cannot see my music files in music player
I was on CM13 20160530 nightly and installed this one 20160610
Now i cannot see my music files in music player (or image files in gallery), but I can see and play in file explorer. :crying: I can also relocate them and moved to PC and transferred back to phone storage. I installed Black Music Player additionally, still no success.

This is only a (most likely stupid) guess but just to rule that out: did you give storage permission to your music player?

yes i did. and new players are supposed to have this enabled by default. Anyway, I tried VLC player and I can browse directory using it and from there I can play my music. This is not a perfect solution, but it does help. I am planning to reinstall CM from recovery boot and do the wipe of cache, dalvik cache, data (not the internal storage data - as they mention while doing wipe). Lets hope it works.

I knew i was wrong Reinstalling sounds like a natural next step, if that does not work you might try it with a full wipe (ie. cache, dalvik cache, data and system) or even trying an AOSP rom in case that error is really somehow related to CM. Just to be sure, i would take backups on a pen drive via otg.

media missing after JB!

NEED HELP!
I have been testing out several JB ROM available out there but I am having the same problem that the phone cannot scan all my media (no pics in gallery other then instant upload, music player got no song). But of coz I can see my files on my comp thru USB. I searched online and ppl suggested to clear cache on media and use rescan media but both not work.
edit: I go back to CM9 (ICS ROM) now and everything works fine...

clear the cache, going into settings/apps/all/gallery then music .../ and clear
then go to your sd card/android/data/ and clear the folders linked to the gallery (3dgallery blablabla) and the music player.
reboot your phone and dont touch for about 3 min to let it scan your sd card
thanks for suggestion but this doesn't help... i clear cache on gallery and music, delete com.android.3dgallery (no music folder in data) and reboot... wait... same thing

if your ROM Manager's version is v5.0.1.3, the issue cause by it. it has a bug that places .nomedia file in the wrong directory if directories are missing.
upgrade ROM Manager
del sdcard's .nomedia file that you don't need (especially root path's one)
reboot and the media service will scan you sdcard
after a few minute, you can see your media files again

Thank you so much. I completely wiped my phone and started from scratch and wasn't able to fix the problem. Now I read this and bingo, that was the problem. If I only I would have waited a day to wipe everything (I didn't back up because I figured that the error would have happened when I restored it too). But anyway thanks again!

Yeah I know that now, I just didn't know soon enough. lol Thanks though
I too have same problem. I updated ROM manager. Also deleted .nomedia file from root and few other directories.
But my music player is still unable to detect audio files. I even formatted sd card.. no luck.
I can only play individual audio files thru file explorer (astro)
Please suggest!
I resolved deleting .nomedia file in android/data folder

[Q] memory card free space problem

I am using darkforest with faux kernal for last 3 months. But now I am getting a free space problem. When I check my storage it shows some temporary files of Htc.And when I am trying to delete it it also delete my all mp3 files. But if I back up my Mp3 and then delete and again restore then I got both my free space and music file.It only last for few days then it shows again that my memory card is full. Can any one suggest any thing?
Hmmm. Did you try changing music player? But by default(which also means default music player) there shouldn't be any temp files created by htc too.
Try going into recovery and wipe dalvik + cache + fix permission.
I personally dont think its a kernel problem. It might be the ROM's though.

Also: try to copy just one file to the internal SD-card, search it up in the gallery, and then move it back to the external SD. Sometimes this triggers the system to read the files.
If you have tried everything mentioned here, and nothing works: make backup of the SD card and format it. Then move everything back. This should work, but it's the most time consuming so try the other things first
Hope I helped, and have a nice day

Walkman shows every song twice in the music library!

I've no idea what's causing this.
Every song in the music library is shown twice.
What could it be?

1. Use a file explorer to verify if there aren't copies.
2. Make sure that you're using one source (that your phone isn't connected to your music library on your pc)
3. Clear data&cache from WALKMAN (you'll lose playlists and settings)

I cleared the cache, nothing happened.
Actually I noticed that Walkman isn't the only app that's been affected... Album, PlayerPro, Play Music... All of 'em.
Every photograph in Album in displayed twice. I checked my SD Card, there are no copies.
This is Weird!!!
Aw, and... This isn't happening to video files. Photos and songs are the only ones affected.
And sorry if all of this sounds vague...

This happened to me before. It was on a custom 4.2.2 rom, I forgot which. It had a script which mounted the internal SD card twice, one as /sdcard0 and another as /sdcard1. I think it was a swap script. Someone from that thread provided a patch. Are you using a custom rom?

sdcard0 is usually internal storage and sdcard1 is usually the external sd card. what do you mean by this?
I'm sure u changed ur internal with external memory. U can wait til it will fix itself or u can flash stock room again delete album Walkman etc and then exchange storage after that u can install them again

Yup, I did that. Nothing happened.
Aw, and, play music works just fine, nothing wrong with it.
Walkman, album and player pro are malfunctioning.
But... This doesn't happen to the items I added recently to the library.
Seriously?
Am I the only one facing this problem?

Nope! You aren't the only one, I faced the same issue..
Here is what I did:
1. Settings -> Apps -> All
2. Clear Data & Cache of all the apps listed below:
> Media Storage [IMPORTANT]
> Albums
> Play Music
> Walkman
> Movies
3. Restart
Done!
