List of current Touch Pro problems - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I am using a Sprint Touch Pro with a 16GB MicroSD. The following is a list a problems that I have. Just wondering if anyone has found fixes/workarounds.
1. If I try to sync using ActiveSync 4.5 while I have the MicroSD card installed, ActiveSync hangs when it gets to the "Looking for Changes" step. If I sync without the card installed, it works fine. Not sure what is going on.
2. Can't log in to Windows Live Messenger from Windows Live Mobile. A search shows that others are having this problem as well. Has anyone found a solution?
3. Numerous problems with the latest version of Windows Search Live (Won't find addresses, Locate Me is grayed out, auto-suggest won't work, map font size WAY too small). Probably bugs. I wish I could re-install the old version. I really miss this app.
So many really-annoying software-related issues! Otherwise, great device!

4. very slow GPS respond.
5. tomtom6, screen switch off while in call, GPS signal gone. (testing Garmin, wishing luck).

6. that damn d pad
7. battery life of course
8. unmapable buttons

perhaps a faulty sd card? Or you sync alot of things and it maybe taking a very long time.
i had the windows live messenger issue. Said no connection or in a bad location even though i was able to use the internet on my phone. so not sure what was wrong with then i flashed to latest ProVEN rom and all is good

Actually the SD card seems to work just fine otherwise, so I don't think its a bad card.
I had no problem syncing right after my last hard reset even with the card installed. It wasn't until after a few days that the sync problem crept in, so I am assuming that some of the software I installed created the issue. From my searching, I have found that others have seen this same problem, but, so far, no fixes.
The Windows Live Messenger issue is usually a "Server Error." From what I have seen, quite a few other people are having the same issue. I am using the stock, Sprint ROM.

my idea to the horrible D-Pad.

Just need someone to develop it.

I had my first look at the Touch Pro and Fuze today. The Touch Pro was in rough shape - when the keyboard was open the touch screen portion was rather jiggly. When asked, the Sprint salesman said it was a demo and roughly handled. But I doubt it's the most handled phone in the store and it got me wondering about the long-term durability of the Fuze.
1. How has your Fuze held up physically so far?
2. The AT&T salesman said the problem return rates on their wi-fi phones are as follows:
Fuze - 15-20%
Blackberry Bold - 1-2%
Samsung Epix - 0% (store has never had one returned)
(The salesman was pushing me towards the Blackberry))
Would you agree or disagree with these stats based on your experiences with cell phones?
Thanks in advnace for your input. I've learned a great deal on this forum by reading the threads!

Try this, Go settings, connections, usb to pc and untick the box "enable advanced network functionality.

9) No option to manaully change audio routing (headphone on/off or bluetooth).

the Windows Live problems are specific to the Windows Live app, not the TP specifically. I'd suggest complaining to M$ about it

almost all windows mobile phones either give problem from the start or will give problems later, my g/f mogal just died on her after 1 yr of use sent it under the "carrier warranty" and got back a Sprint Touch Pro and a few weeks from after getting now she cant get txt message only send.
she carry the touch pro into sprint to get it repair before work around 10am i think and returned after work to discover her phone not fix yet then when the lady finally came back, told her that they couldnt fix it and she will have to pay $$ to get it replace on the spot or send it back through the warranty company that she got the phone from *mind u she had sprint warranty but apperently they use a 3rd party company*
so now she is once again stuck without a phone
personally i have said this before and i will say it again, WINDOWS MOBILE SUCKS ASS
if apple was so into locking down the iphone and it had a keyboard would of been the perfect phone of my dreams.
to bad i guess there is nothing remotely close to the iphone

Sick of it, returning it, sooo disappointing

Okay, I'm going to (try and) return my device (through devicewire, anyone know how good their returns policy is?). Here, in order of importance, is why:
1- Bluetooth doesn't work any more (it comes up saying "Error: bluetooth hardware problem"
2- Phone needs a hard restart (battery out) ONCE A DAY. This is despite resetting it and keeping it clean as received. Something will freeze
3- It's slow. REALLY slow. OMG how boringly slow.
4- Most screen taps require one, two or three attempts to get it to recognise - whether I do the registry hack or not
5- It ain't that pretty, it ain't that small, it ain't that light
Shame, because it does have a fair bit going for it. But I'm finding that they've just tried to push the envelope too far, especially on a system that is such a HUGE MESS already (Windows Mobile).
Gawd I HATE it when a gadget doesn't work out. And I hate it more when it cost me near enough £400 ($800) to get it
It really sounds like you have defective unit. Maybe you should try to exchange it for another one.

Yep. Not one issue with mine. As for speed, I guess that's all relative. However, I have had enough WM devices in the past to base my comparisons to and I don't find the TC to be any worse than my past devices. In some respects, it is faster at some operations (ie. opening applications, browsing directories, etc) than my past device. I have no issue with touching the screen and the amount of pressure needed.
As for the size and weight of the TC, you'll be hard pressed to find anything that's leaps and bounds smaller and lighter on the market right now with the exception of the original Touch series.

Taking the battery out does not hard reset the device, it just reboots it. If you check the wiki, you sill see how to really perform the hard reset. This may be all your device needs. Sounds like some corrupt files in the active OS. Doing a true Hard Reset will restore all files from ROM and correct any corrupt ones. You will lose all settings and contact information so have them backed up or accessible. Also, you may want to remove your microSD before you hard reset.
Good Luck and report back

Sorry, I should have said i DID do a proper hard reset (hold buttons down, restart, software reinstalls on a bare phone), and still problems with bluetooth. AND, incidentially, WIFI! This evening I'm going to try throwing it against a wall (joking). Thanks for helping though

You got a bad device. It happens. If you are satisfied with what the device offers, exchange it for another.
it's true that it's too slow to search a name in all database !
I had a QTek 9090 also cadenced to 400Mhz during nearly 2 years, and I used to search a name not only in contacts but using the "search" tool in all the datas and with the same database of almost 3000 contacts + calender over 1000 entries, with the QTek it took only a few seconds, here on the TC (and I used also before a TYTN it was the same problem : very slow),it takes more than 1 minute ! It is so slow that the screenlight turns off before it has found !! It is really boring and not easy to use: I have to go in contacts and type the name or surname, then it is much faster....BUT if I want to find a keyword I put in the notes of my contacts, the only way is to use the search tool and it is REAL too slow !
What do you guys, testers, think about this ? The QTek had the same processor speed, half less RAM and ROM but maybe it consumed more energy, more power, maybe the battery lasted less time, but ok, I prefer to charge my battery more often and to have a fast PDA . I cannot wait so long to search an item !!!
try to exchange you device for a new one and you will be a happy chap
Cedel: The 9090 (Qtek = HTC) has an Intel CPU I owned a Qtek S110 (also Intel) and it was in fact very fast. But comparing raw CPU speed in this case is not correct. I'm pretty sure Intel uses a completely different architecture. There are IMO several reasons for HTC dropping Intel from their phones:
1. Cost - Intel have never been a cost effective solution and I strongly suspect that they are at least 30% more expensive.
2. Battery - A 9090 or S110 would not live though the day with GPS, 128 MB DDR RAM and all the other features you now have I can confirm this from an iPAQ 316 I tested recently. 2 hours @battery power was it's maximum!

Good point!
The registry hack is the one to increase screen sensitivity posted elsewhere - screen still needed a couple of prods to work.
Any case, I've sent it off to HTC with my list of complaints - let's see what they send back...
yeah i've tried that...didn't do much difference

I have recently sent me touch dual back to HTC twice- the first time they said they replaced the mainboard but when I got it back it still had problems, the second time they said they couldnt find any issues with it and reflashed the rom and sent it back- they were unhelpful and unapologetic. Was thinking of sending in a written complaint as I never had any problems with my wizard or TYTN but I honestly dont think it will achieve anything.
I was thinking of getting rid of it and getting a touch cruise but it seems to have just as many problems. I think its windows mobile that is the weak link here.

What problems are those? Aside from lack of graphics drivers, the device performs as I expect.
Well, I got my device back from HTC. Appart from the fact the screen glows in the bottom left corner (though not really visible once the screen is bright), they seem to have improved it. In the sense that it's not totally broken. So bluetooth and WIFI work again, which, frankly, they should for this much money.
The TC is still a slow phone with pretty terrible usability. But even with a faster processor, the usability would be terrible. So, I dunno, I'm stuck with it for the moment.
madinga, i really understand you. It's a ****ed up device! I bought it for $1000 and for such money it freezes, doesn't wakeup on power push, and got a very bad performance. I wanna throw it to the wall!! ****
Well I like mine...
But it's not a massive improvement over the original Orbit. The Touch interface is loads better though, I'd miss that if I went back to the Orbit.
A proper VGA screen in it would be great though, since it would make it a lot more possible/easier to use to read PDF novels etc. Currently you can't have the entire page of a book full screen and the text still be readable. A higher DPI would sort that out.

Send it back again and demand a new device tell them this is a clearly DOE/RMA Case
they have to give you a new Device.

10 Min For Cube To Load
It took 10 mins for the cube to open. During that time, it locked my PDA. I've been disappointed in this and all the bugs with the Word Completion and returned it as a manufacturer defect.
In all the years prior to now, I cannot believe the processors currently out there have not advanced in speed.

[Q] New Device Suggestions please!

Both my partner and I have Touch Pro 2's that have just become unbearable..
Even after hard resets and pretty much nothing on them - they are very slow, internet tethering is extremely painful (often says check USB connection when the USB is fine), send/receive is fickle (works when it likes), connecting to Internet Explorer takes about 30 seconds even to load Google home page (even if 4 bars of reception)... The camera takes up to 30 secs to take a pic even in good light and loads of free memory..
Meanwhile my partners TP2 is locked and the screen is unresponsive.. lets you type the pin and hit unlock but then nothing happens... so he cant even get into it. Have tried many options for this but have given up as all the software I find requires you to connect with Activesync which he can't do as it comes up locked!
and so we are both in the market for a new phone.. !!!!!!
I am set on Android as I haven't been able to use Activesync on my laptop for well over a year, due to Windows updates (that I have turned off - yet continue to install)..
Whenever I Activesync it deletes all my contacts and calendar and then stops working.. after much research its a known issue and there is no resolution (sighs)... which has pretty much immobilised my phone backup... and i am so over it.
We have recently gone back to our Tytn II's in the mean time - just until we can decide... and have noticed all the features that we loved when we first got our Tytn's.. Everything happens fast! copy and paste on first click (no need to Make selection)! customisable! no Telstra bloatware.. true GPS with Copilot.. direct contact access.. not that stupid interface where you have to click on "more" to add all the contact info.. etc etc.
Phone must be 850Mhz capable as due to our location we have to be with Telstra to get any reception.
Am looking forward to your suggestions please!
Required is at least 5mp camera with flash (and pref lense cover). GPS and mapping software (true GPS preferred not internet dependent).
Thanks in advance

well, if you are looking for android..Samsung Galaxy S will be quite good, and the price have been slightly lower now..
If you go Galaxy S (which I really don't recommend), avoid Verizon's Fascinate at all costs.

Em, why did you did not recommend Galaxy S??Its quite a good phone actually, although its been quite old...of course new devices are becoming better and better(for a higher price tag of course), but i do think the device is still worth by its recent cost...
But the Galaxy S doesn't have a flash
Next phone must have a flash! Tired of carrying an Olympus around for low-light shots!
Thanks for the suggestion though..
I just wish the Desire Z would work on the Next G network here in Australia (sighs)...

[Q] buggy Focus... anyone else?

Hi all, my Focus was doing some weird things, including sporadic reception issues, so I went to an ATT warranty center and got it replaced. Unfortunately, this phone has the same issues AND more.
First of all, about half the time, if I go somewhere with NO reception, and then enter an area with reception, it won't find reception without turning the phone off and on, even if I toggle the data network in the settings. This is especially annoying because my office has no reception in the cafeteria/main entrance, yet my cubicle does. My old phone did not do this.
Second, on my first Focus, I picked a SMS sound on day one, after a few months, I changed it to something else. about 15% of the time, it would play the original sound, then immediately play the second one... Well this phone is doing the SAME thing, but I've only used one SMS tone. I find this especially puzzling.
Third, this phone occasionally won't flip from horizontal to vertical and vice versa. It seems like whatever mechanism tells the phone the way it's oriented is broken.
Fourth, yesterday, my phone went from a 100% charge to 0% and a warning that it was critically low. I took the battery out multiple times, and when it was plugged it, it would show that it was charging, but then not gain anywhere on the status meter. After pulling the battery for like the 10th time, it came up as 100%.
Has anyone else experienced any bugs like this?
This will be the 4th time I've gone into the ATT warranty center... I am the type who is always rational and polite, but this is getting annoying. I hope ATT gives me a credit or something. I wish I could get a NEW phone and not a warranty replacement refurb that is clearly not working like it should.
I've never experienced anything like what you're talking about. As far as orientation not switching, it does happen if say I take a picture in landscape mode, then MMS the picture to someone and turn the phone upright as I enter the message.

I get that too, but I'm talking about IE and other instances. Guess I should have mentioned that.
Thanks for weighing in!
never also with my focus....what u do to urs jw lol
I have the same reception problem. Everytime I go into my gym I lose AT&T and have to reboot. It started happening the minute I did the March Update.
For everything it fixed it broke something else for me.
I think your issues are hardware flaws, rather than software bugs...just change to another device.I think they should allow you to do so as long as the value of the plan is equal.

Hi, I don't have a focus but have noticed this on my HTC Mozart so am wondering if it could be a software bug?
My phone seems to either pick a SMS tone at random, play 2, one after the other, or not play one at all depending how its feeling that day and depending if I'm using the phone when a message comes in lol!

I've noticed that with mine (HTC Arrive) it plays the 10th ringtone by default whenever the phone is facing up or flipped over. But when it's flipped over and the first ringtone plays then you flip it over, the screen lights up and then the second ringtone plays (I think its ringtone 5). Weird...
Well, the warranty center swapped out my Focus. I told them it had "a reception issue," but did not explain what it was, and then told about how the phone screen was not rotating depending on how it was oriented. Guy went into the back, presumably to check out the issue, and he came back saying that he confirmed it was not rotating properly, so he gave me a new one. He didn't even care to hear about the other issues. I've been into the warranty store multiple times in the last two weeks, and every time they've said that the Focus is not typically a phone that comes in with issues... so we'll see what happens.
Of note, the guy who gave me a new phone did not set it up properly, so data was not working. I had to call customer service to get my IMEI number updated. I politely explained how much of a hassle this has been and was given a $25 credit on my account.
I'm back at my cubicle at work, so I've gone through the basement with no reception, and it was able to find the network on its own when I got out of the dead zone... hopefully that means this phone is working properly.
However, I am moving to a new house in mid June, and I am 99% sure the house is in a dead spot... urg. If it's as bad as I figure it will be, I guess I'll see if AT&T will give me a free microcell AND free service for it; otherwise, I'll have to switch to Verizon.
Thanks for weighing in everyone. It seems like there is some sort of ringer issue because others are reporting it too.
I have the reception issue too, have to reboot the phone to fix it however, I haven't experienced any of your other issues (samsung focus here)
Maybe they are giving you your old phone (refurbished) and u just keep getting the same phone over and over again. (doubt it, but you never know)

[Q] Mango Data Problems

Didn't seem to have this problem when I first put Mango on but now it seems to be happening everyday. What's basically happening is my data connection just seems to disappear. 3G shows fine and SMS's come through, but I can't get on the internet, Twitter or Facebook at all.
The only way of fixing it is to pull the battery for a few seconds and then boot it back up. Flight mode doesn't fix it, nor does trying to change the carrier.
Anyone else had the same issue? Can see myself going back to NoDo unfortunately
Same issues here. Everytime the phone goes to 3G (or even G) it seems to loose data connection. Means no browsing, no bing maps, no syncing whatsoever...the same thing happened to me with NoDo, so I'm going to stay with Mango beta. Switching to flight mode and back usually fixes the conncetion though.
Reverted back to NoDo and data seems to be fine again (fingers crossed). It started to get worse, to the point where I'd only be able to get data for a few hours before needing to pull the battery.

I had this on mine. Worked out that you have to select your phone provider's network explicitly in 'Settings' - Cellular' or 'Mobile Network' (if in Europe). If you use 'Automatic', it looses the data connection quite a lot...
Hope this helps!!!!
Just updated to Mango a week ago - Official via Zune.
Hadn't noticed it till today but I went on a long trip today and saw that after 20 mins or so my emails had stopped syncing. Only thing to get the connection back was a soft reset.
Seems after an hour or so it drops the data connection, and even though it is displaying a G/E/3G/H the connection isn't actually active.
This is a major issue... I can't be resetting my phone every hour!
I wonder if it is an issue with the roaming switch between Orange and T-Mobile because from what i've read it only really seems to be happening to people on Orange or T-mobile with the Omnia 7.
Another reason this is going to be my first and last Samsung device! Roll on Nokia.
Upgraded to official Mango and still getting the same problem, needing to pull the battery and boot it back up to get data running again.
Will try geddeeee's suggestion.

I tried this but it didn't seem to help. I'd be curious to see if it fixed the problem for you though.
I now know of at least 4 people on Orange with the Omnia 7 now suffering this problem.
Nope, doesn't work. This is ridiculous and kinda makes the phone useless as a smartphone if it keeps losing its data connection every hour. Not very happy at all.

Likewise. It renders the phone more or less useless. May as well have a dumb phone.
I hard reset mine 2 days ago and haven't installed or changed anything on it yet to see if it happens. I haven't been to an area where i'd lose reception yet though so i'll see if it helps.
As an aside some other problems i was having with mango have been solved with a hard reset. Improved battery life, voice to text is putting punctuation in properly now (before it would put spaces like "don ' t"). My lock screen doesn't have lag displaying the time and calendar info any more. That's what i've noticed so far at least.
May be worth trying as it seems that the update didn't seem to install properly for me.

After updating to mango mine was taking an age to boot up. sometimes as much as 2 minutes and it happened several times where it actually just froze completely with a black screen and just the battery indicator displaying.
I havent had a reason to reboot it yet so not sure if thats changed.
I was suffering the disappearing keyboard as well but so far touch wood. that hasn't happened yet either.
Well, tonight I went off for a run through the forest where i knew i would lose reception.
Sure enough when i got back to my car my data connection had died "email last update 39 minutes ago" or whatever.
Needed a soft-reset to get working again. So hard-resetting the phone hasn't solved this. I'm getting stupid battery level problems too, had this for a while now. When the phone is on it will show around 30% battery, after a soft reset it comes up with battery critically low.
Getting fed up with this now. If i return the phone I'm pretty sure that the same problem will be present as it's software related. All it means is my phone is more or less useless now.
Well I thought the hard reset had done the trick. Had emails coming through right up until I went to bed and turned on flight mode. Just trying to access data now and it's not working again.
Nokia's phone announcement and release can't come soon enough.

I was genuinely gutted when i saw it wasn't working. It lasted two days and I thought it was fixed too. I don't know if it may have made it slightly better though...
I'm due an upgrade the start of next year. Like you say it can't come soon enough. I really love the OS, Mango is great but it seems Samsung have managed to ruin it again.
Nokia for me for sure.
I'm convinced this is an issue between the Software and the Orange network. Something either Samsung or Orange should have picked up during the testing phase so I can't see a replacement device being any better.
I can either sell it and get around £160 or so towards a new phone, or change supplier. I could go back to GiffGaff but O2 doesn't give 3G in my workplace and the other suppliers are too expensive for what I'm after.
The problem waiting for Nokia's phone is that I'm not going to have the money to buy a brand new Nokia outright and I don't want to get tied into a 18/24 month contract as I'm quite happy on my 30-day rolling contract.
Decisions...

Tough call. There is always the possibility that a "Samsung Update" will be pushed out in the near future that could solve this. Between Nov 2010 and now i've had 5 updates to this phone so it's at a rate of around 1 every 2 months. And one of those was a firmware update only. It could be that it is simply a radio software issue and a new rev. could resolve it.
For my part i have insurance with Orange so they have already agreed to take the phone back and replace it. I know from past experience if i have the same fault with the phone 3 or 4 times they offer a different hand set in exchange. So conceivably if i keep sending them back i could get a Mozart or Radar i would guess.
The problem with that would be that i'd have to keep re-setting up new phones at a rate of around once a week and that's a whole world of hassle
Just out of interest, did your Omnia 7 have any Samsung apps prior to upgrading to Mango?
I've forced my Omnia 7 to upgrade to Mango via the Zune trick so I'm not sure I'll get any Samsung updates as I'm using a stock Microsoft rom as opposed to a Samsung version. Samsung haven't even released their version of Mango yet, have they?

Well mine wasn't forced - i updated when zune prompted me to. I did have some Samsung stuff installed prior. Now app is broken but that's affecting everyone.
When i hard reset none of them were pre-installed though.
Out of interest has your device been working better in any way since hard resetting like mine has?

It kinda feels like it is actually running better, to be honest. Internet (when it works) seems to draw the pages quicker as well as loading quicker, it feels smoother between transitions of apps so I think the hard reset has helped to some degree.
I've also got a "Help+How-to" app on there which I didn't have before the hard reset.
It'd be nice to have constant data access though I'm not holding out much hope for any updates to the OS from Samsung or Orange to fix anything up either.

I'd noticed that Help and How to app as well.
Yeh I'm not really hopeful One question... are you signed up for Orange's Everything Everywhere thing? IE does your phone occasionaly switch to Orange-T-Mobile ?

[Q] Anyone else with these issues?

I've had an iPhone for the past 5 years.
I decided to take the plunge & buy an android yesterday.
I purchased the AT&T HTC One XL.
This is my experience so far:
1) Audio -- while listening to music, opening another app sometimes either crashes the player or momentarily fragments the sound.
2) Connectivity (in NYC using the 4G LTE network) -- very patchy. Seems to go in and out, even though I've never had these issues in the same area on the 3G network. Don't know if this is a network issue, or just a phone connectivity issue overall. Pandora constantly goes 'in and out'.
3) Seems like there is no caching (anywhere):
a) Opening a web site, briefly checking my mail, and then switching back to the website, makes the website reload.
b) Conversely, opening, e..g, my mail, going to the web browser, and then going back to my mail, makes my mail reload.
For a phone with 1GB of RAM, I don't anticipate this issue -- my iPhone 4 with half the ram was able to keep many more apps and browser tabs in memory for extended periods of time.
Is anyone else experiencing these issues?
Do I have a faulty phone?
Are any of these 'issues' just the way the android OS works? (like said, i've never used android before, so i have no clue.!)
Will a future software update fix them?
I'm very much contemplating returning this device and reviving my iphone 4;
but I don't want to if i don't have to -- android allows everyone I wish the iphone would.
Thanks you.
I haven't had any of the issues you are mentioning. I used my music player for an hour while mowing the grass tonight. As far as the 4G LTE goes, I can't comment on that since I don't have it where I live.
When your music was messing up, where you using the music app or google music player? I would try the other just to see if that issue is with both.
Other than that, I would swap the phone out as you may have just got a bad one.
I take it you have the ATT ONe X?
I just got my ATT One X today, so I haven't fully put it through the tests, but I did have an Unlocked Euro One X about a month ago that had quite a few bugs. One was the sound issue you mentioned. When I played music thru any music player the sound broke up when you hit a hardwear button or sometimes just on its own.

She give you an ETA by any chance?
#2 pisses me off the most. No one else has this issue?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Got mine yesterday and having only the issue with wifi signal and 4g signal showing. Lte is lightning fast where I am. I've been able to listen to music through my car speakers, take phone calls and text at the same time.
No eta and she shuddered a lot like she wanted to say an eta but the manager that was also talking stopped her I think lol. And it does work fine in the car it's when your using the built in speaker and doing other stuff . It's an intermittent issue
I am having issue number 3. My original iphone multitasked better than my one x is right now. Web pages always reload when I go back to them no matter the browser. Heck almost every app reloads.
Here's the number I called fyi
8664498358
For your nyc issue. You wouldn't happen to me walking would you? It might be connecting to Starbucks WiFi which can't be disable if WiFi is on. This was happening to me

Yes #2 is a HUGE issue for me. To the point (as expressed in another thread) that I'm ready to return it altogether and just keep my Sprint contract alive afterall for their EVO 4G LTE...Despite the fact I won't have 4G, at least I know their network is up consistently and is reliable!
I talked to a nice lady on the phone just now and she said this was the first time she had a call from a subscriber with a One X...So she hasn't heard anything. Just not enough data and time. She looked at some notes and AT&T does have the WiFi issue flagged in their system. I told her yes I was experiencing that one too. It's an issue when coming out of WiFi your data doesn't connect.
She had me turn off my phone, she disconnected me from their network and then I came back on it. After I explained to her with the WiFi issue, I worked around it by turning all off and then airplane mode, she said, yes airplane mode does the same thing and will essentially reset your connection to their network. You may be assigned a different tower, IP, etc.
So you can try that. Turn everything all off. Then turn airplane mode on. Then off and then the mobile network back on. You'll see a notice saying "preparing SIM card" ...
However, despite all that. I still have constant connectivity issues. The phone will not stay connected for long periods of time. It is always bouncing between LTE, HSPA+ and simply not connected at all. There's a few apps that I go to update in the store and all their downloads fail because the phone will not stay connected long enough to download them.
WHEN the phone is connected, for those brief periods of time, the speeds are good. I've seen nearly 30Mbps download on LTE to a close test server and 5, 10, 23, etc. on test servers farther away. It's extremely fast. Unfortunately, the phone simply won't stay connected to their network rendering it just about useless for anything other than getting some e-mail messages as they are able to trickle in.
thanks
The connectivity issue is horrible on my phone. I don't even have any clue that it's gone bad until I try to send a text or make a call that refuses to go through. A reset used to fix my problem, but recently it became very very stubborn (many resets... thought I tried everything and was preparing to drive to the store) and then I tried the all radios off, airplane on, airplane off, mobile on and it finally fixed itself. very frustrating, but thanks for the tip. Not sure I'll be keeping this phone. My iPhone 3gs was overall far more reliable.

That's explains why you didn't experience the #1 issue, it's only when music player is on background you start/switch to another app.
I'm experiencing all the above, but after LG Nitro HD I'll take these issues ten fold without complains. This phone is awesome even these issues.
the caching one sucks!

I have #2 and #3.
I was going to give HTC till day 29 prior to returning it,, however, ive changed my mind. Taking back tomorrow morning. It frustrates me to no end for the following reasons in order of importance.
1. Battery Life- only 6-8 hours with maybe 1.5 hours screen time. Thought maybe I received a dud based upon the reports of others but,,,,
2. Multitasking- there is none. 3/4 of the memory is ate up with crap running which probably accounts for the lack of caching. Due to there being no multitasking, my old iphone, iphone 4s and lumia 900 wipe the floor with this unit. It actually reminds me of the old galaxy S in terms of performance.
3. messaging- no notification
4. email-Can only send one attachment at a time.
5. email, cant click links, must copy
6. email- when you move an email to a folder, you must do additional steps to get back to inbox
7. System- pretty much everything requires so many additional taps, it is counter intuitive
8. camera- not on par with iphone 4s or galaxy s2, however software is better. I really wonder if the compression settings are what is destroying the photos.
9. No Visual Voicemail- without downloading more crappy bloatware from ATT
I do love the screen, the Quadrant scores are outstanding but not indicative of the phones actual performance and usability. I was excited, now not so much at all. There are so many other things to list but numbers 1,2,3 pretty much negate the use of this phone. I also have the Lumia 900 and iphone 4S. And so far I am most impressed by the Lumia900. However, it's camera, well, stinks.
You're crazy bro. I just scanned 6 pages wirelessly from my WorkForce 545 with my HTC One and emailed them out directly...that was 6 attached files...
Battery is awesome, but you could drain it in a few hours depending on what you do...but the same goes for every other phone.
I mean, I'd seriously give the thing a factory reset and a good charge. Play with it some more... He'll, root it and use titanium backup to remove bloatware...
But eh up to you
