bottom right of the screen. Has ICS always been doing this or is it something new?

Well then that could be my problem as I am using the stock email app. Which do you suggest I try?

It could be that you don't have the app set to delete email from the server when you delete, and thus it is resyncing it. The chirp could be stopped by either disabling notifications in the app, or making sure the notification volume is set to 0.

I personally use the Gmail app, but I've good things about kaiten and k9 never tried them though. I had the same problem on my nookcolor with my hotmail email, everytime I opened it I would see old emails.

Possibly your email server is incorrectly configured.

Yeah, I should try kaiten, but there is no free version to try out and it costs 5 bucks to do what looks like the Asus app already does.

Yeah but that leaves the emails on the mail server then when I check my email from my main computer it downloads them again.

I'm running the 4.5 update and it looks real nice. Contact images show up on the emails.

Are you talking about the 4.5 Version? It seems a little "kid-ish" to me. Especially when I am not receiving emails from other gmail users. All I see are random colored blocks with the first letter of everyone's name before the email.
I am not sure if there are more tweaks/features.. but so far I'm not impressed.

Yea the blocks for the highlighted letter of the email is kind of stupid. I do however like the option to finally empty the trash
Sent from my ThunderBolt, soon to be S3
Don't like the blocks.
Don't like when you change archive and delete options to show archive and delete it changes the swipe setting to archive) I was using it for delete.
+1 on being able to empty trash.
im not impressed with it either. its harder to delete email for one, and still no option to delete individual emails instead of the whole "conversation". At least online, there is a setting to turn conversation view on or off. That needs to be in the app as well. and i agree that the colored blocks need to change. the contact pics are ok, but colors aren't. you can shut that off though in the settings....
You can remove the blocks and pics of other users if you wish. There is an option under settings. Since I removed the blocks..... I love it!

Yeah, I dislike that as well. Have to long-press then get the delete option.
I quit using Gmail for my work mail because of the inability to delete individual messages. If someone responds ”thanks”, I have no interest in keeping those !

Evening all
Have just got a Smartwatch 2 and although I'm loving certain things about it, there are a few things that are proving to be frustrating.
I have paired mine with my Galaxy S4 and sadly the stock email app is not supported on the device. So I migrated my Hotmail account into Gmail (which is supported) but having done so, I can only see the first line or two of any email message. This is the case in both alerts and when I try to read the message.
I've tried K-9 but don't like the look of it on either my phone or the watch, so ideally I'd like to stick with the Gmail app if I can get it working properly.
Anyone else had this issue or know of a fix?
Cheers

It's the same for me with my Samsung Galaxy S2. However, via the app WATCHIT, I can read the whole text of the email. Watchit is supposed to only give the notification but it actually puts the whole text, while the specific app of gmail only shows 2 lines...
I am about to uninstall the Gmail App
Can tell me everyone what is the difference between 'toasts' and 'notifications' in the App WatchIt!? Sorry, I'm German and don't know what toasts in this way means. Thanks.

Great tip, thanks for this!
Watchit now installed, Gmail uninstalled and I can now see the full message. Bizarre that this needs to be done but it works!
The gmail app is only supposed to give you the first few lines of the email. It has always been like this - even on the previous smart watches.
Watchit will give you the full email but there is a limitation. If you do not read that email on your phone before getting a second email, you will not get the full email on your watch. Watchit appears to give the same text as what appears in the notification bar on your phone. Receiving more than 1 gmail without clearing the notification will result in watchit not providing the full email to your watch as the information is not available to watchit.
Notifications appear in your notification bar on the phone, meanwhile toasts are those little messages that appear at the bottom of your phone on top of everything and disappear quickly

Hi everyone,
I recently discovered that with the new update of Facebook messenger we can't choose what notification sound we want even if we put a .mp3 in notification directory (in general /sdcard/notification )
But I'm pretty sure that if we found where are located the new sounds of Facebook messenger, we could do a copy/paste of an .mp3 and Facebook messenger will give us the possibility to choose the .mp3 we just copy.
But I search for hours and didn't find anything...
I extracted the contents of .apk of Facebook messenger and found the exact name of different .m4a, and one of them is named baby_giggle.m4a
So I did I search with es file explorer (with root access) and it didn't find anything...
So I don't know what to do now, please some help
Thank you
mog54
Interested to know if there is a fix to this as well.
anyone find a way to change the notification sound on fb messenger ? this is also driving me nuts !
I found a facebook pop sound but the one I hear is similar to a ringing phone but a very quick ring. I also looked in system/app and data/app and found nothing at all. It has to be hiding somewhere in the file system

Anyone find a way?

I'm also trying to figure this out. All the sounds are built into the apk and I don't know how to add to those. The only system notification now allowed is the default one.
I'll have to look on my S3 and see if it's somewhere in the system settings or similar. I can't find it on my Nexus 5 for some odd reason

The sounds that messenger have to choose from are not in a separate folder somewhere. They are zipped up inside the apk at this location.
/data/app/com.facebook.orca-1/base.apk/res/raw
Edit: I just assumed it's using them from that location, but maybe that's not how it works.

That's odd. The only way to change it then would to be to change the contents in the apk file if that's even an option

Yeah. I'm far from a programmer so I can't say but that is the only place I've been able to find the files.

looked at that app, really not seeing any way to let it change the default sound notifications from fb messenger . this just lets you send pre recorded sound clips to users , nothing to do with changing sounds.

You shouldn't have to browse for it. Just put the sound file in the Android Notifications folder and it should show up in the list to pick from within the FB messenger.

MailDroid is my standard mail app, used it on many phones. But I'm having trouble using it on the Mate. When a message comes in the notification sound is cut off very quickly or doesn't sound at all.
The developer says the app works OK on the latest Android, but I think it might be related to the unusual Huawei chipset.
Is anyone else here using MailDroid?
I use it and it works just fin, NO notifications problems.

I am having the same issue. Any resolution? I have tried different stock sounds as well as my own; all get cut off or play for a split second.
Still no fix here. I thought it might be due to the Mate's very strict battery saving. But I've tried all the settings without success.
I know MailDrid's tech support were looking into it - perhaps you could drop them an email?

I sent an email to the Dev. We'll see what happens. I am like you, love Maildroid and have used the paid version for years. I have MD on my Mate8 and I do not have this issue with the notification sounds.
It's a real pain only getting a short beep, always a danger of missing emails coming in.
It doesn't happen with the built-in Mail app, but that is nowhere near as good.
If you hear something, please come back here. I'll do the same.

Thanks. I sent a follow-up email, still no reply. What are you using in replacement in the meantime? I tried AquaMail - seems ok. Blue Mail, Outlook + myMail look nice, but not customizable.
I really need an app that is customizable where I can have multiple accounts, be able to specify Reply-To, etc
I'm using BlueMail at the moment. As you say it's not as flexible but at least you can hear when you get a message.

Try this... activate notifications in the Gmail app. Turn sounds + icon notifications off in Maildroid. Place a Maildroid widget on your Home Screen which shows the badge count of new emails. When Gmail sound-notifies, open via Maildroid. Once the message is read, the Gmail notification icon disappears from Notifications Bar.
PS... still no response from the dev from my 2 emails.

Yes, I've been following it. I'm not at all sure that this is 100% a MailDroid fault. Some other email apps are affected, some aren't.
I gave up. I switched to AquaMail Pro. Very similar and highly customizable. $4.99. No notification/sound issues!
