Reverting Back To 4.4 After Flashing 5.0 Boot and Modem - Galaxy Note 3 General

Hello and happy new year all.
Dear Moderators....
This is a question AS WELL AS a information thread. My plan is to gather the information from posters then combine it all into a neat bundle and have it here for our readers to help. Not sure if that is ik. Please let me know.
Dear Members....
Could someone please confirm 100% that after flashing NL8 Boot and Modem that it is infact possible to revert back to 4.4 at will. Please only confirm if you have done this yourself. If you succeeded or failed please let us know either way and also please include your model number and wether you just restored a previous backup or flat out reflashed the 4.4 boot and modem to revert. Also please include links to the modems and boot you flashed upto or back to if youbare able to. If there was any other crucial information please include as well so we can have a very informative thread for knowledge here.I feel this information is very crucial to people and i think it would be helpful.
I wanted to create a thread to keep updated with success and failures as well as the method that seems to work best and fail worst.

Flashed 5.0 along with the bootloader, went back to 4.4.2 without any issues.

Me too, flashed everything: bootloader, modem, etc... went back to 4.4.2 without any problems (N9005XXUGNI4)

Did you all flashed your old pit file when you reverted back to 4.4.2 or just flashed the rom? Thanks

How do you flash back 4.4.2 ? Using stock firmware and ODIN ?

No, i did not make a backup PIT file. Flashed PIT for Lolipop, did not use any PIT for reverting to Kitkat.

Updated lollipop with BL, PIT then go back to 4.4.2 (GNG1) with no problems.

Thanks everybody...did you see if knox is still 0x0 ?

Odin flash back to GNG1 (DBT) did not work at first (size fail). So I flashed with PIT file which was ok. Knox still 0x0.

Flashed only boot and modem, flashed several Lollipop ROMs, got back to a KitKat backup I had withTWRP 2.8.3.0 restoring everything but the EFS and the modem.
No issues so far, though the phone needed a couple of minutes to get mobile data properly, after that - no issues turning it on and off in matter of seconds.

which pit file you used? the one which you used to flash lollipop or KK one

If possible please include the files you used when you tell of your process. If you could provide you model number as well it would provide very useful. Thank you.

can i get some help on reverting back to 4.4.2 please.
ive flashed all the files for 5.0 and not backed up my pit file.
ive tried flashing 4.4.2 firmware ( no signal, null imei, lots of fc's
ive tried flashing 4.4.2 firmwae with kitkat pit, result( same as above )

UPDATE, ive managed to downgrade to 4.4.2,
i downloaded another firmware from sam ( btu ) flashed in odin and it worked perfect, no fc's or anything.

Did you flash also bootloader or Just The firmware ?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Free mobile app

just the firmware file, make sure you do a wipe data before you flash tho

Someone can provide me a post with all the bootloaders? I only flashed a 4.4 modem and i have a signal problem

do you have an imei? or is it null?

[Completed] Help finding stock S4 Verizon 4.4 NC5 factory default ROM

I need help flashing my phone back to regular old Verizon stock/factory 4.4 NC5 default. I tried downgrading my phone back to 4.3 by flashing my phone and did so incorrectly causing it to no longer accept or make calls. Now I'm just trying to revert everything back to normal. I tried flashing the MK2, MDK, ME7 and a few other older stock roms but Odin kept failing at aboot.mbn. If I read things correctly, this is due to the fact that I cant flash older ROM's after upgrading but I'm not 100% sure if that's whats causing it.
Right now I just want to find a regular stock Verizon Galaxy S4 NC5 4.4 ROM to flash in Odin and revert things back to normal. Please help.
Phone Details
SCH-I545
Android Version: 4.3
Baseband Version: I545VRUEMK2
kernel Version: 3.4.0
Build Number: JSS15J.I545VRUEMK2
SE for Android Status: Enforcing SEPF_SCH-I545_4.3_0012
I hope this info helps. Please help.
You are right the challenges you had were due to the fact that you tried to downgrade when you can't. Another thing you want to know is that 4.3 Firmware does not get signal if you flashed older modem/radio.
If you want just the Stock Firmware without Rooting or anything, then try this thread. Otherwise you might be able to go through KIES and pull emergency Firmware option. (Don't remember what its precisely called.).
You might also be interested in this thread where Deodexed firmware is posted without Knox.

This is awesome information Perseus!! Thank you very much! You've confirmed my beliefs and pointed me in the right direction.
I don't know what Deodexed or Knox is but I'll look at that thread and read up on it. Thanks!

[Q] 5.1.1 Upgrade encountered errors, unable to boot...need urgent help, PIT fle

Hi,
Please could someone send me or post the PIT file for SM-N915P from Lollipop 5.0.1? Is there any way to get a stock 5.1.1 rom tar/md5 to flash in odin?
I tried the OTA 5.1.1 upgrade on my Sprint SM-N915P (32gb) but had issues rooting and I tried to revert to 5.0.1 thru Odin, causing a soft brick. I'm using TWRP 2.8.7. Now I can revert to the original recovery to the phone by flashing the n915p cf-auto-root (which fails attempting to write the cache.ext4, but luckily installs the original recovery first). This boots to the "Firmware Upgrade" error and suggests using Kies Emergency Firmware Recovery. But I never before used nor even installed Kies on my PC and trying it now, Kies does not recognize/connect to my phone rendering that option useless
I found several forum posts which suggest flashing the 5.0.1 tar via Odin and a 5.0.1 PIT file, but all my efforts to find a suitable pit online came up empty.
If you are running Lollipoop 5.0.1, please please could you send me a pit file I could use to re-partition in ODIN and reflash 5.0.1?
Thanks - Any help is greatly appreciated

http://androiding.how/sprint-note-edge-android-5-1-1-ota-update-rolling-out-build-n915pvpu4cofe/ this needed to be read before.
Right, I've since realized that. In hindsight, I could have done everything or nothing. Son this doesn't help me at all, since i'm past that point ( of no return to 5.0.1 ). Indeed, I should have just gone with the S6 Edge instead of the Note Edge, but again, what's done is done, let's deal in the NOW....can't change the past (in this case).
Any other ideas?
That was my point. I don't think there are any other ideas. Going to the s6 edge is pointless because these are 2 different phones. The point is 5.1.1 cannot be rooted right now. On either phone. Nor can you go back to 5.0.1. I think the only step now is to wait for someone to find rooted version. Posting that link was the simplest way for me to say ...there are no answers. I just figured I'd let the site say it. Im sorry if that rubbed you the wrong way. I posted that link in other forums too to stop users from attempting root because the phone will brick.

You aren't the only one with this problem. Thing is no one has the fix.
SOLVED
I love you guys - I swear, that annoying default text message tone has never sounded so good!
ran the 5.1. md5 through odin to get my phone back up, then flashed the original cf-autroot and finally flashed the 2.8.7 TWRP...
HELLZ YEAH
So you have a rooted 5.1.1?
if you have TWRP you should be able to install root zip file..... you guys havn't read much have ya

Enabling Wifi calling... then unrooting!

Hi Everyone,
Forgive me if I'm duplicating any threads, I don't THINK that I am as I've been scouring for a neat solution to this and not quite got there yet.
So I'm performing a simple mod for a mate of mine on his S6 (Sm-G920F), which he bought unlocked, but is using on EE. Wifi calling isn't enabled on non EE Firmwares, which has cropped up a few times on here, but it's easy enough to enable.
Basically I rooted the phone (no pingpong for it yet so used CF-Autoroot via odin), and then thanks to tiboric's handy post on hidden S6 features (cheers dude), I edited system/csc/others.xml to include the line - <CscFeature_Setting_SupportWifiCall>TRUE</CscFeature_Setting_SupportWifiCall> then enabled Wifi Calling in the phone app settings
This worked like a charm, sent my mate his phone back and all is right in the world...UNTIL he calls me saying that he want's to use a particular paid sport streaming service which detects his phone is rooted and blocks access.
Now I like a challenge, and it doesn't sound beyond the wit of man so I get the device back and try a few things...
1) Remove root via Super SU, rip the unrooted recovery and cache img files from the stock firmware, create my own md5 and flash via Odin.... Flashes but bootloops
2) Flash the stock firmware, create a flashable zip containing a modified others.xml, boot into recovery, flash update via adb... Flashes but bootloops
3) Download the stock EE firmware...Won't flash from Odin
4) Scour the web for a non rooted S6 ROM with Wifi Calling enabled.. So far no joy!
I reckon I must have missed something, anybody had any joy with either an alternate way to enable Wifi Calling or an "Unroot" method that doesn't require a total wipe? Any nudge in the right direction much appreciated at this point.
Cheers
Smuj
All you have to do is flash a PIT file which lets you have flash the large hidden.img in the branded EE files. That is what I did and I am on stock and un-rooted.
Wrong forum.
Thanks Rekan_ Any chance you can link me to the guide/sources you used?

Flash this in the PIT section of your Odin, this will DELETE everything. Then with the PIT file, flash the EE Branded Firmware and it will flash properly.
If that PIT file doesn't work, try this PIT file, I did both but cannot remember which one worked.
Hmmmm, Still got a nand write fail with both of those pit files. Did you flash G920FXXU1AOCY_G920FEVR1AOC1_G920FXXU1AOCW_HOME.tar.md5 ?
Hi guys
Anyone get this working I'm on a unlocked o2 s6
Please let me know
Thanks

Odin problem cant downgrade help please

Im on 6.0.1 and i do not like it at all. Always been a fan of 5.1.1. I use odin to attempt a downgrade and it fails. Gives me the SW check, fail error every time. Also when i used flashfire itd work throughly and show the note 5 boot logo but thatd be all. Any help for me here? Really wanna go back to 5.1.1. Was able to get back on a rom and here i am. Hopefully someone can help me here.
If someone has a way to do this
If someone has any insight and links files to do this, please help me. Have not had a sammy since the note 2 so some of this is kinda new for me. Reason for wamtomg lollipop is i love lollipop over MM. Plus more rom options.
I had a similar problem. Rooted, could flash custom ROM's but couldn't ODIN flash back to stock. Found if I used the PAC from this site http://dl.samfirm.net/page/2 I could muscle through the flash. The PAC forced the PIT file, which formats the memory, unlike what recovery can do. Be sure all your files are backed-up because this will erase everything nd return your phone to stock (except knox).
They may charge a few dollars to download, but well worth it in my experience.

Upgrading and custom ROM support

Hello, I purchased a new SM-G900P off ebay out of China which came rooted with KitKat installed. I can only assume they put this ROM on to make it universal. It's worked well in general, but I have been having some annoyances with it lately, particularly when related to roaming and some chinese characters that just persist (the CSC codes are CHN and TGY). I would like to upgrade to Lollipop and install one of the custom ROMs that look to be awesome.
My question is: how do I deal with this phone? I can't tell if a recovery is already installed. Can I wipe the phone and upgrade to Lollipop? Should I remove and re-initiate the root access? I am new to android but I've done a ton of reading and I'm quite tech savvy, so if someone can point me in the right direction I would be very appreciative!!
Bump. Even someone pointing me to a link as a starting point would be really helpful!
Cheers.
I'd use Odin to flash to a lollipop/mm stock image. And reroot/install a custom recovery yourself and start completely fresh.
i agree with @InsanePostman. If its an actual g900p (i only say it that way because some chinese products can be cleverly made knock-offs) then get the OK4 tar.md5 and Odin and flash the tar.md5 in the AP slot of odin.
Stock OK4 image
Odin
heres a good thread on a different site showing how to use odin to flash a stock image
and chainfires autoroot
Thanks guys, I'm going to give this a shot tonight. I have confirmed it is a genuine g900p so I'll start with flashing a stock image. Is there some way I can backup my current ROM should anything go wrong I can restore to that?
Install twrp and make a backup. Otherwise as long as you can get to download mode, then you always fine barring the lack of computer or tarball

Just wanted to say thanks, this worked great! Nice to have Lollipop installed now. I'm in Canada and with this stock Sprint ROM I might look at installing some of the custom ROMs instead to get rid of the SPRINT apps and stuff. Thanks again for the support!
Right on man! Be sure to hit the thanks button when people helped!!
