Dropbox. If the 3.25 free gigs of space isn't enough, just set up multiple DB accounts. Upload pics to one, phone backups to another, docs/etc. to a different one for example. Anyway, that's what I've been doing for years now and it's worked out fine besides the signing in and out under different accounts.
•any site offering 5gb or more for free is usually a scam, phishing technique, or some other cyber STD, hack.
Stick to Google Drive, Dropbox, Box.

You're better off using Google Photos which connects to your Google account when you start up the app. You get unlimited storage when you upload your photos in a specific resolution or lower. I forgot the exact resolution. It does everything in the background or when you tell it to and it's completely free.

I guess you never specified if you want your photos made public or private?! Default Google settings have your uploaded photos readily available/visible to prying public eyes. Just a forwarning.

Not true at all. They're private until you decide to share them. And if you're lucky enough to be a Google Fiber customer you get 1TB of storage.

I use Flickr, works seemlessly for me so far. Default values are private... Creates an Auto Upload album (or something similar). You get 1TB i think for free.

Looks pretty attractive with free 1TB. Is there a file size or resolution limit? I don't want my photos to be altered after uploading.

Google photos works fine for me.

Its in beta stages but I bought it a few hours ago. It works great for downloading from your dropbox account and most uploads have worked very well so far except some .jpg images. First app of its kind for dropbox and I love it well worth the 2 bucks!
This is tempting. I know Dropbox has an official app on the way, but who knows how long that will take!
Is there a big advantage to using Dropbox over, say, Gmail? That's where I tend to stick files I want to get at from anywhere.
Dropbox has an unobtrusive program which you put on your PCs and it automagically keeps the Dropbox folder sync'd on those machines. (Without bogging things down or any effort involved, I might add.) Plus, you get a very nice web UI.
Sharing with other Dropbox users quite easy, and also allows sharing with the world via a public folder. It does some other stuff, too. I really don't see much overlap between Dropbox and Gmail. I love them both.
If anyone wants a referral code for some extra free space on dropbox, feel free to PM me.
This is just a thumbs up for Dropbox.
The Droidbox app works great on my Nexus! Well worth 2.00.
Dropbox is probably one of the best apps I've ever used period. Once installed, it just works. No intervention is required at all, and it really is set and forget software. Once it's running you don't even know it's there. The best!
i didn't find the iPhone app useful at all, but with Android I can see it being much much more useful with the actual ability to properly browse files. I'll wait till the official client though..
Why is`nt anyone mentioning that there`s no thumbnails, a bit useless if you cant see the picture you want, other than that its perfect

Way to bump a year old thread. Have you tried the official Dropbox app?
Well I`m pretty sure I have Dropbox, has the open box, so I take it from what your saying that it does have thumbnails?
Maybe I need an update
No, no thumbnails.
Well for it to be perfect, it does need it other than that I wont be using it, to many pictures...

nice idea, but can you explain, why you need access to my accounts?
Love the app. What would make it perfect is if it faded to the next picture instead of just cutting to it. Could this be implemented please?

I'm sure the developer doesn't mean any harm. Hopefully he'll be able to explain why. I'm not a dev, yet all I know is that a lot of apps that enable you to share things on facebook and other sharing sites, like to have access to your accounts. Maybe this is why this app wants access too?
Either way, I think it's a fantastic app. If only I could wind back the clock by 3,5 years so I could start making pics from the day my son was born

sure, I don't suspect this, but I still would like to know - take es file explorer eg, that can also share to other services, yet doesn't need access to my accounts:

In the Play store it states that it will backup your project to your Google Drive account. This would be why the app needs access to accounts.
There seems to be a bug with recent CM10.1 builds and this app. It worked fine before, but now whenever I take a pic it just freezes on the camera screen (although the app itself is still responsive) it doesn't proceed to the preview screen to confirm the pic. However I noticed this only happens when my face is actually in the middle of the image. If I take a pic of something else it goes on to the preview screen just fine.
This makes me think it's something to do with the "slow and buggy" face detection, but I get the same results whether it's turned on or off.
Any ideas?
Great App!
Just became a dad 2 months ago and I love this app. However, it will only create an SD video. If I try to go 720 or 1080 it gives an error something like "failed to create video, try changing video settings".
I have tried a few different video settings to no avail. Has anyone got any ideas?
Regards
Keliuss

Store, protect, and share amazing things.
My dropbox is almost full, cause with that 5GB you can't really store many files. I heard about copy.com, and I think it's a bit more secure (the creators are security experts) and you get 15 GB free space + 5GB with each referral. So I thought maybe you guys want to try it...
If you click on the link below, you can sign up and we will both receive 5GB extra storage. Very nice, isn't it?
(You get your 5GB bonus only if you install one of the clients/apps. APP)
TRY IT!
I got 108 gigabyte for free on my dropbox, so i don't really need another service.
How many referrals have you got so far from xda?
Yeah, but that's only for one year/two years isn't it? Got one so far.
I started using that service and I got so far around 35gb (three referrals through my signature, thanks guys!). I'm a little suspicious when it comes to clouding private data in new services, I mean, did anyone use it? How do you know it is trustworthy ?
Other then that, I really need to read the T&Cs and stuff! If it's limited it's not really that cool.

Yeah that's always the case. You never know it's fully secure, but from what I heard, I find it more trustworthy "looking" than other services. But indeed, you never know.

Yeah, but you're gonna need much time for creating all those accounts. And it's better if other people can enjoy free space too.
EDIT: I thought I read they created some sort of protection, so that people were not going to create fake accounts etc.

Why do you think Google removed SD card slot in Nexus devices?

Why do you think Google removed SD card slot in Nexus devices?
I have seen some articles which quoted several Google's explanations (might be merely a rumor) which were basically "we did it for security", "we have been tired of OEMs who rely on the SD card slot and sell their devices with small internal storage." (this one makes no sense...) "we did it for stabilization and performance issue" "we think integrating all contents in one storage is more intuitive since many users cannot determine which files should go where"
I believe they are just a series of lame excuses. I personally think Google mainly did for profit since they are charging $40 for Nexus 7 and $100 for Nexus 10 for storage upgrade which I estimate to cost less than $15 for the company. (this is my estimation based on the fat that 8GB -> 16GB only costs $8.50)
What is your opinion?
Because they want you to use the cloud. Google Music, Google Drive, Gmail, etc. They don't feel they need more space when you have crazy space out in cyberspace.
YEP. The more accounts they can migrate to the web the more they see... the more they see the more data they can sell to advertisers.
Graze the cash cow, baby.

I think clouding is a stupid idea personally. Not everyone has internet connections everywhere they go. Even though they do, most people do not have enough mobile data to waste on constantly downloading and uploading to the cloud. I have used Google drive several times in my GS3 and it was a horrible experience. The downloading freezed frequently for no reason and I had to download the stuff over again. Also downloading uploading are super slow, slowr than reading stuff off sd cards of course.

Keep Pictures and Files on the Cloud

I've tried searching for a thread concerning my question but couldn't find one. I'm really surprised nobody brought this up. Or my searching skills are really messed up... in which case, I excuse myself.
What I want to do is to make some room in my sdcard by automatically uploading pictures, videos and files (if possible) to my Google Drive (or any other Cloud Storage Service) and delete them locally. Basically, making my cloud drive a truly virtual drive.
Has anyone tried/achieved such a thing?
Thanks.

You're asking for functionality that is very hard to be implemented, even tho it sounds simple.
Basically there are no real viable ways to verify if a given file is not corrupted when uploaded to the cloud. At least not in a way that won't be creating singe huge overhead.
Anyway, if you find something that works, let us know, I'm also interested in such app/script/whatever.

I think I've partially achieved the goal by using DropBox. Unlike Google Drive, files aren't deleted from the cloud when they are deleted locally. But I have to manually delete files from the phone, since I haven't found a way to delete on upload. And, thought, this just works for pictures and videos, not for other files, that would have to be uploaded manually too.
I know that even when sounding simple it's not that easy to accomplish... but I believe Google made the Moto G with such a small storage capacity (to reduce costs too, I understand) to be complete with cloud storage, so...
