hi,
recently i had to reinstal my rom and only restored my data partition.
But now i have the problem that i cant use fingerprints. Seemingly something in the data partition tells him that there should be fingerprints but since he cant find them he gives an error.
I hope somebody can help.

The only way that I know to clear them if they are not on the list in the finger print area...
Settings -> Lock Screen and Security -> Other Security Settings -> Clear Credentials
I can't understand what you are trying to say...

If there's an error with the Fingerprint Sensor, then clearing the fingerprints won't help. You did something you probably shouldnt have and screwed up the Senor itself.

Hi all,
Title says it all: I can't seem to disable the device encryption on my Transformer. In the Encryption menu the Encrypt tablet option is greyed out and just says Encrypted beneath it.
How do I disable this?
Thanks,
Casey
Do you have a exchange account set up? Some accounts force encryption.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
I do, but the odd thing is that I manually chose to encrypt through the encryption menu - it wasnt a forced policy.
cant be undone. When setting up encryption (manual or through policy) the device says explicied that only way to undo is to hardware reset to default.
You ignored that so its staying encrypted or reset.
I have also encrypted my eeepad and dont notice any performance issues. I like it encrypted because i also use it for work/studie

Well, dunno about ignored... more like didn't notice...or maybe didn't read the instructions properly....lol.
As for performance issues, the boot takes longer and we have to enter the passcode twice, which is a bit of an annoyance.
Thanks.

You should be able to do a factory reset from TWRP directly.

I had this problem awhile back. Neither TWRP nor CWM could do a factory wipe while encrypted. If you run into that search for the superwipe script, it worked quite well to get me back on track.Should find the script here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1245892
Hello, I'm getting a message "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped" when I miss a phone call and the same when I swipe the missed called notification.
But it's fine if I answer calls and make calls, it only happens when I get a missed call...
Any ideas what's wrong?

Dont know what is wrong but there is three solution to solve this
#1:- By clearing the data
Surfing internet we could find that many people recommend to do a data clear to resolve this issue. In your android smartphone, it is very easy to clear data. For clearing data,
Go to Settings
Application Manager
Choose All Application
Below Contacts Storage choose “Clear all data”.
Now Restart your device
The above steps have slight changes from mobile to mobile. Try to find out the similar steps in your mobile yourself.
#2:- Resetting your device
You can also try a factory reset of your mobile phone to resolve this. Do factory reset only if the first method didn’t worked for you. For performing a factory reset,
Go to Settings
Backup & reset
factory Reset
Doing a factory reset will delete all of your data and applications. So be careful to do a backup if you are proceeding with this step.
#3: Changing the OS
This is recommended to those are facing Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped message after updating their device or changing the static os to a custom version.

Thanks...went through all those options already + more , nothing could fix it, even the few recovery backups that I had...so a reset was the only solution...
So I decided to start from scratch and go down the long way, flashed .93 rom then root and working my way back up from there manually as I can't restore any backups otherwise the error reappears...
This kinda sucks but that's the only way right now...unless somebody got a better insight of the situation, I still would like to know how to fix it without a reset
At least I got a clean backup now without the error
[SOLVED]
EDIT:
OK found the cause of the problem, at least in this case...I did freeze Xperia Home with Titanium Backup at some point since I used a different launcher ( something I didn't do at the beginning when I switched launcher)...this was the root of my problem getting com.android.phone has stopped when getting a missed call, so a simple defrosting of the app worked

Thank you, it's working.. Having my rom heavily modified, and the cause just simple as defrosting..
Hi guys, I'm having a problem and a friend directed me to this website, hope I'm not breaking the rules or anything by posting here.
I formatted my phone today cos I felt it got too laggy lately, everything went alright, phone is working, it got decrypted, I synced samsung/google and backed up all of my data and apps., so far so good. Then I went to actually put a security pattern but I got surprised it only let me chose "password" the rest of the choices are grayed... I read online some people said I need to go to Security>Clear Credentials, but that also can't work since it's also gray. I tried to uncheck the Device administrators (Android Device Manager) but that didn't help either. I rebooted, and still no solution. I could probably try "Install from device storage" but then I don't know what to chose? I really have no idea how android works, it would be a great if anyone can help!
Update: I also went on Developper Mode but still nothing changed.
Update: I tried putting a password on and now I have to use a password everytime I unlock it fml... can't turn it off

Basically this problem is solved by clearing credentials and disabling device administrators...But as u said its not works for you...
So, first do a factory reset... Then check.. If not works check if clear credentials option is highlighted... If yes..clear it...and see it cleared..Or not...or what it says if failed....
Disable every device administrators...
And report what happens
I did a factory reset and backed everything still the same problem.. I think I'll try again without restoring anything hmm could the SD card be the problem here? should I format it as well?

What have you restore after format.. I mean which type data?
Edit: there's must not issue with sd card.. And if u think there is.. Just remove sdcard not format it..
Apps, wifi passwords, wallpaper, but even when I didn't restore it's the same problem, oh yea I already formatted it without an SD (first time) and that was when I discovered the problem

Hi there,
I have recently had to root my S6 (running stock Android 6.0.1) in order to delete the password files under /data/system (all the .key files and the locksettings.db) as I had forgotten my password and fingerprint unlock was not enabled. After doing this successfully, I was able to unlock my phone and when trying to remove/add finger prints in the settings app, I get the error message saying:
An error has occurred with the fingerprint sensor. If this message appears repeatedly, restart your device.

Even after restarting my device, I am still unable to remove fingerprints or sometimes even access the fingerprint management menu in the settings. I cannot see how this could have happened and would really appreciate any help in fixing this issue.
Thanks

Only thing I can advise now is to backup and do a full factory reset, if you still have issues try a new rom or firmware

Hi,
After updating to 7.0 nougat by official Europe update,
My fingerprint sensor stopped responding, when I'm trying to add new fingerprint it wouldn't let me even try, It shows a message (Attention: make sure that the home key is clean and dry, then try again) and then it goes back to the main lock screen settings menu.
I'm really desperate, already tried everything, plz help!

Have you tried to factory reset or just flash android 7.0 with Odin. I would recommend wiping after installing an update like 7.0 anyway updating always causes bugs and issues for me.

I also just updated my SM-G935FD via OTA to Android version 7.0.
Since then, fingerprint scanner is not working. Like for OP, all tests fail under HwModuleTest.
I tried to remove all fingerprints, but it is impossible to add new fingerprints - the error message is "Make sure that the Home key is clean and dry, then try again." Obviously, the fingerprint sensor is as dry and clean as it was before the update (when it worked perfectly).
Since then I tried, unsuccessfully:
- removing old fingerprints and adding new fingerprints (does not work, cf. above)
- formatting cache partition
- performing a hardware reset
- flashed the stock firmware G935FXXU1DQB3 with Odin
Please advice, thanks.

If you have tried to flash stock firmware in Odin, I'm really not sure what the issue is, if it was just a glitch in the software it should probably have been fixed by a wipe and flash with Odin. If your phone is still under warranty I would bring it back into the Samsung shop or contact them over the internet to inquire about fixing it.
The same exact problem has happened to me too . I'm tired of unlocking with patterns
What should we do ?
This cannot be a hardware issue cuz phone was fine right before the update

Do you still have the issue ?
I have the same problem ???
What the way to fix this issue
I had that problem sometimes and in the end the main reason was really sweat on my fingers and dirt on the home button.
I know this doesn't sound like a solution, but it surprised me as well. Just try drying your fingers and clean the surface of the home button.
Hi There! I encountered the same issue earlier but then suddenly my fingerprint sensor works normally. The last thing I that I made changes to my phone was to reset the password of my samsung account. Not if there was a security breach that happened but after resetting the password, works fine for me. I suggest that you back up your phone's data before and after resetting your Samsung account.
I have this problem for 1 year, tried to change the password but didnt work.
IS someone still struggling with this problem ? Yesterday i upgraded to DevBase 6.0 Oreo newest build. But after the flashing process the fingerprint sensor act in a unusual manner. Sometimes i could unlock the phone sometimes it directly jumps to the pattern unlock screen. Any news about the problem ? I wiped cache/dalvik and i resetted my password of the samsung account - nothing helps.
Any help, ideas, links are highly appreciated
Cheers
Rhonin
