[Q] Left half of touchsceen non-responsive. Can it be fixed? - Asus Transformer TF700

Just like the title says, the screen has recently become unresponsive on roughly the left half of the touchscreen, save a small stripe at the very far left end. It is possible the tablet has endured some physical stress - I don't know.
Device is rooted, warranty void.
Do you think it can be fixed somehow?

I take that as a no...

If you're very very lucky it could be a software glitch fixed by a factory reset or reflash of the firmware. But much more likely your digitizer went bust. You can replace it, but it's not the easiest repair. Check ifixit and YouTube for videos

Did my touchscreen die?

Hello everyone,
Today i installed my parrot bluetooth carkit. And after i connected a couple of times my phone became unstable.
So unstable that i'm not able to tap the screen.....
I don't know what happened due that i have hard resetted the phone a couple of times and even switched from m-rom to energyrom 3.0 with the same results.
Only one thing that was strange is that the touch pro start up screen with the red characters in the right bottom.
That after i flashed m-rom to energy rom that the touch pro characters in the middle were still different like the way that are made in m-rom. With the addition : powered by m-rom
So this means that the phone doesnt format his core
Help please give me any advice.
UPDATE:When backlight is dimmed, it will be bright if i touch it once. Afterwards it will maintain the same.
I have tried several roms and tried to restore my SPL aswell, without any results till now.
I'm getting desperate now. Due that i stays in the screen of ALLIGNMENT, so i'm really not able to start up anything from now.
Have you dropped your device recently?
Try flashing a stock/shipped rom and hard-reset when after flashing the rom when you get to the "Tap here to set up your device" screen.
I have a OIL spot in the screen when i keep it in bright light.
This could be occured when the phone was inside my bag during my beach visit.....
I guess the phone turned liquid by the sun....
Does somebody ever experienced the same issue?

I have a oil spot, and the raster of the phone with little dots in visible in the ligt.
I have made a repair order at HTC.
Which didn't satisfy me at all!
They told me that it is not covered by warranty. I was shocked, this will cost me around 70 euro to fix, and my shop warranty is still valid. So i called the shop to explain this.
And they said if this is not caused by a user, we will change the phone, but first we what to have a diagnose from HTC.
So i decided to let HTC pick up my phone . They will have a repair time of 5 up till 10 days.
That's fair, but i'm not really happy with this situation. Because i think that the screen is the most harmful component. And this means that if this part fails that my phone becomes obsolete.
I will post my conclusion after i got my phone repaired.
I will return to the STOCK spl and the original rom just for warranty purposes.
dont tell them that you spilt anything on it or dropped it. Although they will be able to tell if there is water damage to the device you might get lucky and they won't notice.
Now is the oil spot from leaving it in the sun or suntan lotion getting in the device?

Nope nothing happened at all.
Thats the strange thing about this situation.
I was in the shadow of the sun and the bags were only filled with clothes. So it didn't drop or something else.
I was able to use my phone during the day.... and was getting more unresponsive during the time that went by.
So i will not accept any blame of myself, due that i have a warranty of 1 year from the factory which will not cover your display :S
But also have the store warranty... So i told the store that i will return the phone if there are any costs.
The store told me that they will wait on the diagnose of HTC which i have sent it to myself to reduce the time.
If the diagnose tells that it's not my fault, then i can return my phone probably.... He couldn't promise it due that i want to see the diagnose first.
So I will wait on HTC's conclusion.... And i'm afraid that they will try to blame me for it....
They better not I will be a pain in there arses
Hello, I have exactly the same problem. After flashing from energyrom 3.0 to Aurora, a few hours later, i couldn't get my phone out of lock. (slide a button to the right or left on your touchscreen)
I tried a soft reset, but the phone started up with the same locked screen. So, i tried a hard reset. From that moment on i got stuck at "align screen". I ve flashed several times with several ROM's but nothing. (by the way, whatever rom i install, the first screen always says: Energyrom by NTGZ28)
I used the trick to paste welcome.not on the micro card, to bypass the align screen. That works, but the touch screen doesn't work. I 've removed the protection of the screen, but that doesn't make a difference either. My device didn't fall, came into contact with water or anything that could harm the thing. Oh, when the backlight is dimmed, the screen reacts to tapping it. Please help me out ??
resolt the issue. Because of a lot scraches (spelled ok?), i removed the protective screen. When i put the new screen on, everything worked !

[Q] Hardware failure?

I've been trying to figure out what was wrong with my TF300T for the past week or so. It crashed apparently randomly throughout my 3-week trip (where I unfortunately couldn't really debug the thing).
First I thought it could be fixed through updating. I managed to get .29 on it after some fiddling, and it did seem to reduce the number of crashes, combined with a factory reset and fewer apps running. However, it didn't fix them all, and now I'm afraid the problem is much deeper.
Whenever I slightly bend the tablet at a specific spot (specifically, with my index finger roughly behind the top-left corner of the screen pushing towards me and my thumb resting on the top-left corner of the tablet pushing away from me), the screen shows heavy corruption, the touchscreen becomes unresponsive and the tablet reboots after a few seconds. This happens systematically, whether I am in the boot process or in the OS.
I have attached an example of one such screen corruption, where the screen fills with flickering white lines (the black splodges are just to hide a thing or two, they aren't part of the problem). Now this is one of many possible things I've seen. Others include the entire screen getting covered in a black & white checkered pattern and many more.
At this point I'm out of my RMA period with NCIX by a week or so. Does anybody have experience with dealing with them? Ideally they'd take care of all of it, but I'm afraid that might be out of question now. Otherwise, does Asus usually cover shipment costs both ways? It's brand new, I'm hoping for at least a bare minimum of support, but heh...
You have to pay to ship it there, they pay to ship it back.

Strange problem with the touchscreen

Hello xda dev!
I bought a used One S z520, the seller said it's in very good condition, and there are no problems with it. When I finally got it, i noticed, that it really is in a good condition, no signs of use, the screen is clear, no scratches, even the outer shell shows no signs of use.
I turned the phone on, and wanted to connect to WiFi, but the keyboard wouldn't work on the left side (Q, A, Z, Shift etc). Then I noticed the touchscreen is dead on the whole left side. So I used ScreenTouch Test to determine where the dead spots are. And, well...
<PLEASE CHECK PICTURE IN ATTACHMENT>
This seemed very strange, because it doesn't look like these are random dead spots, but more like the screen calibration is way off... I tried resetting the calibration, but that did nothing. Then I went to the bootloader...
The bootloader was "LOCKED", but the phone was s-off and SuperCID'ed, yet it still was using a stock rom, which seemed strange to me, like someone did a hackjob returning the phone to a stock state for selling...
So here is my question: is it possible, that someone installed something wrong (I don't know, firmware, kernel, anything) and I can repair the touchscreen by replacing some part of the software? Or is it a hardware problem, and the touchscreen is dead and I should return the phone to the guy? I would much rather make it work, not go the easy way of returning, but if that is impossible...

LCD screen freaking out

Hello everyone, I must first thank you all in advance for your time to consider the issue I'm encountering.
Background:
Android 4.4.2
Unlocked Bootloader
Rooted
Able to boot into recovery
Issue:
Out of the blue it seemed I started suffering from the black screen issue, so I power cycled the phone and still had no display.
I took the phone apart to see if it was a small issue of the LCD ribbon cable getting knocked and managed to get to this stage.(See video link below, please excuse the coughing the household has got man flu )
Video Link
So I managed to get it to boot up and the screen is very glitchy, the digitizer is fine as shown in the video.
The Punchline
If I've already determined the LCD issue is at fault then why am I asking your kind folk for help you may ask?
I'm asking because I want to be sure it is merely just a LCD fault and not something deeper. I don't want to order a replacement screen only for the issue to persist.
Update:
Navigates settings fine, tried disabling h/w overlay to force GPU rendering but that made no difference. What also happens if I were to swipe left and right again on the app drawer the screen would eventually just fade/burn out to black and not turn on again unless I rebooted.
This leads me to suspect this maybe deeper than a LCD issue and more a hardware issue in regards to the CPU/GPU.
Thank you all for your time.
Kind Regards,
Ryan

Touch screen on bottom of screen is not working since 2 weeks.

2 weeks ago suddenly my phones touch screen from bottom stopped working, I thought it was temporary issue but it's moving on upward, now my touchscreen from right side is also stopped working. All navigation keys are working properly, as well display is working. 2 weeks ago I used my phone in rain for calls but I immediately wiped it off. I have already tried wiping data which didn't help . what should I do now?
Sounds like a hardware failure. Unless your S7 has for some reason lost its waterproofing and water got in the phone, you should take it back to your telco, although it's gonna cost a bit of coin to get the screen replaced if you've voided the warranty.

It's out of warranty, is it possible to replace only touchscreen as display is working fine?
