Hey guys
So I ended up buying off of ebay, made the huge mistake of buying from a "newer" seller. It came in the mail, and a few things wrong with it
a) no car charger like the ad said (altho he said he'd put it in the mail asap)
b) it was in a tattered ATT box that was not like the new box from the ebay ad
c) black marker on the box tries to cover the fact that it says "refurbished kit" (I can luckily read through the marker)
So paypal has withdrawn the funds for now (on the circumstance that they actually double charged my credit card and withdrew both funds again until this is resolved). So hopefully this means I got some leverage here.
I basically told him:
"I will credit payment back, however would
like to receive the car charger as per the ebay ad, and at least have
you admit that you did not send me a new phone but rather a
refurbished one, in a box that was not as shown in the ad. We can
then either agree upon a new fair price, or I will delay the payment
until the dispute is resolved through paypal."
What would you guys think is a fair price for a refurbished one? I paid 375USD$ (355 + 20 shipping) or 410$CAN
He is said to now make it 340$?
is it worth it to still be dealing with this guy at all?
?
how much would a refurbished go for in comparison to a used att tilt?
Who was the seller? Do you have a link to the completed auction?
I sold a buddy's old Tilt for about $400 locally, so I think a $375 shipped price for a factory refurb is still a good deal. I still remember selling a brand new one only opened for unlock for $650, but that was awhile ago, haha.
~Cheers~
hi
what are some things i should be cautious of refurb?
i wanna check and make sure everything is working before i continue negotiating/paying him
it seems that sometimes it does not read the touch screen (or is slow to detect)
does this happen normally?

I can't imagine why someone would pay $650 for a Tilt, even when they were brand new they were $549.99 without contract.
it would help if you told us what kind of device you've bought (i've read AT&T and refurb. but no device name)

It's a Tilt, he says it in 2nd post.
I'd go for between $320-$350 and no higher, non-negotiable! The ad is different from the actual product, your missing parts, and the other crap you have to deal with.
Refurbished should work just as well as a new device, sometimes a refurbished works better than a new. It's a gamble either way since you don't know what the seller has done with it. Pull up some system info on the device and see if it's stock info. Also, is there any physical damage?
TILT
yes its an HTC tilt
there is no physical damage and it looks good
"Pull up some system info on the device and see if it's stock info"
how is this done?
he also claims that their is still a one year warranty....if i send it back to ATT they will send me a new one. Is there a way to verify this?
Order mine online last Monday, and not had anything from them so far. :-(
Have you tried phoning or emailing them?
I'm waiting on mine too. No exact delivery date given but told it should be within 2 weeks which means they haven't got a clue.
I did read a comment on wmpoweruser that they had to send the 1st shipment back due to quality issues as something was faulty on them. Don't know If it's true but could be the reason for the delay.
I also want to know if the Omnia 7 from T-mobile is locked?
I would have thought so but I thought you could always ask tmobile to unlock it for you.
Or easier still buy from a reseller online and it comes unlocked and it's cheaper, the only downside is 1gb against 3gb and not as fast speed but you can either pay 5 pounds a month to upgrade or chance your luck buy ringing them and ask to have the full speed unlocked. Say it's an android phone as that worked for some people.
Thanks chaps, I will give them a call on Monday and see what they say.
I was told by them that there were QC issues and the first shipment was returend to suppliers.

What does this mean?
Sorry, I was in a rush earlier.
I meant If you buy the phone from a reseller it will be much cheaper but it will have a 1GB data allowance against 3GB when purchased direct. And you will get not get the full high speed internet, you will be throttled down.
You can phone them up and try your luck and they might remove the speed limit, If not you pay £5 a month to upgrade to the full speed and 3GB.
But compare the prices and It's not worth buying direct and resellers are normally unlocked with no branding.
Plus don't forget Quidco or Topcashback etc for extra money back, about £30 on average.
Phoned them again today, and they said they "might" get some in Friday :-( but they said that about today too.
Turns out the QC issue they had with the phones was with the packaging...
Oye. When they mentioned the Friday delivery they told 'but they still need to go through QC first' implying they don't expect them to ship tomorrow.
Well hopefully it should be sorted soon as a lot of people want that phone (inc me)
Bad news according to the buymobilephones twitter account. Says tmobile have informed them It will take up to 2 weeks before stock arrive
It's getting to a stage where the windows phone stock is as rare as kinect stock.

Sounds like real bad news for us who want one
Got a message from T-mobile, "my phone is in stock" , i need to call back to make payment.
Odd, I already payed online I thought. However I rang anyway.
Now, out of stock !!!!!!!!!!! I was not happy.
They only had a small number of units and I took too long to ring back.
I've now told them to send the next one they get, and take payment.
nope, got mine from orange in london cos i knew they had them. I was with t mobile but they said they had software issues and wouldnt be releasing the phone until it was sorted or something so being the impatient guy that i am i went to Orange (london)
T-Mobile do *not* have stock of the Omnia7. Three have had stock since Tuesday and Orange got stock today.
If you've ordered already, best cancel and go for Orange on next day delivery. You can still piggyback the T-Mobile signal, and you get free picture messaging too
Just tried T-Mobile again and they have no idea when the 'packaging' issue will be resolved. Wouldn't be surprised if Everything Everywhere is deliberately letting Orange get the initial sales for some reason.
Regardless, I couldn't get them to do an 18 month contract below £40, even though Buymobiles.net are doing it at 18 month £30.
I got bored and ordered from Orange - If you ring them and push, they will do the handset free on 18 month Panther 40 for £35 per month using a credit on your bill. You also get the standard orange benefit of being able to upgrade after 15 months.
The reason I did it is I'm very impatient and sick of waiting !
Mickey
Nice one Micky. Ordered mine online. Paid £99 with £27.50/month. Should save about £80 over the usual price, so happy with that
'Packagin issue'? That has to be the most idiotic reason to not offer a product at launch. Especially when it's the only winpho7 handset they offer.
thats wierd!
my omnia 7 came 2 days ago from tmobile?!!
Hey all there,
do you have any experiece with this spare part distributor?
I need a spare part for my HTC Sensation but I'm not sure if this shop ist worth my money.
So what do you think?
I recently bought some small tools ans sticker and course I will share my experience here.
*bump*
Yesterday I asked for a invoice copy for ustoms duty purpose.
Today I got it. So customer service seems to be ok.
I was looking at these guys for a replacement speaker on my evolution 3d .
I was wondering if there has been an update on your order?
I can report, that my package arrived well covered and with the ordered pieces.
The stickers are ok, well what shouldt they do wrong?
The tools look cheap, I think.
So I'm still not sure to order there. And 40€ is a lot of money for me, because I'm still on-the-job training. If loosing the money wouldn't hurt so much, I wouldt definitely give them a try.
I'll give an update when I've made a decision.
As far as I know, they're the most reputable...the guys off Ebay for example will give you rear housing but part wasn't cut to exact dimensions...or missing something very minor but meaning whole part cannot be used...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I decided not to order there.
I ordered on a trader from Great Britain for a much cheaper price. Hope the LCD is no fake.
Update:
It looks not like a fake, but i haven't had time to reassable my phone yet.
I've bought a number of spare parts for my i9100 and N7100 there, and all I can say about them is praise.
The delivery time seems a bit on the long side (took about 10 days for delivery to France each time), but customer service is excellent and the prices are the lowest I been able to find anywhere on the market...
As far as I'm concerned it's a go, you can order from them anytime, even blindfolded...

Granted, the 3$ toolkit for Samsung devices I bought there looks equally cheap. But it still accomplishes the job more than is needed.
Also, keep in mind that such toolkits are most often made by device manufacturers themselves, parts4repair.com has nothing to do with this whatsoever (save that they're reselling them for a -small- profit, obviously ).

Any examples for other better places?
Just ordered a camera for my i9100 from them and it came with a big scratch that appears big and pink on all my photo's .
Bought a HTC Sensation volume buttons flex cable and a set of screws and came as expected. The volume buttons had an issue and I asked them for a replacement via email, which they answered and sent a new one for free. Happy with them.
Got scammed
Ordered a housing assembly for htc desire hd and three batteries. The cover assembly had two parts which were used and had worn out contact surfaces. The batteries run out of life really fast (as fast a 2 year old battery and some even faster), they have been marked as e.g. "LQ" and using a battery tester app they give results varying between 800-1100mah for the dhd battery that should be 1230mah.
They've answered to emails with varying delay of 4-7 days, but to my latest email i haven't gotten a reply, when i asked them to send me instructions to return the package. They seem to be purposely delaying the case by asking silly questions i've already given them an aswer to. It's been almost a month and a half since my first email to them.
Going to report them to my credit card company so they will take it from here.
I bought a Full Housing Cover and a Complete Screen Assembly with Bezel for my Galaxy S II i9100, and they were out of stock. Waited for two weeks and they were still out of stock. Asked for a refund 4 days ago and they haven't replied yet or issued the refund. I'm glad I paid with paypal. If by the end of the week they still haven't issued a refund, I'm going to report them.
EDIT: They issued a full refund to my paypal today.

I bought a full housing form Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 and 2 cover camera lens on 4/11/2013.
Products are handed over to carrier on 7/11/2013 (SingaporePosts...very good assistance and fast answer: vote 5 stars!!!) and it shipped on 12/11/2013 by naval ship (very bad!!!).
Shipping arrives in Italy (to Milan) on 04/12/2013 ( 1 month) but the product is been blocked to Italian mail customs up to 21/12/2013 for controls because it was declared as "fashion accessory" for a value of €1.
I was almost certain that the product would be blocked, but unexpectedly, it is unlocked on 12/27/2013 and delivered today 23/12/013.
With much surprise I enjoyed an excellent packaging and protection product.
Overall I'm pretty pleased with parts4repair.com even if I wrote them all history and I said them that I don't buy no more from them just because delivery times are too long.
I would add that every time I contacted parts4repair for a problem about shipment, they answered me immediately, in 24 hours to my email
Be warned!!!!
Before ordering a replacement screen for my TF700 I checked for positive or negative experiences with Parts4Repair.com here on XDA. Only found this thread and decided to try it.
I ordered a V02 of the screen for $ 97,90 including shipping on 24/08/13 and received an incompatible version V01 on 10/09/13. After sending an email the same day I received an email asking me to return the screen back to them. (needed to return it to China for $ 13,- without tracking, which I found expensive enough). Four days later I receive an automatically generated email where they state that the purchase is refunded through PayPal.
On 25/10/13 they confirm reception of the screen and confirm (again) to refund (as they didn't have the V02 screen!).
As of yet (08/01/14) I haven't received a refund.
So Parts4Repair.com first sends a wrong item, then doesn't have the ordered item at all, confirms twice to refund and in the end doesn't do anything.
PayPal wasn't any help either because they requested a tracking number, after I had already send it back and they refuse to look at the emails confirming the return of the screen.
Just to add my voice. Ordered a chip for my sammy October / November... One month - nothing... started chasing and they said it had been sent... oddly the tracking date it was sent was when I complained.... Too late to place a Paypal complaint in.
Any way - eventually got it on the phone and found it was DOA - was sold tested. Not only that the the BGA balls where not great.
I've had the chip pulled off again and now have an RMA ( although no postal address Ahhhhh ) so dependant on postage I'll send it back.
What worries me is if I send it will I actually get a refund or fobbed off ? I wasnt cheap but for piece of mind I may just....
Over all...
Comms 2/10
Speed 1/10
Quality of Product 1/10
I would love to know about other suppliers as others have asked for items like chips....

The 18th of June I ordered 2 new glass for my Samsung galaxy tab pro 8.4 and payed $70 for the glass and $40 for DHL shipping I got my packaged the 23rd of June so fast delivery.
But what I got was not what I ordered so I mailed them they denied first that they had done anything wrong, so I took some pictures of the wrong glass laying beside the right one, then they admitted they sent wrong item, and now the hell started.
I wanted them to send the right items, and then I could maybe send the wrong ones back after all it was only $70 in sell value,
they denied that said I had to send back first and when they got the items they should send me my ordered items.
I gave in and sent their items back for $26 it took about a month for them to get the items, now when they shall send me my items they say they only have white ones,
I ordered 1 black and 1 white, I said it was OK to send 2 white instead and I asked how they would refund me the shipping cost I had when returning their items, then they say that if I want refund they will send the items with snail post.
Now I starting to get really pissed what was started as something I thought was cheap, ended up quite expensive and I have still not seen what I ordered.
SO ALL I CAN SAY, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
Well I figure my first post should be a big moan on the subject of eBay.
I'm currently -£750 waiting on refunds for 2 Galaxy s4 phones that I tried to buy on eBay... the first auction had a slightly dodgy feel but I figured it was worth the risk for the potential of a good deal, turns out I should have trusted my initial gut instinct, about 10 minutes after I paid for it I got a message from eBay saying the listing had been removed as the seller was a compromised account, and that I no longer have to pay for the item. Annoyingly I still have to wait till next week before I can escalate it and get my refund.
Second one seemed a legit deal, seemed like an unwanted upgrade ( I know there is a degree of risk there too but, my last phone was one and I've had no issues), legit photos... item arrived on Monday all seemed in working order, spent all day Tuesday researching which mod to go with, re-learning the whole rooting/firmware/recovery upgrade processes, loading my apps, configuring them all etc , Micro-sim arrived Wednesday, but for whatever reason wouldn't register on the mobile network so I went to the carrier's shop.... I'm sure you all know where this is going, the phone's IMEI is on the blacklist, so I've had to spend the last few hours convincing the seller to refund me, of course I now have to send it back at my own expense and it probably won't arrive till Monday at which point I have to trust he'll refund me in a timely fashion, or I'll have to escalate again..... argh, what a head ache!
I must confess before all this I didn't know about all these possible pitfalls, I wish eBay had some more upfront guidance on risks of the phones being sold being blacklisted, I didn't even know such a list existed, ah well live and learn I guess.
For the limited time I had the phone I was loving it for it's none call related features, I'll just have to buy my next one from a legit source and hope for 3rd time lucky!
Anyhow, hi, hopefully my future posts will be more positive.
Feel sorry for you there buddy... I got mine too from a reseller, but we met upfront. Its been 10 weeks now and my s4 is still kicking. Its really a lot better if you're getting an expensive piece of hardware from a legit source...

Thanks for the sympathy and recommendation though guys.
Just wondered what you paid for the phones.if you don't mind. How much did you think you were saving over buying from a shop?

The first one was £370, and was apparently a 32gb model, that should have been my first warning signal as I've since learned the 32gb model isn't for sale in the UK yet.
The second went for £380 and included a 32gb memory card, so I felt like I was getting a 70-80ish quid saving?
I feel for you! Ebay can be a great bargain grabbing experience but there are some sharks lurking about. Hope you get both your refunds and put it down to experience..... I love technology but wouldn't risk not having a backed warranty on an item as expensive as an S4.

Yea I've found a seller who is selling for £410 and providing a valid receipt, I think that's a safe price point to purchase at.
I bought my S4 on ebay last week for £400 incl and it was supposed to be in a sealed box, fully unlocked and an unwanted upgrade.
It was still sealed, but was locked to O2 and the seller insisted that O2 had promised him it would unlock in 3-5 days.
I said I couldn't wait, unlocked it myself & asked for a £25 refund as this was what a shop would charge to unlock it for me!! He gave it to me. :victory:

Nice one.
I got my S4 from eBay too. For £370.it was on o2 as well. Got an unlock code from a website for £15 that's permanently unlocked it.
I've been very happy. And lucky in my eBay experiences.

Up until this happened I'd had 200+ transactions without 1 issue, then 2 back to back....
My S1 was off eBay, was a bargain and has never caused me one issue.
I am however a bit wary of unwanted upgrades after learning they could be blacklisted if they end their contract prematurely, if that happens a year later I doubt there's anything you could do about it.
I was actually worried about buying a FAKE S4, i.e. something else masquerading as an S4.
Do these exist, or is it just me being paranoid?

Generally Amazon is more trustworthy than eBay, especially if it says 'fulfilled by amazon' or it's sold by official stores (AnkerOfficial and stuff like that) - you can tell if they have a very high rating and their descriptions are written fluently (you should be able to tell between the chinese/whatever sellers and official stores).
BUT, there are many fakes on Amazon too.
Feel sorry for you buddy. I got mine from a website called Kogan. It costed me 689 AU dollars including shipping fee. It is quite cheap and it arrived a week after i paid. More importantly, it is not second handed or reselling product.
i too purchased an s3 that was an unwanted phone, i had a gut feeling it was dodgy but thought ebay would protect me if it was dodgy
how wrong was i
phone never sent, money gone
all ebay could do was email them as i payed by bank deposit. even police online fraud cant force them to pay back the money and a bank tranfser reversal doesnt work if they deny it
2 months on still trying for refund while there still buying stuff
ended up buying an S4 I9505 off kogan for $620 inc 32gm micro sd and freight couldnt justify paying $460 for an S3 when the S4 was going for that price

Yea, PayPal payment protection is a must on eBay, I'd never trust a transaction without it really.
As it is I gave eBay another go as I spotted a deal that looked legit and unlikely to be a bad phone, got myself a new i19505, sealed box and with a receipt, £360. Pretty happy with that! Also got my money back from the 2 other bad deals, yay.
Guys long ago i opened a new thread for the display at my U12 + and I found out that the phone was already used, probably by another buyer or RMA. I buy that from ebay from the buyer "kimbimobile"
The seller has not only been smart and has sold me a used and not new phone, but on the insertion is written that also sends a Re Cam, of course he did not send it, only after very very much messages and open complaint.
After the opening of the complaint Ebay said to send it all back and of course the seller said he only received the accessories and no the phone, the re cam that does not work.2 of 2.
Ebay now has at 10 days for the checks, but I'm afraid that gives reason to him, clearly he is cheating me, he and not the courier or otherwise, he signed the package at the time of receipt, it was not damaged
Now do not know what to do, I often get almost € 1000 for the love of HTC, I thought about opening this thread to look for help, surely those who buy an HTC is a geek or programmer (like me), or who work in IT.
I thought to write here code code imei 353222090 and the last 6 number those who buy the U12+ 128Gb Blue Translucent from Ebay.Surely he will put his HTC online again
Thanks

I've never had a problem with eBay and the sellers there. If I didn't receive an item eBay will help with a refund. If something was defective the seller will make good on the sale.
I hope I never ever come across a scammer on eBay.

O/T but wow, I've been scammed on eBay several times that I can remember. Twice it involved substituting an older or lesser model for what was described -- these were cases where it wouldn't be obvious to the average person what was inside. (For example, a laptop with a slower processor.) It always seems to get resolved but the process can take ages. Be careful out there.
