T-Mobile Z3:
Cons:
One Color (blk)
Carrier Crapware
Potential bootloader locked (all the other Tmo Xperia were)
Pro:
32GB of storage
Unlocked Z3:
Cons:
16GB of Storage
Pro:
Colors!
Unlockable through Sony Dev
My current dilemma is trying to decide which version to go with. Sony international devices have more support and in general get updates before carrier versions. The only reason the Tmobile version is an option is the 32GB of storage. I play a lot of games and right now I have to juggle with adb backup as quite a few are above 1GB ( Baldur's Gate is 3GB+ by its lonesome). That said, I could titanium backup a game to the sdcard on the go, but that would be a potential PITA.
Anyone make a similar decision with the Z1s and have regretted it or vice versa?
I'm definitely getting the unlocked version. I'll just buy a high quality 64/128 GB micro sd card.

Are you sure that T Mobile will only have black? The Z came in black, white, and purple...
Yes, T-Mobile Z3 is only in the black , you can go and check the Z3 white paper and it's only in black and 32 Gb
There is a different also about it and that is this version of phone support band 12 and that is the new frequency that T-Mobile bought from Verizon ( 750mhz ), I'm sure about the coverage of it, but that would be a big deal cause T-Mobile is really advertise on that specific band for end of this year to increase the LTE ...
So if anybody else has any information regard of this let us know.
The "bloatware" on the T-Mobile version should not be considered an issue. The 32GB of internal storage makes up for that, and T-Mobile "bloatware" is more function than anything else.
If you want WiFi calling, the best LTE performance, 32GB internal storage, etc on T-Mobile, buy the T-Mobile version (D6616).
The only con in my eyes to buying the T-Mobile version is lack of color options. Oh well, I'll get over it and be happy with the black.
Damn. I was looking forward to a green one.
I think the biggest con on the Tmo version is the carrier update cycle. Typically you're months behind on Android updates compared to OEMs.
Locked bootloaders are another big negative as it's useful for development.
That's any carrier, now the bootloader is what I'm waiting to hear about.
Ulockable bootloader = no buy. At least for me.
International vs. T-Mobile: FREQUENCY BANDS

This is important: aside from whether boot loader will be locked or not, or whether getting 16 or 32 GB internal storage is a big or not, WHAT ABOUT THE FREQUENCY BANDS?
I assume that most people looking to get the T-Mobile model D6616 have T-Mobile as their carrier, and would prefer to have the proper frequency bands supported for LTE.
Can anybody elucidate what the implications are for a T-Mobile user getting: 1) the international unlocked version, or 2) the T-Mobile version?

This is what I wanna know, I really want the green color, and my thought is that I'll get the international because I don't mind the lack of 32gb. The international has every frequency the US one does except band 12 and my current GS4 doesn't have that anyway. I don't feel like I'd miss it. I'm not sure what it does anyway or if it would even affect me in MN/WI.
I would like to keep Wi-Fi calling though, and I'm assuming it would be possible to install the T-Mobile ROM on the international model. Is this right?

Hmm, I would think that installing T-Mobile ROM ought to be possible. Whenever I flashed ROMs on Nexus 4 or HD2, there was always a way to restore factory ROM settings.
International version is the wise choice

I assume the international version will be the D6643, has all the LTE of D6616 and then some. The other two might be Pacific/Japanese versions.

You will not have the future Band 12 but all other Bands are there
You will also not be able to take advantage of WiFi calling, VoLTE (I think)

DOH!!! That's what I meant!
Wait...
So you guys are saying that there is not a "Sony" version for the US for the Z3 as it is for the Z2? I mean, you can buy the Z2 on Sony web or retailers, and it is pretty much the international version but works great in the US... So, are you saying that only a T-Mobile (and yes maybe Verizon, Sprint, etc, etc) will be available in the US and not just the "Sony" version?

I'm thinking about getting this one
http://www.gsmnation.com/unlocked-sony-xperia-z3-dd6603.html
This should work on tmobile lte right? It says 1700/2100 bands, which are tmobiles lte bands i believe.
Also, how will this one be different than the one that sony is announcing in the US next week?
this one is 16gb while tmobile version is 32gb if it matters to you

Hmm I guess that won't make a difference, especially with micro sd slot.
The D6603 will work great on Tmobile. Its missing band 12 I believe but I have not noticed a difference in 4G capability between this and a phone with Band 12 in the Phoenix or Los Angeles area. I wish I had the 32gb but that's mitigated with the SD card. Plus I get to avoid any Tmobile branding (if any) on the phone and I get the phone N-O-W!!!!!
Also on another note, you have access to a lot more LTE bands if you travel abroad a lot....with tombile's cheap LTE rates in other parts of the world this is also something to consider!
Please post questions in the Q&A section

It won't have T-Mobile's WiFi Calling capabilities.
from past experiences (z1s didn't have an unlockable bootloader), the z3 t-mobile version might have a locked bootloader too
just something that you should keep in mind, especially when you're on xda (where users are most likely to want to unlock their bootloaders)
From my experience the locked bootloader on the t-mo XZ didn't bother me as much as I originally thought it would. As long as there's some decent development (+ root without the need for unlocking obviously), custom stock Sony ROM's have been more than enough. The dev for what I think is the best stock rom on XZ isn't getting this one which is kinda a bummer. I'm going back and forth between this one and the new Nexus.
It appears that the T-mobile version won't be nearly as far behind as the XZ was.
Hey guys,
I am looking into getting the Sony Xperia Z3. I just have one quick question.
A while back I purchased the Xperia Z (C6602) from sony directly and I used it on tmobiles network. After purchasing the phone I found out that tmobile sold the (C6603). These phones are similar, however they do have different specs.
My main question is, is there any difference between the Xperia Z3 that tmobile is selling compared to the Xperia Z3 that is sold directly by sony? (other than the available colors)
Thank you for your help!!!

Two things primarily: The T-Mobile model has 32 GB of RAM vs. 16 GB and its bootloader is locked.

Also the T-Mobile one has LTE Band 12 which no other model has.
You mean 32gb storage, it has 3gb of ram
Tmobile version has band 12 and wifi calling.
And the T-Mobile is only in black and carrier branding...no thanks!

Reason I would reccomend, TMO version is the 14 day replacement/exchange period. I went through 3 and on 4th and possibly final one. If you buy from Sony directly you will be stuck without a device for weeks if you send it in due to defects only to probably get a refurbished one.
The TMO emblem is pretty conspicuous unlike Verizon so that should not be an issue.

I think you mean to say "inconspicuous" . Anyways I agree, looking at it, it's also a much lighter shade of gray/white than the Xperia or Sony logo, so it actually blends in quite well. There's also no T-Mobile branding on the front, which is really nice.
Hardware differences:
32GB Storage
T-Mobile Branding on back
Band 12
Software:
Bloat: http://imgur.com/oXLCzjj
Bloat not removed: wifi hotspot needs hotspot on plan, Device Unlock
Bloat that needs PM BLOCK: CarrierIQ
No bootloader unlock
I believe only the T-Mobile version has wifi calling.
You can opt out of Carrier IQ, the bloat is not so bad actually fewer than most carriers and they can all be disabled. For the extra 16GB its worth it. Only thing for you to care about is the boot-loader unlock. WiFi calling is also a plus.
Is it possible for me to flash the US D6616 T-mobile rom onto my D6603 or will it brick it.
I am too impatiant to wait for the EE software to be released to allow me to use thier wifi calling service?
Thank you
Yes it will brick don't do it.. There are plenty of lollipop ftfs for d6603 just not tmobile.
Thank you, i think I'll wait for EE uk to release there one.
I was only interested in the T-mobile US version because i wanted wifi calling! For now i am running the US version.
wifi calling on ee is not supported on the z3
Not supported at all, or is it likly to arrive later on?

Obviously only Apple and Samsung are in line... they think they cover most with two major players.
I did some hunting on the web yesterday and I couldn't find anywhere to buy a SM-P905 tablet - the international version, not the Verizon version. I found one on eBay, but I was outbid. I even tried eBay.UK and eBay.ca, but no luck. It seems like you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Verizon tablet, but the international versions are like hen's teeth.
I prefer manufacturer refurbished or used, due to price. Anyone know where I can find one?

the Note Pro LTE version are the same, the only difference is software, their hardware is the same. I open the P907A from AT&T and P905V from Verizon, they look exactly the same inside. Other Note Pro P900 also is the same, the only difference is software customized for certain region, like UK version has more languages than US version, they are the same tablet. If I flashed firmware of UK to an US tablet, it will become an UK tablet. I used to flash Korean firmware to an US tablet when its firmware had some issue with bluetooth keyboard.
If you want your tablet has your native language, then just flash the firmware which has that language.
If you want to use different carriers, buy an unlocked one, I have unlocked Verizon which I can use with other carriers such as TMobile, AT&T, or Cricket.
Interesting Beut . . but are the carrier branded versions of the 905 sporting an unlocked bootloader such that custom recovery and custom ROMs can be flashed?
I would venture to guess that this is what the OP is looking for and why they specifically want the international version rather than a US carrier branded one.
Honest question - I have no idea if the bootloaders are still locked, I do recall discussion about the 905V having a locked bootloader at one time though.
Muzzy, you are correct. The fundamental difference between the Verizon P905 and the International carrier versions is the locked bootloader. Verizon has Samsung lock the bootloader. International carriers do not.
I understand what Beut is saying, and yes, the hardware is the same. But that doesn't matter when the software is locked down.
I am also looking for an international P905, I would be very thankful for any tips where to find it in Europe!
