I changed my battery in my Nexus 5 today and I thought everything went smoothly until I booted up and had no service. Does anyone have any experience with this problem or have a solution?
I have already flashed back to factory, removed and inserted my sim card, and tried putting my old battery back in. I didn't remove any antenna cables either (the black and white ones on the sides of the battery).
I googled and ran into this thread, but I'm not sure if the OP ever fixed his problem, and seems to have gone inactive since the post.

Thanks for the reply. I made sure everything was connected even though I didn't touch the antenna cables when replacing the battery. I'm trying to figure out what it possibly could be.
Yeah something isn't connected properly
I made sure everything was connected properly. I only removed the battery cable and the ribbon cable next to it to replace the battery. I'm really wondering what it could be. The black and grey antenna cables seem to be properly and snuggly connected. Is there something else on the phone that can effect cell service?
The phone reads that a sim is inserted and can read the phone number off of it, but cannot draw cell service for some reason.

Hello! Tonight I replaced the touch screen digitizer in my phone because I had badly cracked my last one. The new touch screen works and the phone is fully functional now with the exemption that the phone now says it has no bars and it doesn't appear to be reading my sim card now.
Can anybody give me advice or insight into anything I might've done wrong re-adssembling the phone ?? Any suggestions for getting it working?? Im opening it up and re-connecting everything to make sure none of the connections were loose and thats not causing the problem. Also, using a different sim card did not help.
Edit: I reconnected the connectors on the motherboard and sim reader and it still is not getting service. I guess Ill continue to fiddle with it until somebody throws some better suggestions at me.
Another edit: You guys can delete this I fixed it. I had folder this little connector attached to a wire under the motherboard...haha.
make sure all the ribbons are connected there is quite a few to push down and m,ake sure there seated properly
Up until this afternoon I have been using my One X without issue running CleanROM 4.5. I took my phone out of my pocket and suddenly I got an error saying the SIM card is no longer detected. I immediately turned on airplane mode and then turned it off again, advice I remember reading from other people with similar issues, however it didn't fix the problem. Thinking it was possibly a contact error, I took the SIM out and put a piece of tape on the back and reinserted it, to no avail. I tried adding another piece of tape to make sure; again, nothing. I backed up everything and wiped the phone, and installed RebelMOD to see if it was potentially an OS issue; unfortunately, the different ROM makes no difference.
Am I SOL here on a software-related fix? Is it possible the SIM slot just went bad all of a sudden? I tried another SIM card from my work phone but it was not detected either, while the SIM from my phone was detected in my work phone. All of this points to a hardware issue, but I'm wondering where it came from and why it happened so suddenly, as well as what my options are.
Thanks in advance!

I'm having the same problem here, I had the phone for like 2 month and last week all in a sudden
no more reception as the phone doesn't detect the sim card anymore. The worst came after, I tried to open my sim tray with that HTC pin provided with the phone, and instead of opening it damaged the metal slot and couldn't get my sim card out. So now I m without phone as I had so bring back to JB Hifi and they had to send it over east for repair as the warranty goes through Fone biz and told me I have to wait 2 weeks for it to get repaired and sent back. Has anyone been throught that?
Thanks
Sudden SIM Destruction!!
I had that same thing happen, i was playing a game and all the sudden i heard a pop and no sim message appeared! My warranty wont cover because i have a tiny hairline crack on my screen! can anyone please help!
A pop is bad. Probably not easily repaired. For the others you could try a piece of tape on the sim give it a tighter fit up against the contact in the phone or purchase a new sim tray

Hey guys,
so, few days ago i accidentally dropped my pohne; well not really dropping it but i didn't see something on the ground and fell over it... Phone was in my pocket the whole time... i didn't check it afterwards cause in the middle of the night you can't really see anything, and i thought in my pocket it shouldn't get damaged. So yeah... the morning after i recognized it doesn't connect to my provider anymore, tried out several other sim cards, no success. Most of the time it now just shows the empty signal icon, sometimes it connects to my provider but when it does signal is very weak and only e network h/h+ doesn't work completely, but it disappears after few seconds.
What i tried so far:
- reflashing ROM with fullwipe (/system wipe aswell); thought it was a rom derp first
- opened the phone and disassembled it, checked mainboard, usb board and antenna for cracks etc. couldn't find anything... looks like new, the only "crack" is my volume keys seem to have taken a bit damage and are now split in half... everything else is fine, screen no scratches etc
So yeah now i'm quite clueless what could've been damaged... since everyting else works completely fine only mobile network/internet doesn't work... could my antenna be damaged?
I thought about buying a replace antenna and testing if that works.... any other ideas?
Thanks in advance
Hi all
I have had my nexus 5 for a while now and just as i was flying overseas some strange things happened.
First the vibration stopped working which i knew was a loose connection on the back of the phone. Holding that area down would get it working again. Then the touch display stopped working. The LCD worked but could not touch anything to unlock the phone. I disassembled the phone and assembled it again and strangely it worked again although i didnt see anything obvious. Then is happened again...
I disassembled the phone and played around with it for a while and noticed if pressed down on the connection where the flex cable connects to the motherboard it would work again. but when i would release the pressure it would be funny again. I did this a number of times until eventually the whole LCD/blacklight should shut off. Now i can rarely get it to display anything. The phone is working because the LED light would flash and i can hear the messaged coming through. I just cannot see anything.
I replaced the flex cable with a new one and still the same issue. I replaced the LCD + digitizer + frame and still the same issue. I guess its the motherboard. Can i fix this ??
Now for some more issues:
I bought a broken Nexus 5 while overseas and i swapped the motherboard out and everything works! So it as definitely the motherboard. However, the second motherboard is having issued the the battery. I have every indication the battery is charging. However the battery percentages is stuck on 40%. It would flicker around 39% 40% instantly and when looking at the battery graph on the phone it is noisy, it is not a constant line. The percentage is not a true indication of the battery charge. I cannot get the phone to turn on just by the battery itself no matter how long i charge it for. I have swapped batteries out and i still get the same issue. I have swapped flex cables and still the same issue. Could it be that the second motherboard is also damaged??
I used the amphere app for a while while i had some power and it shows 100mA while charging but a voltage of 0V! When I unplug the cable it will shutoff. Sometimes i cannot even boot it up while charging.
Amphere showing 1%

What is wrong with these two motherboards?! I do not see anything obvious on the board itself.
I now see the new Nexus 5X is out but i am hesitant in buying it...This is the first phone i have had major issues with.
PS, i gave the latest updated
Thanks for your help guys. I will provide whatever information i can.
It sounds like your 1st phone is having the same problem I have with mine, which is described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/main-board-socket-flex-cable-super-t3217281
Use a magnifying glass to see if any pins on the socket are broken. I still don't know if it's fixable.

Hey guys. So the LCD went out on my 3a a while back. I bought the parts and replaced it myself (I've done these before so I wasn't lost). I ended up replacing my battery, loud speaker, fingerprint scanner and a couple other parts as well, because why not? Also replaced both antenna cables (white and black). Anyway, after getting everything all put back together, I installed my SIM card and it recognizes there's a SIM installed, but signal never comes in. No cell signal or internet. Any ideas on a cause or a fix? I triple checked everything before setting the screen in the adhesive and everything was connected correctly. Thanks in advance!
Silly question but did you try to restart the phone?
Yesterday I had an accident and my phone slipped from my pocket a screen/glass got broken :/
Can you tell where did you bought the screen and is it the same quality as original one? Thanks in advance.
I've restarted, flashed back to a previous update, taken the latest updates. You name it. I've tried everything that I know to try. The phone recognized that there's a Sim card installed but just won't pick up signal
