Stuck in Bootloader - HTC One Mini

Hi apologies if been asked many times but going to ask again.
My sons HTC One Mini is looping on the bootloader.
Cannot do a factory reset either, any options just loop back.
I spoke to HTC who said I could send back but if there was any damage they would charge.
Its got a couple of cracks in the plastic casing so guess thats enough for them to charge.
Before I decide is there anything I can do to sort myself without invalidating any warranty etc? (its still under contract)
Thanks in advance

unlocking bootloader "will" void Warranty, but here are some ways to get back to a clean state.
But the easiest and safest thing would be to apply a RUU if you can find one for your device.
Try "HTC One Mini - Stock ROM wiederherstellen via RUU" in google, it is in German.

Phone contract is with EE, Closest thing I can find is an Orange download it has the same version number 4.15.61.1, is this the same?
Went to http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads

Your bootloader is locked in that image. Did you ever unlock it? If the answer is no, then you should be good to go as far as warranty.
As for the cracks, if they're the hairline ones that appear on the sides, you shouldn't have any issues. That's a known problem with this phone. HTC will probably just swap the phone out because of them.

I am having the same problem, only mine is out of warranty.
i have a video of what it does, i can't run any ruu
since i can't post any vids search youtube " HTC ONE MINI NO BOOT
Part one
Part Two
any help would be great, Thanks

SO NOTHING ?????????????

put your phone to ruu mode and try manually flash the zip you get from the executed ruu out of the temporary directory.
you tube video "Flash an HTC firmware zip" this might work not sure with s-on, you can also unlock your bootloader and install a recovery and custom rom

Same thing too
I am also having the same problem. My phone came with the stupid OTA Sprint release and has the most recent updates. I don't think that is the problem, but I have been trying the same thing you have and getting the same results.
As soon as you use command "fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin" your phone is supposed to go to the bootloader unlock screen from HTC.....nothing....just sits there all stupid and SH**
The solution.....worked for me!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239821
fix?
I have the same problem and I have tried it in OS X and windows has any one found a solution
after many hours of searching, i found the answer...
ok what you do is download this RUU and follow instructions VERY CAREFULLY, i think it rolls back your firmware, then you start HTCs bootloader unlock tool from the beginning and it your phone should ask you at the end if you really want to unlock your bootloader. tell it yes and your all good ...until you try to root the phone. then, at least for me, youll have more of the same problems you ran into with unlocking bootloader. i mean you follow instructions word for word but in the end, nothing happens. i should have had root because i have superuser installed with updated binary and busybox is also installed as well, but i was only able to install synergy rom, which gave me a wifi error. ive searched for how youre supposed to fix this, and it says im supposed to use flash image gui program. so i bought it from the market and installed it. i opened it, it asked me for superuser permission, i granted, then it tells me it was "unable to gain root access this program will not work". I HATE THIS PHONE MORE AND MORE EVERYDAY, i miss my awesome evo4g that was rooted, s-off, free hotspot and CM7!
see this thread to fix bootloader unlock problem:

2.08.651.2 RUU
http://www.multiupload.com/09NOXKCUN0
Is that ruu the zip or exe
So did this work?
I downloaded the RUU it was a EXE file to upgrade the EVO 3d firmware but it was the same firmware i have on it now. should I still do it?
token issue
My issue is that i get to where you download the unlock code and my computer tried to open it with vlc. Now i can't get it to actually unlock. Any suggestions ?
very first time trying. So flame away
Also in the same boat.
Everything goes smooth on HTC Website ,CMD says unlock token sent successfully but instructions never shows up on the phone.
Ive tried RUU 2.08.651.2 as recommended along with a few others, all of which fail saying Bootloader Version Error.
Any ideas? Would love to have my Evo3D this rooted, even if its still S-ON HTC Unlock Method!!!
Thanks

[Q]supercid problem

Hey, All
I was successful unlock , root following this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583427
Then I'm trying to install this RUU , RUU_Ville_U_Rogers_WWE_1.70.631.1
this step always get device id error,
so I back to stock recovery, modify CID form "HTC__203" to "11111111", and relock with following this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674202
Yes, finally "RUU_Ville_U_Rogers_WWE_1.70.631.1" installed, all function works.
Now, I have a problem , I'm trying to unlock again, so i using "faseboot oem get_identifier_token", and paste id to htcdev step 11, and get a new "Unlock_code.bin"
when I using this "Unlock_code.bin" to unlock my device, everything seems normal, but when I reboot, the device still display RELOCKED
any suggestion?

Well it's still gonna show relocked if that's what your talking about bcuz you unlocked it then relocked so it isn't gonna show tampered with unlocked at the bottom that's only for the first time you unlock it that it says tampered with unlocked at the bottom, but if you unlock it again it's just gonna say relocked not unlocked. Hopefully this answers your question.

Yea that is strange but I don't think it would be considered a problem unless you have the phone stuck in Bootloop or something strange is going on with the phone like apps.not working or battery draining fast. I can see what your worried about and it is strange but I wouldn't worry too much about it but you should look up somewhere in the forums about that but I wouldn't know much about the international version I'm on the US version. Good luck with your problem

seems I need to wait someone can S-OFF this device
superCID can install any RUU, but can't unlock, root, install custom ROM without S-OFF
I've managed to change my cid and install a new Rom then unlock it and root so it's possible
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
the other reason maybe user just can unlock/relock limited times. ?
does any one change CID and unlock/relock over 3 times ?
I've relocked about 4 time's now changed cid once
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
My default cid is HTC_203, i changed to HTC__102, HTC__001 and 11111111.
Everytime cid changed, I will lock/unlock again. When changed to 11111111, I can't unlock anymore.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
Mate, the CID is in the partition that gets summarized together with the other partitions when calculating the Unlock Token.
So, if you change this or any other relevant partition by for example changing the CID, you will invalidate your old unlock token.
After changing CID, please re-lock bootloader, then go "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" and go to HTC-Dev and unlock again.
After that, you can proceed with everything else as usual.
If you cannot unlock with CID 11111111 this is NOT normal. Everyone else can.
So either you did something wrong in the above process or you somehow half-bricked your phone.
Yes, everytime I changed cid, I got a new unlock code. if not, fastboot will give me error message during unlock process.
I think my situation is not normal, and I'm trying to find out why then fix it. Now, I still can install any RUU , if they have the same HBOOT version.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
I'd guess it's a half brick because if you can't unlock something is wrong. There is no unlock counter because no-one has had it yet. I've unlocked about four or five times now too and don't have that problem. You should consider sending it in for repair. As long as there's no S-OFF you'll have no chance to force an unlock I guess. If the security is as complex as on the HOX, it's likely the situation couldn't even be resolved by a jtag programmer or such.

Thanks, no one have the same question as me. I will try to call HTC service.
CID 11111111 Issue
Hello there,
I want to install an older RUU (actually installed is RUU_Ville_U_HTC_Europe_1.78.401.2_Radio_0.16.31501S.17_2_10.23.31501S.10L_release_258480_signed )
my intention is to downgrade the Basbeand Version with this Procedure to get rid of this "HomeButton-Jumparound-Whatever" Issue which occures when i am in GSM (2G) Mode.
when i get this phone brandnew there was no Problem, just after updating to 1.78 this ****** began.
When i changed my CID from HTC__102 to 11111111 the first time everything went fine and i was able to install every RUU
Now i tried to change my Radio to an older Version by install an older RUU, but it won't work no more, i allways get an Error 140 or 131.
if there is another method to change the radio version, I'd appreciate any council
relock Bootloader, turn off virus scanners, run ruu as admistrator, I've done of course
I would be grateful for any help
ERROR 140 : bootloader error
ERROR 131 : cid error
are you install T-MOBILE 1.84 RUU ?
this will chane HBOOT version from 1.08 to 1.09
if you can unlock, try to find some way change your HBOOT version back to 1.08.
then you can insall RUU_Ville_U_HTC_Europe_1.78.401.2.
RUU_Ville_U_HTC_Europe_1.78.401.2 can be installed only with the other it does not work
i've got HBOOT 1.13.000 (shown in bootloader)
i just want to downgrade the Radio..
edit: when try to install RUU_Ville_U_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.1_Radio_0.15.31501S.13_3_10.08.31501S.04L_release_250115_signed
or

i get Error 155
we have some thing different. but you are lucky then me. I just can install T-MOBILE 1.84 RUU, if I try to install another version. always got HBOOT version error
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.09.0000

(bootloader) version-main: 1.84.531.2

The HTC srevice center(tw) call back. they say they find some motherboard error on my device.
I don't think change cid and unlock will cause it happen.

You mix up software version (401) with CID.
You can check your CID with "Simple CID Getter" on the Play Store.

Hi everyone so customer didn't want the phone in the end as it couldn't be repaired so didnt bother returning to pick it up so like I do with all things I tinker and I've spent a long long time trying to fix the OS and I have finally done it yayyy scored myself a free U11,
So I dont know how it managed to work, because I had main version 2.33.710.9, and the package that actually worked to repair it and flashed was main version 1.11.710.5 or something like that, my bootloader was re locked and S-ON and nothing I tried would work phone had no recovery and would not boot all i would get is your device is corrupt, couldn't unlock the bootloader again all I would get is a message to state the 3 killswitches are active and to disable them but couldn't without a functional OS.
The 1.11.710.5 file I tried over the course since last post with normal fastboot didn't work, then I tried a series of htc_fastboot didnt work, I even used the fastboot binaries provided by HTCdev that didnt work, I tried every command I could rack up in my brain but still the body thing wouldnt flash I fixed roughly 6 RUU flash errors I was facing but the only one I couldn't get past was Ruu security fail zip from USB command, this told me it was something system wise, but had reinstalled everything including drivers gave all fastboots elevated privileges tried a million diff computers and cords ( lucky I run a phone shop hehehe )
Now something has completely slipped my mind I had a HTC 10 batch tool on my computer and had completely forgotten it had it's own terminal interafce, (which is a fully sik purple might I say) all I did was place the file into the path that the batch took was installed to which was com I do believe and then opened the batch tool up & typed " htc_fastboot oem rebootRUU" after i had put the device into download mode and connected device,
Device rebooted to RUU, all I did was type htc_fastboot flash zip <file_name> and it flashed all 28 zips from the 1.11.710.5 device rebooted and was now met with the HTC logo and phone booted straight up like nothing ever happened, once I had gotten the FRP lock removed (only took 5 minutes) not very good HTC lol I then went to the setting menu to software Info only to find out that the firmware was still 2.33.710.9 but the firmware file was specifically 1.11.710.5 as i had gotten it from the google spread sheet here on xda developers,
So there you have it everyone I hope this helps you repair your devices it seems it's all in the terminal used to flash the device as long as the file is also signed though I can't be 100% on that as I'm not sure the zip i used was signed either but anyway phone is working great and now it gets to be used and abused as a dev phone for myself

Congrats on getting the phone revived. I tried all what you had mentioned in your earlier post except what you mentioned about the "HTC 10 Batch Tool". Never heard of it until now. Well too bad for my phone as I sent it out to HTC Repair and it is in their hands now (3 weeks and counting). Yep, my mistake was relocking the phone when I wanted to receive the OTA update (phone was rooted but I didn't flash any custom ROM). Thanks for the post.

Hey mate yeah I spent weeks on end trying everything it seems the HTC 10 batchtool was the saviour here on xda somewhere as that's where I got it from the batch tool has it's own terminal built into it and it must still hold official HTC code in it somewhere to allow the package to be flashed,
Least you know for next time if it happens again to avoid that hefty repair bill by HTC

I was still S-ON and had Relocked BL OEM unlock was OFF due to no working OS ( was corrupt) no recovery, only download, bootloader and RUU mode,
the HTC fastboot batch tool allows rollback of the bootloader without paying $25 for sunshine off to do it, ive just seen this now to lol only took 3 months to reply
I actually made a post on how to fix any flash errors like that a while ago its in the HTC U11 forums 1.5k veiws and counting

Sorry man I doesn't have a htc 10 at I have at the moment u 11
Sent from my HTC U11 using XDA Labs
where do I download zip version of signed HTC ruu firmware?

I think I bricked my phone. Can't find a fix

I recently got this phone and found out it was an EU version. I unlocked the bootloader and installed twrp. I made the major mistake of thinking I needed to relock the bootloader to install a ruu file. I can't get to recovery now to factory reset. If I try to reboot, it goes to an encryption screen that I can't get past. So I can't go to settings and turn the unlock bootloader option on or debugging. So, I can't unlock the bootloader either.
I also made the mistake of changing the cid and mid to USA dev. The cid and mid are: BS_US001 and 2PZC50000. The product: htc_ocnuhl.
The US unlocked RUUs should work, right? Well, I try to use the. exe. It won't work. I try to do the fastboot way, it says the file size is too large. I try the SD card way, it says 19 RU_MAIN_VER_FAIL is version in android info missing or i.
Am I just totally screwed?

This is a shot in the dark but trying reflashing your unlocker token you received from HTC and see if that will reunlock your phone so you can refresh recovery
Won't let me. Can't get into the os to turn the oem unlock on in developer's settings. When I try it, it tells me:
Last Byte is 0x00, disable unlock.
oem unlock Turn Off!

Have you tried the proper htc_fastboot.exe?. You can find it easily on the forum. If that doesn't work can you get to download mode and change the cid and mid back to original?
Yeah, I've tried it. I've tried it with trying to get twrp to boot with, "fastboot boot twrp.img". No go there. I haven't tried to change the cid or mid back, but since I'm S-on now, I doubt I'll get very far. Temporary s-on. Just great. HTC really screwed me by making these changes. Four generations of phones work the same freaking way, but this one just had to be different.

Looked a bit on the forums and 19 ru_main_ver_fail can apparently mean wrong cid? Did you use the US ruu for the SD card method? Try the other (either your original cid or the US one) and see what happens?
EDIT: Also the output of fastboot getvar all would be helpful to debug

Yeah, I used the US ruu after changing the cid and mid for the US dev version. RUU_OCEAN_WHL_O80_SENSE90GP_MR_NA_Gen_Unlock_2.42.617.7.exe.
Tried 2.42.617.1 8 via sd card. RU_SIGNATURE_FAIL
I tried a few others too. No dice. Said wrong OS. I tried the one that came with the phone using the sd card, the EU version, 2.33.401.10, and it says RU_MODELID_FAIL modelid in android-info mismatched
This wouldn't be a problem if I was S-Off. The OS version on the phone now is 2.33.401.10. If I could change the cid and mid back, it would probably work.
I tried using HTC fastboot:
C:\Android>htc_fastboot flash zip 2PZCIMG.zip
sending 'zip'... (2020158 KB) FAILdata too large, 2068641866 > 1951232000

When in download mode u can flash install twrp recovery via adb then possibly flash a backup file, which hopefully u have or can get,,, or a rom. I have done this many times with a failed ruu install and it has worked.
Oh dear I think I see the issue. I don't see any RUUs for the US cid/mid that match the model htc_ocnuhl. I think you can only install an RUU that matches all three and it won't let you install a modified one because the signing will break
And now you can't get into s-off to change it again because the BL is locked. This looks bad...
There should be a warning somewhere about changing to cids your model doesn't support

Great. In past HTC phones, changing the cid and mid was enough. Now there's a third factor. Can you even change the model with s-off to install an official US RUU on a EU U11? Regardless, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I had no idea that relocking the bootloader would block any chance to load twrp. That wasn't the case on the past phones and now I can't even do a factory reset.
All I need to do is get into the OS to switch bootloader unlocking on. (why they did this to make it more tedious, I don't know.)
The biggest reason I've stuck with HTC is because of how easy it used to be to change regions and install any RUU.
I still get the 155 unknown error when using a RUU.exe. I'm guessing that's why.

The htc_* monikers seem to denote different hardware revisions. So probably different radios, partition layouts etc. You might have been able to change to EU unlocked but it probably can't figure out what to do with US firmware at all. Changing to super cid may have been a better option. This is genuinely a sucky situation though. Maybe there's a way out I don't know. Sorry about that.
EDIT: Are you sure you don't know the encryption password? Did you ever set one?

Thanks for trying to help. I can't see a way out either. I never set a password for that. I did for the lock screen but said no when it asked me if I wanted to use it upon boot. Besides that, I'm pretty sure it factory reset when I unlocked the bootloader. Wish I hadn't locked it right after. ?

One last resort. If it factory reset after unlock it might have a default password. I can vaguely remember something like that existing but can't seem to find it anywhere.

You can try" fastboot format userdata" .
You should be able to enter the system without password.
But You will lost all data(Include Internal storage)
I'm fine with losing any data. New phone and there's nothing I need to save on it. I just need to be able to access the OS so I can unlock the bootloader. I'll give it a shot.

I've been following your thread and was hoping it would have led me to a solution to my own dilemma that is similar to your predicament. I had a U11 that I unlocked via HTC Dev website and I wanted to "relock" to get the OTA update. I used a ADB command to relock the phone and the phone boots to a encryption screen which of course won't allow me to bypass. I spent hours looking for a IMG and RUU file that would get my phone back to working order. Used the SD card and ADB process and could not find any joy.
I just sent my phone to the HTC service department. I am hoping they won't make me pay dearly for my mistake. Good luck in resolving this issue. I just got my phone in April and now I am using my old M8 that won't hold a charge for 4 hours.
Live and learn.

Well, I think I know why the RUU.exe isn't working and I got the 155 unknown error. The os doesn't match. I'm guessing the os region needs to be the same, too, and since I can't seem to delete or format the os without unlocking the bootloader, the RUU won't work. [emoji58]

Yep, I tried all what you have done. No dice. Snake eyes. I was hoping to find the exact RUU version for my phone (2.42.617.6) but the I only could find the latest version which is on the HTCDev website. I am not able to get into recovery mode as the phone will give me the message that the phone is loaded with a different OS that it was originally installed. Dead end.
So after trying for over a week the same old steps and reading as much as I could on this and other websites, I knew there was no way I could figure this out or at the very least the phone was in a state beyond my abilities to repair. So my last resort was send it back to HTC. When I first was confronted with this issue I contacted HTC via chat. They were with me for an hour and a half explaining about getting into recovery mode and I explaining what was happening on the phone as we went into download mode and trying to get into recovery mode. Plus my typing skills isn't really proficient so it took time for me to compose and type. Ha! This initial contact with HTC and the start of the service process was on 1 September 2018. I have two weeks from the initial start of the process to send the phone back or I would have to initiate the process again. So this Monday I sent the phone in. The phone should be arriving in the Texas office tomorrow.
I posted this question on another thread and I'll just throw this out here also. If any member here knows or have had experience with HTC service department, what process do they go through to get the phone back to the original working order? Do they reflash the phone or do they actually need to physically replace a part in the phone to get it working again? My phone is still under warranty but I think bricking the phone is not covered even under their "Uh Oh" warranty. Any idea of the cost of repair? Aloha and mahalo.

HTC u12+ stuck in bootloader

Hi there I have played with my U12 dual sim and I did change cid and mid almost same way like in HTC u11+ forum https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-u11/development/to-modify-cid-mid-s-devices-t3771570 then I installed stock system vendor and boot for us unlocked everything goes well until system could not read sim card so I have tried go back to stock same way
So I change cid and mid and then I use adb to reboot in to bootloader to boot twrp and that's when after reset HTC go to bootloader and can't do anything

I didn't get a repair quote as of yet. I sent it in and they had received it last week Thursday and now it is in the repair queue when last checked. I've heard of horror stories about customer service and the repair department. Some members says their phones were not returned to them for months. When I chatted with the HTC rep on their website, the rep said it could cost up to $200 to repair (it is a HTC U11 unlocked version). So in the meantime, I am using my old HTC 10 which doesn't hold a charge and I ordered a new HTC 12+.
I should have done more research and figured out what I should have done correctly before trying to relock the phone. Live and learn.
Good luck.

I just had a reply from another member on the forum regarding his phone repair (HTC U11). He is in Sweden and it took less than a couple weeks for him to get his phone back from HTC repair center. The repair center is located in Poland and he had the phone repaired (motherboard replace) at no charge! Wow!
I would contact your HTC repair center if after all is said and done doesn't resolve your phone issues. You may be happy you did. Hoping for the best.
I had the same issue too, but if you were able to boot into fastboot you theoretically could still get the phone to boot. were any of you able to boot into download mode? if so you could have ./fastboot format userdata, ./fastboot erase boot, ./fastboot erase system. Then done a ./fastboot getvar all and see what slot you were on. With A/B partitions its important to have a boot img. and a system img. luckily I had both and in download mode I was able to ./fastboot flash the boot image then ./fastboot flash the system img to the current slot the phone was on. I was on slot b so I ./fastboot flash system_b <system img>. I did get a magi error when flashing with power shell but it did go through and crisis averted. It is very important you back up things as well as have extra images handy.
Hi there this is my second account
Yes I did try all of fastboot commends but with no luck as download mode is needed
I can't boot in to download or recovery whenever I try it reboot back to bootloader
I did try boot twrp boot I goes in to black screen
I have European dual sim but I converter to US one I have US ruu. Exe but won't work as my battery is below 30% I did charged with that bat file that allow you to charge phone while is restarting but still not enough my phone is charded to about 4320mV any one have idea what's it should be
Phone bootloader is unlocked but s-on
Thanks for any advice
It seems like there could be so much that could go wrong when trying to tweak these new phones now. It isn't straight forward as it was a few years ago. I've read through the guides on these forums but it seems like there is no straight forward positively fool proof and bullet proof method of rooting and reverting back to stock on these new phones.

You weren't able to access download mode? Mine would boot up then go to where you can select Reboot, power down, reboot download, reboot recovery, ect. Is that something still accessible?

Might want to convert it back to European dual sim. If you can find an RUU for it, captain throwback has a program that converts RUU to system img., boot img.
Yes I can choose all option in bootloader but will restart back to bootloader screen
I can't boot download mode or recovery I can't power down unless I disconnect USB cable
Ive booked repair with HTC but still wait if someone got any idea how to resolve it
I don't think any img file will help as I can't boot twrp or flash anything with fastboot
I can boot twrp but it goes black screen only
I can flash hosd with fastboot but that's all
Can any one run fastboot getvar battery-voltage and let me know what's mV is above 30% I got us ruu. Exe but won't flash because battery level
My battery shows around 4270mV at the minut
Thanks
guys, has anyone figured out this?
i'm stuck on the bootloader page, when i choose download or recovery it restat to bootloader again, flashed hosd from fastboot but no good!
i hope some one has any resolution, as we don't have htc service center here in middle east.
Same Probleme here, I've tried everything. I've never had such problems before. Working on this for months now. Here is the Thread I opened: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...mode-partition-failure.4197203/#post-84031727
What I can say so far:
We need a possibility to flash and repair boot partitions without DownloadMode, HTC has special cables which go into the MicroSD-Slot to connect the internal NandFlash to USB
I've bought XTC2Clip, but haven't found a working solution yet
On most phones there is a possibilty to get QPST running, if we would find one for the U12+ we might be lucky
I don't know any german oder english speaking forum with new informations, believe me I tried, BUT there might be forum in taiwanese, there is still a huge fanbase for htc, but I'm not able to search in this forums because of the different signs
I wish us both luck,
Greetings
i had same error and now waiting a resoluation from anyone ...........
anyone help me !!!

I'm still working on it, no solution so far. But what I know today is the following:
- the boot-partition is bricked, so if we try to boot downloadmode or to boot twrp.img, bootloader doesn't know where to put it. You could say the partition-layout isn't correct anymore
- it would be easy to repair, if we had acces. I've a complete emmc-dump from another U12+ here, with adb-shell you can restore complete partitions
- when htc produced this phone, there must have been a way to write these partitions for the first time, for other models there are deep-flash-cables and stuff, but the interest in the U12+ isn't that big anymore, so there is no solution so far
- don't buy XTC2Clip, it once was THE THING for htc models, but nothing works on our device anymore, if you still wan't one, I've one to sell
Nevertheless, have a nice day
Have you tried to enter RUU mode with htc-fastboot.exe?
