[Completed] Xda premium crashes constantly - XDA Assist

I'm on cm12.1 g900t s5
Got the app through amazon to support you guys.
I don't want my money back or nothing... I got 15 bucks comped to me in the amazon app store and wanted to use it to spread out my support where I though it should go.
I would like to be able to use the app without it crashing.
I did several searches and found tons of crash reports. So my issue doesn't seem to be isolated. What I didn't find was a fix.
I have tried tinkering with it myself. I inspected what activities and permissions were involved.
I seen the ad related activities. I thought I may have been on to something. I use adaway and thought the ad activities may be causing the crash if blocked. I was wrong it wasn't that . I removed the activities to test... Nada.
Why is there ad related activities in the paid app tho?

[Q] Bought XDA premium app, but crashing

I am running modded vegan 5.1+5.1.1+kernel replacement. I bought xda premium app, but unfortunately whenever I try to view a thread or search, it errors and force closes.
Any hell would be great. This must be an issue with specific version / combination of ROM I am using ?
Thanks!
I've tried the free XDA app, several times the last couple of months and it always FCed. I'm assuming that the paid one us based in the same code. If you search Xda, there are a number of threads, but no fixes.
It always seemed ironic to me ...

P.s. I think some people use Tapatalk, but that's also a paid app.
I was googling, and found an older version (0.9?) that doesn't blow up, but it doesn't seem to have a way to set favorite forums:

Both the free and the premium versions fc for me, but I don't have any problems with tapatalk.

the xda app has always been a pos with the gtab

Plus we have a 10 in screen and the app doest come close to full net view

I do not know if there was a recent update or not but I looked in the market and tried to install the recently unsucessful XDA premium and it installed and is working great!
I found if I don't sign in, it doesn't crash.

Is the tapatalk forum app any good? It sounds like a cool idea but hasn't gotten many good reviews lately.

Xda app is based off tapatalk and I think its pretty good software. If my reg. forums supported tapatalk id prob buy the app

I use it for a few forums (Cyanogen, XDA, RiderForums) and it makes viewing them all easier since they're in one place.
Every once and a while it does hiccup though, it'll just hang on a screen for 5-10 seconds - for example when loading favorites - sometimes with a Force Close popup dialog box, but if you click 'Wait' instead of 'Close' I'd say 9/10 times it loads the page you want without restarting the app.
It's a lot like the XDA App: not perfect but convenient to have.

Mine has never force closed or freezed, has worked like a champ. Use it to visit Overclock.net, and it works very well. Definetly a winner if you visit a lot of forums on your phone.

XDA also supports Forum Runner, a similar app...you may like to try that as an alternative.
i was thinking about getting it but from the latest reviews i seen theres a new one that you will have to pay for also and other people said the update brought new problems
^ I downloaded version 1.4.2 yesterday on my motorola defy and it's working great. No issues whatsoever.

Search using xda app seems very limited

Does anyone else have this problem? I'm hardly getting any useful results from searches on xda using the app. Is this limited to the app or to phone itself... Search without tapatalk?... I cant go back to all that mess... Continuously realigning pages,etc...
I certainly don't have problems on my PC, so its not xda... Any insight?
I'm really SICK of looking like an ass, asking questions I should be able to find answers to.

Issues with xda app

Seem to have constant issues with xda premium app. Paid as support for this awesome site but this app is seriously frustrating. Probably 80% of the time when trying respond to a post it tells me i don't have permission to make the post. Makes the app almost unusable. Been having this issue on my tablet and galaxy s.
Tried uninstalling and installing again. Also tried logging out and then back in. Is this a known issue and is there a fix?

If there's nothing that helps then report it in that dedicated thread.

Exploit in XDA Android app.

Hi.
There seems to be a problem with the XDA app. Just before Christmas I was using the app and I was automatically taken to a web page and it started to download a betting app without my approval. Today I had another issue where it automatically took me tp a webpage and opened up lots of android system pages, there were so many I could not swipe them all away so I had to reset my device.
I am using a Nexus 10 with stock Lillipop unrooted.
I have a hunch its the ads but not 100%. Is anyone else experiencing problems?
Same here, anytime I open XDA, it opens up LYFT or UBER in the Play Store. Guess XDA wants to flood us with advertising. Welcome to the new world of advertisement.
Nexus 6 (lollipop)
Thanks Mike. At least it's not only me. Maybe it's time to root lollipop and install adaway.
