On a stock / rooted (pingpong) ATT branded S6? The 7/15 update claims to be updated for ATT variants. While the question of flash fire compatibility was brought up in the original thread I could not find a direct answer.
I'm willing to be the guinea pig and give it a try over the weekend (downloading now). Just checking to see if there's any knowledge here to work from.

Bhundven was able to confirm that the phones are [almost] identical with a few small differences and that flashing ROMs for the 959V should be safe. Again, read the thread for more detailed information.
Pay close attention to this warning though: "If the rom contains bootloaders, please DO NOT flash them until we can confirm there are no bootloader differences."
As FBis251 said later, "TLDR: Don't flash bootloaders if the ROM contains bootloaders. No CWM roms contain bootloaders, a lot of heimdall/odin roms contain bootloaders."

If the phone come with gingerbread installed yes. You just have to be very careful. The bootloaders we have are for the T-mobile version. So if you foul up and need to flash back to stock with bootloaders you are boned. However if you just want to flash a flavor of ics this can be done with the purple link in my signature. That will get you rooted with clockworkmod recovery then just flash one of the flavors of ics.
With all that said search is your friend, this information is posted in this subforum AND the general android forums. Our dev bhundven has a couple threads on how to do this.

I've asked people if they have the stock leaked rom for t959w to PM me, and no one has.
Someone also offered to try flashing t959v bootloaders, but never got back to me. My guess is that either it worked great and he is quietly rockin some rom in the dev forum, or it bricked his device and he didn't know what to do with it.
If someone has a t959w they are replacing, I'd like to try my hand at applying AdamOutler's unbrickable mod and experimenting with bootloaders on that device.
There is also the t959p, which is the telus galaxy s 4g.
This phone is different then the t959v or t959w. It has cg2900 gps, where as we have a-gps and there are a few other differences.
The same goes there. If someone has a t959p, I'd like to try the same.
Thanks everyone. I normally search, I was just in a rush as I was getting a new phone this morn and it was between the S 4G or the Q with the slide out keyboard, but it seems no one decided to do anything on the Q, so I went for the S 4G. I'll do lots of reading before I decide to flash or not, I just like having the option.
I have a VZW Samsung GS3. I have MOAR v5.0 w/Morphology installed on my phone. I saw that a newer version has just been released (V6.0). I can't find anywhere any restrictions as to what carrier the version is applied to. Basically, I saw in the forum heading relating to Sprint (why I was directed there, I don't know). Can I use the v6.0 on my verizon GS3?? Thanks for your help.

Hi,
This is my first post on the forums, and I was redirected to post in general after trying to reply in the developer's section.
There are a ton of ROMs available for the HTC M8 already, and unlocking / S-offing so straightforward, so much so that I'm a little confused as to the different varities and limitations of ROMs.
AFAIK, there are three types of retail phones one can purchase... a contract phone (VZW, for example), a DE (Developer Edition) phone, or a GPE (Google Play Edition) phone.
When I unlocked my VZW phone, it was because I wanted to get my hands on a developer edition ROM, so that I could a) get rid of the Verizon bloatware, b) receive OTA updates at HTC's discretion and timing, c) keep all the HTC components intact.
After installing the stock HTC ROM, my data connection would no longer work - I suspect because the ROM was from a GSM package.
There appears to be a ROM available with all the VZW crap removed, but that doesn't seem to be a true Developer Edition ROM ... just a pruned VZW one.
Does anyone know if there is a ROM out there that is:
1 - based off the actual stock HTC Developer Edition phone? It would be ideal if HTC's OTA updated were included.
2 - functional on Verizon's network (CDMA)?
Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!
Greetings,
Please post questions in Q&A.
Thread moved.
Thank You,

Unfortunately Verizon is different than most carriers. Verizon, wants you to use their phones for their network . I am not sure if any phones not branded verizon werk on verizon. I didn't get the developers edition because it wasn't going to work very well if at all on verizon. Just root and debloat flash a custom ROM, and you will be set. make a backup and go at it.
Good morning everyone. I have tried looking through both these forums as well as a google search and can't seem to find an answer.
So my phone is rooted/s off custom Rom etc. My phone originally was a vzw phone used with Verizon as my service provider. I've since switched carriers and am using my phone with cricket being my service provider. Everything works, and works ok. I've been running a venom Rom and truly do love the Rom. But with lollipop being out there, it is time to upgrade. my phone says I'm running 4.4.2. Everything I've read seems that I have to upgrade my firmware as well, which is based off of the build number if I'm correct in what I read. my question I guess is do I continue to use Verizon based roms etc or do I use any variant of it. I guess I'm just seeking some what of a direction to head in. I apologize in advance if it's a stupid question. I've attached a copy of my build number in case that helps. Thank you so much, not only for your time, but any help available. Have a great day everyone

You need to flash Verizon fimware and use Verizon based roms.

PS:- Please do not post questions in dev sections. We do have a separate sections for Q and A. Maybe PM the mods to move your thread.
I've had this phone rooted for a while now, and I've decided I'd like to install a custom rom if possible. CyanogenMod is the name I see tossed around the most often, so that is what I figured I'd look into. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry but the bootloader has not been unlockable yet by any devs for the AT&T version of the V10. If you have the European version or the T-Mobile version you can unlock the bootloader, however. There is a tiny glimmer of hope yet to come if you don't have the Euro or TM versions.
A 9-year-old bug called the "Dirty Cow" exploit still exists in the Linux/Android kernel can easily grant root on any Android phone!!! See the video below.
http://www.xda-developers.com/9-year...on-of-android/
So there's another bug to exploit for root and even possibly unlocking the bootloader! The bug has been fixed recently in Linux but hasn't been rolled into Android yet. If anyone can get this working on my AT&T LG V10 (running Marshmallow) I'll give a reward of $50! Plus you'll be my hero! Now get crackin!
Not sure about Cyanogenmod but I found this weblink that refers to it bing possible to install roms.
