[Q] 5.1.1 Upgrade encountered errors, unable to boot...need urgent help, PIT fle - Note Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Please could someone send me or post the PIT file for SM-N915P from Lollipop 5.0.1? Is there any way to get a stock 5.1.1 rom tar/md5 to flash in odin?
I tried the OTA 5.1.1 upgrade on my Sprint SM-N915P (32gb) but had issues rooting and I tried to revert to 5.0.1 thru Odin, causing a soft brick. I'm using TWRP 2.8.7. Now I can revert to the original recovery to the phone by flashing the n915p cf-auto-root (which fails attempting to write the cache.ext4, but luckily installs the original recovery first). This boots to the "Firmware Upgrade" error and suggests using Kies Emergency Firmware Recovery. But I never before used nor even installed Kies on my PC and trying it now, Kies does not recognize/connect to my phone rendering that option useless
I found several forum posts which suggest flashing the 5.0.1 tar via Odin and a 5.0.1 PIT file, but all my efforts to find a suitable pit online came up empty.
If you are running Lollipoop 5.0.1, please please could you send me a pit file I could use to re-partition in ODIN and reflash 5.0.1?
Thanks - Any help is greatly appreciated

http://androiding.how/sprint-note-edge-android-5-1-1-ota-update-rolling-out-build-n915pvpu4cofe/ this needed to be read before.

Right, I've since realized that. In hindsight, I could have done everything or nothing. Son this doesn't help me at all, since i'm past that point ( of no return to 5.0.1 ). Indeed, I should have just gone with the S6 Edge instead of the Note Edge, but again, what's done is done, let's deal in the NOW....can't change the past (in this case).
Any other ideas?

That was my point. I don't think there are any other ideas. Going to the s6 edge is pointless because these are 2 different phones. The point is 5.1.1 cannot be rooted right now. On either phone. Nor can you go back to 5.0.1. I think the only step now is to wait for someone to find rooted version. Posting that link was the simplest way for me to say ...there are no answers. I just figured I'd let the site say it. Im sorry if that rubbed you the wrong way. I posted that link in other forums too to stop users from attempting root because the phone will brick.

You aren't the only one with this problem. Thing is no one has the fix.

SOLVED
I love you guys - I swear, that annoying default text message tone has never sounded so good!
ran the 5.1. md5 through odin to get my phone back up, then flashed the original cf-autroot and finally flashed the 2.8.7 TWRP...
HELLZ YEAH

So you have a rooted 5.1.1?

if you have TWRP you should be able to install root zip file..... you guys havn't read much have ya

[ROM][ODIN] I497UCBMF2 AT&T 4.1.2 Firmware (Rooted)

I497UCBMF2 AT&T 4.1.2 Firmware (Rooted)
For some unusual reason there is little to no development for the SGH-I497 and absolutely ZERO official firmware available for the AT&T model. This means, if you soft brick the tablet trying to install something you should not have, you have no easy way of getting back to the stock firmware. In addition, getting to the 4.1.2 version of the AT&T firmware is a royal pain due to the massive amount of "PATCH CHECKS" and assert checks built in to the OTA update. This means any deodexed system or a number of other reasons will be rejected if you try the OTA update while on non-official or approved firmware. So, for your convenience, I have compiled a simple ODIN-Flashable TAR file which will jet you up to speed installing the latest official AT&T 4.1.2 firmware.
Details:
I497UCBMF2 Stock w/ Root Pre-Installed (NO MODEM INCLUDED AS I DON'T HAVE THIS. IF YOU HAVE STOCK 4.1.2 INSTALLED WITH THE MF2 MODEM, PLEASE SEND ME THE MODEM AND I'LL ADD IT TO THE ODIN PACKAGE)
Package Includes: SBL2, SBL3, ABOOT, RPM, TZ, BOOT, RECOVERY, SYSTEM AND CACHE ZONES
Download:
I497UCBMF2 AT&T 4.1.2 Firmware (Rooted)
Password on the archive is: www.mobiletechvideos.com
How To Flash:
BACKUP YOUR FILES AND DATA BEFORE FLASHING...ALWAYS. First extract this file using WinRAR or a program capable of extracting a RAR package as the package inside it is the TAR file you need. This was done to save time on the download. Once extracted, using ODIN, select PDA and choose this file. Now place your tablet in DOWNLOAD MODE by having it powered off, then power on by holding POWER and VOLUME DOWN until you see the on-screen text come up. Release the buttons and press VOLUME UP to enter DOWNLOAD MODE. Now click START on ODIN. Once completed (takes around 10 minutes), it is advised to enter RECOVERY MODE and perform a FACTORY DATA RESET for the best bug free experience since I don't know what ROM you are flashing from.
Did this help you out? Great, I'm glad it did! Click that THANKS button next to my name if you have the time. Please note, if you find yourself in a hard/soft brick situation of any type on any advice, give me a shout via PM or email through the contact page on our site.
RESERVED...
If you have downloaded and flashed, please report back your results...
17 Downloads and no reports?
Not work,pls fix it,my screenshot
Stuck on download mode
Try to flash it again. I tested it a few times and it's been downloaded over 30 times with no negative reports. If it is still problematic for you, I'll upload a cache free version...
Mine is still pretty clean, which block do you need.
Do you have MF2 stock modem?
What are peoples experiences with this? Did they lose their modem?
You won't lose your modem, it just doesn't include the MF2 modem as I can't locate one is all. Also, there have been 66 downloads and no reports so I imagine all is well. I strongly believe the person above with poor English did something incorrect when installing due to that many downloads with no ill reports. I do wish someone would just flash and report afterwards though!
I just received this response from user "dobermanchik"...
"Hi,
I cannot post into the developers board so I am reduced to using this private message system. I'd like to thank you for that firmware. It works great for me and I have no issues so far. I was able to unlock additional languages and overall the system is stable and bugless. Thanks again."
ill give it flash and let you know
cr*p i just soft bricked my tablet by trying to change the font hope this works will report back after i flash.

ATT Samsung SGH 1497 Tablet unlock bootloader
Hi,
I appreciate your work on this device. You have noticed like me that little is out there for this device. You have provided some nice workarounds to update this tablet, however, I cannot find anywhere, a way to unlock to boot loader. I have carrier unlock from ATT, and cannot seem to fins a way to root this tablet.
You seem to have already accomplished this and I wanted to ask for your help to unlock my Samsung SGH 1497 ATT Tablet.
If you could help, I will rave about you on XDA!
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Mark (hammeru)
brought my sgh 1497 back from the dead.

Reverting Back To 4.4 After Flashing 5.0 Boot and Modem

Hello and happy new year all.
Dear Moderators....
This is a question AS WELL AS a information thread. My plan is to gather the information from posters then combine it all into a neat bundle and have it here for our readers to help. Not sure if that is ik. Please let me know.
Dear Members....
Could someone please confirm 100% that after flashing NL8 Boot and Modem that it is infact possible to revert back to 4.4 at will. Please only confirm if you have done this yourself. If you succeeded or failed please let us know either way and also please include your model number and wether you just restored a previous backup or flat out reflashed the 4.4 boot and modem to revert. Also please include links to the modems and boot you flashed upto or back to if youbare able to. If there was any other crucial information please include as well so we can have a very informative thread for knowledge here.I feel this information is very crucial to people and i think it would be helpful.
I wanted to create a thread to keep updated with success and failures as well as the method that seems to work best and fail worst.

Flashed 5.0 along with the bootloader, went back to 4.4.2 without any issues.
Me too, flashed everything: bootloader, modem, etc... went back to 4.4.2 without any problems (N9005XXUGNI4)
Did you all flashed your old pit file when you reverted back to 4.4.2 or just flashed the rom? Thanks
How do you flash back 4.4.2 ? Using stock firmware and ODIN ?

No, i did not make a backup PIT file. Flashed PIT for Lolipop, did not use any PIT for reverting to Kitkat.
Updated lollipop with BL, PIT then go back to 4.4.2 (GNG1) with no problems.
Thanks everybody...did you see if knox is still 0x0 ?
Odin flash back to GNG1 (DBT) did not work at first (size fail). So I flashed with PIT file which was ok. Knox still 0x0.

Flashed only boot and modem, flashed several Lollipop ROMs, got back to a KitKat backup I had withTWRP 2.8.3.0 restoring everything but the EFS and the modem.
No issues so far, though the phone needed a couple of minutes to get mobile data properly, after that - no issues turning it on and off in matter of seconds.

SOFT BRICK Galaxy S6 (SM-G920I)

this is the second time i've soft bricked my phone in the past 6 days and if this is fixable i will probably consider researching for weeks at a time before trying anything new..
anyway, the first time i soft bricked my phone last week, my s6 was rooted (via chainfire, G920IDVU1AOC6) but i decided to unroot so i could update software. after unrooting with SuperSU, i attempted to update by using smart switch and then something went wrong with that process (my firmware was at G920IDVU1AOC4) which i then fixed by flashing G920IDVU1BOE3 (latest stock firmware) WITHOUT the hidden.img
backstory out of the way, i wanted to flash TWRP so i could install xposed installer. i used the same chainfire firmware that worked the week prior (above) and so now my phone is soft bricked
things i've tried:
- flashing recovery of AOC4 - i can get back into recovery mode with the older firmware
- flashing AOC4 stock firmware with AND without the hidden.img
- flashing the BOE3 stock firmware with AND without the hidden.img
i'm still able to get into download mode and stock recovery and i've already tried wiping cache and factory reset but nothing works.
i continue to get FAILED on odin
if anyone is able to bring my phone back from purgatory for the second time it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advanced, mojo.
Ok, I soft bricked my s6 too :/ its fine now so dont worry, actually, I read somewhere the problem of failing is in Odin, and you need to flash the stock recovery and then recocery.img you extracted from it in a way odin can read, im from my phone now so I will try to search it out, hope I will find. Dont worry dude your s6 is alive.
Ok i found it, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/solved-stuck-download-mode-failed-odin-t3104736 , I burned stock and then the file he supplied, worked like a charm.

thank you so much for your reply and reassurance! i'll try this out right now and update on the results
UPDATE: i tried flashing stock and then the my-recovery.img.tar and i could get into recovery but i was stuck in boot loop.
is there something i'm doing that's incorrect?

Did you remove the cable, boot download mode, then reconnect and let the driver install screen complete on your PC? Sorry if its a bit redundant but I had made this mistake before.

I FIXED IT.
i'm not exactly sure of the steps i took, as i had to keep waiting for my Unified Android Toolkit to create the tars but essentially what i did was i flashed;
- stock BOE3 WITHOUT hidden.img
- TWRP recovery (was able to boot into twrp and when i looked through some settings (reboot) it said i had no OS installed for some reason
- from this info i tried flashing the AOC4 older firmware WITHOUT hidden.img then it worked.
do you think it is worth attempting the smart switch thing mentioned in that link you posted?
i wouldn't want to run into this problem again..
my lord.. so SOMEHOW i managed to get myself into this for THE THIRD TIME..
once i got it fixed, just a few hours ago, everything was fine and i was then able to flash CF root again.
but once i tried to install TWRP (it worked before i fixed the second time) odin FAILED again and i'm back to square one.
i'm unsure how to properly fix it and the steps i took before aren't working now and i can't even flash any recoveries (whether its AOC4, BOE3 or TWRP)
can anyone suggest anything else please?? i'm in panic mode again lol
this is definitely the last time i try to do any type of configuration with this device.
Do you have recovery now? Maybe burn some custom rom? ..

now i can't flash the twrp .. it won't work. this suck so much!
UPDATE (final update, hopefully ): fixed it AGAIN.
after going through this hellish nightmare for the 3rd time and reading countless threads, i've discovered that the FAILs on odin may be occurring due to the corruption of the firmware file.
so if anyone goes through my problem, CREATE A COPY of the desired firmware before flashing with odin!
thanks justen for your patience and attempts to help me!

Bricked 920T After Odin root

Another day, another brick thread.
But here's the deal:
I followed these instructions, and made sure I had the most recent version of Odin (per the recommendation of other bricked threads that I looked at first before posting this).
I got my sboot from here.
After flashing the sboot (Odin says it's successful), I'm now stuck at the Samsung screen.
I can of course get into ODIN Mode by holding down+power+home. Odin3 will recognize it, so I then went back into Odin and flashed the most recent UniKernel. I'm still stuck at the Samsung screen though. It seems be thinking about something, because it's getting really warm. But I can't get out of the brick.
Like I said, I read a few other resolved brick threads and most were related to the Edge, and most of the suggestions were to use the non-edge sboot to fix it, and to make sure I used the most recent Odin (3.10.6). But I have a non-edge, used the non-edge sboot, and have the up to date Odin. Also, I didn't do a wipe or anything, so it's not missing an OS.
Any suggestions? Am I missing something?
You should be able to flash back to stock if you find the right TAR file.. Took me awhile to find my G920T file but it flashes me back to stock 5.1.1 every time I get stuck on Samsung screen after tripping KNOX

Flashing Rom in Odin sboot fail S906L

Hello all,
Have rooted my SM-S906L (5.0.2), which is the SM-G920V for Straight Talk.
TWRP recovery is installed and all is well there.
Trying to install the stock VZW Rom 6.0.1 with the file name: "G920VVRU4CPC2_G920VVZW4CPC2_G920VVRU4CPC2_HOME.tar.md5"
Odin finds the com and device gets added, and the rom takes forever loading into the AP field, then its ready to go.
Hit Start and it fails on sboot.bin...
Could someone possibly point me into the right direction, what I could have or been doing to get this error.
My goal is to get Marshmallow on this S6. My stock firmware is backed up using TWRP.
Thanks!
Update:
..
please let me know if you find any solution
S609l vs g920v
Here here...
Been hoping someone would confirm that the G920V is, or not the same hardware as the S906L.
Would be inclined to experiment more if that was indeed the case.
Regardless, installing TWRP through Odin was straight forward, then rooting with SuperSU, again not an issue.
Quite surprised that there is not a custom rom out there yet?
In the meantime, will keep researching
Still no joy on custom rom for s906l?

Negative
Nothing yet, still hoping that someone will have figured it out and share. I did have the stock G920V rom boot looping at the Samsung logo but since this is my main phone at the moment, I flashed the stock rom back... I am sure the SM-G920 varient is the SAME unit, just would be a drag to hard brick my only phone.
OTA Update Recived
Last night my SM-S906L did indeed receive an OTA update 275mb, and have harvested to ZIP from the cache/fota folder to my GoogleDrive if anyone needs it.
So before I apply said update, who do I see what OS version it is before it is applied?
My phone is rooted and using TWRP which means once this is applied I am back to loading TWRP and SU.
anyone else get this on theirs, thoughts??
I updated it. Still on 5.0.2. Build number now ends with pk4. When I googled the build number there were s7 nougat roms that ended in that. I was really hoping tracfone was gonna give us a real update.
Edit... just tried flashing the s906l twrp in odin and it wouldn't take. Odin said success but it still boots to stock recovery with the power volume up and home press AND I can't go back to the oe3 firmware or whatever the one that's post around is. Now I'm even screweder

Anyone ever figure anything out with the pk4 firmware with regards to rooting?
