I purchased a Nexus 5 32GB mobile in November 2014 from Expedite Electronics. It has recently stopped charging via wireless charging and wired charging is occasionally temperamental. I contacted LG directly to enquire about a repair under warranty. They informed me that all 32GB Nexus 5 devices sold in the UK (regardless of who or where they were sold from) are not UK spec. I was told the particular one I have is a United Arab Emirates model. He then said that it's not a problem and that I was still covered under warranty but if the main board was found to be at fault and needed replacing then they would only be able to repair this with the 16GB model as this is the only UK spec version they offer.
I asked them what about 32GB devices sold through Amazon and Google Play and was told that they would have the same issue. I was also told that it wasn't specific for the Nexus 5 either and it was the same for the LG G2 and LG G3 devices as well.
It feels very wrong to me. Does this seem right to anyone else?
If they can't fix yours they have to give you another equal to what you've bought. In this case you should speak with Expedite Electronics and not with LG, at least here in Portugal it works like this.
When I had broken my Nexus 5 32 GB back in June (bought from French Play Store), they sent me refurbished unit. So yes, new phones are not available, but refurbished are, or at least were before one and half month.
If they can't repair the phone, I would ask for refund.

I want to find a reliable store that promises that if you purchase a brand new never opened phone, that they send me a brand new never opened phone.
I need them to be able to send phone's with standardized house chargers corresponding to the country's outlet.
Can Clove do this for American consumers?
Never messed with Clove, but I have ordered from Handtec. They ship brand new, never opened phones that are unlocked, but you get the international charger (not the one that U.S. customers can use).
You can always go to a place that sells travel gear and buy an international adaptor. Or if you buy an HTC phone say for example the HTC HD, you can go to a cellphone store and buy an adaptor for any HTC phone like the touch pro and it should be compatible because the charger is a USB cable and the little box that it connects into. That's what I had to do with my previous imported phones.
Sorry I couldn't be more help
Another thing you want to be aware of is that certain phones comes in different models with different frequency radios. So you might not be able to get 3G in North America if you get the overseas model.
I bought from Handtec a couple of years ago and was given a phone which was supposed to be brand new, it turned out to have over two hours of outgoing call time on it. They tried to tell me it was during testing, I had to wait over a month for a brand new one as they had already got my money.
to be fair they gave me a few bits as a sorry.

What are bits?
Thanks for the info. I bought a Nokia E90 marketed as brand new and ALWAYS got it used.
Sorry to hear about all this bad news
I am in no way a rep for them, I have just used them in the past and always received new merchandise.
ok deal is that I go to us for 3 weeks on Tuesday - which nicely overlaps with Asus release date...
I'm undecided whether to buy it in states or when I come back home to uk.... it does work out considerably cheaper in US than in UK....
with dock its £100 cheaper in US... £330 vs £430
without dock difference is even greater
£240 vs £379...
so even if I had to pay VAT upon return to UK (which I'd like to avoid of course) that would still only be about £45 in VAT so still £100 cheaper for tablet only...
Now £100 out of £380 thats nearly 25%.... tempting...
so my question is, what's asus warranty like? would I be covered in UK with my US transformer?
Anyone?
Sent from my HTC Desire
I'd like to know this too.... I was planning on getting family in the US to buy one and then bring it over when they come to visit beginning of May. If there's no worldwide warranty then there may be a problem! Especially with the reports of dead pixels which I CANNOT stand!
I'm also considering doing this when I head over to the states later this year. Asus laptops have international warranty so I'm hoping their tablets will as well!
Can anybody who has one check the warranty paper that came with the transformer to see if it's worldwide?
Thanks

Yes the warranty card says 12 months global cover
Ripped off in the UK as usual.
I also see there were a few of our American cousins moaning about it not being available in the States. Well, that is how we generally feel in Europe as most thing are released first in the US - Games, films, tech etc etc. Right, moan over: I feel better now!
If I were you I'd get it from the States (even buy two and sell one for a small profit over here and you'd pay even less for yours!)
I'm in the UK and thinking of buying the Transformer Prime in the US for the cost saving. Hopefully it'll support global warranty cover like the original Transformer.
Does anyone what differences there'll be between the two devices and accessories that come with it?
I know it'll come with a US power cable and the default language would be English US. These are non issues as I can get a new UK power cable and change the language and regional settings to English UK.
Anything else I need to be aware of?
Hi I'm wondering if any of you guys know if any shops (highstreet ones) like carphone warehouse will be selling the nexus 5? Only I'm not sure what do do if I was to receive a faulty phone out of The box.
Right ok so as far as i know CW sold the nexus 4 after it launched and so did o2(Im not sure about other carriers) so hopefully it will be the same this time around but it might take a week or two for stores to get them in stock if google doesn't give much time between the announcement and the release and in terms of what if it is faulty you are covered by the Sales of goods act in the uk so it should be a case of just going into the store and getting a replacement
I will probably have to buy mine from CW since i don't have a debt card that the play store accepts but im only doing this if they can match the play stores price which they will probably not

More then likely but remember, when the nexus 4 came out it was £239 for the 8gb and £279 for the 16gb, i saw the 16gb go for over £400 in stores.
if the nexus 5 is £299 it will more then likely go for £500 + in store
Hi,
I am looking to buy a high end dual sim branded phone.
I ended up with either htc one e8 dual sim or lg g3 dual sim.
I ended up on mobileshop.eu or merimobiles.com which have lg g3 dual sim. (merimobiles has it 100eur cheaper but I read a lot of bad reviews about them)
The reason I ended up on these two is because both confirmed shipping is from EU therefore and I will not have to pay additional tax and I cannot find any other shop selling either phone from EU.
Does anyone have any experience from either shops or can suggest any other shop selling any of those two phones from EU and sealed in box.
Thanks!!
no one has any ideas? I would really appreciate any help
I ended up buying the LG G3 (D858HK) dual sim 16GB from mobileshop.eu, they are from EU and ship to EU countries only.
I am very happy with it, I had ordered it during the weekend, on Monday it was shipped and on Wednesday morning it was in my hands.
How was your overall experience with mobileshop.eu? As I have read some bad things about them and I've seen a youtube video of a guy who says that they sell second hand phones with signs of us!

Warranty refused
Refund refused
no money no phone,
I bought my SM-N9100 2015, the
box seal was broken.
After few monthes the autofocus stopped working. I sent the phone in for repair.
2 weeks later it came back un-repaired.
I sent the phone in again.
They couldn't fix it, and they don't want to refund/exchange either
So it looks like I lost my €661
Merimobiles.com - a shop to avoid
I got a phone Huawei Honor 6 5" 4G LTE 32GB on 21-th december.
I visualy checked it at reception and looked very fine.
When I offered it to my wife as Christmas present, we found out in the same day, after removing the protections foil from the back, that the back cover was unsoldering from the main body.
So instead of being firmly attached, the back cover , was completely loose at his right side.
We liked the phone but it seems like we got a Huawei cheap scrap and are very dissapointed.
How is it possible to get such a crap at 255 $ phone?
I sent the phone back to merimoblies.com on December 30 th 2015 asking for refund.
After almost two and half months I got refunded 181.53 $.
I payed for the phone 238.96 $ and for extended guaranteee 8.49 $ ( plus 18 $ the DHL shipping and also got a 10$ discount) , so I got stoled of 55.92 $.
Nobody gave me any explanation and they hardly answered to my repeted emails. Finally they passes responsability from one to another departaments, sending me from technical to sales departament.
I repet, I returned a new mobile phone exactly as was shipped to me, exactly in the same condition as I got it - with the backcover unsoldered.
They post products on their shop without having on the stock and is nowhere mention Out of Stock. Weeks after you buy and pay, they inform you that the item is out of stock. Even if they refund you, you still loose money because of the Paypal conversion. At every shopping they refund , I lost about 10-15 $ i my personal account.
One more very important thing: they delete any negative comment from their shop, so don't look for negative reviews because you won't find it.
There are probably hundreds of customers in the same situation but you won't find their comments there.
Thank you merimobiles.com but never again.
Mobileshop.eu
Don't ever buy a phone from mobileshop.eu. I bought a Huawei p9 dual sim global version, but they sent me a unsealed china version instead. I tried for over 3 weeks to get them to take it back, but unsuccesful.
Hey all,
I'm getting sent a replacement from Google due to my current device having a faulty power button. (It works whenever it feels like it)
Are the refurbished phones clean looking like new phones? I love the look of the phone itself and have had bad experiences with refurbs (HTC).
And since it's from the Google Store, it's still rootable?
I would assume yes it's still Rootable. The refurbished units are good but I notice there was two scratches on the edge of the housing with mine. I assume it was there due to a previous screen replacement.
Should still be rootable..
If the phone you sent them was a Google bought phone yes it is rootable. If you sent them a Verizon phone probably not.
I haven't gotten a refurbished Pixel. Luckily I haven't needed it, but I did get a refurbished Nexus 5X because it boot looped, and it looked brand new.
I just received a refurbished phone and I wouldn't have even been able to tell it wasn't brand new.
Thanks everyone for replying. I received my refurbished unit and like everyone said, it looked brand new! Only issue was that Sprint was unable to get it working on their Network. For some reason, the IMEI and the MEID were entirely different. I went through 4 techs before the last one informed me that those two numbers should only be off by one, and mine were entirely different. So, Google is sending me out another refurbished one.
Wish me luck. ?
Good luck. I am going on my 4th replacement. First 2 couldn't lock onto gps satellites and my current phone died while on a road trip. I haven't rooted or modded my device and use the chargers+cables I bought from Google. There are only 2 months left for the warranty and afraid I will have an 800 dollar brick after the warranty expires.
