Now how to solv that problem ( dont wanna root XD )
You don't have to root your phone in order to update it. Just flash the stock rom via odin (samsung recovery)
Sent from my SM-G920F using XDA Free mobile app

Have you contacted your carrier? Of course, if it's an unlocked phone you probably need to wait for Samsung to find you.
Frankly, I would not worry too much. The only things I noticed were 1) turn off/on the S Finder and Quick Connect on the notification screen and 2) an A-Z button on the App Drawer. Hardly critical issues. I noticed no change in RAM usage or battery usage. Both were fine before the update and still are.
Up up up

Go to Sammobile, search for SM-G920F, choose whatever country you prefer which have the 5.1.1 update. Click it, choose the 15 kb/s download. Takes an hour or two, but it's free.
Also when you have clicked the link there is instructions at the bottom. Attached it tho, for making it easier.
For making it easier for you. Here is the France version: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/48616/G920FXXU2BOFJ_G920FOXA2BOFJ_XEF/
You can't **** much up, else you're on XDA and you're almost always sure someone can help you fix your issue. As long as you just try to flash the SM-G920F version you can only soft brick your device and it can always be fixed.
Remember to choose the .tar file you downloaded in the PDA/AP file in Odin.

Hi guys , first post here. I got a new note 10.1 and as soon as possible i conected it to my PC through kies too ser if jelly bean was already available for me. It wasnt ( here in Brazil cell upgrades take a while ) . A few weeks later, after installing some programs, kies does not even searches for firmwares. And if i manually asks it to look for firmware upgrades, it says my device does not support initializing. Ive already reinstalled it but the problem is still there. Kies recognizes and upgrades my Galaxy s2. The tablet is non rooted and i already uninstalled other launchers. I appreciate any comments.

A guide on how to reinstall stock firmware without flashing by using KIES
Unfortunetly when i get até this point " Just go up to the top bar and choose firmware upgrade and initialization." ( third image ) , Kies says* my device does not support initializing.
Go to Sammobile and download the software for your region, Download ODIN and flash with that.
Don't know how to use ODIN, use search... ODIN has been around since the 1st Android Samsung phone....

Ok, but i still have other questions:Will I void my warranty? Do I have a faulty unit? If I hard reset , will the result be the same? Tks in advance.

Hello ,
Does anyone have and care to share the OTA zip file for the korean version of the Edge SM-N915K?
Thank you ~
PS: In case someone else is also wondering , you can flash the stock firmware via ODIN from here :http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/39807/N915KKTU1ANK5_N915KKTC1ANK5_KTC.zip/ without wiping data .( at least for me)
You can re-root afterwards if wanted .
Cheers~
Find the appropriate firmware for your device using Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Firmware Browser'.
You can find firmware for any device by changing the Model name and CSC textbox.

Hi I'm on 3 network and I have no sign of the 5.1 update OTA or even on smart switch is there a reason for this I'm getting rather impatient no info at all about when I'll be receiving it I'm getting a little worried especially with it not showing on smart switch everyone seems to have it on smart switch apart from me am I the only one who sees no sign of the update thanks
I read some thing about 3 putting up 5.1.1 then taking it down to add security for the stagefright issue.
I guess will not be to long.

If you modify your phone ( root ) you will loose the option to update ( OTA update ).
If you want to update you phone you will have to download firmware and flash with Odin. Everytime that you update firmware you will have to re-root you phone again.

Generally yes ( mainly with rooting )
You can backup your app/data by using something like Google backup service or smart switch ( PC app ).
Hey guys,
Hopefully I'm not requesteing a completely useless thing cause I haven't found a fix so far. Since it's somehow related to firmware flashing via Odin, I chose to ask in this thread.
I bought my Galaxy S8+ a while ago and carrier unlocked it (It was on Vodafone Romania). Ever since unlocking the carrier, I can't seem to receive any firmware updates for some reason.
Smart switch says I'm at the latest firmware version but according to Sammobile, I'm far from being at the last version. (Still Android 8 on it)
My phone is not rooted (I haven't felt the need to root it so far because it's been doing great). Any ideas how can I fix this and install the latest firmware?
If I download the latest Romania firmware from sammobile (carrier-free version) and flash it through Odin, would it work or I'd encounter a difference because the CSC is Vodafone Romania?
Thanks!
Hey is there a way to root the SM-G975U with security update on july 1, android pie, and a way to unroot? (like the stock rom files)
Thanks
