Nexus 5 in boot loop - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I own a Google nexus 5 for about 14 months now and today he suddenly died on me, I was browsing the web when suddenly the screen went dark, I put it in a charger and it kept booting up again and again, I couldn't even get in some sort of recovery system because by the time I wanted to select something it booted up again. At home I tried everything using NRT (Nexus Root Toolkit) but it keeps saying my phone isn't in bootloader mode which is obviouly..
I could really use some help right now, I don't now if it's a software or hardware problem.
It is an international 16 gb nexus 5.
Thanks

Loop
I had that happen once when the battery was really dead, I ended up holding the power and volume down button until it went to bootloader mode then plugged in power from wall unit charger then left it to charge full

[Q] Nexus 5 Boot loop/other issues

Good evening all, I've owned my Nexus 5 for about 6 months, and yesterday for the first time, I had some issues with it. The phone shut it self off and would get stuck in a bootloop, I was eventually able to get the Nexus into the bootloader, but seemingly today, the phone will restart before I can make a selection.
Unless the phone is plugged in, I can't get any response out of it.. any idea?
Looks like a faulty power button to me since it restarts. Could also be a hosed emmc as well.
Hold the power button till the phone completely shuts down and then try to switch it back on. If it's still the same, time to claim warranty.

[Q] Nexus 5 - Phone Will Not Turn On & No Response When Charging

I need your help guys!
I charged my Nexus overnight and in the morning wanted to put a new rom before going to work. I downloaded and flashed [ROM][Kernel][5.0.2][LRX22G] Lollipop Dream [Linaro][Build 10][20150106] ROM via TWRP and installed GAPPS.
I setup the phone with my google account and the phone began downloading previous app purchases. Last time I checked the phone on my way to work the phone was still downloading apps. However when I got to work (15 minutes later) I noticed the phone was powered off. I tried turning the phone on, or turning the phone to recovery but I got not response. Even when I plugged the phone in to the original charger I got no visual response that the phone was being charged.
What can I do to bring the phone back?
Appreciate your help.
Do you get red flashing light when you plug it in? I'm at this situation right now but on stock. Managed to boot the phone by disconnecting the battery and booting it on power supply (plug in battery when you see google) and when it boots up, the battery isn't charging at all.
Just got it into recovery and am wiping the data but been on there for 10 mins so far.

Hi Wolverine,
No I don't get the red flashing light when I plug it in....no visual response at all. I'll try removing the battery, but I found it difficult removing some of the screws (they were pretty tightly installed).
I had that happening yesterday, but I did manage to power it up by connecting the charger and booting with both volume buttons and power. After that it behaved like it should.
No battery charging - did you try to measure it with a multimeter? I'm curious if the charging circuit failed or the battery protection. Either way, good luck with your rma.
Oh btw, how old was your nexus?

How long did you have to connect the charger for?
I didn't try measuring with a multimeter. I purchased this phone about two months ago through a Canadian Carrier (Koodo) and not through Google.
Mine was a present last March so not sure if I can get an RMA from Google! Never dropped the phone, never tampered with it and suddenly it has just refused to charge. Replaced the battery and no difference.
SOLVED!!!!
Yes, so this morning what I did was hit on the back of the phone lightly while pressing the vol+- and power button and to my surprise it turned on. Immediately I restored the 4.4.4 Nexus ROM that was backed up. I think it was a loose battery but don't want to test that rom again.
I held the power button down for maybe a minute ( to trigger a hard power off) . With volume and power it went up in a couple of seconds.

[Q] Phone switches off after few seconds

Hi,
Guys I am going through some **** right now. Plese read the scenarios below and help me. I got no help at the oneplus forums.
Scenario 1 -
My phone was working fine until last night, I mean this is when I last used it. I switched it off and went off to sleep and in school today when I was trying to power it on the boot logo came and it went and after many tries the cyanogen logo came and it went away there is 80% battery. It doesn't charge also, like the phone recognises the charger but remains at 80% when I go to recovery try wiping cache and data, the phone switches off in few seconds. I can go into fastboot and stay for like 3 seconds then the phone switches off but I can connect it to power and keep it. I am on stock, latest CM12S. The only unusual thing I did yesterday on my phone is that I charged it using a different adapter but same cable. I can't seem to find this issue on google.
Scenario 2 -
Guys,
My phone's really messed up and I am scared to tell my dad cause he warned me before getting it for me. After the OnePlus logo comes, when I press the volume button and hold it, it works and as soon as I leave the volume button, the phone switches off. What is wrong? Do I need to send it back. I got it from Oneplus.cn so I am a bit worried and it's going to be tough to check what's happening.
Scenario 3 -
I removed cm12s and tried to flash oxygenos and I failed so then I installed cm11s and still have the problem, my phone can only boot in safe mode and as soon as I leave the volume button it switches off, same for recovery. Used the onplus toolbox by Inthiaano to install CM11S 44S.

Nexus 5 suddenly shut down, won't boot anymore.

Hello,
A couple of weeks ago I noticed, that the battery life on my Nexus 5 was significantly worse. I used to get about 3-4 Hours onscreen time. Now I would only get 1-2.
Sometimes when it reached 0% it did not only shut down, but it also updated all Apps on startup.
Yesterday I walked home at about 11pm and wanted to check some emails, when it suddenly went black with about 80-90% left. After arriving at home I plugged it in with my charger and it booted up again, but only to the point where you see the google colors swirl around (after the google logo). I left it plugged in the whole night.
Today I checked again, it starts to boot but after 2-3 seconds it goes black and starts again at the google logo when plugged in. When not plugged in it sometimes reaches the "Updating Apps" (or updating android something similar) but also after about 10-20 seconds it again starts at the google logo. Also trying to get into recovery mode also causes it to "reboot" to the google logo after a couple of seconds..
Has anyone experienced this before? Google search only led to a broken power button, which I don't think because I Never had problemes with the on/off switch before.
I bought the phone about 1 year ago (+2 - 3 months) from the google store, do I still have warranty? (I'm from germany and the phone is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked)
Thank you in advance and have a nice week
Did you try to enter the recovery while plugged in to a charger ? If it´s still not possible, the device might be fried.
If you´re from Germany and the device is older than 1 year, you´re out of luck. Google up what "Gewährleistung" really means and you will see that chances of obtaining a free repair are very bad
All you could do now is to try to check the phone with a charger attached to it, flash a Factory Image. Replacing the battery is not as complicated if this one is faulty.
Btw, a stuck power button can also cause a device to restart itself.

That happened to me with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. My problem was a haywire USB cable. And another time the charger was not of enough power (I was using my phone's charger on my tab). It used to boot up for a second or two and then switch off. Get your USB cable and charger checked.

Will do. Thanks for the help
If anyone else has other ideas I'd be glad to her them
If you can use another phone I'd recommend "ampere" tho check your charger and cable.

I thInk i bricked my Nexus 5

I was trying to put it to bootloader but it can't go there after some tries so I kept pressing the volume rockers and power button but suddenly , the screen just went all black and now i cant do anything to turn it on and it doesnt even say its charging if i plug it in . Anyways , what can i do ?
I seem to be having the same issue as well. If anyone is able to provide any assistance at all, I would greatly appreciate it.
Leave the phone unplugged for about 10 minutes, then try again.
I find that powering off my phone in the middle of an operation will brick the phone for a few minutes.
The phone has been in this state for the past 4 months or so. I left it unplugged for as long as 2 months after the problem occurred and failing at troubleshooting the issue, and it still wouldn't power on, even when left charging for days.
Another thing to note is that if I plug it in to my computer, there is no indication of it being connected in the Device Manager (on Windows 10).
