Mi4i or asus zf2 - Xiaomi Mi 4i

Hello friends, i have a nexus 4 from past 2 years and this phone is rock solid till date but just bored of this so wanna buy a new phone under 15k only, i have been looking these two devices from many days, mi4i has a brilliant display which is attracting me towards it and zf2 has a solid hardware plus mmc slot(however mmc slot is not my priority), yesterday it was the third time that mi4i was successfully added to my cart on flipkart but due to some bad reviews about mi4i that is poor performance and heating problem, i did not buy it, if its a software part then i am quite indulged in flashing stuff and i will not have any problem in flashing new roms, but if its hardware prob than i won't buy such device.
I just want the help of existing users that does this device really heats a lot even after new software update, and is there any performance issues on this phone, as many people saying thay are having lags while playing games or videos.
A brief suggestion would be appreciable

I was looking at both phones when i was looking for a spare phone. I didn't get the zf2 because i didnt like the power button placement on the top. The mi 4i also feels much nicer in the hand and so far it has been a good little phone for me. Just the 16gb is a little limited

How about the heating issue and lags in games
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app

So far i haven't ran into any heating issues, but the phone does get a little warn during games. I've play world of tanks blitz and vain glory and both run very well. 30 - 50 fps in world of tanks.

Display- best feature
Speaker- are low
Miui- my opinion it sucks
Battery- best
Build- premium feel

The area around the camera only gets warm and it's really not bad. Battery life is great, miui is ok, performance is quite good, screen quality is awesome. So far i am happy with it. Currently using it at my daily driver since i just got back my note 4 from service center.

Getting a sensation

So I use an iPhone 4 right now. It is 12 months old now and I have a tendency of not using same phone for more then a year. I have always used iOS .I Consider it much more advanced then any other os once its jailbroken . I am thinking of getting new phone without adding much money as I am gonna use it for 6 months till the new iPhone is released. Saw on eBay and few other sites that sensation prices have been really low about 23-24k . Is the phone good? I have read about the wifi problem and some signal probs which don't get resolved by using a case and my only connection with android is my mum uses a galaxy sl and I have preferred to stay away from that phone coz its no where near my iPhone in terms of fluidity and gaming. How better is sensation ? Is it a phone an avid iPhone user enjoy? I m no apple fanboy nor I hate android . I have a very heavy usage so need the best. I don't wanna buy iPhone 4s coz of no bootrom exploit and I can't live without some jailbreak tweaks nor do I wanna spend 40k for a phone I am not gonna use for more then 6 months. Also is it a good gaming device?
It is a good phone overall. I'd say the iPhone is still probably a bit more fluid and has better games overall but the Sensation is almost as smooth IMO and there are plenty of good games for it.
It is pretty good as a gaming device, I play FIFA 12, MC3, GTA and Real Racing 2 on it plus a few other casual games.
Although, if you're looking to only keep it six months I'd wait for a month or so and wait till ex Sensation owners begin buying the One X or maybe the One S which might push the price of the Sensation down a bit.
I liked the one s too but I don't think it's worth for just 6 months. Also what about the deathgrip and some other similar probs?
I've had an iPhone 4 for a year as well and have made the choice to switch to the Sensation 2 months ago. As far as stability,
it's not the best. The stock rom is glitchy, and so are the several custom roms in the dev. section. Putting aside the random
reboots, bugs, glitches, high likelihood to get dust under the screen; the battery is terrible compared to the iPhone 4.
Moderate use on a full charge will last you barely 10 hours. As for gaming, besides the classic arcades (Angrybirds, Fruit
Ninja, Doodle jump), there's a nice selection but nowhere compared to iOS' app store.

No, it's not for 6 months but it's availability might signal lower prices for older phones.
I find the WiFi signal is fine, wherever I am in my house I can get decent signal and when I hold the device near the antennas it doesn't seem to affect it. Only when I go into the room furthest from the router does it get low.
The phone signal isn't the best but it's adequate enough, very occasionally I pull it out my pocket and it says 'No signal' but it finds it again quite quickly.
I find that the pro's far outweigh the con's. I no longer carry phone, gps, camera, ipod touch. The Sensation is all of these things and more. I really enjoy mine, and have had no problems.
It depends wether your staying stock...
But once you get a custom rom you will be in business yes the signal issue isn't good but it isn't that bad otherwise great camera battery life is not bad neither
I wished the screen colors would be more sharp like on the sgs2 but does the job well !

I might ditch the idea of sensation and get the one s or one x and use android for sometime. The reviews of both phones are awesome except the pentile display on one S and the one x being too big .. Let's see .. Really thankful for the help guys appreciate it.

[Q] Does the Nexus 5 get hot?

Just what the title says. Does the Nexus 5 get hot like the GS3 or Nexus 4 did? I am curious as I have one ordered and would rather know now instead of worrying later on when I get it.

Yeah, my GS3 gets face burning hot just when browsing, so I am curious to see if it will be the same for the Nexus 5 when I get it. I don't usually play games on my phone as I have low vision, I plan on getting the Nexus 10 2013, or whatever they might call it when it comes out.
Mines haven't been hot but I am using a custom kernel and not using the regular kernel thermal
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
It gets warm. But certainly not burning hot like my S4.
Are there any current-model smartphones that don't have noticeable temperature increase when under heavy load?
My N4 got hotter, this gets pretty warm, but not uncomfortable .

Do high performance smartphones under strain and staying cool even exist?
Mine hasn't gotten hot at all, and definitively not as hot as my S4 got sometimes.

I expect heat under heavy load, but just browsing the web or watching a video?
It does get a little warm, but the nexus 4 had a glass back thus the heat. I mean I did tests and more tests . Played two hours of dead trigger 2 and it held up awesome. I mean it did get warm, but what do you expect ... Its running a snap dragon 800 @ 2.3 and a adreno 330. So far for me its preforming amazing.

If you watch many pornz, yes.
Coming from the Nexus 4, the Nexus 5, in my experience, definitely runs hotter on LTE.

Hey !
I currently own an HTC One mini. Im going to buy a new phone, but I cant decide between the bigger "One" and the Nexus 5..
My dad owns the bigger HTC, so I know everything about it.
So I have some questions about the N5.
Whats up with the battery..?
Everyone seems to be unhappy with the batterylifetime..
Are those speakers good ?
I know Boomsound is better, but what about the N5 ? Havent had a chance to try them out..
Any other issues that appeared often ?
It seems like a nice phone to me, and its speed is incresible..!
Would you recommend it ?

You're in a nexus 5 forum almost everyone is going to recommend the Nexus 5.
As for the battery life you can get upto 5hrs Screen time, Speakers are clear but not that loud.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Hi,
I have the Nexus 5 for 3 months now.
Battery - I have a great battery life, but some people reporting the opposite.
Speakers - aren't impressive at all. the One has better *quality* speakers in my opinion (not louder, but sounds better).
other issues - none actually.
I can easily recommend this device!
FYI, the HTC One speakers are pretty ordinary. They do not use the Beats/whatever technology - that's only for headphone use. I compared the speaker quality of HTC One with my Nexus 5, and it's on par.
Can't say about battery - just got the Nexus. However, in my brief time I got 2hrs+ of on screen time on 6hrs of uptime. Battery went from 65% to 20%. I did a lot of downloading of apps, brief camera use, lots of Reddit + FB + Chatting, simply turning it on because its new, etc
Speed is awesome. Not one bit of lag. Apps zoom in and out without so much of a stop. Sure it hangs here and there once in a while and the scrolling is juttery as ever, but much better than ...well, ****ing ever.
Another thing to consider for the Nexus is the pure Google experience. HTC Sense is pretty good and its quite snappy, but I still prefer the Google UI because it's a lot more user friendly, is colorful and the animations are beautiful. It's by far the best UI for Android and that's not surprising as it is built by Google themselves.

I was in between a couple different devices when looking to buy a new one... Nexus 5, LG G2, Note 3 and HTC one max. All are great devices and all have there own drawbacks. Ultimately I went with the Nexus 5 because of the quality of the N5, price, Google pushes updates and your not waiting on carrier's to release updates if they do at all. Has features like USB otg, wireless charging, NFC and so forth. The screen size is perfect for me, not to big or not to small and looks amazing.
Battery life is good... The biggest thing that kills the battery is the screen... Its awesome but the brightness set on auto or on high does kill the battery. Once I lowered the screen brightness the SOT definitely when up and uses less battery and the screen still looks great on a lower setting.
I think the speakers sound good. They are pretty loud and not much if any distortion when set at max and listening to music. You can always add sound mods like V4A as well to adjust the sound settings to you preference.
The N5 is really fast, plus its really easy to unlock the bootloader, root it and flash Mods and custom Roms. There's tons of development for it too.
Overall It's a great phone and I'm very Happy with it... I'd recommend looking through the N5 threads and researching it more and really find what it is that your looking for and what you want in a phone.
I have had my N5 for a week now, and I rooted it the first day. My battery life has been fantastic. I don't use it heavily but I do have WiFi on 24/7, and location on since a few of the aps I use need it. I have Google now turned off. I charge it over the night, and at the end if the day I have a little less that half left. The speakers are OK not great but they do the job. I have had no issues what so ever this is a great phone I would seriously recommend it to any one.

It's fantastic device for it's great price!! I would recommend it without a doubt! Long-time manufacturer support, fastest updates, big and long devs support, almost blotware-free UI (except some Google apps, like Google Games, but you can disable them in settings or if you have root you can freeze or hibernate them using Greenify/Titanium Backup). So this phone will give you a true and the smoothest Android experience you can ever have.

LG G Flex 2 lags like crazy

I came from a G2, this phone is tons slower. Unlock after pattern takes a whole second. It's terrible.
Try removing unwanted widgets on your home screen, I tried to make mine very minimalist and it's working fine. Battery life is terrible though
No widgets. There is something very wrong here. Battery life is ultra terrible, you're right. If they don't update the firmware then it'll be a disaster and LG will lose whatever goodwill they built the last few years with the g2 and G3
Sent from my LG-H959 using XDA Free mobile app
This phone seemed rushed and not polished hope a 5.1 update fix this issue with the phone. For a 1080p screen battery drains to much considering the battery size.
I had the same problem with the g3. Laggy and very poor battery life be lucky to have 20% left after 5hrs
this will help with lag
If you do an immediate factory reset after the initial startup when getting it it helps immensely with the lagging issues mine is crazy fast now
The Verge tech site did a review and they observed same lags:
http://www.theverge.com/2015/3/13/8206953/lg-g-flex-2-review
From the review:
"Did I mention that the scrolling is laggy? That chronic lag also spoils the other jewels in Android’s crown"

Yes, there is a lag here and there but I don't have any complaints about battery life. It's not as good as G3 but a whole league better than my previous Galaxy S5.

I seriously doubt that, like how I doubt that you only get little lag.
No need to lie, man. We all hate it when we dump $700 on a "premium" phone that feels and responds like something out of Fischer Price. I've been there too.

YMMV but I don't have any need to lie. My S5 would go from 100 to 20% in 8 hours with screen off.
G3 under the same conditions, same config/apps 2 days easy.
Flex 2 100 to 50% in 24 hrs.
Edit: Last time I took my wife to a dinner and used my S5 for navigation there. When we left, the phone was 100% charged. When we got back home after approx 3 hrs, the battery was at 15%. That's when I decided I need to try something different (again)
The lag I would compare to my old Note 2 (I still use) which I agree, is unacceptable considering Flex 2 has much better hardware.
I also had a few FCs on contacts which seems to be a common bug of L. (had the same thing with S5 after I upgraded to lollipop)
Lets hope it'll get ironed out with next update.
Oh and it looks like the signal strength is considerably better compared to any of my Galaxies BUT the handoff is slower.
This is the lag you'd get, after running geekbench 3 times in a row.

Well I don't know why but these are my results:
Three times in row. The first two were much better (about 2x better) but the third one... not that stellar. Maybe the much discussed heat throttling? But the phone didn't feel especially hot.
I still cannot complain about the battery.
Both our results are very very bad for an 810 chip

Out of curiosity, why did you buy the device and why haven't you returned it yet?
Your lagging issues and battery problems are very common with the Flex 2 because of the power-hungry 810 processor.

Performance is unbelievably terrible
I could potentially overlook some of the missing Lollipop features and broken system tools (that’s a lie, I probably couldn’t), but the level of jank and lag in this phone is something you just can’t avoid. I don’t know if LG had to throttle the hell out of the Snapdragon 810 to keep it from melting all of this plastic and so it just can’t keep up, or if Lollipop’s memory leak is to blame, but what I do know is that this phone is the worst performing phone I have used in probably four years. It stutters while swiping between screens. It also needs to be rebooted multiple times per day to function properly. It gets so bad some times that it can’t even load websites properly in Chrome without completely freezing up. I can’t even tell you the number of times that I got so frustrated that I went from hammering on back, home, and app switcher buttons to try to kill current tasks, to being moments away from throwing the phone against a wall. It simply cannot be understated how terrible this phone is to try to complete anything on.

I bought the flex2 because I didn't believe that it was as terrible as the press claimed, and had to see for myself. What I saw is worse than the press said.
In my country we can't just return things, it has to be defective to return things. Singapore.
Based on some accounts we read here, saying that it's just a batch problem, I can then build a case for return.
I also like to buy bleeding edge devices and see what can be done to redress their problems.

I think the press was too lenient with this device. It seems like all of them were trying to downplay the lagging issue to get on Qualcomm and LG's good side.
Anyway, I hope everything works out for you, and if you plan on buying another high-end phone this year, I suggest you stick with Samsung.
It seems all the bad rumors about the 810 are true, so it's logical to assume that any phone from LG, htc, SONY, and other OEMs not named Samsung will have the same problems as the G FLex 2.

Hi Apple, I dislike Touchwiz intensely. My family has myriad Samsung devices, they suck. The G2 and G3 were masterpieces. I hope that LG can fix this. I'll try switching the device tomorrow but I hope that I will get some information on WHAT serial number works and what doesn't.
My serial number for sucky Flex 2 is 502KPCA003579 LG-H959

My experience with Mi4i

I got my Mi4i a week back and since then I am in love with this beast. This the best value for money phone at present. And if any one planning to buy this phone do not even think twice to buy it. Just go and grab it on the next thursday flash sale and I bet this will be the best decision of your in spending money on a mobile.
What I don't like is :
MIUI 6 based on lollipop is quite good and looks like poor man's iPhone but takes up much resources. The UI and built-in apps are too good. But it lacks lollipop experience. So a stock Android Lollipop based ROM is much anticipated.
I am going to switch to CM or any AOSP ROM as soon as it is available for Mi4i.
Thank you for your input bro. I have also been thinking of buying a good handset within the 15000 INR mark. And the Mi 4i seems as a viable option.
So I have one question for you. How much is the internal memory in this? I mean how much memory space is given for apps and how much is provided as the sd card? What is the total usable space? Because previously I had been using a phone that had a 32gb ROM and 16gb seems a little low.
Thanks again.
Mi 4i review
Hi, I am using mi4i from 1 week
What I loves:
1. Its superb screen
2. UI experiene
3. Build quality
4. Screen to body ratio
5. Time lapse and slow motion option in Video mode
What I dont like:
1. Screen flicker in camera mode some times not always. I dont know why
2. Anti grease coating is not properly done on screen. Like some part of screen is super clear because of Anti grease coating but some part of screen having finger marks because of antigrease coating missed at that place
3. Camera Quality- I used sony xperia neo and samsung s2. If I compare picture quality of mi 4i with them, so did feel any major difference
Click Thanks:good: if you find it useful.

My exp.
Front camera- ultimate
Battery - superb
Display - verry good bt not better then amoled
Performance- good
Speakers and mic- very good
Now the bad things
Back camera- ist good but as impressive as sony or Samsung 13 mp cameras are
Camera application - its worst
3g speed - very low as compare to other, i think its hv modem below 7.2mbps
Speaker- volume is lower then redmi 1s
Miui 6 - still very buggy rom for this phone (now waiting for custom roms)
Smart dual sim- missing (means u can't get phone call on both sims at the same time)
In network settings - only 3g mode is missing
Internal memory - when u update all preinstalled apps u will get very few amount of free storage around 9gb
Low antutu benchmark score- even below mi2 and redmi note
Now i m thinking to go for another phone
Thank you
can anyone tell me how hot can this soc get?!
not only in games but just using the usual social media apps...
everything about the phone is awesome, only thing is my back and home buttons leds are weird

I was about to buy this phone. As I was researching a bit about it, I found that people are facing issues with push notifications with common apps like whatsapp, facebook, gmail etc.
I read that people are getting these messages delayed, and solutions for this are not working for everyone. For some people locking the application works, for some it does not.
Have you faced any of these issues?

I had some issues with apps getting killed after some time (in the background).
I solved this in More-> Battery -> Energymanagement -> settings to change the Kill backgroud Apps to Never (make new profile for this and activate that).
Maybe that helps..
Mi4i as a piece of hardware and for the price is very good value for money. The MIUI, as it is wright now, its to bad to be true, but it is really, really, bad.
I had to return to my old samsung dual sim because this one is not fit for work. Lost notifications, drop calls, heats a lot, battery....
Waiting for a trusted rom to try and take advantage of the money I spend.
