Here is the rundown. I have the d 850 LG g3. Was planning on unrooting phone from towel root and rerooting it using towelroot once I found the mod I wanted. I have the latest version of twrp loaded as well. On my way home from work yesterday I was riding my motorcycle and listening to music, all the sudden the music stops so I pull over to see what happened and look to see that my phone has somehow opened twrp. I get home and try to reboot phone and it loads right back into twrp. I did a backup. Restarted phone to same results. I factory reset phone thinking that would work. NOPE. Straight back into twrp so I plug phone into computer to see what's on it. It appears all my games music LG backup etc is still there's why can't I get out of twrp. Could I have accidentally wiped everything while in my pocket? Can I fix this problem or do i now have a $500 paperweight? Please please folks out there in xda land help me out. I've got experience in rooting with my htc m7 so am familiar with this stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Somehow your rom partition/system seems to be corrupted. If you want to try and save your data, Please copy the downloaded version of your current rom and dirty flash (flash without wipe) and try to get back into the system. If you do not have your rom in your internal memory, try adb sideload or try to copy it to your external SD card and install from there.
You can also try to copy your stuff over to the external SD card using the file manager in TWRP and then wipe and install your rom.
If none of these wor, you still can flash factory image by process defined in the this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-g3/general/unroot-return-to-factory-stock-att-lg-g3-t2820827
I believe you can still rescue your phone. Please let us know how it went.
I tried flashing a ROM with gaps and rebooted and it still senT me back into TWRP.
Maybe his phone tried to download and install the OTA? Try this also if the above doesn't work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/fix-stuck-custom-recovery-trying-ota-t2907508

Will do. Going home in a bit to try it out. Will keep u posted and thanks to everyone who has given advice. Ill be happy to get it back to stock and then starting over from scratch with a good custom from and kernel. Quick question, I tried flashing the custom illusion rom with gapps. Is that rom a bmp.img?
No.. A Zip file.

The rom is normally a zip file.
If you already tried to flash a rom (other than your current one) I suggest you try the "back to stock" thing that was referred in my last post. If you have all the drivers in place and do the process correctly (preferably from a Windows 7 laptop), Your phone will be burst back to life in no time.. Good luck..!!

That is exactly what you want. You are now in download mode. So please proceed to next step (i believe the next step is on the laptop).
But the firmware update hasn't even gotten to 1% yet and I don't know how to get back to download mode. I don't know if unplugging device and trying again will mess it up even more. Device manager didn't pop up on computer either

Device manager wont "pop up".. you need to pull it from control pannel. Once you confirmed/changed the port to 41, i believe you can pull the usb, wait for 5 sec and put in back in. Follow exactly as instructed in the thread and you should be fine.
---------- Post added at 04:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:16 PM ----------
Also firmware update starts after the "usb pull" and re-plug in.

1) The "firmware update" page is the download mode.
2) Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Ports -> Select LG one -> Port Settings -> Advanced -> look for "Com Port Number" on left hand side.

If your device does not show in the Ports section, that means that your drivers are not installed correctly. Did you install the one given in the thread?

I suggest you use the forum's "search" function and take a couple of days to do some reading and preperation. I'm telling you this because there is way to much information you need to know to just generically post here in this thread for you. You are admitedly a NOOB...and that's fine, everyone kinda is. I am thinking if you don't do a little reasearch you WILL end up with a bricked phone. I am on windows 7, but downloading the newest version of Kies from Samsung (onto your XP Laptop) should give you the drivers you need. But you may have to assign a USB port to the Drivers, may have to change USB ports, may need to use a different PC, might not have the right data cable...etc. The list goes on and on.
So search and read and read and read. Take small steps. Make sure your PC recognizes your phone and that ODIN works before you flash anything major. I'm sure you want to install ICS now and you are impatient, but if you don't take my advice your next post could very possibly be one of the 10,000 "Hey guys, I bricked my phone!" threads that keep being posted from people that didn't learn the lesson in advance.
Good luck.
Thanx for the heads up.
I have been reading and reading lol i read for like 8 hrs last nite and decided id give it a try but after idownloaded the drivers off of the samsung website and it wouldnt load i just stopped lol. Now im going to read somemore and give it another try. Thanx again for the advice

Ok i did it work...
Just followed instructions, dont change the lenguage and let google sync everything... that was what i did different i dont know why happened.
Hope heps to anyone with this issue
Got mkne to work
Thanks to the vid and all the help.
1. Download I727UCALC4_OneClick.exe. Google it. You need a PC.
2. Put your phone in download mode by turning it off. Then hold vol up+down. Insert a usb cable into the phone that was already connected to your computer. Let go when you see instructions. Hit vol up to continue.
3. Run the exe file. Start it. Absolutely don't fiddle with the device or even your computer while it is updating. Wait a while and it will finish and reboot on its own.
4. Enjoy.
I don't mess with the Dalvik, cache, or factory reset. Seems to cause me problems.
Here are the steps to ICS, CWM, Root
1) download the ICS Leak (link all over the place)
2) Do a titanium backup of your apps to your SD card (if you have root)
3) Power off, reseat battery
4) Launch the .exe file w/ the ICS link. A program with a bunch of empty squares will pop up.
5) Push and hold Vol up + Vol down and plug in the USB cable (dont touch the power button)
6) Hit the up Volume to confirm download mode
7) In the ICS program you will see one of the squares turn yellow and say something like 0:com8 and in the text field below says something about complete or connected.
8) Make sure only the restart is checked. All others should be unchecked. Hit start. It will take a good 10-15 minutes.
9) When it completes it should reboot the phone and you will have working ICS.
10) Power off phone. Go back into download mode using above steps, and use odin to flash CWM using the PDA option. CWM link can be found in a dozen places.
11) Reboot and now you have ICS w/ CWM.
12) Download the Superuser CWM Flashable apk and put on SD card.
13) Power off phone. Hold Vol up + Vol down + power and you will go into CWM.
14) Make backup of rom using CWM. Then flash the superuser apk (linked in developement) and then reboot.
15) profit.
Was going to make a guide thread but looks like there is already one. All links are included in his post. seems pretty accurate. Between my outline and his, you should be fine =)

Lots of people are having problems with the Android 4.2 update. They lose root or they can't get back into recovery. So BEFORE you flash 4.2 or if you already did and are having issues. Download this utility I whipped up. It will flash (or reflash) the 4.2 update (Including system, kernel and bootloader). It'll flash the latest 4.2 compatible ClockworkMod Touch Recovery. And then it'll get you all set up to re-root your N7 within the latest CWM. Instructions are included in the README file. PLEASE READ IT!
You DO NOT need to be on a stock rom to run this and it will NOT erase your data. But it is recommended when you get into CWM recovery for obvious reasons.
If anyone is having any issues and you get caught at the Google splash screen. You can use Power, Vol - to hard shut down the tablet, then Power, Vol +, Vol - to get into the bootloader. From here you can install the factory images from google. Once you're back up and running, you can run this tool to gain root and CWM back.
Updated 11/14/2012: Replaced SuperSu.apk with the latest version designed for 4.2
Updated 11/14/2012 14:41EST: This package will now contain 3 different runme files. One of them will not erase your data, one will erase your cache only and the last one will erase your data and cache. It seems people coming from some roms are having bootloops or hangs because of a lack of data wipe. You can attempt to run the one with no data wipe, but if you run into trouble, try one of the others. Some have made it through with only a cache wipe. See what works for you.
Updated 11/14/2012 16:53EST: Removed full data erase option as I forgot it will erase your SD card and therefor erase the root zip before it gets a chance to flash. There is only 1 runme file now and it will erase your cache, but leave your data alone. If you're having problems, or you want to avoid problems. Erase your data in CWM before you flash the supersu zip included in the package.
For Now - Windows ONLY, Sorry.
Linux version, on the way
Anyway:
Download and PLEASE READ the Read Me!

Its booting you in fastboot. just follow the instructions in the window that comes up when you run the runme.bat.
When it boots in fastboot just hit the space bar. It will take a couple times of hitting the spacebar before you reach the CWR stage where you flash the PlaceMeOnYourSDCardSuperSu.zip
When I click runme, it opens up the cmd window, starts the daemon, and then just sits there with a blinking cursor. Tried this few times already, nothing is happening.
EDIT: My nexus 7 is connected and has usb debugging turned on.

Figured it out. My computer recognizes the Nexus 7 as a portable device, but not recognizing it in the usb debugging mode (shows "Nexus" under Other Devices with a yellow triangle). Tried to update the driver, but it failed.
Thanks, it wasn't clear to me for some reason when I was doing it. It just kept saying after the black screen press continue, but something stopped along the way. I cant do it again because my device wont get past the Google startup screen, so I guess Im just going to flash from stock or something. Thank you for the quick help though, much appreciated!

The Nexus 7 toolkit will put the right drivers in place if you need them.
OK, I will try that.
By the way, I am currently on Android 4.1 with unlocked BL and CWM Recovery running Franco Kernel. Is this utility safe to use with this setup?
---------- Post added at 11:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:07 PM ----------
OK So I have finally got the drivers, and then ran the runme. It booted me into fastboot mode and now it says sending 'bootloader' <2096 KB>... and seems to be stuck on it. I havent touched anything on my nexus 7, didn't press any buttons yet.
Unplugged it and then plugged it back in. It failed to flash the bootloader and went straight to boot and system flashing. It has now booted into Android 4.2, but I am assuming it still got the older bootloader. I think I will have to re-run the whole process to ensure new bootloader gets flashed eh? Or is there a 4.2 bootloader floating around that I can just flash using CWM and save myself the trouble?

No I realized it didn't install the fastboot drivers before the process began. So it was actually not able to send the bootloader. Anyways, can you please read my edited post above and advise me with that to do?
EDIT: I went ahead and re-ran the process. Since all drivers were in place, the total process took less than 5 mins, arguably faster than an OTA. Still have all of my data and the goodness of 4.2.
Thanks a lot OP for this great utility.

Everything is good over here. Rooted with twrp instead tho. Anyway something weird is going on with my battery, and yo seem pretty knowledgeable so I thought I'd run it by ya and see if you couldn't shed some light on the issue. Anyway my battery stats are showing that the device isn't awake.. When clearly it is and in the stats it says the screen is even on.. But not awake. Also the screen seems to brighten and dim at odd times idk if that has anything to do with it. But I flashed an ota update.. Bootloader and all. Kept root with supersu. You think something might have been corrupt or something? Here's a screenshot of the issue.. Hmm another issue, whenever I try to take a screenshot.. With more than one app, it takes a pic of an earlier point when I was on twrp getting ready for the 4.2 update. Some really strange things are going on..
I did this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439 then attempted to put CM10(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840414) on the phone. I downloaded the stable version for Verizon wireless and made sure it was correct etc. I went to TWRP and put install then went to the .zip and continued after doing that the phone resets saying "System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest Verizon Wireless store for help.". I am not entirely sure what I did wrong but it will no longer let me enter twrp but it does let me go to the download screen. Did I brick it or what? Thanks.

" I held volume down/home for a few seconds and then held power. The phone booted to a mode I had not seen before (recovery/download as you said?) and I said cancel and the phone booted!"
Boot normal. use tool in first link to unlock the bootloader and CM should be up and running

also you should be able to get into recovery just let go of the volume, power, home as soon as you see the samsung logo pop up

I did the hold the volume button down/home at same time then press power but that sends me to the normal do I want to download press up to continue or down to cancel. I pressed down and it still gave me the warning. I try going to recovery but it prevents me by telling me the same message. I think it's the bootloader like you said but I don't understand how to get the file on the phone through oden. I downloaded that first link but it won't go through oden because it's not the .md5 etc and the computer isn't showing me the phone data through my files.
I am going to odin flash a stock image then re-boot.
I reflashed the phone using odin. I went through and used the "casual" rooting process which appeared to work. I went into twerp then pressed install then pressed the .zip for the CM mod. It re-loaded and now it's stuck on the CyanogenMod screen with a circle. I don't understand if it's installing or what?
I understand now why it wasn't working. Answer in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36341274 Anyways, now that I got CM to work. GAPPS refuses to work, it sends an error message saying that the Setup Wizard has failed. I don't understand that.
Checked to make sure the GAPPS version I downloaded was the one compatibale with the CM version, it was not so I re-downloaded the correct version now everything is working great. Thanks spitfire143 for all the help and getting me on the right track!

Thanks for sharing. Testing tonight. I got the update to 5.1.1 from T-mobile and I did not know that if you try to root after the update, it will soft brick your phone and the user WILL NOT be able to do the factory restore with the power and volume down trick. The phone wont respond. My phone is pretty much dead. If this works, you will be my favorite superhero. Thanks!

I came back to say thank you again, you just saved my phone. Even my settings came back. You are the only person I was able to to find that had the right fix without running me around. I was not able to place the phone in download mode, but still followed your steps. The LG support too stopped at 24% and told me to remove the cable and the battery and place the battery back in. I placed the battery back and pushed the up volume almost at the same time that I inserted the USB cable on the phone. The phone went into download mode which I was not able to do before. Then the software continued to install the stock ROM. At the end, my phone rebooted and all my settings and apps were back how I left them before bricking the phone. Thanks forever.
It's Alive Again!
Thank you so much man. My LG devices have a history of dying due to flashing roms/recoveries but this is the first time a root messed up my phone. You saved me.

can you help me
Thanks! I followed the directions exactly and it worked perfectly
T-mobile had pushed an update to 5.1.1 and I reluctantly accepted. Then I tried to root using "LG One Click Root" application from XDA. It says it went through the rooting process successfully but when the phone restarts, it gets stuck at the LG boot screen. This fixes it!
So just FYI -- DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ROOT T-MOBILE LG LEON 5.1.1! IT WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE.
Will this work for LG G2 VS980? verizon
I always get stuck
I have tried over and over and i always get stuck at 47% on the LG Mobile Support Tool and 49% on the phone. Help me please.

Hi, sorry for the time. I have been super busy these days. Anyway, did you try this procedure yet? (I am just quoting someone else) "The LG support tool stopped at 24% and told me to remove the cable and the battery and place the battery back in. I also used "LG One Click Root" but on a Metro PCS LG Leon LTE and it went through the process and rebooted but got stuck on the logo.
I'm having a situation where the downgrade succeeds, but the phone still stays at LG logo and keeps booting.
If I connect the LG mobile support tool application, it states the phone is on 34510d firmware (eg, it does not downgrade, but remains in boot loop).
What I did was upgrade manually to T-mobile 5.1.1 and then wanted to downgrade to original stock rom.
Opens LG Mobile Support Tool, then "Connection To Server Failed" error. Stops there. No joy on this "fix"
Any suggestions why?
Will this unlock the phone as well ?
LG Leon H345 KDZ Stock Firmware Download brick fix works
LG Leon H345 KDZ Stock Firmware Download brick fix works
This works 100%! Please be aware that this is a more direct link to the KDZ Firmware! It will take you straight to the page that you need to be at without having to worry about your IMEI number at all! It has the KDZ Firmware image for all countrys and make and models of this phone!
lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=171
Also, be aware that there are more download options than what you see up top! I almost downloaded the wrong file for my phone this way! This is because it had the tmobile h345 leon right there uptop so I just clicked on it and started downloading it. However when you scroll down you'll see that there is a USA section that actually has several different versions for the same phone! Most notably the V10d, v10e, and the v10f! When making your selection look at the back of the phone behind the battery under neither the IMEI number and you'll see what version you have. Mine was the v10e, v10d is whats at the top under most downloaded so please make sure that you pay attention and don't make the same mistake that I almost made!
I also made another discovery. If you are unable to run the flash tool then that means that you need to download Visual C++ runtime Libary.
Another thing, when running the flash tool you may notice that it attempts to connect to a server and then has and error and says that it failed. It will happen as its flashing the phone and you see the bar moving percentage wise. However, do not be alarmed and do not close out of the app and try again! If you look at your phone you'll see that the car is still moving and that files are still being updated!
Also, even once it gets to a 100% it will still take a few minutes to complete so dont' worry about that!

Yes, actually I do. In my last post i stated that that does occur every time. However, you don't have to worry, just don't close the program and wait. If you look at your phone you notices that it will continue to update the even though it has that error, Once the phone is done updating and reboots. You'll see it updating the applications on the phone! An you'll be good to go!
So there IS JOY, in the FIX after all! Trust me, I just did it! :good:

Yes it does say that. A screen pops up with an OK button and tell you that the connection to the server failed and asks you if you would like to cancel the update. Just ignore it and wait and watch you phone and you'll see it update.
Also, on doing another phone i've noticed that the Read Phone command when you first press the normal flash button can cause the application to crash for some reason. However, if you just sick that part and press START then you'll be able to proceed as normally and it will work just fine!:good:
i use twrp recovery in my lg leon but the problem is i cant boot back to my phone
hello guys, my problem is my phone can't boot up to my android device, its still booting in twrp, i use the method but it won't go to download mode, please i need help(
i cant entre to download and boot the phone mode when i try to downgrade from 10c to 10b help
Thanks, its work, tks God
Thank you very much for the instruction.
Hi all hope someone can help. My oneplus 1 was playing up a bit just lately so I thought I would give is a wipe and fresh install of a Sultan Rom that I had been using. Backed up using Titanium and Twrp to play it safe. Then like a complete novice (not the next stage up which is where I would put myself) I ticked all the check boxes and wiped. I now have no Operating System on the phone :crying: although I have a version of Twrp sitting on there.
So, off to google I trawled to find numerous posts threads and ways to get back up and running using fastboot, ADB sideloading etc. So after a day and a half of trying these methods and various images to download and flash I am no where near having a working phone.
I need help if one kind soul can help and walk me through the process of getting this phone back up and running.
Thanks for any help that comes this way.... Foz
TWRP is present, just copy paste a rom and gapps into the phone. Go into twrp, flash the rom and gapps and reboot.
Did you try this?
hi thanks for replying.
I've not been able to do as you suggest as the phone is not showing up in explorer where I copy/paste Rom/Gapps. The laptop is "seeing" the phone as there is an audible sound when it gets plugged into the USB socket and when using the fastboot command prompt, it throws a serial number at me. this is why I've tried to go down the ADB/Fastboot options of installing a Rom/IMG with no success
Install the drivers of ur phone on ur pc, download the stock rom cm13.1 from xda, and flash it.
---------- Post added at 11:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:42 PM ----------
Or the other option is, get otg drive. Put rom there and flash.
I'm not having any luck with the first suggestion you gave. Every image that i am trying to flash results in some kind of error. I've even tried to put the most up to date version of Twrp on (3.2.1-0-bacon) but I'm not getting any joy with that. Even though I can "talk" to the phone in Fastboot mode I'm getting no joy. I'm thinking of re installing all the ADB set up again just to make sure
Your second suggestion is not an option for me at the minute as i don't have the kit to try it.
Thanks for you input though.
Try using a OTG cable with a thumb drive

maybe I missed something but you have to connect your phone to the PC when it is in recovery mode (when OPO is turned off press and keep pressed vol down + power button until you see TWRP logo). The pc should see your phone as an external drive, then you can move a ROM and Gapps and flash with TWRP.

You're not missing anything, I don't think. The phone is booted up and the TWRP screen is on. The phone is connected to the laptop and I can hear an audible noise, but there is nothing in the explorer folders that looks like A001 which is what the phone usually looks like when plugged in. If it was I'd like to think it would be straight forward.

afternoon all. right, the postie has turned up with my thumb drive.Could someone advise as to the procedure to get me up and running?
Thanks Foz
ok ... I've now got an OS on the phone...
Thanks to all who have helped.
just as an add on to this thread in case someone has a similar problem.
The phone still wasn't running right and I hadn't installed Gapps so I decided to re flash and start again. Now when I booted into twrp to reflash, it couldn't read the files on the SD card in the thumb drive. I ended up having to re flash a different version of twrp on the phone which miraculously could see the files on the SD card which I installed. The issue I now have is that I don't think there is an area on the phone to store stuff. Whenever I take a pic the camera can't see or access the SD card. When the phone is connected to the laptop, there are no folders within explorer to view so I can't drag n drop files etc to the phone. any ideas/suggestions as to get this sorted?
Thanks in advance... Foz
OK we're sorted. After trying (nearly) every help guide with no luck, I found a similar problem on a YouTube video. In the comments, someone suggested trying to use a Bacon Root Toolkit by WugFresh. after a few minutes setting it up, I've have finally flashed 12.1-YOG4PAS3JL. It has given back my internal SD card. Going to do a back up in a moment and I'm off to flash a more recent ROM
I hope this info helps someone out.
Cheers all
