Has anyone had the problem of USB no longer working? It charges the device, but PC will not recognize the device - no icon or ability to see it as a drive in the PC. I've tried different cables and laptops, but same problem. (And the old cables & laptops work fine with my other USB devices). The phone & USB worked flawlessly the first 4 days I've had it - no problems transferring files from PC to phone & back.
Bone stock Galaxy S6 128 GB on Verizon.
Win 8.1 on Yoga 13 and Win 7 on Latitude 6400.
Thanks for any guidance.
Check to make sure the drivers are on the computer and try a different USB ports

Make sure USB debugging is checked. Go to about phone. Go to "build". Tap on it rapidly until it says you now are a developer. Back out of about phone and go into the new option "Developer Options" and check USB debugging. When you hook up your phone you may get a popup that asks if you want to trust this computer. Say yes. On your notification page, it might say you are connected as an installer. Change it to media. Sometimes you need to toggle back and forth from camera and media.

Thank you. Yes, tried Dev mode and USB debugging, but no luck. Phone double-beeps when I connect the USB to it (and begins to charge), but no pop-ups on either phone or laptop in relation to storage / ability to manage files. No drive shown for the phone (whereas Thurs-Fri the phone showed up as an extra drive when I plugged it in.)
I also did a Factory Reset, just to see if going all the way back to square one would help. No luck there either. Phone still won't recognize laptop, laptop doesn't recognize phone.
That leads me to think something died in the hardware, firmware or something. This Win8.1 laptop works great with all my other devices.
I'm in the 10 day trial/return period (and coming from 2 yrs of flawless-except-****ty-camera HTC One M7 experience) - so if this is the "crap" quality people say is endemic to Samsung (srsly, 3 days and the phone does this? WTH), please let me know so I can get a G4 or Nexus 6 (can't go back to HTC M9 since the M7's camera was a 2 year prison sentence).

Been on the line with Verizon Tech Support for 2 hours as of this writing. Re-did all the diags, reset, Kies, etc. that I did Sunday from the VZN and Sammy websites. Combined with the re-setting of folders, Peel remote, TouchDown, etc. I'd done on the first phone, I'll have wasted a full day just fixing the phone.
Wish the HTC M9 had a better camera, G4 had better battery life or Nexus 6 had a better audio chip. If they send me a new GS6 and it flops again, does anyone have a recommended fallback phone to get as a placeholder until something better makes it to market (M9+ with fingerprint reader, better CPU, better camera)?

NO HELP FROM VERIZON "TECH SUPPORT" OR "WARRANTY" having spent 3 hours on tech support with Verizon...
Our Samsung GS6 failed Saturday (USB won't connect to any laptops using any cables) and I spent Sunday doing Verizon's online fixes (including safe mode, factory reset, Kies, etc.) and 3 hours with Verizon tech support this morning with no resolution.
Verizon is calling Samsung and "will get back with me later this week" if and when they find or make sense of other field failures that match my phone. (Really? And how would Zappos, Amazon and other customer service benchmarks handle it? Yep, overnight a new one after 5 min call and issue RMA for the defective item to be overnighted for tear-down / fault analysis). And by the way, my wife and I are paying for "next day" replacement and within the 14-day trial period...
So one would think Verizon would overnight ship a new GS6 out to me immediately and have me ship the defective GS6 to Samsung for tear-down analysis.
That's not the case. How Verizon is handling this frankly has us spooked that Verizon does not in fact stand behind either their products or "warranty" services.
I'd hope that our 14-day return-policy time-clock be reset and a new GS6 black 128GB be overnighted to me, or find some way of extending the return window (since the device, and its "warranty" and the customer "service" have all failed within 2 days of receiving the phone).
Think I'm going to be stuck with the LG G4 or maybe even swapping carriers.
Go to a store. If they can't do anything ask for a refund.

It's not a work/corporate PC, is it? I had a similar issue, and turns out that USB storage devices were disabled by Windows policy.
Have you tried to use ADB with the phone? If you install ADB drivers, you could verify that you can at least connect...

One of my laptops is personal Win 8.1, the other is corporate Win 7. Neither laptop recognized the Samsung GS6 after day 2, but worked flawlessly up until that time.
Still nothing back from Tech Support / Samsung "researching" the problem. Total WTF with those yaboes.
Monday I engaged the team who originally sold us the GS6 at our local store, and they're saying my new phone (replacement) will be in the store by Sat 6/27. 5+ days without a phone, but if this replacement doesn't suffer any issues, great.
Have you solved this issue? My wife's meet the same issue. And we did a lot ..... But it still no work.
This happened to me today. Computer would not recognize device. I toggled USB to camera mode then back to media device in phone settings and my pc recognized it again.

I am using a Sprint Touch Pro with a 16GB MicroSD. The following is a list a problems that I have. Just wondering if anyone has found fixes/workarounds.
1. If I try to sync using ActiveSync 4.5 while I have the MicroSD card installed, ActiveSync hangs when it gets to the "Looking for Changes" step. If I sync without the card installed, it works fine. Not sure what is going on.
2. Can't log in to Windows Live Messenger from Windows Live Mobile. A search shows that others are having this problem as well. Has anyone found a solution?
3. Numerous problems with the latest version of Windows Search Live (Won't find addresses, Locate Me is grayed out, auto-suggest won't work, map font size WAY too small). Probably bugs. I wish I could re-install the old version. I really miss this app.
So many really-annoying software-related issues! Otherwise, great device!
4. very slow GPS respond.
5. tomtom6, screen switch off while in call, GPS signal gone. (testing Garmin, wishing luck).
6. that damn d pad
7. battery life of course
8. unmapable buttons
perhaps a faulty sd card? Or you sync alot of things and it maybe taking a very long time.
i had the windows live messenger issue. Said no connection or in a bad location even though i was able to use the internet on my phone. so not sure what was wrong with then i flashed to latest ProVEN rom and all is good

Actually the SD card seems to work just fine otherwise, so I don't think its a bad card.
I had no problem syncing right after my last hard reset even with the card installed. It wasn't until after a few days that the sync problem crept in, so I am assuming that some of the software I installed created the issue. From my searching, I have found that others have seen this same problem, but, so far, no fixes.
The Windows Live Messenger issue is usually a "Server Error." From what I have seen, quite a few other people are having the same issue. I am using the stock, Sprint ROM.
my idea to the horrible D-Pad.

Just need someone to develop it.
I had my first look at the Touch Pro and Fuze today. The Touch Pro was in rough shape - when the keyboard was open the touch screen portion was rather jiggly. When asked, the Sprint salesman said it was a demo and roughly handled. But I doubt it's the most handled phone in the store and it got me wondering about the long-term durability of the Fuze.
1. How has your Fuze held up physically so far?
2. The AT&T salesman said the problem return rates on their wi-fi phones are as follows:
Fuze - 15-20%
Blackberry Bold - 1-2%
Samsung Epix - 0% (store has never had one returned)
(The salesman was pushing me towards the Blackberry))
Would you agree or disagree with these stats based on your experiences with cell phones?
Thanks in advnace for your input. I've learned a great deal on this forum by reading the threads!

Try this, Go settings, connections, usb to pc and untick the box "enable advanced network functionality.
9) No option to manaully change audio routing (headphone on/off or bluetooth).
the Windows Live problems are specific to the Windows Live app, not the TP specifically. I'd suggest complaining to M$ about it

almost all windows mobile phones either give problem from the start or will give problems later, my g/f mogal just died on her after 1 yr of use sent it under the "carrier warranty" and got back a Sprint Touch Pro and a few weeks from after getting now she cant get txt message only send.
she carry the touch pro into sprint to get it repair before work around 10am i think and returned after work to discover her phone not fix yet then when the lady finally came back, told her that they couldnt fix it and she will have to pay $$ to get it replace on the spot or send it back through the warranty company that she got the phone from *mind u she had sprint warranty but apperently they use a 3rd party company*
so now she is once again stuck without a phone
personally i have said this before and i will say it again, WINDOWS MOBILE SUCKS ASS
if apple was so into locking down the iphone and it had a keyboard would of been the perfect phone of my dreams.
to bad i guess there is nothing remotely close to the iphone
As of this time, we do not have a way to restore to stock rom. We are waiting for the rom to be reuploaded somewhere. If you have it, please get with me.
Click here and download the three files:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27647443&postcount=441
Unzip and place those three files on your sd card that goes in your zeen.
Power off the zeen.
Insert the sd card.
Hold the two volume buttons, then press and hold the power button and wait for the flash to complete.
It will say to remove sd card and press any key. Do so.
Once powered up, your should have a semi aosp build of....I think it's 2.2, correct me if wrong.

i just bought one yesterday ($299 @ bb w/ staples pricematch). haven't had a chance to do much with it yet, but i'll play with it this weekend. btw, i'm in KC too.
i have one also one issue though i dont have the printer for the setup is there a workaround for this? >_<
Don't need printer to setup
you shouldn't need a printer to set up just ZEEN. I know it forces you to dock ZEEN to printer, in that case, pull the menu down from the top, manually go into settings. Let me see if I can come up with documentation. I just did it and its working fine.
jlechner,
do you remember which version of Z4root u used?

I have had my Zeen for two weeks now. One thing that has been very helpful is taking all the apk. files I like on EVO and putting them on the Zeen sd card. Most are working great!
I would like to know Z4 root that was used also.

No, but after you asked that I remember when I used the latest one, it kinda messes up. It puts it in some kind of test mode, and upon almost any reboot wipes everything.
z4root v1.3.0 gives me temporary "partial" root. Superuser works for some root apps like Root Explorer and AutoStart, but Titanium Backup and AutoStart do not see root.
Still unable to use RomManager because the device is still NAND locked.

Has this gone anywhere? I just picked up a printer and got the pretty nifty tablet with it... or is that I picked up an HP Zeen tablet and got a pretty functional printer with it... Either way NIFTY COMBO!!
I have a rooted Nexus One and Motorola Backflip as well as a jailbroken iPhone 4, 3GS, and 3G.
This thing has to have a loophole somewhere. If we could get it running Android 2.2 and drop that horrific Yahoo interface we might be getting somewhere.
HP Zeen
I am having the same issues with the Z4root. Some things work and some thing don't recognize the root.
The one thing I love about the tablet is the battery life. I installed everything that was on my IPOD, and plug it into any amp--hours of music, and it is great for watching movies.
It is like getting free tablet with a great printer. No monthly payment!!!
Holding both volume buttons at boot will ask to erase the user data. But that's all I've found so far.
Has anyone been able to use Dolphin HD browser on this? Amazon has the Printer for $296 with free shipping. Now the price point is where it should be. Could someone list the known working apps for this tablet? Thanks.
Edit: I found it for $259.99 from Adorama with free shipping.
td1320, i have been using Dolphin Browser HD on the Zeen for about a month and a half now, it works great.
Zeen root
Which rooted apps have you been able to put in??
Do you guys recommend this printer? I have seen some bad reviews.

Hi, I got one of these at a junksale today minus the printer or anything to charge it.
I have made up a charger with correct voltage & amps and fitted a suitable plug. It charges.
I am still to get past the setup screen much help would be appreciated in knowing how you do this - if at all possible.
One thing I have been able to do is when battery warning comes on access the dashboard and connect it to my wireless network. I am looking though the settings now to see if this setup process can be overridden in there by perhaps deleting something or killing a service.
I have an IP address of it sat on my network, could you SSH into it I wonder?
Ideally I could do with taking it into a store and just plugging it into one on the shelf on display. But that would be a bit cheeky.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Andrew

I picked my Zeen up from a local classified site for $50 because the kid couldnt get it past the printer setup. I'm assuming it was probably stolen the more I think of it, since if it was purchased with the printer it would be setup already... but I bought it from someone who claimed to be the original owner so i cant do much more about it.
On The Way home I had a brilliant idea.
I stopped at staples, took my zeen in and docked it on their printer for 30 seconds and it finished the setup... Pretty easy...
However, I have since reset the device and foun an easier way.
YOU MUST HAVE A POWER/DATA Mini-USB CABLE FOR THIS!
it can not be just a power cable, it has to have DATA capabilities.
(I Used A MacBook For This But It Should Work For A PC)
-Plug in your USB cable to the computer
-Plug In your Zeen AC Adapter (YOU MUST HAVE AN AC ADAPTER AND MINI USB)
-then boot your zeen to the setup menu
-plug in the mini usb to your zeen and hopefully it gives you the option to continue setup. (If it doesnt give it about 60 seconds)
-If it doesnt work unplug the mini-usb and plug it back in
I have reset twice now and this has worked for me.
-If it doesn't show up unplug the mini-usb and then plug it back in.
I have reset twice now, the first time i had to unplug it a few times but the 2nd reset it took it the first time.
Current info on it - Android 4.1.1 and stock build - epad-10.4.4.23-20121127
I was rooted for about 2 months and had the tracking cilents frozen in titanium. About 2 weeks ago I saw a thread about the update for .23 firmware. I went and unfroze the clients and did a reboot with no problem getting the OTA update and restoring root. Before this I was able to hook up my tablet to a pc and transfer files. I didn't have need to use this function until last night when I discovered that it will no longer recognize being attached to the pc.
Essentially nothing happens. There is no sound and notification icon on the pc that a device was attached. Nothing shows up in device manager. The tablet doesn't show the USB connection icon. To make sure the usb port was good i connected my cell phone to it, bluetooth dongle, and a thumb drive. It works fine. This system runs XP with the drivers previously installed and working. I tried my laptop that runs Vista and worked fine previously when connected. Again I get the same issue. Even their Asus sync software on the pc shows no device attached. Just now I tried hooked up the tablet to my work pc and no change. That makes 3 pc's that I've attempted.
I can only think it was the firmware update. That was the only change I made to the system. Last night I did a factory reset of stock to see if a setting got messed up somewhere but there is still no connection. I probably lost root in that process and since it won't connect to the a pc, I doubt I can get that back. That is the least of my concerns though. I fear that something physical with the connector went bad that tells the OS a pc connection is occurring. Would that even be possible to happen yet work fine for charging the tablet?
Thanks for any suggestions or comments.
Yes, it is the JB update if your PC is running XP (not sure about Vista, but it's probably the same). You probably noticed that the options for USB connection in JB are limited to Media and Camera? Under JB the tablet sadly does not connect as an external drive to a XP PC anymore.
The Infinity does shows up under Windows 7 as an external device. I looked high and low, but there does not seem to be a fix for XP.
My work-around for anything I do not want in my Dropbox (which is by far the smoothest way to get something from your PC to your tablet) is using Airdroid from the play store. That app uses your WiFi network to transfer files. Works great! And no cables!
Larger files, like movies, I transfer via SD card. Truth be told - I do not really miss the USB connection anymore.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk HD
It's odd that it won't recognise a connection at all. Have you tried reflashing the full stock firmware?
Under JellyBean, XP, Vista, 7 and 8 recognise it as a Portable Media Device. My main PC runs XP SP3, so no, it's not an XP-issue.
With ICS it used to be an external drive, but sadly that ended with JB. (Which is a feature I thoroughly detest on every device including my sgs3, but alas.) Originally they deleted the feature in ICS to begin with, but for some reason it continued to work on some TF700's. Not all of them, though.
I miss UMS.... MTP drives me insane on any device. It keeps whining about literally every file format that it "is not natively compatible with the device [insert 16 more lines of text I have stopped reading because it is actually longer than the dialogue window...]" . Even .jpgs.... Which is ridiculous, as stock gallery recognises .jpgs just fine.
I mailed the tablet in for RMA and they, well someone at the center, signed for it on Friday. I tried doing the wipes and even downloaded the firmware from Asus and reinstalled it from the sd card. Nothing happens when it's connected. I got it working originally under XP following a guide somewhere on here. You have to update windows media player or something like that to end the failed driver update error. It will install the MTP support or proper drivers that are not included in XP. But yeah, now in Vista or my XP machines nothing happens and I can only assume it's hardware with the connector not recognizing a pc signal. It was working fine with JB installed before.
When I called into support their answer was RMA anyway. I had already done everything the support person was going to ask; reboot, factory reset, try different pc, make sure the usb ports work. Aside form a little screen bleed the tablet has worked without a problem until this last firmware update. There other ways for getting media to the device and that didn't concern me. It is the inability to connect the device to the pc for actions such as rooting, unlocking, or other similar functions that bother me. I had it rooted (lost now that I kept trying different wipes etc) but feared something going wrong later if I unlocked it and lost warranty. Once warrant is up this device is fair game and going unlocked for sure.
In case anyone else encounters the same problem, apparently the connector went bad on the tablet. They replaced the part under warranty. Took about 10 days in total and so far the only issues I see with the tablet is bent metal where the connector and one of the prong holes for the dock is and the screen. I assume the bent metal is from the tools used to pry open the case. The glass over the screen seems mushy and a bit popped up now on the edges. Don't know if that is something I should worry about or just expect since it was opened.
It did come back with 10.4.4.16 firmware. I was real tempted before to unlock and really let the tablet shine but hesitant now. They may not have covered the warranty repair if I did and I don't have another $500 to drop if something else goes bad that isn't minor.
No pc recgnized
I had this happen a few days ago after rom-ing ..... In win 7......

Here in the usa most states have warranty laws that void their claim that unlocking it voids the warranty...and last year the supreme court ruled that jailbreaking was legal in all 50 states, this claim by asus is clearly seen for what it is....a veiled attempt to not have to honor warranty on zillions of devices...to save their scamming butts alot of money
on std warranty repairs. Its a scam, they know it.....and now u know it....
If u unlock, your state warranty laws will in most cases still enforce your warranty...
If u threaten to file a class action suit agianst them for it, they will back down and honor your warranty....or they loose bigtime......
Asus corporate is not...your friend
I have problem with my Nexus 6 (no warranty) from last two months. Phone is on 7.0
One night I noticed my phone says it is charging over USB when connected to the quick charger so it is charging very slowly (more than 8 hours from 0-100%).
I was using the Motorola Charger when it start to do only USB charge. I tried different "regular" chargers and multiple USB cords. All yield the same results. So it seems to be some faulty hardware but I don't know which part.
Also i noticed that PC has stopped recognize it when it's connected - it only show USB charging. I don't have option to set connection to MTP (alternative I found it in developer options - same result)
Already tried:
-different chargers
-different usb cables
-factory reset on marshmallow
-downloaded Nougat on phone
I sent it to 2 different repair centers of Motorola in India.
1 changed the port and still the problem persisted.
The other one was a more advanced service center. They took the phone for around 2 months and then they told me there is some hardware problem and it would cost around 60% of the device cost to repair the problem. (It is equal to Rs. 30000 which is more than even the price of a brand new OnePlus 3)
On asking the problem, they just kept telling there is some Hardware problem which they couldn't explain but they knew this would repair the device.
Now I'm a student. Somehow i bought a Nexus 6 that too when its prices were at peak (Rs. 48999) with my parents help.
I use it as my only primary gear. Now it takes around 7 hours to fully charge if kept on Airplane mode and that too without using it.
Its just a waste i am keeping because i cannot afford the repair and even cannot but a new Phone.
Choosing Motorola sucked! (I still trust Google and love it)
I saw TK using Nexus 6. I was much excited. I saw all his videos. It was fun but now even he has dumped the device.
Now i just keep on trying my luck on Giveaways by XDA expecting to get a device.
(I was too excited when they had a Pixel Giveaway by Rhinoshield but unfortunately i didn't win)
All my hope is XDA Giveaways coz i can only trust them.
If you find any solution to this problem please do reply here or mail me.
It would be of great help.

No USB Driver > No MTP Mode > No LG Support Tools/Bridge/PC Suite? Support Sucks
I bought this phone from Fido on Black Friday last year. Immediately realized that there wasn't a USB driver for it and the Windows MTP driver in Win 10 does squat. This means that the phone will not be seen by LG Support Tools, Bridge or even the old PC Suite. There is no MTP mode in the settings either. USB Debugging is easy enough to find in the Dev settings, the USB mode status shows up in notifications no issue but MTP is MIA and PTP does not allow the tools to see the phone.
The LG support site has not changed one iota since release of this phone. In fact, LG couldn't even be bothered to post anything beyond the generic info that tells you to download support tools and install the non-existant USB driver. Good Grief! They released it and immediately abandoned it. I called LG as soon as I realized the driver issue and was assured it would be addressed. That was Black Friday and here we are in March and nothing, absolutely nothing. I tried their online chat and after a couple of minutes the service rep left, never to return. I called LG Canada Support and guess what, wonder of wonders I'm transfered to a call centre in the GD Philipines where the rep knew absolutely nothing!
I'm in contact with Fido with every intention of returning this phone. I'm not paying for 2 years for a phone that there seems to be 0 interest in supporting.
If anyone has discovered solutions to these issues by all means let me know but AFAIK there are none.

Nope...Phone shows Jan 1, 2019 as latest security patch date. Honestly I hadn't even looked, I'm so pissed off at LG and this phone. I can't be rid of it soon enough. I was really excited about Android One and gace up wireless charging, more RAM etc and am so disappointed. With only 32Gb and not even being able to reliably get phots on to the SD or apps as it seems the dev option to force install apps doesn't do squat. My 32GB is almost full already and I have a near empty 64GB SD card that I really can't do much with.

we are on the same boat, but I'm fine with 32 GB. I bought this phone only because pure android experience with monthly security update. LG can't even keep their promise to provide update monthly, disappointed.

Well one way or another I'll be rid of it. Either Fido or LG is going to take this dog back and get me into something else... Monday I have the day off and will be headed to the Fido Store and it will be handled.
What a monumental waste of time!

So after multiple calls and finally ending up dealing with retention, I am headed in tomorrow (Friday) to trade in the G7 One for a Samsung Galaxy S8. Between the trade-in value of the LG, the goodwill credits I negotiated and finally with a discount I worked out on my monthly, I actually end up ahead of where I would have been had I kept the Lg, from a $$ standpoint for starters. Little older phone but one I am quite familiar with as my wife has one so I know exactly what I am getting and will have no issue with it. The S8 was the phone I was originally going to grab in the first place but I got distracted by a bigger prepaid visa offer and the hype of the One OS. I should have stuck to my guns and avoided the hassle.
According to Versus, the S8 is a better phone anyway. https://versus.com/en/lg-g7-one-vs-samsung-galaxy-s8
I almost forgot to mention, I could have had an S9 instead but would not have gotten the monthly discount on my plan so opeted for the S8 instead. The S8 and 9 are not so far apart that I thought it would be worth it paying the extra.
Wait does this mean you can't even plug it in a pc to transfer files ?

You are able to do that but thats all you can do. You can't even format the SD card from your PC. No backup tools unless you want to use/buy 3rd party, none of which are any good unless your phone is rooted IMHO anyway. The back-up measure you have, as is, is to you Google drive but even that doesnt wotk properly as if you even think about adjusting prefs for pics the interface locks up forcing you to back out by quitting. It was like that from day 1. LG initially told me they would be releasing drivers/tools forthwith and kept up that charade until just recently when they basically told me that it was Google's fault. Between that and the now completely MIA seurity updates enough was enough..
Didnt even bother to mention the lackluster performance as well. Both CSR2 Racing and Asphalt 9 were unable to run at full spec without them having issues. Pretty sad for what was supposed to be a flagship phone.
A tiny delay for me but this morning I am on my way to the FIDO store to rid myself of this POS and get a Galaxy S8 in its place.

Thank you for the reply, this phone was on my go to list after my 6p dies but not sure anymore, it seems all the models offered to me aren't rootable and won't ever be, I am sad. This phone had sd card headphone jack and notification light, but no root is a real big deal. Lets hope my 6p hangs on for long while.

And security updates are non-existent... still on January
just tested out the usb connection on my linux machine - it shows up in the file explorer as an MTP device, and when running lsusb from a command line i get this: Bus 001 Device 004: ID 1004:631c LG Electronics, Inc. G2/Optimus Android Phone [MTP mode]
pretty messed up but pretty typical LG to not have a proper full function driver, i really get the impression that they don't care about their mobile phone division at all... i mean, the usb cable that came in the box won't even do 18w charging, i had to grab a heavier gauge monoprice one before my inline voltage tester would show above 12w... like, they saved a few cents per unit skimping on a cable? wow lol, classy company!

I got mine on Black Friday from Fido. It went back to Fido last week. It was a bit of a chore/fight but they took it back and I walked out of the store with a Galaxy S8 as a straight swap and even managed to get a 25% loyalty credit applied to my monthly, for all the hassle. That's saying something as I was on a grandfathered medium plan that not only no longer exists but that was already dirt cheap. It took dealing with retentions first and then the office of the president, at Fido, but in the end they treated me what i feel was quite fairly under the circumstances.
The Galaxy S8 btw completely walks all over the G7 One performance wise. making the LG experience even more of a disappointment.
