Sounds like a loose part inside? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Whenever I hold my phone upright and tap toward the top of the screen (even very lightly), the phone makes a weird clicking sound coming from inside. It sounds to me like the small vibrating spinning part that makes the phone vibrate. I don't know if it's just my model of the device of if this is normal but it's very annoying and noticeable. Also, if I shake the phone even a little I can hear the clicky sound. Not sure if I should take it back and replace it but I wanted to see if anyone else had this problem first?

I have this. Just notice it now. Can hear it from shaking the top of the phone back and forth

Honestly guys, this sound has always been in HTC and Samsung devices that I've had, and to be honest I didn't hear it in my S4,ehich was Prolly the first device in a while where I wouldn't hear a rattle. Someone mentioned a long time ago that's its the part for the vibration/haptic but I don't see how that could be. But yes, I hear it too, and have no clue what the hell it is lol

Mine has it too.

Haha, holy cap, it really is the AutoFocus Sensor. Opening the camera, then tapping the phone, no rattle.
That's awesome, all this time, I had no idea. Appreciate the link

Interesting...so its the camera sensor
and when your camera is on, the noise goes away

Well that is disappointing. Guess I'm going to have to try and get used to it. Thanks for the info.

How is this dissapointing? I never even noticed this till I came across this thread
How much could you possibly be shaking your phone for this to be a problem?

Like I said, any time I even lightly tap the top area of the phone it makes that sound. I wouldn't mind personally if it's just when I shake the phone.

Lmao! Now I can't stop shaking my phone. Just noticed the noise because of this thread.

I assumed it was the pedometer.

I believe he meant why do you say its blown. Weird is a completely non-descriptive term. If you provide a better description it would be much easier to help you. Also, I'm not aware of spare speakers for the SNS.

Normal. Blown would be heavily distorted sound from all volumes. The crackles are normal> If you aren't happy with that, go do a swap. Or get a whole new phone together... Seriously, if I continue to have problems, I'm gonna drop it completely and go back to BlackBerry.
I. May wait till another android phone attracts me thence ill swap

I think mine just blown today.
My text rings started crackling.
Then all my sounds would stop, then little keyboard ticks would be fine, shutoff sound fine. then again rings crack etc.
Well I go play music and it's crackling like crazy, then goes on/off.
I BLOW into the speaker while music is playing and it "works" better.
Anyways now, it's really dead unless i use an air can to blow on the speaker and it'll make sound.
Blown.
Guess I'll make a claim for my SquareTrade warranty

ok just making sure because I saw another pic and it looked like the home button was out more
yeah, mines pretty flush also. Looks ok to me. Ive never dropped mine
Yea my PB is just about flush but my wife's white one is raised some. Probably just a manufacturer flaw in them
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Yeah my pebble blue home button sits flush as well and I was worried about this too when I saw a white demo unit with a slightly raised one. Not a big deal, but I wouldn't mind it sitting a little higher.

[REQUEST] Quick Glance to our Vzw GSIII

Could someone port us the Quick Glance feature? These would be great for meetings. :fingers-crossed:
Here's a Video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t6OjFjb_NM

It works when its placed on a flat surface. I also believe it works by using the proximity sensor which of course also uses light sensor so it can see your hand in the dark. I really do hope someone can get this to work on our GSIII.
Its cool. Don't see why it would be useful though..

You're at work, sitting at your desk. Your led light is blinking and you want to see what you've missed.
Hit a button? Who does that nowadays? Simply hover your hand over the proximity sensor and bam! You notice you've missed a text, which can wait. Carry on with your work, son.
Or you can wake your phone when the led is blinking, respond to the text, and then waste time on your phone reading XDA when you should be working.

Wow, that is pretty nifty. Let's be honest, most of the GSIII features are mostly just cool things to show people with SOME (but little) real application.
I would love this as well.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I wonder how much battery this consumes as it'd have to keep the proximity sensor active all the time.

In calls low mic?..no one can hear you

People constantly complain they cannot hear me and I have to talk loudly.. I haven't tested it yet on the other end. But is if a software or hardware issue?..

I have a similar issue too, but then I noticed that it's because of how I hold the phone. It may be the case that your finger or palm is covering up the microphone.

Otherwise works perfectly fine

Others have experienced the same issue, including me. I found that switching my rom to Cataclysm fixed the problem completely. The other thread is here :

Rattle sound by camera

I've heard of folks having rattle sounds from a loose power button, but that's not the case with me. I hear a rattle sound from the camera if I shake the phone or if the haptic feedback is used like when I'm typing. Is this normal or do I have something that needs to be fixed? Thanks!
