Hi I receive my idol3 today and I popped in my metropcs sim that I've been using for my S3. The phone recognizes the sim because it prompted me to choose an apn, but the phone remains in emergency calls only. I turned off, factory reset but the issue still occurs. Any help would be appreciated.
You may have to revise your APN settings for Metro PCS. Have you done a web search for the appropriate Metro PCS APN settings?

Yeah and it comes to the same as one of the options in the apn screen
it's weird it recognizes my number but for
Network: Unknown
Service State: Out of service/ Data: Out of service
Signal Strength: 0
wifi works and it reads my sd card.
Metro
Whenever you switch devices on Metro pcs you have to call customer service and have them swap the devices in their system. It's how most CDMA carriers do it and Metro used to be just CDMA before Tmobile. So your device isn't activated on the account the sim card is on. It's really weird for GSM based carriers and I do hope Metro will change their system.

I have a Verizon TP2 and have unlocked the SIM. I'm heading for Ireland next week and have purchased a prepaid GSM SIM for use in Ireland. Do I need to reset any of the Phone Settings on my TP2 or will it automatically make the changes when I insert the SIM and turn it on in Ireland. Thanks.

i am using sprint TP2, easy switch to GSM network, just go to setting/connection management/phone setting/network
choose GSM ONLY, then system will search GSM network automatically
remember insert GSM SIM card in the phone first
You will have to get data connection setting for the prepaid provider if you want to use your data connection

That is what happend to me with my VZW TP2 in Greece.
Switching to GSM only worked for the phone but I need settings for SMS and Data.
Got the settings but VZW put some kind of lock on the connections settings app. My settings would always revert back to the vzw settings and I would always get connection failur pop up.
Got back home and found online some details about "CMGaurdian"
This program either locks the conection manager or imediately reverts changes back to stock. I think you may need to disable this in registry to enable data and out going sms reliably.
I unlocked my Sprint Touch Pro 2 and I am using an AT&T SIM card here in the United States successfully.
The first few times I used GSM mode, a menu would pop up and ask me which network settings I wanted to use (AT&T or T-Mobile).
Now, that menu is no longer popping up. So, I am unable to select the settings for AT&T. Data is now not working on GSM (the phone tries to dial #777 as if it is connected to Sprint).
How can I get that dialog box to pop back up and prompt me to pick the carrier settings? I'm assuming that is what will fix it.
Thanks for the help.
well, I got it working by manually defining the following parameters in a new gprs network connection:
Access Point Name wap.cingular
Username [email protected]
Password CINGULAR1
it works, but then when I go back to CDMA on Sprint, it tries to use this connection.
Is there an autoconfig program that I don't know about? It popped up on my screen when I first started switching between CDMA and GSM, but it hasn't come up again.....
How do I enable "auto-switching?" More importantly, why won't it just get this info from the AT&T SIM card? Why do I have to enter it for it to work now, when I didn't have to a few days ago?
Do you mind share the information how you unlocked your sprint pro2 (CDMA I assume)? I have same phone and want to use it in GSM oversea. Sprint customer Service told me it is not a global phone. can't unlock.
thanks in advance!
My MyTouch is actually a HTC Panache from Moblicity, which is apparently the same phone with a different name. I usually use it with WIND Mobile, and when I go to the US, I use my T-Mobile SIM. On my old Hawauai U8100, this was not a problem, and all APNs changed automaticly, and i had no problem using data in the US or Canada. On this phone, however, APN setting are cleared every time i remove the SIM. I already have the settings for WIND and T-Mobile, so I can re-enter them every time, however i noticed that T-Mobile uses the AT&T network in places that there is no T-Mobile coverage (such as upstate NY), so when I am there I only have voice & SMS, but no data, as I do not have AT&T APN setting.
So first of all, I would like to know how my old phone got APNs automaticly, and if that would be possible on the MyTouch, and if not, what are the APN settings for the AT&T network that is shared with T-Mobile?
Trying to switch from CDMA to GSM, sprint to tmobile and tried 2 ways that haven't worked. 1st way involved selecting preferred network to global ,swapping out SIM cards ,selecting APN . The 2nd way was dialing *#*#72786#*#*, swapping SIM cards, while phone is restarting select APN, restart.
Our phone came with a free 1 yr service from FreedomPop. I'm suppose to be able to cancel service at any time.
I also took the phone to a wireless repair store and they told me the phone can't be switched to GSM. I've read that it can. HELP!!!
The main problem is that the phone can't send texts or call out. It can receive calls and texts.
My Mothers Note3 was purchased from her service provider in SA ( Telkom ) it is an unbranded prone and was not locked to her provider network.
She took the phone over to the US and used an AT&T sim there without a problem for a two weeks.
Upon her return she put her own sim back into the phone and it would not log onto her provider network.
Thinking it was the sim card I swapped it with mine from another service provider and it worked no problem.
placing her Sim into my phone also worked without a problem.
She had her sim card changed anyway and since then that phone will not connect to any other network than Vodacom. The phone was not bought from them and there is no reason why it would be locked to their network, but everything seems to be pointing to that.
Her service provider said they would have to replace the motherboard to fix it.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what could be causing this and if there is a fix for it?
Try changing the APN settings (Settings->More Networks->Mobile Networks->Access Point Names) and change the settings to the proper APN settings for Telcom (not sure what they are since I'm from the US, but just google it and they should be easy to find) and also check to make sure that your phone is searching for the right type of network (Settings->More Networks->Mobile Networks->Network Mode and select LTE/WCDMA/GSM) and see if it connects then.
