Hello,
when I leave my S6 for example on the table for 30minutes and open Whatsapp again it does take a longer time to oppen. I dind't kill the app in task manager!
Whatsapp has a uptime of 25 mintes and Facebook about 19 hours!
I have over 800mb free RAM. Why does it kill whatsapp on a mobile phone with 3GB of RAM?
On my old S4 it stayed in RAM.
Can someone please help me?
The Galaxy S6 has a RAM problem:

Will it be fixed with Android 5.1?
It looks like that ram issues are in 5.1 too. But we should wait for official release

For all the BlackBerry had in getting their Blackberry Messenger ready to compete against the likes of Whatsapp on Android and iOS it stills remains a poorly coded app. After their last update things really took a turn for the worse as i noticed that for my Nova Launcher seemed to redraw itself more regularly on my Galaxy Note 3 which has 3GB of on board RAM. On checking the Application manager i found the culprit which had managed to use over 300MB of RAM, rebooting my phone seemed to solve the problem but three hours later and a few messages sent it had managed to use 210MB of RAM, which is ridiculous considering that this is just a mere chat app not a graphics intensive game, comparing it to the other chats that i had on my phone like Whatsapp which used about 10MB of RAM and Facebook messenger which used just a little above 24MB.
uninstall it.
usless.

Clear ram and back to 10mb (bbm)
I am using the stock Moto G ROM + Xposed and Gravity box + Faux @ 1.6gh/z, I have found this combination to provide an excellent and stable CM11 like experience.
In the CM11 forum thread, I have found several references to "Greenify". I have already installed the free version but found that this could only be used to gain a small amount of RAM.
For info, I currently have 21 running processes and there is approx 360 mb of free RAM.
I do see the possibility of gaining maybe an additional 200 mb of ram free if I use the Greenify paid version as it apparently can be used to hibernate system apps. I also understand that I can Greenify messaging apps such as Whatsapp, Skype, Viber yet they will continue to act as if they are running (ie. notifications etc), is this correct?
My question is this. If I can increase the free ram to say 550mb what will the phone gain from doing this? I mean, will I notice any real difference in the phones performance or Antutu performance etc. Also do the Greenify'd messaging app's notifications continue to work reliably?
I would be pleased to have your comments. I ask the above because the phone is working well and it is responsive and reliable. I don't want to add this app if there are any potential negative effects.

Greenify isn't much made to free ram but to prevent background processes to stay alive and drain performance/battery
And that's you, user, that choose which app to greenify so no worry about messaging if you didn't greenify it

@matmutant Boy - Thanks! that was a quick reply, I had just edited the 1st post when I already saw your reply. Ok, so its more battery saving orientated, I didn't realize that. Battery life is something I find hard to quantify. Certainly the Moto G is doing a lot better than my N4. My wife is using the Moto G and with average use she gets up to 48 hours of use, (she usually charges it every day but does forget sometimes).
I recently checked it and at that time found it was 20.5 hrs on battery, with 26% screen ontime (44 mins). Battery at 78%.
With Greenify I guess the only way to see the difference is to buy it and then check the battery status by measuring the drop in battery percentage over a fixed standby period over several days.
So its a good app right? It almost sounds like Greenify is modifying the processes to become more iPhone like in order to improve things. That's my angle anyway.
Yet another question. I decided to purchase Greenify. What I have found is that Greenify Gives me a choice when trying to Greenify system app's. ie. The message I get is "Sorry, system app is not safe to be greenified in general. Then the question "insist" or "cancel" I am afraid to try "insist"!
I am confused as to what I can really achieve with Greenify. I would appreciate some advice. He is a complete list of the processes currently running on the moto G. I would appreciate a short guideline as to what can and cannot be achieved with Greenify.

How is that an issue? RAM is supposed to be used up. That's how apps are stored in memory do you can quickly multitask. Reboot and it will drop until you open apps again.
You can try background process limit and don't keep activities button on developer settings

Hi.
Probably a dumb question especially as I should know this after doing a IT course but is closing apps from the recent apps list a badish thing?
WIth windows I'm used to closing apps to free up RAM for other programs but I've recently found out that android doesn't work like this and it's best to keep the apps in the recents list for faster loading etc. While this makes sense and I have obviously noticed that apps will load faster if they're in the recent apps list but does this not have an effect on cpu or battery life?
Just need some clarification as how how android manages it's RAM compared to windows and whether it has a negative effect on performance if you leave apps in the recents list.
Closing recent apps is no problem at all. If you openend an app (e.g. facebook) and you don't want to use it anymore, you can close it easily to free up your ram. Otherwise they keep in your ram. Of course your recent apps load faster this way, if they aren't to many. The more apps run in background, the more runs your phone slower. In that case, Android closes "big" apps automaticly.
When you're using several apps at the same time, you can switch easily through these recent apps.
If you don't use your phone at the moment, you can just close them.
I think you mean something like task killer apps. These aren't really quite good because Android handles this already very well.

hi.
there are five catagories in which i devide the android device into (baaed on ram and battery)
1-- low end device (less than 756 mb ram)
generally have a 1800 mah battery or less with a max of 1.2 ghz dual core processor. in these devices using 3g with two apps in background drains your battery like hell.
recommoded to kill apps in background.
2-- low average end device (756 mb of ram)
generally have a 2300 mah battery with 1.4 ghz quad core processor. in these devices using 3g with two apps in backgtound will give a 6 to 8 hours battery backup. but if apps goes more than two it starts heating and battery brains a lil faster. but to play a hardcore game you still have to close 3g and all apps forcefulley.
3-- mid end devices (1 or 1.5 gb of ram)
generally have a 3000 mah battery with 1.4 to 1.5 ghz quad core processor. in these devices using 3g with two apps in background will give 10 hours of battery backup. open max of 5 apps in backgroung will not effect performance and battery backup much. to play high end games again have to close all apps.
4-- mid high end devices (2 gb of ram)
generally with 4000 mah battery with 2 ghz octa core processor. in these devices using 3g with two apps in background will give a 10 to 12 hours of battery backup. open as many apps in background will not effect battery life and performance much. to play games not more than two apps should run in backgtound.
5-- high end devices (2.5 to 3 gb of ram)
generally with a 5000 to 6000 mah battery with 2.5 ghz octa core processor. in these devices apps in background do not effect battery life or performance. on 3g gives a 1 to 1.5 days battery backup. play games with no lag.
if this helped hit thanks.
exceptions are n all over the world. exception is law of nature.

He just wants to understand what to do to get more perfrmance or more free ram on any devices.
Just want to understand.

See android too works with processes and everything, you have foreground apps and background apps and what not..
To speed up, check which app has a service which stays alive all the time, then you travel to Settings>>Apps>>Running
Here see the Ram usage stop processes that you feel u dont need at that time. And then enjot
Thank me if i helped ... ?
Good method

Hello all!
My Mate 7 (MT7-L09) has tremendous difficulties with multitasking. It is unable to keep more than 2 apps running, one in the foreground and one in the background. Out of the 2gb RAM available, about 500 to 750 MB are free for app use. But another problem is that those 500-750 MB's are never used and every app that I switch to from the multitasking view has to reload time and time again. Sometimes, my phone is even unable to run a music (streaming) app in the background or when the screen is off.
Does anyone else have this problem and/or know how to improve the situation?
I have a clean install of B522 installed with no root and minimal apps. "Performance" mode is always enabled and I do not have any malicious apps draining my RAM. Using the stock launcher with little costumization.
Thanks in advance!
