Only one of the "speakers" on the bottom of the Nexus 5 is actually a speaker and the other is a microphone. If the device is held correctly then it shouldn't be a problem no matter which hand it is held in..

I know but i found this problem last night no idea what should i do or try btw phone is fully stock rom

Well, there is absolutely no reason why "call quality" would go bad when held with a specific hand. The only reason it would ever happen is if something were to obstruct (or similar) the microphone.

Everything perfect cleaned so gues its hardware problem with microphone

The metal plate on the right side of her head interferes with the signal.
She should use her left hand. Problem solved.

Haptic feedback a little noisy

Hi guys. Just received my Nexus 5 today and it has been working perfectly. Only thing I noticed is that the haptic feedback motor is a little loud. My other phone is a Nexus 4 and it's definitely louder than it.
Anybody else noticed this or maybe it's my device.
Thanks.

Did you receive a replacement? I have exactly the same problem but some say it's quite normal.
Stick with it, mine quietened down after a week or so, just like the N4 now... Maybe just needs bedding in?

To be honest, that seems normal to me. The defect with the vibration motor is only if it makes a clicking /chirping sound when typing. That signifies that the vibration motor had been fitted incorrectly.
Your video just seems like it's fine.

It's not normal, maybe you can't hear because of the audio quality of the video.
I tryed my friend's nexus and it's ok, I'm gonna rma another time cause the new device is defected too, this time has also got a display problem.

Ummm.. The front facing camera?

Is it supposed to or us it just mine but does it flip the picture left-right? What you see on the screen compared to what the saved picture is is opposite sides

That's normal in android. It's so it is like a mirror instead of what teh camera sees so it's easier to adjust an ugly face like you would in the mirror.
Lol. I thought it may have just screwed up as I've never actually tried it before

Is it wrong to run your Nexus 5 vanilla? No,
More people do that now than ever, which is why there is a decrease in overall activity in the Android modding community.
There isn't that much left to improve and add other than aesthetics to most phones; at least not ones that run AOSP.
My Nexus 5 is stock, rooted, running on ART with Dalvik + Bionic flash and busybox.
All I really need.
Honestly sans low volume the phone can run pretty good stock.

Nothing wrong with that. I'm running stock. No unlocked bootloader, not rooted, 100% happy.

I'm running the CM Installer version of android. It's nice. I still get OTAs but it comes from CM whenever there's a new 4.x.x.

I have modded every phone I've ever had... but I feel like the Nexus 5 is the first phone I will not root. There is something about getting my updates from Google which makes me happy. I've been let down by carrier provided phones and finally, they are a thing of the past.
That's just gross bros. Stock ROM with no mods nor root ewwww I always thought the whole ideal of open source android and nexus was so the user could mod it. Isn't it why its incredibly easy to unlock the bootloader in this thing???its literally one piece of code lol u guys are silly willies. But whatever.

Most people don't want to deal with flashing new crap everytime something comes out and or losing their ESN and or bricking their device (very hard to do on a Nexus)
Me personally if the device is running like [email protected] ima root and custom rom it
If it an't broke, Don't fix it - 100% Stock nexus 5

I feel the same exact way. I used to root every Android phone I've ever owned but the Nexus 5 is an exception. It just works!
The only thing I wish is that the volume output is louder while playing music although I know it can be fixed if I decide to root.

I grabbed the Bright Red and it was manufactured in January and the speaker is quite loud. I was really shocked. Maybe your N5 didn't include the larger speaker holes?

We both have the latest revision and that's rev11. There is no such thing as larger speaker holes from the factory.

Read this thread to improve speaker and headset volume http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2532788. I don`t care how big the holes are, its all about software settings
I see. Thanks for the link. Wow, if they hardcoded 50% on the speakers, then it already has a pretty great speaker at 50% for my purposes. I haven't used it with speaker phone yet but it works decently with my Bluetooth headset.

Nexus 5 Mic issue

So I have this issue on my Nexus 5 where when I record something, it makes this HORRIBLE background noise, extremely bad, and I was just wondering if any of you guys have this as well? Because I just got my first RMA on Wednesday, and I don't want to have to get another one, was wondering if you guys know what it's about, and how to fix it and if not so that I can get another RMA.

Did you read all the other mic issue / noise cancellation posts?

I did actually, most of them just gave descriptions of a small hissing sound in the background, and the only page that i've found a post similar to mine, is a article, in which people can only comment, and they describe their issue to be a bit more like hissing and not this almost rain pouring down kind of noise.
I wouldn't make another thread for something I know is already out there.
Can you make an example recording?
Edit.. sorry maybe that's what your link is

It's there on the google drive link.
By the way I'm on Purity ROM with r35 from franco, on ART and with Viper4android, that's about it, issue began today, in my house while I was recording a video of my dog.
That's about all there is to it. I haven't done anything else to my Nexus 5 other than that
EDIT: now I'm almost sure it's not a software issue, i tried other cameras such as Snap Camera and the Instagram camera and snapchat camera, and they all have the same noise. Unless the noise cancellation is the issue, and all these apps use the Nexus 5 noise cancellation feature.

That's really loud but is it always like that? Perhaps its a result of your environment. What if you cover over the noise canc mic?
Its not so much hissing that's the issue. The sound is cancelled when it shouldn't be

Thanks, I just tried that, and it's not the environment, the room during the recordings is dead quiet. I tried covering both mics. but the issue is still there. and no, it wasn't always this loud, from what I remember, it was working fine at the beginning of the video with my dog, and then suddenly that weird noise began
Not sure if you're rooted or not but to rule out software, do a full wipe. Still a problem? RMA. There's definitely a bigger issue there than the standard issue as shown in my video

Sounds like a loose part inside?

Whenever I hold my phone upright and tap toward the top of the screen (even very lightly), the phone makes a weird clicking sound coming from inside. It sounds to me like the small vibrating spinning part that makes the phone vibrate. I don't know if it's just my model of the device of if this is normal but it's very annoying and noticeable. Also, if I shake the phone even a little I can hear the clicky sound. Not sure if I should take it back and replace it but I wanted to see if anyone else had this problem first?
I have this. Just notice it now. Can hear it from shaking the top of the phone back and forth

Honestly guys, this sound has always been in HTC and Samsung devices that I've had, and to be honest I didn't hear it in my S4,ehich was Prolly the first device in a while where I wouldn't hear a rattle. Someone mentioned a long time ago that's its the part for the vibration/haptic but I don't see how that could be. But yes, I hear it too, and have no clue what the hell it is lol

How much could you possibly be shaking your phone for this to be a problem?

Like I said, any time I even lightly tap the top area of the phone it makes that sound. I wouldn't mind personally if it's just when I shake the phone.
