Hi all,
after replacing a cracked touchscreen from my g350 I experienced no service issue, even if the signal was full and when i tried to connect manually to my operator it shows it correctly but fails to connect saying "try later", so i decided to factory reset the phone and now i have no signal at all and there is no way to manually select the gsm network, IMEI is correct and i'm pretty sure to made no damage to the antenna while replacing the digitizer.
Any idea?

My Motorola Milestone XT720 phone all of sudden crashed while charging last week. I eventually got it to recover and boot, but then it went extremely hot and shut down. After removing the sim and SD card, then rebooting it, the phone turned back on. I reinserted the sim, but it won’t connect to my mobile network or to a wi-fi network. I got Sim replaced from Wind mobile and it still wouldn’t work, but my sim works in a old phone.
The phone seem to search for the network and finds Wind and Wind Away, but it won’t connect to Wind Network and goes to emergency call mode only. At one point, it did find the Wind Away network and connected to data, but not the home network. I did a factory reset with no luck, then a manual reset and still wont connect to the network. Finally today I downloaded RSDLite and flashed an SBF, but it still won’t connect to a network.
I almost think the internal antenna doesn’t send out a signal, but am not sure what else I can do to test the phone.
Any ideas or suggestion on why it won’t connect to wind home?
Hey there,
Looks like the baseband (modem) in your phone is fried. Could you dial *#06# and check if it appears 15-digit number ? Your best bet would be to flash stock rom with rsd lite and then wipe through stock recovery.
Hope it helps.

I cracked my screen and essentially damaged the digitizer as touches couldn't be registered at all, so I ordered a newbie off Aliexpress and using the guide on iFixit, I repaired it myself. It booted perfectly and everything works fine EXCEPT for a weird issue I'm having with my cellular data and the network itself not registering properly or something.
I've a SIM card and plan with Vodafone Australia and basically the phone:
- sometimes registers 4G/LTE, but never 3G and 2G didn't seem to want to work
- can sometimes send/receive texts (at random)
- can't make or receive calls
- cellular data absolutely doesn't work at all, nothing will load. I think there was only 1 occasion where half a web page loaded, but that could have been cached
- when the network 'disappears' either I just have a blank network bar in the status bar or sometimes I also get a triangle in the status bar and in the notification pull down area it reads "NO SERVICE - selected network (Vodafone AU) unavailable"
- I also occasionally get a warning that says "Restricted access changed - Data service is blocked" - I called Vodafone and they said there is no blocking or barring service in place on my SIM/service and that the SIM should work with any device it's in
- the device even shows details like signal strength -95 dBm and 43 asu, shows Vodafone AU as my network and even automatically loads the correct APN settings
- I tried an OPTUS Australia SIM and the same thing happened, registers network, shows signal strength, APN etc, but nothing works!
Prior to doing the repair I was using a Telstra 4G SIM and everything worked flawlessly right out of the box. Never an issue. I'm pretty sure both providers even run on the same bands.
I have tried the following to solve the problem, to no avail:
- different ROM and kernel (stock CM11S, Temasek CM12 w/ AK kernel)
- fastboot erase modemst1 and modemst2
- different modems (44S, 05Q)
- changing settings in *#*#4636#*#* menu (LTE/GSM auto, and the rest)
All I have left to try is to go see my provider and request a new SIM.
I'm thinking maybe something happened when I disassembled the device, like I may have damaged the part of the main board where the SIM registers. Could this be the cause? Surely not,as I do get that temporary LTE registration...
Also note that I'm 99.99% sure it's an international device, not a Chinese one, as it came with CM11S and the Aliexpress seller told me so.
Any advice? HELP!!!
Never mind. Realized I hadn't connected the antenna back to the main board. As I was putting the main board back in, I tore off the flex cable that connects the volume rockers to the main board. I now have a 1+1 with no working volume buttons. What a waste of 5 hours and a few hundred dollars. That'll teach me to DIY.

That just teaches you to be careful. We have all done it from time to time. I tore a bunch of flex cables in my time. Now I don't. It is all a learning process
Similar Problem
I have a similar problem. After replacing my screen I have no service unless I have line of sight to a cell tower. I mean REALLY close, and stepping behind a wall will make the signal disappear entirely. I'm assuming there was damage to the antenna in some way, does anyone know where I can get a replacement antenna or have any other solution for me? Everything is connected properly, no apparent damage, works great IF I can see a tower and am in close proximity.

Similar problem here.
After replace my screen I got poor signal. The reason I replace the screen is because of water. I still get signal but not as good as before. I also lost signal sometimes. I wonder if it because of the water too.
I don't think it's because the flex cable. I've double check, the cable is attached correctly. I've tried to unplug the cable and turn it on. I can see the difference, when the cable is unplug I got no signal at all. If it's because of the water then which part should be replaced?
Hi! I'm having some mayor problems with my OnePlus One.
For some time I have had problems getting calls and sms when using 4G but it seemed to be a problem with my carrier but 2 weeks ago I dropped my phone and the screen broke so I bought a new screen and replaced it. After that the connection to my carrier dropped randomly and now after trying to fix it in different ways I can't get any connection at all with any carrier !
What I have tried so far:
Factory reset
Reinstalled CM
Put paper under the sim for tighter fit
Turned the radio off and on and restart phone
Change pin code
Replace sim-card
Tried different carriers on my phone (my simcard worked on other phones so it is the OPO that is the problem)
Total restore by fastboot-flashing
Installed OxigenOS 2
Tried all modems from the modem collection on CM and Oxigen.
Retyped the APN by hand
Opened the phone again and checked that all cables are connected well
Tried manualy connect to my carrier under Network Operators
For a short time of maximum 10 seconds I got a 4G connection twice in now 3 days of trying but then it stops working again. It feels like a hardware problem BUT I can see a lot of different carriers under Network Operators but when trying to connect it loads for ever and then says "Can't register to your carrier". I called my carrier and thay said nothing was wrong from their end and when I tried on other phones it worked flawlessly.
I'm really out of ideas now and I don't know where to go from here. I really hope someone of you knows that might be the problem!
Thank you so much!
If imei present you can try mobile phone exchange offer on flip kart like online stores. When this happened to my phone I did it , very easy.
Sometimes opo dont search available network or wont register on any network.
Sulution: go to access point and reset it to default first then go to network and try to search for network n if ur able to search then try ro register manually and if it does not work then go to dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#* then click phone info and select the lte/gsm ato prl mode and then click turn radio off and again tuen it onn then smsc refresh and update ( i dnt remember it correctly) if that dnt help then ur network antena is damaged
Hello all,
Here are the specs of the trouble phone:
Pixel 3a XL
Android Version 11
Kernel 4.9.232-ga8a0fbc4fb8e-ab696031
So yesterday I dropped my phone a little too hard and the screen stopped working. No damage, just would not turn on. I've replaced the screen myself quite a few times so I thought the internal connection had disconnected. I reset the connection but it didn't seem to fix it, so I took it to a phone repair shop. They did a diagnostic but told me they couldn't work on the phone because some of the graphite coating on the phone interior was scraped off (I accidently did that a preivous time when I was replacing to screen). They told me that the graphite was needed for connections and the motherboard might be broken so they wouldn't test any new screens and I should just recycle the phone?? mind you the phone was still working, vibrating and making noise so that didn't make any sense to me. I thanked them for nothing and left the store.
I tried to reset the screen connection and whatever they did to diagnose my phone actually made the screen work again. I think it was some kind of reset, I noticed all my app preferences were gone and my lock screen changed but I still had all my apps and such. Everything seemed to work except that I could not connect to my WiFi network. Upon entering the password and attempting to connect I am returned with a "failed to connect to network" pop-up immediately. It doesn't seem to be trying to connect at all, it just immediately fails. I can still see all the wifi networks around me, and I can connect to LTE. I can't figure out what is wrong, I've gotten this error with multiple different WiFi networks, cleared the wifi settings, tried it in safe mode, restarted; all have had no effect. I even tried a wifi app and it just returned "failed to connect, enable and disable wifi and try again", which does not change things either.
I noticed that my google play update still shows October 2020, and says I need to restart my phone to finish to update. Restarting has no effect though. I think the restart was pending when I dropped my phone, so the repair store's diagnostic may have messed something up with the update. Should I do a factory restart worse case? I can't figure out if this is even a hardware or software problem, the antennas should be fine if I can still detect WiFi sources but I don't know. Any ideas?
Hello people. Have one S20 with a weird problem. After I did a factory reset, the device refuses to connect with Wifi. The phone finds the available networks, but it won't connect and returned me a messages, no Internet available, Unable to connect with the Internet,.... bla bla bla. I have no idea, whether that phone been worked at all. It was locked with PIN and I've been asked to wipe the phone and after that, I can't proceed, because I can't jump over that step. Put another SIM card and it shows me that the Airplane mode is activated. After all, attempts I flashed the phone with the newest Android 11...but no change.
Read a couple of articles, that this is a motherboard problem or a Wifi chip, not sure. Any ideas? Thanks.

So that usually happens when the router is sending out a signal but the modem/router isn't actually connected to the internet. I suggest you restart your modem, then restart your router.

I did that, but no change. Every other device connects normally with that router, only that phone won't.
That phone has two SIM slots and I found that the first IMEI number is blacklisted. But the IMEI 2 is not. Is it possible to use the phone with the second SIM card and second IMEI, if the first one is blacklisted?
