Hello all. So Android Systems is chewing my battery up. It goes from 12%-13%of overall usage. I can't tell which apps within the Android services area are responsible. I'm afraid to even use my phone for more than a quick text response or to see the time because the battery drains quick.
As you can see, my screen has been on only for about an hour the whole day. I keep it around 20%.
Use the pc version of wakelock detector , a bit cumbersome but at least it works. Android system is used by another app WLD will tell you which one

Hmm, alright. Is this app found in the play store?
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=wakelock+detector
Android system will use more battery than screen if you run your phone for 8 hours and only use the screen for an hour because the Android system is doing things in the background that is using more than the amount of battery you're burning on your screen. Also you're on 4G which will hit battery a lot.
This useage looks absolutely normal to me.

I am on mobile so finding the link is hard but you can find WLD in the play store and instructions for the pc version are in the description, you will find in right here on xda.

Since updating from 6.0.1 to 7.0 on my Nexus 6P I have realized that the task manager I used no longer works. I tried many other popular and non popular task manager apps on Nougat and none of them work. They all display something like "no running apps to display."
So obviously it seems in 7.0 Google updated whatever command is needed for an app to pull the running apps from the system, and no one has updated their task manager app to work with 7.0. I was pretty shocked that in the forums no topic with "task manager" was created with in the past 6 months to talk about this.
So are others people experiencing this with task managers on Nougat? If so, have you found any task manager app that works with Nougat?
Edit: sorry if this the wrong forum to post this, but I figured it applied here since it seem to be related to new API causing these types of apps to not work. Feel free to move it if this topic fits better somewhere else. Thanks!
Why would you use third party task mangers when you already have one built in Android?

Simple! Because ever since Android 5.0 the task manager only shows the average RAM usage. It does not currently show what's running in real time. Only shows the past 3 hour, 6 hour, 12 hour, or 1 day average. It shows apps that are not even running at that very second. That information can be helpful some but not for everything.
In Android 4.4 and earlier it used to show real time what apps were running. Just like on Windows computers task manager shows real time what's running. If an app starts running, it appears on the list. if an app stops running, it disappears from the list. This is helpful for finding a rogue app on your battery, or a rogue app slowing down your phone using a Ton of RAM. It is not as easy identifying a rogue app with averages. Especially if it's an app that's not running all the time in the back ground.

Does it also kill apps automatically? I dont want services running after i close the app, and i dont want to go to running services to do it everytime... Android should have that option lets call it dont allow background running or while screen off...

It won't kill apps automatically you can use Greenify for that or you can do it manually every time after you open the app again.
There are two ways
1. Go to app info and force stop it. (recommended)
2. Go to running services and stop it from there.
Once you open the app again all service will be restarted. The first option is easy and straight forward

I know man i was just trying to make a point about still needing task killers, look what permissions greenify needs to do that now: usage access, draw over apps, accessibility permission... Horrific permisions... Android even asked for my fingerprint when giving it accessibility permission and said it needs it cause of encryption...
If that was native in Android (no background running option per app) that would be great.
Might even partially fix poor ram managment in Android...

Hi, updating here to -1. Agree with posters above, built in is a pita to use.
My old task killer was click app, click kill, job done :good:
Also really useful to quickly see what was running right now and those naughty apps that restarted themselves
Someone must have a decent easy task killer for rooted Nougat
Updating again: Advanced Task Manager free is working just not the pro version I paid for. Looks like they care more about the ads than their paying users. Ok for me anyway. Rooted phones don't have ads
In Android 7.0 Google once again has made undocumented changes and has significantly restricted access to the proc file system. This means that since this new API level it is not possible anymore to retrieve processes info. Task Managers running on devices with Android 7.0 will only show total CPU usage, their own CPU usage and memory usage, but not CPU usage for other processes. Running the app on a rooted device does not make difference. More info on File system changes in Android Nougat - Stack Overflow. Star this Android issue to push Google to implement an alternative API.

Maybe a CPU/RAM monitor that should work in Nougat
I was looking for a CPU monitor before upgrading a TV-Box to Nougat and I found his thread in meantime it seem (I have not tested it) that "System Panel 2" should work with rooted device even with Nougat: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sp

I use like 150 apps installed in the phone.
Tried pie open beta(and also other custom roms) with kernels and other greenify apps but battery sticks with 5 to 6 screen on time.
I feel grateful if someone can help me getting the backup 7 or 7+.
I hear some guys are getting 8 and plus sot. I don't know how if everyone is using the same phone. I don't use phone for gaming. My usage involves with social media, YouTube, chats and 40 to 60 minutes using maps and gps.
Is it because of number of apps installed?
It's not about apps installed unless they keep the phone awake at all time, wish I don't think they do.
Unfortunately the best thing to do is just stop using social media lol.. Facebook and snapchat atleast.. Those apps are true battery killers.
If you feel like Facebook is really something you NEED in your life then skip the app and use the browser instead.
The other thing is making sure apps that you don't need notifications from is blocked from background usage in Battery, total usage, click the app you know you can block and select background usage, block
Last is managing the brightness, now there are times for full blast on the display and there is times for low light, don't let the screen blast your eyes if it's not needed to.

I use this... It's a pretty slick front-end for Facebook that uses little of the resources that the app does. It also let's you use messenger without installing it on mobile!

150 apps lol, how can you manage so much, I think just a simple browser can help you get rid of atleast 100 of them. I never understand the need of app which works on a site on a desktop. Just to keep track of your location and what you are searching online, these apps track you and kills your battery. Go smart, use no tracking browser like bromite and live the freedom.
Now for ROM part, I get the best battery with any OOS + elementalX kernel. None of the custom rom are better than OOS and yes don't forget to remove all Google apps and OnePlus apps, they track you.
Also install betterbatterystats to check what is killing your battery, I easily get upto 8 hrs. of sot if no pubg.

I have lately noticed that Google play has been using so much of my battery. Right now when I go to battery usage is says Google play has used about 70% of my battery.
Does anyone have an idea of why Google play is such a big contributed to my battery usage?

I do not think it is, because when I use battery trackers like AccuBattery to track battery usage I can see that the battery is being used significantly more when youtube, google play aren't force stopped. It's not as bad the last few days, but I have had days where it says youtube has used 10 percent of the battery.
also google play services has completely stopped using a lot of battery, it is now usually under Other in the power usage tab, but now andriod os is using 75 percent of the battery. Do you know how I can report this to Xiaomi? or like get some support?

Check again after a few days.... Btfery drain is always worse after a factory reset or on a new phone as Android learns your usage Patterns
I have a 10+ running on Pie.
It took me months to sort out excessive battery usage. If your phone is running warm at idle you need to track down the causes. I use PD MDM package blocker which helps a lot if used wisely. A lot of junk that needs to be disable in settins too. My nominal battery usage screen off, plain jane AOD on is 1% an hour. Surfing the web, watching a vid is about 10% an hour. Your device probably uses more though even when optimized not sure though.
In Samsung Device Care, use factory load if it is the one with 360 degrees on it. Do not update.
•In Device Care punch Optimize for power/screen setting.
•Toggle on fast charging and -nothing- else. (see image)
You can then package block this app.
•This configuration will also keep power management from unwantedly killing apps in use like Poweramp. All other unused apps should go into standby mode when not in use or screen off... without power management options being toggled!
Use no 3rd party power management and for now don't toggle any apps to sleep.
•In Developer options>stand by apps, all buckets should show as active, if not unwanted power management is active.
Let the base Google default settings handle power management. Enabling advanced power management appears to cause conflicts leading to excessive CPU/battery usage.
•Any cloud app will steal power and bandwidth, Google Backup Transport and Goggle Services Framework are prime offenders.
•Disable all carrier, Samsung, Google etc diagnostic feedback as well as carrier updates and Playstore.
Enable as needed.
•Use Samsung Gallaxy Labs Battery Tracker to help track usage.
Framework will still show usage with AOD is active about 1% @ hour when blocked. It should be well below 1% when phone is active.
I've posted more detailed info in the 10+ forum.
Each phone configuration varies so try these suggestions, what works for me may or may not work for you.
Get a package disabler and start locking it down... play with it.

They aren't on Playstore. You have to look a little or know about them.
Been using it for at least 3 years probably longer. Very stable. A great tool for non-rooted Samsungs.

Thanks for link. It's weird though, as the app made by Policedeveloper on the Play Store has the same UI and same name, they also use identical screenshots with an old Samsung phone model! I wonder if they are the same developer or one has copied the other.
I was using the one on the Play Store but it did break after upgrading to Android 10. I am considering buying the app you recommend but don't want to get burned again. I know its not a lot of money but I don't want to be sold a lemon!

Don't know who stole what but know I'll never use anything from Policedeveloper again. Trashware.
Didn't appreciate their lame attitude when I emailed them either.
I've used PD MDM on Kitkat and Pie. Lol, no plans to jam Q into my 10+ though; it's running stable and fast.
I was apprehensive at first too, but they have consistently given me a quality app.
If they say it's compatible you should be good to go.

In Google Play Services>app permissions, disable all to get Google Transport Framework from using excessive battery. Google Transport Framework and Google Transport are package blocked as well. The former is the last step to shut these power sucking background apks down. So far I haven't lost any functionality I use.
Took me a year to track all of these down. Ha!
Should be 94 blocked apks, may have lost some in the confusion of manipulating the list.
Some of the blocked apks I've enabled the widget toogle to turn them off/on like Playstore.
•I'm running a 10+ on Pie... no idea how the Fold on Q will respond to this list but probably similarly.
•This list is customized for my set up and circumstances; each user's needs are different.
Best practice is to formulate your own list... the hard way. That way you'll learn what the apks you're blocking do and how the apks interact/their dependencies.
Hi, I own the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and I noticed after some research that the Bixby voice wake-up service uses more than 20% of the battery which is ridiculous since I don't even use Bixby. I turned off Bixby voice wake-up toggle but that didn't change anything and I still find this among the running services under the developers' menu.
Did anyone else notice this? is there a way to disable it permanently? I even tried blocking it using the alliance shield x but it didn't work and it remained active
Update your apps to the latest version using Galaxy Store. Few years back when Google Play Services used to cause serious battery drain, a simple updated used to solve the problem.

Apologies, I did not mean to underestimate your knowledge. Some system apps are tied with other packages, for an example, Android Framework app is located at /system/framework/framework-res.apk, this is one APK.
But many many apps demand it, so they are tied together. If one of the tied apps drained 17% of battery, it'll show you that Android OS app (AKA Android Framework app) has drained that much of energy.
Whilst the fact could be different, that's why simple battery stats is not totally accurate.
If you are consistent in your position, you can disable Bixby Voice through ADB.
* The attached screenshot is from data usage info, just to show you that there is apps linked to other apps.

No need to apologize. On the contrary, it was me who didn't get your post very well. You are definitely right. Some services aren't stand-alone and they are usually linked to other apps or packages. But I will disable this service anyway using ADB and check if it disappears from the list.
Did u solve the promblem?i need serios help...mine is draining 40% of the battery
