It would appear that the Bluetooth Icon in the Notification bar is always active. The only device that the S6 is paired with is our 2013 Ford Taurus. So unless in the car it shouldn't be. Any thoughts?

The icon is there even when turned off?
If I turn off Bluetooth the icon is gone. I thought that when Bluetooth is enabled, like WiFi, that the icon would always be there and then light up when connected.

When it's connected "arrows" show up on both sides of the icon.

Ah ha. Maybe something new with 5.0 or Samsung. Doesn't work that way on my Moto Droid Turbo. Thanks!

There is only one Bluetooth status bar png file. On or off, off being no image at all.

Since this phone has the biggest notification led ever, it is distracting when I am sleeping. I thought that turning background data off with SmartActions, or data sync off with Power Toggles would help. Neither has worked and I'm still getting notifications in the middle of the night. The only way to make sure its off is to turn off wifi and I don't want to do this because I want to get updates when I wake up. I have a case on so flipping over the phone doesn't really help. Is there another way?
Wow you must be a light sleeper!

Yeah it's annoying. If I didn't use the phone for an alarm or need it for work, I'd probably just turn it off when sleeping.

But what notifications are you getting?
I mean, what app are doing this?
Check this, works great for me.

Running VERY well on my KitKat rooted Maxx, but I have a new icon showing up somewhat randomly. It's white/grey, upside down teardrop with a blackdot in it. Warren Robinet couldn't help me (obscure 'dot' reference humor)
fat-fingered and Maxx-ed out.
Isn't that a location pin, like you would see on Google Maps? I took this symbol to mean that the GPS was on, and active, when this little location pin appears
Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Yeah, pretty sure it's the new icon for active GPS.
Yes that's the new icon indication for active Gps instead of the blinking dot.
Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
I just saw the same icon but it was a Google Now notification. Had nothing to do with Location because it was about my favorite football team on the opposite side of the country from me.

It's the active Gps notification. Google now does occasionally trigger it to check where you're at for weather/sports/nearby events/etc. Open maps. It'll stay there permanently til you exit.

In the US English yes, no other version yet (unless you go custom and hack it yourself)
Everything is ON now and setting in US English too but saying the magic words won't wake up the phone. Any other idea?

If the mic icon in the search bar is an outline it's not working, if it's a solid icon then it should be working

Ok Google only works from the home screen on 4.4.x versions of android, the moto x has a special always listening function built by moto as well a chip that has low battery usages that allows for the active listening function anytime. Its probably possible for the nexus 5 to do the same but it would drain the $h1t out of the battery.
In moto x it called the "active display".. In which the phone always listening thru its mic. If somehow our nexus 5 can have this feature would be awesome..
Sent from my Nexus 5 via XDA Premium HD
No, this is not possible as we do not have the same chipset as the Moto X.
utter! has "always listening even when screen is off" functionality (and much more).

Active Display is actually a notification feature that shows you what notifications you have while you're screen is off. It powers on your screen while you're phone is locked to show you notifications periodically. This feature was developed for the amoled screen that the moto x has since that type of display can light up individual pixels and not the whole screen to save battery. But active display has been ported by a few different custom roms now like Omni.

Without installing an App with the "always listening" feature it is not possible.
There are Apps for that.
Open Mic+ is a good one. Use it myself.
does the Moto G have LEDs on the exterior to let user know when charging is done?
thanks!
An xposed module especially for the moto g can make the Moto G act that way with its notification LED

I have a Verizon Moto G and I just installed LightFlow app.
Now the LED notification light works great!
Thanks!
I think that they're talking about my app : MotoGuide.
An app made for our Moto-G which also handles the charging LED.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49093058#post49093058
Root isn't required. Many of the led apps on Google play can do what you require.
I installed lightflow and I set the led notification for done charging but it didn't effect at all.
Any idea on this?
Sent from my XT1033 using Tapatalk
There are several ways to get the charging led, but I think all use the same method. Writing whatever option you want into the "/sys/class/leds/charging/trigger"
Code:
echo battery-charging > /sys/class/leds/charging/trigger
You can do by using Kameo's xposed module (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2596525)
With my "MotoFloatingCharge" tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601628)
Or manually from a shell.
You can use Tasker too and set the context to "Event / Power / Battery Full" and task "Notify LED". No root necessary.
Lightflow does it.
and tasker is a paid app...

and yet, IMHO it's the best money you'll ever spend on an app.
I agree since i've bought it (one of the few *big* apps i bought alongside SwiftKey).
I was going to suggest going the tasker route but figured I'd try it first. The notification came through when it was charged but the led didn't, I'm not sure why.

I think many users would love to have a stock based rom that has most of the moto x great features, such as active notifications, flick wrist camera gesture, always on voice commands. Any dev here looking for a challenge?
It's not possible without GREAT battery drain.

Not just the voice commands, Active Display is meant for AMOLED screens as they are able to keep black pixels turned off, saving a of battery. The screen on the Moto G would require to completely lit up even on a black background. That pretty much defeats the concept of AD, imo.

Droid mini has active display and it has an lcd screen just like the moto g, doesn't noticeably drain battery.

I wasn't aware of this. You're absolutely right, the Droid Mini does have Active Display.
After googling a bit, though, it seems that the Droid Mini's AD works a little different than the X's; it makes use of other sensors to turn the screen on based on the user's proximity.
We seem to be looking in the wrong direction with this Active Display thingy
