Anyone using MailDroid? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

MailDroid is my standard mail app, used it on many phones. But I'm having trouble using it on the Mate. When a message comes in the notification sound is cut off very quickly or doesn't sound at all.
The developer says the app works OK on the latest Android, but I think it might be related to the unusual Huawei chipset.
Is anyone else here using MailDroid?

I use it and it works just fin, NO notifications problems.

What settings are you using for Connection Management?
I'm using Stay Connected on WiFi, and Close Connection on mobile with check mail every three minutes. inc while sleeping. I've tried other settings but the problem stays the same.

I am having the same issue. Any resolution? I have tried different stock sounds as well as my own; all get cut off or play for a split second.

Still no fix here. I thought it might be due to the Mate's very strict battery saving. But I've tried all the settings without success.
I know MailDrid's tech support were looking into it - perhaps you could drop them an email?

I sent an email to the Dev. We'll see what happens. I am like you, love Maildroid and have used the paid version for years. I have MD on my Mate8 and I do not have this issue with the notification sounds.

It's a real pain only getting a short beep, always a danger of missing emails coming in.
It doesn't happen with the built-in Mail app, but that is nowhere near as good.
If you hear something, please come back here. I'll do the same.

I have an email into the dev, but no response yet. Did you get a response? How did you contact them? I could have sworn they had a Google+ page or something similar where I posted an issue and within an hour he posted a response. I can't find that group anymore.

I emailed to the address on the Maildog Pro page on Android Play. Got a reply to say they are working on it. If you didn't get a reply I would try again.
They do have a forum but it seems to be disfunctional.

Thanks. I sent a follow-up email, still no reply. What are you using in replacement in the meantime? I tried AquaMail - seems ok. Blue Mail, Outlook + myMail look nice, but not customizable.
I really need an app that is customizable where I can have multiple accounts, be able to specify Reply-To, etc

I'm using BlueMail at the moment. As you say it's not as flexible but at least you can hear when you get a message.

Try this... activate notifications in the Gmail app. Turn sounds + icon notifications off in Maildroid. Place a Maildroid widget on your Home Screen which shows the badge count of new emails. When Gmail sound-notifies, open via Maildroid. Once the message is read, the Gmail notification icon disappears from Notifications Bar.
PS... still no response from the dev from my 2 emails.

Thanks! I'll try that, and give the developer another email

Still no fix or response from dev, There have been (2) updates to the app since our last posts; none fix the issue.

Yes, I've been following it. I'm not at all sure that this is 100% a MailDroid fault. Some other email apps are affected, some aren't.

I gave up. I switched to AquaMail Pro. Very similar and highly customizable. $4.99. No notification/sound issues!

Hi guys im using stock mail app but I don't like that it synchronize gmail, yahoo and Hotmail every 15 minutes... Is there any mail app that synchronize "on time"?

Deleted emails keep coming back

Do you guys have a problem with deleted emails reappearing in your inbox after having already deleted them? I think it is more an android problem than a TF300 problem as my previous android tablet using Honeycomb and Gingerbread did the same thing. I find myself having to delete the same email several times before it finally stops coming back.
I also noticed recently that I am getting a little audible "chirp" when new email arrives along with the visual notification on the bottom right of the screen. Has ICS always been doing this or is it something new?

It could be that you don't have the app set to delete email from the server when you delete, and thus it is resyncing it. The chirp could be stopped by either disabling notifications in the app, or making sure the notification volume is set to 0.

I personally use the Gmail app, but I've good things about kaiten and k9 never tried them though. I had the same problem on my nookcolor with my hotmail email, everytime I opened it I would see old emails.

Using stock email app for a pop/smtp email server, set to do not delete from server, and I do not receive the emails more than once, even after delete.
Possibly your email server is incorrectly configured.

Yeah, I should try kaiten, but there is no free version to try out and it costs 5 bucks to do what looks like the Asus app already does.

Yeah but that leaves the emails on the mail server then when I check my email from my main computer it downloads them again.

[Q] Gmail does not display full message

Evening all
Have just got a Smartwatch 2 and although I'm loving certain things about it, there are a few things that are proving to be frustrating.
I have paired mine with my Galaxy S4 and sadly the stock email app is not supported on the device. So I migrated my Hotmail account into Gmail (which is supported) but having done so, I can only see the first line or two of any email message. This is the case in both alerts and when I try to read the message.
I've tried K-9 but don't like the look of it on either my phone or the watch, so ideally I'd like to stick with the Gmail app if I can get it working properly.
Anyone else had this issue or know of a fix?
Cheers

It's the same for me with my Samsung Galaxy S2. However, via the app WATCHIT, I can read the whole text of the email. Watchit is supposed to only give the notification but it actually puts the whole text, while the specific app of gmail only shows 2 lines...
I am about to uninstall the Gmail App
Can tell me everyone what is the difference between 'toasts' and 'notifications' in the App WatchIt!? Sorry, I'm German and don't know what toasts in this way means. Thanks.

Great tip, thanks for this!
Watchit now installed, Gmail uninstalled and I can now see the full message. Bizarre that this needs to be done but it works!
The gmail app is only supposed to give you the first few lines of the email. It has always been like this - even on the previous smart watches.
Watchit will give you the full email but there is a limitation. If you do not read that email on your phone before getting a second email, you will not get the full email on your watch. Watchit appears to give the same text as what appears in the notification bar on your phone. Receiving more than 1 gmail without clearing the notification will result in watchit not providing the full email to your watch as the information is not available to watchit.
Notifications appear in your notification bar on the phone, meanwhile toasts are those little messages that appear at the bottom of your phone on top of everything and disappear quickly

Are you on a Corporate Exchange Server for your Outlook? The email on watch for Gear 1 was broken, again, from the last update. I recommend Cloudmagic, as it brings the email text to my Gear again. Give it a shot.

I just switched from K9 (only thing useful on my last watch) to the stock email app on my Galaxy S3 (running 4.2). I can now read the entire contents of emails once I open the notification and can refer to them in the email app. BEST FUNCTIONALITY *EVER*!! It's really useful to just pull up the email without pulling out the phone (or even having the phone on me). My boss is tech resistant, but even he thought it was really cool.

There are a few things that could be amiss. Are you using one of the supported phones? Do you have the notifications for email turned on in the Gear Manager?
I've heard that "starting over" will sometimes work. Unpair the watch from the phone. Factory reset the watch. Uninstall Gear Manager. Reinstall Gear Manager. Pair the watch to the phone. Re-enable notifications. ymmv.
Good luck.
I changed the custom rom and now it is working great

Gmail not pushing notifications

I'm new to Honor and EMUI and i'm having trouble with push notifications with Gmail, specifically that it seems to be completely broken and I only know i've recieved email when i manually unlock my phone and check. I've been all through the settings pages of Gmail and EMUI to make sure notifications are on and that Gmail is allowed to run in the background but so far i've not found anything that fixes the issue. It also seems that Gmail is a system process rather than an app so Gmail often doesn't show up in the various app lists for controling battery management/optimisations etc. I'm on EMUI 5 on my UK spec phone if that matters.
Anyone come across this before?
Thanks
Do you have unlimited data enabled for Gmail? My phone had that problem
Nope, that was not enabled. I'll enable it and see what happens.
Is your Gmail app the latest version?

Yup, everything is up to date. There's doesn't seem to be any real logic to it either, sometimes an email notification will come straight through and then another email minutes later wont. I'm pretty sure it's doing for Facebook Messenger too.

Actually, I haven't exempt it from optimization because Gmail doesn't even show up in the list, I think because it's seen as a system process rather than an app.

Issues with stock e-mail app

Hello there!
I've noticed, that sent e-mail are not saved/moved (don't know which mechanism should be) into "Sent" folder. Well... they are, but they're just available from phone - there's no sign of e-mails on webmail or directly on desktop e-mail application (like Thunderbird or eM Client). Does any one experience similar issues?
my email app working good , sending and incoming mails all are good
Is your email account setup as IMAP?
Besides, I remember there's an auto BCC in the Settings menu that you can set to always auto BCC yourself...

I don't have this exact issue, but I noticed that any email more than a week old seems to be removed from the app and has to be searched for manually, especially the starred emails. I'm using a Yahoo account for mine though.

I'm not the OP, but the stock mail app is just a portal to these various email servers. For some reason though, the stock app doesn't continue to store messages older than about a week and you have to search the email server to retrieve them. It's annoying, but it works.
I tried using the Gmail app, but it lacked some of the features I use in the stock app. I also tried inbox and Yahoo's own app but neither of them would connect to my work email account.
So just like the OP, I'm having some issues with the stock app but it works better for my needs than the others. If you're also using the stock app, please chime in with your experience.
