3500ma extended battery with cover from Amazon - T-Mobile LG G2x

I received this battery from Amazon last weekend. LG Optimus 2X G2x P999 Black Battery Door With 2700mAh Battery I'm on my second charge cycle (actually 13% left before I charge on the second cycle) and my phone has been up over 2 1/2 days, see screenshot.
I got lucky and then sent me a 3500mAh battery instead of the 2700mAh one advertised. Total cost to me was $8.74. Cheap enough and the larger battery more than makes up for the larger battery cover. After a couple of days, I barely notice the larger size.

How comeā€¦

Grats... Enjoy the battery!

Thanks. While I don't use my phone as much as I used to since I got my tablet, the battery life is amazing.

lol, in for one. At $8 its worth a try.

I just bought one off of Ebay yesterday. Supposed to be here Monday. Looking forward to it.

Received mine a few days ago. EASILY tripled my battery life, (coming from the Andida 1980mAh, running Owain CM9 beta, with Harsh kernel). $8 well spent, thanks!

I got that battery a month or two ago, at first it worked great, after 20 cycles or so the battery just tool a big dump. I mean yeah it still lasts last longer than the stock battery but it last half if what it originally started at

That's my question for anyone who buys the el-cheapo extended life batteries, how long do they really last? I can't see paying $8 every month cause the battery won't hold a charge after that time.
Anyone know any good ones?

Mine and my friends still running strong.

I bought my Anker 2800mAh on April 26, 2012. It's been almost a full 2 months into its life and still functioning as well as it did when I bought it. Get close to 45-46hrs of function going from a full 100% down to the teens. Mind you my usage will be different than yours (as it always is the case), but I can't complain about my new battery at all.

I've had this battery for almost a month now. I'm still getting 2+ days use out of it. No sign of`lessened use. Am still happy with this purchase.

I actually made a video for this battery, or I assume its the same one.. I ordered the 2700 because I didn't like the way the 3500 curved but I ended up getting the 3500 and you adjust to it pretty quick, got mine months ago still holding up strong, can get easy 40 hours on my kind of usage when its moderate and on heavy usage (my style) 24-28 hours.

I've had a pair of these batteries for close to 8 months now. I I have to say between the two they ate amazing ith equally consistent results. I usually get around 30-35, hey usage most I've gotten out of it surprisingly was a little over 80hrs! With light usage.

I got the 2700 mAH battery and have had it for two days. Charged it first time fully and used and got a whole 14 hours out of it. Charged again fully and left it on charger after showing full for another 3 hours. Shut the phone down and wiped battery stats and restarted. Still getting questionable life. With the stock battery runn HFS 1.8 and the latest Harsh kernel OC'd to 656 Min and 1400 max and UV'ing as well I used to get about 10 hours off of a stock battery. Now I am seeing 14 with the 2700 mAH. Granted the OC doesn't help but I should be seeing more than 4 hours. No?

did you follow the directions and leave it charging over night fully discharge and charge again all that usually helps keep improving the charge life but then again sometimes you just get a dud battery I was getting over 20 hours on my similar battery and upgraded to higher getting way over a day

just saying...

not a bad battery life

Hmm, guess I'll get this for camping, probably won't work for my case, but the battery life is worth it..

3,600mAh battery review

All righty so after much pondering and wondering 'should I' and 'what if'... I finally said screw it and bought the 3,600mAh Mugen Power Battery for my G2
Pricey at $100 and nearly 3 weeks to get due to back order, it was tough... but once I got it, installed it, charged it, deep cycled a couple times... battery life is flat out awesome.
Typical daily usage for me includes 2-3 sessions of 20 minutes of streaming music (Pandora or Subsonic), 20 minutes calling, ~50 to 100 SMS, ~20 emails, and occasionally I'll get on the browser and check stuff out online.
I leave GPS and 3G on all the time, Sync is always on, I turn WiFi on when I'm at home, sometimes I use bluetooth (very rare) for keyboard.. I use Automatic brightness
On my G2 using CM7, and overclock to 1.1Ghz w/ONDEMAND governor stock 1300mAh battery achieved 14-20 hours of run time, typically the phone was dead after around 15 hours. Sometimes I would get more if I didn't use it much, other times if I GPS on battery, I get 10-12 hours
Now with 3600mAh.. the WORST I've gotten (this was trying to kill the phone asap) I got 20 hours. Mind you I had NAV on when it wasn't needed, I left brightness at max, left WiFi and bluetooth on, etc etc...
I've been using the phone today normally, my battery is at 82% and I've been 9 hours and 19 minutes since unplugged. This battery is ridiculously awesome!! I haven't even been able to drain it under normal usage, yet lol
The size it added is not all that big of a deal.. I can post some pictures but the fat cover adds maybe 1/8 inch to the phone's thickness. Its ugly IMO... but its functionality has captured my heart lol I really do love the run time with this battery, it was so worth ditching my case and paying $100 for it. I really do like it!
I'll post pics when I get another camera to snap some of the phone (my phone has become my primary camera LOL)

3,600mah Battery is 12% in this picture.. Could have done MUCH better though:
You can see a sharp drop.. I played games on the phone for 2-3 hours. I imagine if I did not play any games on it, I could have gone much longer.. I would guess perhaps another 12-24 hours on this charge!
Huh?
Sorry, your avatar distracted me
Nice review though, I stuck with the mugen 1800 and it serves my purpose. Get's me easily through the day with the little extra kick if needed

The battery is pretty good. I can get a full days use easy out of it. This includes heavy browsing, games, 100-200 texts a day, email, Twitter and Facebook. Here is the link, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120680372473&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I also have a picture of it on the phone itself.
I bit and got the 1800 mAh battery, didn't want the extra bulkness, but needed something to get over this crappy stock battery, I usually do a lot of texting/talking on my mytouch 4g and it would usually get me thru the day if not more then 24 hours including stand by. With this battery, I couldn't get thru a whole day w/o charging, so hoping the 1800 mah battery can help.

most are this batteries are mislabeled either way haha... I prefer paying for the mislabeled 3600 since I'll get it in like 3 days rather than like 20 XD
These 3500 mAH batteries aren't bad at all. I've been using it for 2 weeks now, and I can last 2 days no problem. Only challenge is trying to completely kill the battery.
Might save a few bucks, but you have to be careful with these no-name batteries.
They sometimes only test at 60-70% of the capacity they're listed at.
http://batteryboss.org/
Now Id still say this is a better deal than the Seidio or Mugen, considering the 3200 Mugen tested at 75% of the capacity promised, and Seidio 3500mah at 81% of promised capacity.
The no name (different no-name but still) 3600mah tested in at 2466mah, 70%, but costs a lot less that the Seidio and Mugen (15% the price).
I bought a 3500mah. Hopefully the battery life makes up for the bulkness of the phone.
One question. Does it feel weird with the big battery in your pocket?

bay 2300mAh Battery $17

Just received mine in the mail today from China. Thanks to s0cc3rstud for the find. I am going to test it out and come back to do a write up on the results after a few days. First off though it only looks a tiny bit bigger then stock. Although it feels heavier. But then again that could be the placebo effect.
2300mAh Battery for HTC Sensation G14 Pyramid z710e
interesting. I wonder how they packed so much juice into only a slightly larger battery.
Let us know if it lives up to the 2300mAh.
Best test you could run is to get/borrow a voltage meter and test the actual capacity of the battery.
I just got mine today as well. Initiallly it was almost full so I topped it off. The battery is draining fast. Almost 15% in first hour in standby, but I will drain it and recharge and see. Listing stated to drain and charge 3 times to get peak performance

Might be wrong but this sounds too good to be true. I even doubted the anker 1900 Mah for 10 bucks but bought it after so many positive review. Let us know.
I got a free 2300mAh battery for my Sensation and it works fine.. I think it lasts longer than my official HTC battery but it's hard to really test it because I'd have to fully charge and then kill both batteries doing exactly the same tasks for the same amount of time.. but honestly I think the 2300 is better..
8 hours of mild use, no wifi, no gps and Im less than 20%. That sucks. Not as good as I expected. I will drain dry and erase battery stats via recovery one more time and see what happens.

ok, testing continued.....
Phone sat untouched all night with no charger plugged in. Went from 100% to 70% in 11 hours. Im still not convinced that the battery is still 2400 mAh
Well day two was interesting. First off I can say without a doubt in my mind that this is NOT a 2300 mah. Seems to hold better then stock though... but not by much. I unplugged it at 6am and with moderate use it is now at 18%. Battery indicator app. say it has been unplugged for 14 hour and 40 mins. So I guess over all $17 for a spare isn't bad at all. Just really wish it lived up to the promise.

Open it up. It's probably like the "made in japan gold business" battery - a small battery with spacers on the sides
when will people learn. there is no magic way to squeeze another several hundred mAH into the same size. these batteries are almost always a scam. check out www.batteryboss.org for a guy who tested several of these some time back.

$17 is way too much for a spare. I got supposedly 3 1600MAh (I would guess they would be 800MAh-1200MAh actually) batteries and an external battery charger for $16. Also, nicky041192, why would a battery app say 1580MAh no matter what battery you had in it, considering the stock battery is 1520MAh.

new battery makes a world of difference!!!

I noticed one day that my battery stats wouldn't reset after charging it or a battery pull. If the battery was anywhere above 50% and I did a pull, it would restart showing 100%. It ended up getting to the point that I couldn't use the phone for more than 5 minutes straight because it would die. I've had the phone almost a year, so I didn't think the battery would go out so quickly.
I went to the Tmobile store and they pulled the battery and told me to feel it. There is a hump/rounding that happens to the battery when it is shot or overcharged or something like that.
I got my replacement in yesterday and charged it to 100%, then did a battery calibration this morning at 0430 after I took it off the charger. Here it is 0032 and I have 25% battery life left! Now, I am running Juicy Defender in aggressive mode, so I'm sure that helps quite a bit.
Other than that, I've been running CM7's last nightly (#252 I think), Radio 26.09.04.26, and kernel faux 1.0.7 CFS+ low voltage.a
I wanted to share in case anyone was having similar issues. I also forgot to mention that I got the battery for free and just had to pay for the standard ground shipping. Can't beat that!!

Well, screen on time is the real teller. Usually between 3 and 4 hours. When you see people getting 4 plus, you know their ROM/kernel/tweaks combo is dialed.
To illustrate, I charged and unplugged my phone before bed. When I got up it was at 11h 5m, 100%. But it had been laying there. 10 min after I started using it, it started dropping.

pinch the battery around the middle and slide your fingers toward the top of it (away from the contacts), then reverse. See if you feel a rounding or slight hump. If you do, then you might be due for one.
Can't really feel it.can it be something else or only cause of that?.does it have to feel or can the bump be noticeble too
Same here, I bought a new battery last week and this new battery is making one hell of a difference. Getting over a day with heavy usage on the new battery (straight Modern Combat 3, Sonic 4 Ep1 and Frontline Commando all day).

I really dont know what to tell you other than take it into a store and see if they can get you a replacement or troubleshoot it for you. I'm not an expert, so I dont want to pass bad information. This just happened to work for me and I thought it would help others. Good luck!
If they do charge you for the battery, try looking into the anker 1550 mAh batteries that estallings15 mentioned. They worked for him.

I wish I had taken pictures of my old Motorola battery. It was bulging so badly that it should have been on TV's The Biggest Loser. The cells will expand in time. The replacement battery actually rattled around for the first few months.
I highly recommend the 3rd party battery, that has 1800 ( or 1700) mah and is not extended. Fits perfectly and it gives you easy 18 hours with heavy use

Hmm, I think that I may be having the same problem actually. How did you go about telling them about your problem/getting them to replace it? You say that you're running CM7, so you're rooted and installed a custom ROM, which would void the warranty. Did the T-mobile employees give you any hassle with that?

Extended battery thoughts

Anyone here invest in an extended battery with case and have any input on their experience with it? I have heard hyperion is good but it has very mixed reviews online and there are issues with getting a decent back plate. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

16% screen time? Well I can last longer on stock battery
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I bought an extended battery 4500mah on ebay for $8 a couple weeks ago from ebay. It makes the phone twice as thick, but the battery lasts all day with moderate use. I haven't put my phone on the charger mid-day since I bought it. Being that its a cheap generic battery, there is no brand name and I can't verify the capacity is accurate, but it is getting the job done. I'm at work and can't really give any more specifics, but heres a quick comparison
Pros: 1 overnight charge lasts all day, phone not much heavier, GSAM app seems to accurately adapt, Thicker case seems to protect rear camera and light better without obstructing them. Makes you more attractive to opposite gender (this may be a false claim)
Cons: Phone thicker, loss of NFC chip, longer charge time, must charge from lower capacity to avoid confusing battery estimation mechanisms (under 40ish%) Harder to find protective cases, and old ones will not fit.
the gs3 is the first phone i haven't thought of buying a bigger battery for. i get great life with the stock one, much better than my razr maxx had.
I was about to buy one of these extend bateries, but making the phone twice as thick is a turn off....
Thanks for all the responses so far. What I did was buy another oem nfc enabled battery, and a phone mount charger with battery charger. I am actually getting all day charge with heavy use and switching in a fresh one before sleep. The only reason I was curious about extended was because I enjoy hiking and photography. But unless you get 2 days use it doesn't appear to be much better than buying multiple stock batteries.

i ended up getting the extended battery from hyperion on amazon.
i live in miami, and lost power for like 2 days over a month back and instantly i realized i needed this fat battery.
it actually feels better when i grip it. and i love that i forget at times to charge and its all good.
i got it for my wife since she is always killing her phone. it goes all day sometimes 1 day and half.
it's funny though because the size may turn you off but size wize it matches other friends of mine who also have the s3 and they over do it with the thick cases and stock battery.
Does anyone know how to reset the phone to give an accurate read out of the bigger battery?
Is there such a need to do so?
With these batteries the specs for a OEM battery is like days in standby. Would not one think that an extended battery would last weeks, and not drain in a day of hanging out in your pocket with little WiFi, calls, and text messages?
I know the ones they sell on e bay and Amazon are old new batteries as they have been sitting in storage and shelf live has caught up to them.
This is the only explanation for such a short time before having to recharge them.
I have never had a brand new hot off the press battery, as I get my phones at the pawn shop discounted. Hence they are already discontinued by the service providers.
I wouldn't even trust buying a new OEM battery from them as there is no telling how long they have had there batteries in stock just sitting there getting old depreciating.

I agree - stock battery is good but I bought an extended anyway for longer gaming sessions.
I use the stock battery when at work so I can use my otterbox, but in my leisure time the hyperion battery rocks. No complaints on the stock battery, liking the hyperion as well.
My complaint is losing data service under 50% battery - hyperion staves that off longer.
But does hyperion really offer more than a day these responses seem to confirm my worries of it not being double as advertised but maybe in the 1.25 to 1.75 range? And if all the stock batteries have been sitting on the shelf how would the hyperion battery be any different? I am really considering investing in a hyperion still because 3 batteries would be ownage and I generally go on hikes for 2 to 3 days and my 2 stocks might not make it. Climbing a peak and taking a panoramic is truly special. But at this point investing in a new case with a hyperion might be more hassle than buying some more oems on the cheap.
Anyways thanks for the responses everyone. And PROTIP storing your battery at 50% in a dry cool place is what is recommended for long term storage. Also I learned recently that letting your battery go through a full discharge and then recharging actually leads to a longer battery life span, by a huge factor!
PS sorry admins and others I just joined this forum and realize this whole thread should have been placed in the accessories section I hope my gaff does not make you think less of me.

Well first remember 16% becomes a larger number when you have more capacity also there were several other items being used. Also this was the first tinting charge of a cycle. The phone talk time ended up over 4 hours or so as well also I need several restarts. I am happy with it

Hyperion extended battery after a few cycles

Hyperion 5200mAh Extended Battery For Galaxy S4

Hello,
Does anyone have any experience with Hyperion extended batteries for the Galaxy S4?
http://www.amazon.com/Hyperion-Sams...F8&qid=1386316276&sr=8-1&keywords=s4+hyperion
I'm going to be ordering one soon but thought I should ask about the performance and experience by people who may have used it. It says that the battery now has NFC, can anyone using it confirm if it is true?
The battery has positive reviews on Amazon. Can anyone also tell how fat does the S4 get when used with the battery? Also what timings are you guys getting with the battery? Is an external case needed to avoid any ugliness or anything?
All this and if you have anything to else to add would be of great help.
I had a Hyperion with my s3 and it was a good battery. They have great customer service. It seemed like it started draining a little more than normal at 6 months or so but it could have been my imagination or poor cell signal. I emailed them for help/info and they rushed another battery out free of charged. Was willing to send the old one back but they told me to keep it.
I'd definitely buy from them again. I did get mine on Amazon like most things I buy. Went with a 3000 mah zero lemon for my s4 due to size. Lots of nice cases for stock size phones. Would love an extended waterproof case.
Curious about this as well. I had one for my Galaxy Nexus and it was great. Made the phone usable for most of the day finally. This phone has been pretty decent on battery, but when I know I am going to be using it a lot more it would be nice to have the extra battery.

Hi,
I have had them for my S3 and now my S4.
I have one of the 5200's for my S4. I get at least
2 days out of it with 20-30% left on second day.
No complaints at all.
Ken
Likewise, I have used Hyperion extended batteries in my S3 and now the 5200 in my S4. No complaints except I would like to find a water resistant extended protective case.
I have the 7500mah battery for my phone. And I can say I'm very pleased with it. The case it comes with is actually easier to hold. I'd definitely recommend it. I actually got around 11 hours of screen time when I first got it!

So it's been three days since I received my Hyperion 5200mah battery. Although the correct battery timings and percentage maybe shown after 4-5 cycles of charge-discharge-recharge, I'll post the screenshots of mine and will post again after the 4-5 cycles...

The charge cycle said is to be 10-12 hours however the battery is charging to a full faster than the said time. Could it be because of the difference in voltage? If I'm not wrong, US uses 110v mainly and here in KSA we have 220-240v. Could it be because of this?
Got a quick question!
I was instructed to let the phone charge for 10-12hrs even if the phone shows 100% full charge notification. How did you guys charge it?
You are not forced to charge it that long on first charging process. I did it not and do not have any problems.
More important is that if you charge your phone from now on, you have to charge 1-2 hours longer (depending on battery size 5200 vs 7500 mAh) after you have reached 100%.

I see. Thank you.
Normal charge takes around 5-6hours now which means I should charge for 7-8 hours in total.

if you have the 5200 hyperion just charge 6 hours. that is enough.

What do you mean?
Hyperion has pretty good quality, and their warranty support is good. Anker is another good brand for the extended batteries. (They don't do cases though)
Hyperion has a really nice TPU case that fits over the extended battery..
Screen time
Any news about screen time from you guys? That 9hrs screen time seems a bit ungodly
