[REVIEW] PolarCell 3400mah Note 4 Battery - Galaxy Note 4 Accessories

PolarCell 3400mah Note 4 Battery Review
You always wanted some extra power “juice” for your smartphone, even with the Note 4 which has very good battery life.
PolarCell sent me their Note 4 Battery with 180mah more capacity compared to the OEM Samsung battery.
Lets get started and see how it looks…

The battery itself has a simple minimalistic Design and matches with my White Note 4 very well.
It weights 1 gram more than the OEM battery and fits perfectly on the phone
Battery Life
Compared to the OEM Samsung’s original battery the battery life of PolarCell was as I expected , same SOT(screen on time) with more idle time .
Day 1 :
On first day use without calibration I managed to get 4hours and 30minutes of SOT from a full charge with almost 23hours in total use.
And I had 13% of battery juice left, that means I could get easily 30minutes more of SOT with Power Saving ON
Day 2 :
Day 2 was better I managed to get 1day and 5 hours from a single charge and 4hours and 20minutes of SOT and I had 15% more battery to spend.
I found myself browsing and using social apps a lot.
Later on you will see Day 3 and 4 , nothing different there just using Whatsapp,Viber,Browsing,Facebook,Instagram and Snapchat a lot and 3G/4G is ON most of the time.
Day 3 :
Day 4 :
Gamebench
Running Asphalt 8 on Gamebench shows the exact same results with both batteries.
Galaxy Note 4 (Snadpragon 805, SM-N910F)
Median FPS: 42
FPS stability: 65%
Battery Life: 4h 12m
Pros :
- Can charge wirelessly
- Slower draining
- Higher total wake on times
- NFC Compatible
- It doesnt add any extra bulk, fits perfectly
Cons :
- I really don’t see any con on this product , there is nothing wrong buying a higher capacity battery in the same size.
Conclusion :
The battery is just an upgraded version of the OEM one, I barely noticed any difference. Its always better to have more capacity , but it always depends on how you use your phone.
With this battery you will NOT get more SOT time, you will just get higher Total wake on times.
I noticed that when the status of the Note 4 is idle the battery is draining slower compared to the original battery.
I will stick with this battery because I get better total wake up times, so far the product seems very reliable and stable. Works fine with the QiReceiver and can charge wirelessly.
Overall the product has a German – premium – quality that only gives you extra benefits. I recommend this battery to anyone.
You can get your own battery from here :
ebay link

thanks for the review. I'm expecting my Note 4 to arrive in about 2 weeks from today so I will probably get this extra battery as well

i assume this battery does not quick charge(qualcomm chip). i have not seen any after market batteries that do contain

What is the ROM and Kernel you are using?
Thanks

So with this Batterie i can not use fast charging? I am right?
Gesendet von meinem SM-N910F mit Tapatalk

I too am curious about fast charging, as well as if you are using any custom ROMS or kernels. My ATT Note 4 can only use stock stuff.
Also, some other questions:
Does the battery fit properly in the phone? ie, no wiggling, sliding, etc?
Does the battery heat up any more than stock?
And finally, does the phone register the correct battery level? ie, the battery level doesn't decrease normally, but then stay at, say, 5% for a few hours. OR, the battery percent doesn't decrease and then magically increase a few % randomly?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk

The fast charging is a very good question, as it would limit the capabilities of this battery.
I have also noticed in your comments that you mention wireless charging, but couldn't find the info anywhere on the ebay page or when googling for the battery.
Can you please confirm this is working as well?
Thank you.

I emailed the Polarcell seller via Ebay to ask 2 questions.
First- in case anyone is interested- this battery will work in any Note 4 using the EB-BN910BBU model of battery. This should include the US Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T versions of the phone.
The second question was in regards to the fast charging. The guy said that it does work, but it isn't recommended. To me, the reason for not recommending it had nothing to do with the battery itself, but rather the long-running debate of whether fast charging affects battery life (speed of drain) or long-term battery health (battery degradation over time).
His response:
"Regarding the fast charging: it works with our battery but in general we do not reccomend it. Fast charging does not use the whole capacity of the battery and the overall performance is not as good as using regular charging."
So there we have it.

Update:
I just ordered one. It will be here in a few weeks since it's coming from Germany and I live in the US.
I'm really interested in the longer standby time since I average about 2hrs of SOT every day, so more standby time would be nice.

Fast charging chipset is imbedded in your Note4. this battery just accepts whatever the phone provides it in terms of power. Fast charging has been there for decades but it can easily overheat a battery and shortens it's lifespan. It's recommended to use slow charging and charge overnight, slow charging stays a tad longer by the way, but just a tad.

Hey guys, I just got my battery about 2 hours ago. I charged my phone while eating dinner (normal charge, not fast charge), and took the phone off the charger at about 92%. I've been on Tapatalk now for about 16 minutes and have only lost 2% battery. With my stock battery, I think drain was a little faster.
I can't make conclusions yet though. I will need until Friday night to tell for sure whether this battery is any good. During weekdays, I use my phone about the same way every day, so I tend to come home with about the same amount of battery left. So I'll easily be able to tell how this new battery compares to the stock one.
I will say this though:
I've bought a few "slim extended batteries" before for other phones. All turned out to be Chinese low quality batteries. They tend to be some cheapo plastic battery with a sticker wrapped around them. This Polarcell battery is really nicely made though. It has similar build quality as the stock battery, and the label is printed directly onto the metal casing of the battery. I'm impressed with the build quality at the very least so far.

Very nice
My note 4 gives me 4 hours and 30 minutes of SOT. I was hoping this one lasts much longer than 5 hours.. but still 5 hours and little bit more is still good..

I guess I can report back now.
First of all, 3400mAh isn't that much more than 3220mAh. So it lasting "much longer" than the stock battery is an overly high expectation.
I pretty much use my phone the same way every day, with the exception of the occasional higher-than-usual day. I pretty much end my day with 5% more battery than with stock. I can't give you a SOT estimate since I usually end my day with about 2-3 hours of SOT and between 20-30% battery remaining.
Overall, the battery does last a little bit longer than stock, but nothing amazing. However, the build quality of the battery is excellent. It's not a cheap Chinese battery made of plastic. This thing is of equal or higher quality to the OEM battery!

Yeah, it's a good battery. It just won't give you any amazing increase in battery life. It does increase life a little bit, but not by hours.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk

yep... as mentioned in my review you dont see big improvement in battery life , you just get some extra juice and it works better in idle mode

I also bought this battery several days ago from the same store on eBay Germany as you all..
Checking the amperage, did you guys mange to find an application to show the real 3400 mAh value on battery proprieties?
Using system settings and CPU-Z, PhoneInfo or AIDA64 still showing as 3220mAh. Is this OK?

Today I ordered this battery. When I will receive battery I will do complete report etc... Also I receive notice that it will be send from Germany.

3,600mAh battery review

All righty so after much pondering and wondering 'should I' and 'what if'... I finally said screw it and bought the 3,600mAh Mugen Power Battery for my G2
Pricey at $100 and nearly 3 weeks to get due to back order, it was tough... but once I got it, installed it, charged it, deep cycled a couple times... battery life is flat out awesome.
Typical daily usage for me includes 2-3 sessions of 20 minutes of streaming music (Pandora or Subsonic), 20 minutes calling, ~50 to 100 SMS, ~20 emails, and occasionally I'll get on the browser and check stuff out online.
I leave GPS and 3G on all the time, Sync is always on, I turn WiFi on when I'm at home, sometimes I use bluetooth (very rare) for keyboard.. I use Automatic brightness
On my G2 using CM7, and overclock to 1.1Ghz w/ONDEMAND governor stock 1300mAh battery achieved 14-20 hours of run time, typically the phone was dead after around 15 hours. Sometimes I would get more if I didn't use it much, other times if I GPS on battery, I get 10-12 hours
Now with 3600mAh.. the WORST I've gotten (this was trying to kill the phone asap) I got 20 hours. Mind you I had NAV on when it wasn't needed, I left brightness at max, left WiFi and bluetooth on, etc etc...
I've been using the phone today normally, my battery is at 82% and I've been 9 hours and 19 minutes since unplugged. This battery is ridiculously awesome!! I haven't even been able to drain it under normal usage, yet lol
The size it added is not all that big of a deal.. I can post some pictures but the fat cover adds maybe 1/8 inch to the phone's thickness. Its ugly IMO... but its functionality has captured my heart lol I really do love the run time with this battery, it was so worth ditching my case and paying $100 for it. I really do like it!
I'll post pics when I get another camera to snap some of the phone (my phone has become my primary camera LOL)

3,600mah Battery is 12% in this picture.. Could have done MUCH better though:
You can see a sharp drop.. I played games on the phone for 2-3 hours. I imagine if I did not play any games on it, I could have gone much longer.. I would guess perhaps another 12-24 hours on this charge!
Huh?
Sorry, your avatar distracted me
Nice review though, I stuck with the mugen 1800 and it serves my purpose. Get's me easily through the day with the little extra kick if needed

Thanks for the info. I am in need of finding another battery solution because I end up having to charge on the car ride home every day to use for the evening. Its a pain.

The battery is pretty good. I can get a full days use easy out of it. This includes heavy browsing, games, 100-200 texts a day, email, Twitter and Facebook. Here is the link, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120680372473&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I also have a picture of it on the phone itself.
I bit and got the 1800 mAh battery, didn't want the extra bulkness, but needed something to get over this crappy stock battery, I usually do a lot of texting/talking on my mytouch 4g and it would usually get me thru the day if not more then 24 hours including stand by. With this battery, I couldn't get thru a whole day w/o charging, so hoping the 1800 mah battery can help.

most are this batteries are mislabeled either way haha... I prefer paying for the mislabeled 3600 since I'll get it in like 3 days rather than like 20 XD
These 3500 mAH batteries aren't bad at all. I've been using it for 2 weeks now, and I can last 2 days no problem. Only challenge is trying to completely kill the battery.
Might save a few bucks, but you have to be careful with these no-name batteries.
They sometimes only test at 60-70% of the capacity they're listed at.
http://batteryboss.org/
Now Id still say this is a better deal than the Seidio or Mugen, considering the 3200 Mugen tested at 75% of the capacity promised, and Seidio 3500mah at 81% of promised capacity.
The no name (different no-name but still) 3600mah tested in at 2466mah, 70%, but costs a lot less that the Seidio and Mugen (15% the price).
I bought a 3500mah. Hopefully the battery life makes up for the bulkness of the phone.
One question. Does it feel weird with the big battery in your pocket?

3500ma extended battery with cover from Amazon

I received this battery from Amazon last weekend. LG Optimus 2X G2x P999 Black Battery Door With 2700mAh Battery I'm on my second charge cycle (actually 13% left before I charge on the second cycle) and my phone has been up over 2 1/2 days, see screenshot.
I got lucky and then sent me a 3500mAh battery instead of the 2700mAh one advertised. Total cost to me was $8.74. Cheap enough and the larger battery more than makes up for the larger battery cover. After a couple of days, I barely notice the larger size.

How come…
Grats... Enjoy the battery!
Thanks. While I don't use my phone as much as I used to since I got my tablet, the battery life is amazing.
lol, in for one. At $8 its worth a try.
I just bought one off of Ebay yesterday. Supposed to be here Monday. Looking forward to it.
Received mine a few days ago. EASILY tripled my battery life, (coming from the Andida 1980mAh, running Owain CM9 beta, with Harsh kernel). $8 well spent, thanks!
I got that battery a month or two ago, at first it worked great, after 20 cycles or so the battery just tool a big dump. I mean yeah it still lasts last longer than the stock battery but it last half if what it originally started at

That's my question for anyone who buys the el-cheapo extended life batteries, how long do they really last? I can't see paying $8 every month cause the battery won't hold a charge after that time.
Anyone know any good ones?

I bought my Anker 2800mAh on April 26, 2012. It's been almost a full 2 months into its life and still functioning as well as it did when I bought it. Get close to 45-46hrs of function going from a full 100% down to the teens. Mind you my usage will be different than yours (as it always is the case), but I can't complain about my new battery at all.
I've had this battery for almost a month now. I'm still getting 2+ days use out of it. No sign of`lessened use. Am still happy with this purchase.
I actually made a video for this battery, or I assume its the same one.. I ordered the 2700 because I didn't like the way the 3500 curved but I ended up getting the 3500 and you adjust to it pretty quick, got mine months ago still holding up strong, can get easy 40 hours on my kind of usage when its moderate and on heavy usage (my style) 24-28 hours.
I've had a pair of these batteries for close to 8 months now. I I have to say between the two they ate amazing ith equally consistent results. I usually get around 30-35, hey usage most I've gotten out of it surprisingly was a little over 80hrs! With light usage.

I got the 2700 mAH battery and have had it for two days. Charged it first time fully and used and got a whole 14 hours out of it. Charged again fully and left it on charger after showing full for another 3 hours. Shut the phone down and wiped battery stats and restarted. Still getting questionable life. With the stock battery runn HFS 1.8 and the latest Harsh kernel OC'd to 656 Min and 1400 max and UV'ing as well I used to get about 10 hours off of a stock battery. Now I am seeing 14 with the 2700 mAH. Granted the OC doesn't help but I should be seeing more than 4 hours. No?

Extended battery thoughts

Anyone here invest in an extended battery with case and have any input on their experience with it? I have heard hyperion is good but it has very mixed reviews online and there are issues with getting a decent back plate. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

16% screen time? Well I can last longer on stock battery
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I bought an extended battery 4500mah on ebay for $8 a couple weeks ago from ebay. It makes the phone twice as thick, but the battery lasts all day with moderate use. I haven't put my phone on the charger mid-day since I bought it. Being that its a cheap generic battery, there is no brand name and I can't verify the capacity is accurate, but it is getting the job done. I'm at work and can't really give any more specifics, but heres a quick comparison
Pros: 1 overnight charge lasts all day, phone not much heavier, GSAM app seems to accurately adapt, Thicker case seems to protect rear camera and light better without obstructing them. Makes you more attractive to opposite gender (this may be a false claim)
Cons: Phone thicker, loss of NFC chip, longer charge time, must charge from lower capacity to avoid confusing battery estimation mechanisms (under 40ish%) Harder to find protective cases, and old ones will not fit.
the gs3 is the first phone i haven't thought of buying a bigger battery for. i get great life with the stock one, much better than my razr maxx had.
I was about to buy one of these extend bateries, but making the phone twice as thick is a turn off....
Thanks for all the responses so far. What I did was buy another oem nfc enabled battery, and a phone mount charger with battery charger. I am actually getting all day charge with heavy use and switching in a fresh one before sleep. The only reason I was curious about extended was because I enjoy hiking and photography. But unless you get 2 days use it doesn't appear to be much better than buying multiple stock batteries.

i ended up getting the extended battery from hyperion on amazon.
i live in miami, and lost power for like 2 days over a month back and instantly i realized i needed this fat battery.
it actually feels better when i grip it. and i love that i forget at times to charge and its all good.
i got it for my wife since she is always killing her phone. it goes all day sometimes 1 day and half.
it's funny though because the size may turn you off but size wize it matches other friends of mine who also have the s3 and they over do it with the thick cases and stock battery.
Does anyone know how to reset the phone to give an accurate read out of the bigger battery?
Is there such a need to do so?
With these batteries the specs for a OEM battery is like days in standby. Would not one think that an extended battery would last weeks, and not drain in a day of hanging out in your pocket with little WiFi, calls, and text messages?
I know the ones they sell on e bay and Amazon are old new batteries as they have been sitting in storage and shelf live has caught up to them.
This is the only explanation for such a short time before having to recharge them.
I have never had a brand new hot off the press battery, as I get my phones at the pawn shop discounted. Hence they are already discontinued by the service providers.
I wouldn't even trust buying a new OEM battery from them as there is no telling how long they have had there batteries in stock just sitting there getting old depreciating.

I agree - stock battery is good but I bought an extended anyway for longer gaming sessions.
I use the stock battery when at work so I can use my otterbox, but in my leisure time the hyperion battery rocks. No complaints on the stock battery, liking the hyperion as well.
My complaint is losing data service under 50% battery - hyperion staves that off longer.
But does hyperion really offer more than a day these responses seem to confirm my worries of it not being double as advertised but maybe in the 1.25 to 1.75 range? And if all the stock batteries have been sitting on the shelf how would the hyperion battery be any different? I am really considering investing in a hyperion still because 3 batteries would be ownage and I generally go on hikes for 2 to 3 days and my 2 stocks might not make it. Climbing a peak and taking a panoramic is truly special. But at this point investing in a new case with a hyperion might be more hassle than buying some more oems on the cheap.
Anyways thanks for the responses everyone. And PROTIP storing your battery at 50% in a dry cool place is what is recommended for long term storage. Also I learned recently that letting your battery go through a full discharge and then recharging actually leads to a longer battery life span, by a huge factor!
PS sorry admins and others I just joined this forum and realize this whole thread should have been placed in the accessories section I hope my gaff does not make you think less of me.

Well first remember 16% becomes a larger number when you have more capacity also there were several other items being used. Also this was the first tinting charge of a cycle. The phone talk time ended up over 4 hours or so as well also I need several restarts. I am happy with it

Galaxy S4 Anker 2600mAh Review on Tmobile S4

First and foremost I just have to say that I have been sent these batteries to test as I have been testing batteries for Anker for over 2 years. This battery has to be the best one so far. The Anker 2600mAh for the S4 has incredible battery life and lasts about 50% longer than that of the OEM Samsung battery. The charging time is the same as OEM too! When you receive the battery i suggest you complete the charge because it isn't completely charged from the factory. Great points about this better battery are:
-Actually has built in NFC for a slim replacement battery
-Battery life is just straight up longer than OEM
-I use Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Google Maps, Skyfire, Text, and Talk on the phone literally all day long as my job permits
-Battery is the same size as the stock so no worries about the phone "bulking up"
-Dependable company for aftermarket batteries
-Brightness about half way up
Through many rigorous tests, compared to an OEM battery, this battery has lasted me about 50% longer than the standard Samsung battery. Now many of you that have the S4 already know that the S4 battery is pretty good considering the power of the phone. With the factory battery i have been able to have the phone last 20h 22m 14s. The longest this battery lasted me was 33h 07m 10s. On the heaviest day i used the phone though it was 29h 46m 58s. So that is why i am going to say at least 50% longer. The battery cells have always been quality cells provided by Anker and hold the charge over a long period of time. I am very pleased with the battery and am confident in this product as well as there 2100mAh replacement for the S4, which i will be writing about as well. For the price point and functionality of this product it would be nonsense not to make this purchase and have the battery life you need from your new powerhouse phone!
I would also like to just give a big THANK YOU to Anker for their awesome products and keep up the good work!
the stock battery is rated at 2600mah. getting 50% more battery life from another battery also rated at 2600mah seems unlikely. either something is wrong with the stock battery or anker are magicians.
That's what i thought at first but the cells are incredible in the anker. That's the first thing i buy for any phone i own(considering it has a removable battery) are spare batteries because i eat up batteries all day long. lol

Why would they release a battery with a smaller maH rating than the OEM Samsung battery?
This whole thread is weird and is suspect.
I doubt Samsung would use sub par cells considering they are one of the largest manufacturers of top tier lithium cells. Something isn't adding up when a battery of the same capacity is claiming to get 50% more life.
I have the same battery, although I haven't really put it to the test beyond seeing that it would actually charge to 100% so I can't speak as to how much longer than the stock battery it goes.
It is slightly bigger than the original battery, though. You really have to press all the sides of the back door in at the same time to get the back to go on.
50% more is really suspect... it has the same mah rating so I figure the most would be a +10% (for increased quality). In any rate, you are getting equivalent or more than stock, which makes it a good alternative.

Every replacement Anker battery I have purchased, (Vibrant, MT4G, Sensation, GS2, GS3) has lasted longer than the stock battery. Maybe not 50% longer, but noticeably longer. An Anker is destined for my SIV as well.
I have two of these batteries on the charger at home right now getting their first charge. I'll weigh in on this tomorrow after testing

On german Amazon homepage we can read, that Anker batteries have nearly the same battery life.
So 50% more? I can not believe you at the moment.
I have a set of these fresh from Anker, my only complaint is that they battery width is about .5mm thicker than the stock battery, its not enough to prevent the battery door from closing, but it was enough to notice a "bulge" pressing on the back cover to see it the upper and lower of the battery corners. Ill keep them for spares, but im sticking with stock for the day to day use.
Also note, that battery life was the same if not slightly less than with stock.
50% more power on same mAh is hard to believe.

You need to compare the batteries under the same conditions. What if for one battery you streamed music for hours and for the other battery you let it sit and do nothing? You need to run the test under the same conditions. Without that the comparison is meaningless.
Since you may not be able to let your phone sit untouched for that long, you could find an app that'll drain the battery the same way over a shorter period of time (e.g. leave it streaming music or running navigation). You may think that's a bunch of trouble to go through, but if you are a "battery tester" for Anker, then it should be standard procedure.
Excellent points everyone. I'll reevaluate the batteries over the next couple days. I did do a lot with the phone the first couple days like root debloat etc

That does not prove anything. Your device has been idle most of the time. I call it BS on the 50% more juice. It has to take some breakthrough technology to get that much juice with the same size battery. So nice try.

Replacing the S6 Battery with S7 Edge Battery

Hello! I saw some guys changing the S6 battery with S7 Edge battery and it worked. This guy got 18h on battery and 4h SOT.
Here is the link: http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=1155869&page=9
You can see first the screenshots on page 9 and on page 10 you can see the actual battery in the phone.
I was wondering how can I open S6 safe, change battery and close it like new?
Unibody phones are very hard to take apart never mind put back together as everything is glued together. If you have no experience in this type of thing I wouldn't attempt it as you might risk damaging your phone.

You can check out my attempt to do so. It is not that hard, although I scratched tha paint from the inside when removing the back - its only cosmetic and not really noticable. If you have the proper tools its not such a big deal - the S7 Edge battery is almost the same size as the original S6 one. Still day 1 with the new battery, but so far it has been 9 hours and barely 25 percent drain. After some charge/discharge cycles it will probably improve even more.
Especially since my original battery had significantly degraded, the difference is night and day.

That's not quite "almost" the same size, the giant bulge created by the excess battery width is actually quite dangerous. All those exploding phones you see in the news, that's what happens when your battery is too big for the compartment it's in. Especially when charging, as the battery expands by up to 10%.
Good luck, and be safe.

Can you update your battery stats ?? i think after lots of calibration you should have a more accurate percantage right? i read on a spanish site that you need to charge the phone at no more then 2% after a week of calibration and never let discharge it complitely! can you share your stats pls?

As for the "giant bulge"... I would definitely not use these words - as you can see the thickness of the batteries is very similar. I agree of course that this is certainly not 100% safe and of course should be done with full awareness that you are cramming a battery with very chemically reacive metal in a body that was not designed to hold it.
But don't get me started on the whole "exploding phones" bull**** - the media hysteria for less than 100 incidents from a batch of 2.5 million devices was just ridiculous. On a recent flight the air attendant asked any Note 7 owners to report to the captain... I mean come on...
I am not saying there was no issue with the Note 7 design, but that was just so much overblown, its not even funny.

I just did the mod yesterday - will update my article after I have several charge/discharge cycles - sometime during the holidays probably.
Regarding the battery percentage reading, a few words - a battery can't tell how much charge it has left - you can only measure its output voltage. You define 0% charge as the minimum safe voltage under which your circuit can operate. So what Android does is that it creates a table with statistics about voltage readings and estimated charge. So after some cycles from 100% to 0%, this table gives pretty good estimation about your current battery charge in percentage. Switching from one battery to another, means that you need to reset those statistics, to have an accurate estimation. Since the file that holds those statistics is in the system partition, this can be done either via some service menu on some phones, or with an app with root access. So yeah - I did reset my battery stats and am still on the first charge (29 hours since unplugged) so it will take some time before I have some accurate battery stats to show.

Hey, did you manage to fit the backplate glass with this new battery? I have found a thread on reddit in which the guy states that the battery won't fit (in terms of thickness).
The guy actually suggest to use S7 battery.
Could you please post some more photos of modded phone?

Well, honestly I had only one day with "typical" activity, since there are holidays, I am pushing the phone really hard, but the actual one day that I was using the phone normally, my phone died after 30 hours of usage with about 3 hours SOT.
The first few dischages, the battery was showing 1% battery for the last "real" 10 percent. Lately it was getting better, but still a bit inaccurate.
As promised I will update the blog post, when I have enough data.
wauw i am really excited about this mod.
Here is another thread on the subject (especially the last few pages): https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/accessories/legit-aftermarket-larger-internal-t3270489
I'm using the S7 flat battery at the moment, which also works and brings nice results. It's much smaller but a little thicker than the S7 edge battery and fits quick well. With a 0.5 mm double sided tape, the backcover doesn't put obvious pressure on the battery.

Here is an update about my battery life after the mod.
Huh, I guess S7 Edge battery that I got is fake, isn't it?
Album here (comparing to the original S6 battery): http://imgur.com/a/OsA8L
I finished the mod yesterday, charged to 100% and tried to play around with a phone a bit from time to time. Battery died sooner than I expected. I will collect more result for the next two days and will get back here with some actual stats (and probably I will look for another battery as this one seems odd to me)
looks different that original, anyway I don't suggest this type of replacement, even if is same voltage charging ic from s6 is design to charge a smaller capacity battery than s7

Battery percentage <-- Android driver <-- Battery circuit <-- Li-Ion battery voltage sensor
There is no such thing as phone "designed to charge a smaller battery". At least that is gross oversimplification... As long as the batteries operate on a similar minimum an maximum voltage, the charging "algorithm" will be more or less the same, and they will only take more time to reach the maximum voltage (max capacity) and be able to churn more power before the voltage drops to the minimum allowed ("zero" capacity). The initial configuration of the driver that tells what percentage is a specific voltage reading (i.e. 3.85 V = 75%) is specific not only for the battery model, but also changes over time as the battery degrades, so there is constant self correction of this voltage-to-percentage table, which people refer as "calibrating a battery". So even that S6 is configured initially to expect certain battery model, after deleting the old "calibration data" + some charge/discharge cycles - it adapts to the new battery characteristics.
So the battery indicator is pretty complicated stuff - we really can't tell how much charge a battery has left, so we approximate it. And pretty well at that, as you all know.
It is even more nuanced, as for example, when your phone charges to 100% and is plugged in, it stops charging and "lies" to you that it is 100%, when it is silently dropping to the nineties, to minimize battery degradation. Imagine the number of support calls that you will get from angry customers, telling you that their charger/phone is broken and can't charge to maximum.
Works the replacement with a Galaxy S6Edge ? So can i change the battery in my s6e with a battery from the s7e?
Hello guys, I realized this mod. First I have to say it is easy task with lot of tools and heater. After battery replace (original new one s7 edge) the back cover doesn't fit like stock, but almost like stock. If you remove NFC/wireless charging tape then back cover fits like stock.
After few days using my phone I see better battery SoT, but I am not sure if s6 really using whole huge capacity of 3600mAh. I think there is sw/hw limit for battery capacity.
My s6 stays on 1% battery for 30min Sot, and another 30min in TWRP with 0-1% after android shutted down. When s6 is charged says 1h to full, but really time is almost 2h with black screen.
I want to try S7 nonedge battery with 3000mAh and I expecting same results like with s7e because limitation. S7 battery is smaller, lightweight and thicker.
Hope I help.

Where did you get your battery?
Yes I am using accu battery app. It says 2800mah battery capacity with s7e battery against replaced s6 stock with 2000mah measured.
I bough official s7e battery, not eBay clone.
