Hello there tablet forum.
I have a quick question pertaining to the P-5113 Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 edition. As stated in the title, I am trying to update my tablet directly from Touchwiz Jellybean to Lollipop 5.1.1. My question is if I need to take some sort of special precaution prior to updating.
The reason for this being that when I was dealing with my S5 update procedure, I needed to flash a different version of the bootloader due to the system getting re-partitioned as a result of the update. Is that the case here or can I just flash directly to Lollipop through CWM or TWRP?
Thanks!

If you have android version 4.1.2 then there's no need to update boot loader, make sure you have the latest twrp by android andi(not from rom manager
and yeah make sure you have the latest gapps made for 5.1.1 not for 5.0

Hi Guys,
Here is my question:
-I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100, and I upgraded it to 4.1.2 (OFFICIAL) via ODIN, and after I installed the ClockworkMod v. 6.0.2.3 using Rom Manager. I later learned that a friend had been bricked their Samsung Galaxy Ace s5830m with the OTA update to 4.0, and everything seemed to indicate that the culprit was the Clockworkmod that he had installed.. Now, it appeared to me an OTA update alert on my tablet (which should not appear, since the current state of my tablet is "modified") in order to upgrade to 4.2.2.
Well, my question is if I can upgrade my Tablet via OTA even with ClockworkMod, or is it better to update using ODIN...

No, but Sammobile's team is working on it. My current 4.1.2 rom is from Hong Kong and I downloaded it from Sammobile :
AP5100ZSDMB2CP5100ZSDMA1CSC5100ZSDMB2
sadly i think the update you are receiving is P5100ZSDMH1 which is an update to 4.1.2 (not the 4.2.2 update)
i will try the update on my tab i hope i am wrong :fingers-crossed:
hello all,im new here.searched but didn't find a similar post.
my galaxy tab 2 10.1 is currently running 4.1.2 JB. it says your device is out of date. but, i can't update it because its rooted and cwm recovery is installed. whenever i click on check for updates it says your device has been modified, updates are not available. i tried through kies too,it also says that updates aren't supported.what should i do?
Yeah, you can't download official OTA updates with a custom recovery. If you want updates from Samsung you need to relock the bootloader and go back to stock recovery.

Check this out and look at section 3

Basically, you just need to decide if you want 4.3 or 4.4 custom rom then select the one you need from the link.

If your on 4.3 and did the update via OTA your on a locked bootloader. You CANNOT run custom roms other than TW bootloader locked roms via safestrap
@buhohitr you've always been helpful in your posts but the question that wasn't asked if this 4.3 update was taken via OTA they can't take a custom rom

Hello all,
I own a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus (GT-P6210) and have a few questions or considerations to make.
I searched the forum for answers but cannot find it.
Currently my tab is not rooted or running custom firmware.
Android version 3.2 Honeycomb is installed since the purchase, but I cannot download updates.
The OTA updater says no update available and the Samsung Kies software also says 3.2 is the most recent version.
On the internet I find lots of news articles writing about Samsung official update to ICS 4.0 and even JB, which I cannot download.
Does somebody know how to get official update from Samsung for the tablet?
If not, I consider rooting the tablet and download the official firmware myself.
After a lot of research I have some question marks for the procedure.
I want to install CWM with root.
Backup my Android 3.2 ROM via CWM.
Update Android 3.2 to 4.1 via Odin.
But, as far as I know, the root access will be removed when using Odin to flash official firmware.
CWM does not work without root, so how will I get root access after flashing Android 4.1?
Sorry for the large story, but I do not know how to write this shorter.
I am looking forward to your replies.
After installing the updated firmware you redo the root procedure and install cwm again, after you can use Romtoolbox to remove unwanted Samsung bloatware and lighten you ROM so as to speed up your tab.
Pp.
First, you need to upgrade your tab to 4.1 with odin. You can find the firmware at sammobile. Then flash cwm/twrp from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538507
To root you can flash supersu 2.46
Thanks for your replies!
I am using Android 4.1 now for a few months on the tablet, works great!
Very happy that Odin did good work.
i have my rooted galaxy tab s6 (SM-T865) running Android 10 , i want to downgrade the Android version to 7.0 Nougat
is it possible and how ?
Note: i think i can install TWRP on my tab , my concern is the custom roms may break my tab

You can't downgrade using a stock nougat firmware due to the fact that you can't flash a firmware that has an older binary than the binary version of the currently installed firmware, for this reason, you will not be able to flash a stock nougat firmware.
But, if your bootloader is unlocked and there is a TWRP recovery for your specific model number and there if there are Nougat custom ROMs for your device, you can flash TWRP and then flash a Nougat ROM for your device. If there is not a TWRP or no custom ROMs for your specific model number, you will not be able to go back to nougat.
