Thanks for sharing. Testing tonight. I got the update to 5.1.1 from T-mobile and I did not know that if you try to root after the update, it will soft brick your phone and the user WILL NOT be able to do the factory restore with the power and volume down trick. The phone wont respond. My phone is pretty much dead. If this works, you will be my favorite superhero. Thanks!

I came back to say thank you again, you just saved my phone. Even my settings came back. You are the only person I was able to to find that had the right fix without running me around. I was not able to place the phone in download mode, but still followed your steps. The LG support too stopped at 24% and told me to remove the cable and the battery and place the battery back in. I placed the battery back and pushed the up volume almost at the same time that I inserted the USB cable on the phone. The phone went into download mode which I was not able to do before. Then the software continued to install the stock ROM. At the end, my phone rebooted and all my settings and apps were back how I left them before bricking the phone. Thanks forever.
It's Alive Again!
Thank you so much man. My LG devices have a history of dying due to flashing roms/recoveries but this is the first time a root messed up my phone. You saved me.

can you help me
Thanks! I followed the directions exactly and it worked perfectly
T-mobile had pushed an update to 5.1.1 and I reluctantly accepted. Then I tried to root using "LG One Click Root" application from XDA. It says it went through the rooting process successfully but when the phone restarts, it gets stuck at the LG boot screen. This fixes it!
So just FYI -- DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ROOT T-MOBILE LG LEON 5.1.1! IT WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE.
Will this work for LG G2 VS980? verizon
I always get stuck
I have tried over and over and i always get stuck at 47% on the LG Mobile Support Tool and 49% on the phone. Help me please.

I also used "LG One Click Root" but on a Metro PCS LG Leon LTE and it went through the process and rebooted but got stuck on the logo.
I'm having a situation where the downgrade succeeds, but the phone still stays at LG logo and keeps booting.
If I connect the LG mobile support tool application, it states the phone is on 34510d firmware (eg, it does not downgrade, but remains in boot loop).
What I did was upgrade manually to T-mobile 5.1.1 and then wanted to downgrade to original stock rom.
Opens LG Mobile Support Tool, then "Connection To Server Failed" error. Stops there. No joy on this "fix"
Any suggestions why?
Will this unlock the phone as well ?
LG Leon H345 KDZ Stock Firmware Download brick fix works
LG Leon H345 KDZ Stock Firmware Download brick fix works
This works 100%! Please be aware that this is a more direct link to the KDZ Firmware! It will take you straight to the page that you need to be at without having to worry about your IMEI number at all! It has the KDZ Firmware image for all countrys and make and models of this phone!
lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=171
Also, be aware that there are more download options than what you see up top! I almost downloaded the wrong file for my phone this way! This is because it had the tmobile h345 leon right there uptop so I just clicked on it and started downloading it. However when you scroll down you'll see that there is a USA section that actually has several different versions for the same phone! Most notably the V10d, v10e, and the v10f! When making your selection look at the back of the phone behind the battery under neither the IMEI number and you'll see what version you have. Mine was the v10e, v10d is whats at the top under most downloaded so please make sure that you pay attention and don't make the same mistake that I almost made!
I also made another discovery. If you are unable to run the flash tool then that means that you need to download Visual C++ runtime Libary.
Another thing, when running the flash tool you may notice that it attempts to connect to a server and then has and error and says that it failed. It will happen as its flashing the phone and you see the bar moving percentage wise. However, do not be alarmed and do not close out of the app and try again! If you look at your phone you'll see that the car is still moving and that files are still being updated!
Also, even once it gets to a 100% it will still take a few minutes to complete so dont' worry about that!

Yes, actually I do. In my last post i stated that that does occur every time. However, you don't have to worry, just don't close the program and wait. If you look at your phone you notices that it will continue to update the even though it has that error, Once the phone is done updating and reboots. You'll see it updating the applications on the phone! An you'll be good to go!
So there IS JOY, in the FIX after all! Trust me, I just did it! :good:

Yes it does say that. A screen pops up with an OK button and tell you that the connection to the server failed and asks you if you would like to cancel the update. Just ignore it and wait and watch you phone and you'll see it update.
Also, on doing another phone i've noticed that the Read Phone command when you first press the normal flash button can cause the application to crash for some reason. However, if you just sick that part and press START then you'll be able to proceed as normally and it will work just fine!:good:

**EDIT**: After updating, if you see it is draining your battery quite quickly, and seems slower, simply restart your device and it will sort itself out.
Just successfully updated to the newest Rogers LGP925 firmware version 2.3.5
Head on over to update your phone with LG's Mobile Software updater today!
Don't be scared if your phone stays on the Rogers screen after update for a few minutes, as mine did aswell.
Do you have the kdz file link?
how do you update to your phone to this?
Does it matter that my phone is rooted?
You will lose root after the update and at the moment, you won't be able to get it back until a new exploit is found from what I've read.
You can update by downloading the LG Mobile Update tool from LG's site. It's not the best of programs but it does occasionally work.
here's link: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP925G/ARGSDB/V20c_00/V20C_00.kdz
Can someone help me I did the update on the lg updater thing I've wasted like god only knows how much bandwidth my phone does the update and everything seems ok go to turn on my phone and I'm stuck at the rogers logo and not for just a few mins I had it sitting there for 30mins and the screen will blink for 3 secs and back to the logo. I was on v21a and I did a recovery to downgrade. Guess that didn't work now I'm trying to install it through a kdz method but that's not working I'm stuck at trying to downgrade from 1.5.*.9 to 1.5*.8 well now the program wont install or open I've spent a few hours under other forms looking for solution but none are working (windows 7 64bit)
Edit: Never mind I fixed it.
Did anyone else have success with the update?
Worked for me once i did the fix for the lg update tool in the dev section.
Sent from my LG-P925g using XDA App
For those having trouble...
I had boot loop after updating many times. You have to do a factory reset from emergency recovery to get it to boot. Do the following:
1. Flash with kdz or upgrade officially.
2. When at boot loop / stuck Rogers screen, pull battery to turn off phone
3. Press and hold HOME SOFT KEY then press and hold volume down key, then while still holding those 2 keys, press and hold power button until screen turns on (5-8 secs)
Then let go of all 3 buttons at the same time.
4. Wait and you should see a different LG recovery come up and it will ask you to factory reset.
5. Use volume keys to navigate to yes and do the reset.
Then reboot and the ROM should load.
There you have it. Worked for me everytime.
I did as crazycage suggested and it works perfect. So far I am liking it.

Rooting on Ubuntu (or OSx)
This is all fine and dandy, but it is kinda sad being stuck in this OS. My in-laws have this phone, so I am wondering if I can, easily, bring them to the present. What rom's do you recommend. Also, are there any step by steps any where for rooting their phone. I'd install CWM on their phone to maybe give them a little nicer UI. I'd install CM9 (or anything ICS really) on their phone. What I need first of all is a step by step to root, from there I will hit the ground running, my problem, the only ones I can find are the Windows One click exe thingies, which aren't much good on Ubuntu, any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

opened the .bat file, replaced all of the adb mentions with ./adb and ran the script manually.
all is well
off I go then.
I did this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439 then attempted to put CM10(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840414) on the phone. I downloaded the stable version for Verizon wireless and made sure it was correct etc. I went to TWRP and put install then went to the .zip and continued after doing that the phone resets saying "System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest Verizon Wireless store for help.". I am not entirely sure what I did wrong but it will no longer let me enter twrp but it does let me go to the download screen. Did I brick it or what? Thanks.

How do I use odin to put the bootloader file on my phone since it's not an .md5 file etc.? Sorry, just don't understand.
" I held volume down/home for a few seconds and then held power. The phone booted to a mode I had not seen before (recovery/download as you said?) and I said cancel and the phone booted!"

also you should be able to get into recovery just let go of the volume, power, home as soon as you see the samsung logo pop up

I did the hold the volume button down/home at same time then press power but that sends me to the normal do I want to download press up to continue or down to cancel. I pressed down and it still gave me the warning. I try going to recovery but it prevents me by telling me the same message. I think it's the bootloader like you said but I don't understand how to get the file on the phone through oden. I downloaded that first link but it won't go through oden because it's not the .md5 etc and the computer isn't showing me the phone data through my files.
I am going to odin flash a stock image then re-boot.
I reflashed the phone using odin. I went through and used the "casual" rooting process which appeared to work. I went into twerp then pressed install then pressed the .zip for the CM mod. It re-loaded and now it's stuck on the CyanogenMod screen with a circle. I don't understand if it's installing or what?
I understand now why it wasn't working. Answer in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36341274 Anyways, now that I got CM to work. GAPPS refuses to work, it sends an error message saying that the Setup Wizard has failed. I don't understand that.
Checked to make sure the GAPPS version I downloaded was the one compatibale with the CM version, it was not so I re-downloaded the correct version now everything is working great. Thanks spitfire143 for all the help and getting me on the right track!
Here is the rundown. I have the d 850 LG g3. Was planning on unrooting phone from towel root and rerooting it using towelroot once I found the mod I wanted. I have the latest version of twrp loaded as well. On my way home from work yesterday I was riding my motorcycle and listening to music, all the sudden the music stops so I pull over to see what happened and look to see that my phone has somehow opened twrp. I get home and try to reboot phone and it loads right back into twrp. I did a backup. Restarted phone to same results. I factory reset phone thinking that would work. NOPE. Straight back into twrp so I plug phone into computer to see what's on it. It appears all my games music LG backup etc is still there's why can't I get out of twrp. Could I have accidentally wiped everything while in my pocket? Can I fix this problem or do i now have a $500 paperweight? Please please folks out there in xda land help me out. I've got experience in rooting with my htc m7 so am familiar with this stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Somehow your rom partition/system seems to be corrupted. If you want to try and save your data, Please copy the downloaded version of your current rom and dirty flash (flash without wipe) and try to get back into the system. If you do not have your rom in your internal memory, try adb sideload or try to copy it to your external SD card and install from there.
You can also try to copy your stuff over to the external SD card using the file manager in TWRP and then wipe and install your rom.
If none of these wor, you still can flash factory image by process defined in the this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-g3/general/unroot-return-to-factory-stock-att-lg-g3-t2820827
I believe you can still rescue your phone. Please let us know how it went.
I tried flashing a ROM with gaps and rebooted and it still senT me back into TWRP.
Maybe his phone tried to download and install the OTA? Try this also if the above doesn't work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/fix-stuck-custom-recovery-trying-ota-t2907508

The rom is normally a zip file.
If you already tried to flash a rom (other than your current one) I suggest you try the "back to stock" thing that was referred in my last post. If you have all the drivers in place and do the process correctly (preferably from a Windows 7 laptop), Your phone will be burst back to life in no time.. Good luck..!!

That is exactly what you want. You are now in download mode. So please proceed to next step (i believe the next step is on the laptop).
But the firmware update hasn't even gotten to 1% yet and I don't know how to get back to download mode. I don't know if unplugging device and trying again will mess it up even more. Device manager didn't pop up on computer either

Device manager wont "pop up".. you need to pull it from control pannel. Once you confirmed/changed the port to 41, i believe you can pull the usb, wait for 5 sec and put in back in. Follow exactly as instructed in the thread and you should be fine.

Also firmware update starts after the "usb pull" and re-plug in.

Also firmware update starts after the "usb pull" and re-plug in.

I haven't gotten a chance to pull it up. IT goes to download mode and then right into firmware update. I'm looking on control panel for my phone so I can go into port but its not showing up in control panel

1) The "firmware update" page is the download mode.
2) Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Ports -> Select LG one -> Port Settings -> Advanced -> look for "Com Port Number" on left hand side.

If your device does not show in the Ports section, that means that your drivers are not installed correctly. Did you install the one given in the thread?
---------- Post added at 04:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:32 PM ----------
Try these drivers if you cant find the right one: http://www.koushikdutta.com/post/universal-adb-driver
Yes drivers showed in port. Followed instructions according to LG flashtool and in getting a message saying that lgusb/ parallel lock key is not detected

Did you install the driver i quoted above? If you did in between the process, please pull the battery and try from the beginning if the flash process did not start.

Did you replace the DLL file in the folder as instructed? Did you give the computer's correct admin password? Are you logged in as an admin in the laptop?

Well, ... I just can't wait and flash H955 rom on H959. Everything works except the radios. So I've decided to downgrade back to H959V10D. I used "upgrade recovery" method with LGMobile Support tools. normally it should work. Once the phone is flashed, it would go into a boot-loop and all i just need is to do a hard-reset, right? ... but I'm stuck at the boot-looping. whatever I pressed and hold, it won't reset my phone. the phone just boot-looping.
Is there any other method to get out of the boot-looping and go into hard-reset mode?

did you try this method? can you put your phone in download mode? I don't know if kdz for 959 is out yet but maybe you can downgrade to an older version suitable for your phone

I used that method previously to flash the 955 rom. Luckily, there is not much juice left in the battery an it turned-off after one and half hour. then I charged the phone to about 3% and then go to hard-reset. It is working fine now.
Oh, just one problem. after flashing 955 rom, there is 23.9 GB of system data occupied my 32GB storage and I've got no clue how to remove it. Even flashing back to 959 would not help removing it. Also did Hard-reset and factory reset as well but still can't get rid of that 23.9 GB off my storage.
I also had 8g free with 16gb model i think you should wait for 959 kdz 5.1.1

CSE Flash: Choose this option when you need a fresh format. All data will be gone. It's suitable for upgrading or downgrading ROM or simply use this when you need to back to Stock.
With lg flash tool if you choose cse you can upgrade or downgrade, as far as ls996 i am not sure if you flash it what will happen.
You say you are in bootloop have you tried your device to switch off because of empty battery? It can go to download mode? (Device closed press up arrow and connect it to usb to pc) have you also tried the official lg tool?
You have bootloop because of rooting progress?

I Found A Fix that doesn't require a factory reset after your phone screen gets stuck on the logo, basically go back to step 9, after unplugging your usb once more and while your running the cmd hold the volume up button and plug in your usb. repeat the steps from 9 to the end and once your phone starts up again be patient, it will take about a minute or so and it will say android is upgrading, then you will have superSU on your phone. Glad i can help, let me know if this helped you.

I have done it before. No kdz for my modal yet.
So i bougth an used S8+ (g955u) which seems to be from verizon. the thing is that right on the first boot i put in my simcard(AT&T) and microSD card, the phone booted whit a verizon screen then on the first settings screen a windows pop-up told me to reset it, cant remember why, but i tap on yes, after that the phone reboot again but now with an AT&T screen, i was unable to pass the fist settings due to playstore stopping everytime after the wifi setup, so i took out the sim card and skip the wifi setup and finally get to the home screen. but the problems dont end there cuz some apps were forceclosing when i tried to open it (internet browser, playstore even i was able to log in with my account tho) and some times when i reboot the phone it get stuck bootlooping until i force a shutdown and turn it on again... now here start the part where i need help i tried to flash another software version whit odin, but no matter what uptdated or outdated the phone says: Secure chek fail:system even whit the version it supposedly came, im on bootloader 5 i think and now im stuck on download mode. is there a way to flash a stock or custom firmware or should i let it die?

Hmmm i would start with the latest firmware. If that fails maybe flash the latest combination file then firmware.
As for verizon att. These device normally now are multi csc selects system based on sim inserted which is awesome when it works right. But oreo and up i think checks system integrity so i would start with the combination files bit 5 then firmware

Thanks, I've tried that already. Android 9 version, the B5 combination files. Even flashing every file one by one the problem is with system. Idk why but fails at the last second, I'm thinking in use the repartition option in Odin but I'm afraid it could get worse

Lol i just responded in the other thread. If you dropped it take a bright flash light on the screen and inspect for any cracks under the gorilla glass. Sometimes the oled can crack without the outer glass breaking. If not. Try bixby vol down and power for upto 20 sec
