Looking to root new S6 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

Hi all. I'm to finally make the switch from my s4 to the s6. Now can i use pingpong to root a verizon s6? I looked at the thread, but it looked like Verizon is not supported, or maybe I'm wrong? Also from reading the thread, is it true pingpong will not trip Knox so I could unroot for warranty issues?
thanks for any info

I'll give you a quick answer but all your questions are answered in the ping pong thread in Verizon S6 General. I have the latest OT applied and ping pong roots it fine, just do download data before get root. The latest Verizon version is rootable. It will not trip knox.
Good luck

You will be totally fine. As Protibus said. Upgrade first then follow these instructions.

Sorry, one question.
I just got my S6.
Not there is an OTA update out there. Should I install the OTA update before rooting. I know if was said to do it, but I didn't know if that will put me past the AOC3 version and then I won't be able to root.
Thanks

I bought a verizon galaxy s4 a few weeks ago and foolishly updated it. I now want to root it and i havent rooted anything in months but i wasnt to worried until i cant seem to find if you can root with version VRUFNK1. I found 1 thread where someone said they bricked there phone trying on this version. If it possible please let me know and what method to use.
you can actually root it safely only if you downgrade back to the VRUFNC5 bootloader , the use the vroot method.

I done some research and am very lost as to what to do. there are no clear instuructions on how to downgrade from vrufnk1 to vrufnc5 at all that I can find. can someone elaborate on this and give me a little more detailed instuctions and possibly links to the files ill need or websites where to find them. And is it possible to even downgrade without first being rooted? Sorry its been years since i have done this and it was way simpler on the kindle fire.
I have a buddy thats in the same boat, he's got a newer s4 and wants to rom it for his first time.
I am also in this predicament. I had a galaxy nexus that I would flash different roms to every week but I upgraded via Verizon to the S4 a few months ago -- bloatware is awful and is taking up over 7GB of my 16... Would love to get a jump on rooting, but I can't find anything on this build aside from this thread and another few posts that were also unanswered. Any help or direction would be great -- do y'all think there will have to be another way to root this build, or can downgrading be okay?
Same boat
I too am in the same boat, for some reason with i545vrufnk1, I can't root so want to downgrade the firmware to a firmware that allows me to root, tried all the various methods to root but for some reason I can't, think it might be the firmware or the knox software package.
I believe you could root with Towelroot.

towel root won't work
I tried it with the latest official update and it won't work. I'm looking to root as well.

Look for this thread on xda search tab. It worked for me. Just follow closely.
I followed the downgrade instructions and got root back. Is it Verizon that makes it a pain in the ass? I don't know what I would do without this place and helpful people

[Completed] Unrooted Galaxy Note 3

Hello Forum,
I recently rooted my Galaxy Note 3 without tripping knox and then Unrooted it. However, when I try to update my phone it says "Update failed. Your device will recover the original configuration.". Any suggestions?
Which carrier do you have? There are a couple ways to fix this, easiest is to completely return to stock. Reply with what carrier your on and I will link you to a guide.
Thank you.

Sprint Samsung S5 SMG-900P 5.0 OA6 Rooting?

So I have done a LOT of reading about rooting the Samsung galaxy S5 and am a little weary of actually rooting since the posts are old and so many people are saying CF (trips Knox) and Towel work/ don't work. I also realize that the two methods are not the only ones out there. I just received my phone like 4 days ago so I would like to not brick my phone. I just received the 5.0 update. I understand that rooting doesn't trip Knox but the custom recovery and roms do. Basically, I would just like a confirmation of what is the best and proven method of rooting my phone. Any help or point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I haven't rooted my S5 yet and I don't know what cfar is. Could you please elaborate.
Cfar stands for cf auto root. If you go to the link I posted it has step by step directions, including how to find and use cfar

Nvm, I figured it out.
For me, rooting was easy. Just ODIN'd a custom recovery and then loaded a rooted ROM. Piece of cake.
wow the op asked how to root without tripping knox and you guys pointed him to cf auto root.

I answered his question about cfar and how to find rooting instruction. He mentioned Knox but did not specifically say he was trying to avoid it. The link I gave him has all of the rooting information he would need.
My bad i thought he was asking to avoid tripping. Sorry.

First I installed TWRP the newest version (2.8.x I believe it is from Google play store) then created a backup and put it on my sdcard. Then I used the cf auto root method (for my device). Had no problems. Verified with root checker app. Then made another backup and saved to sdcard. If you follow this and somehow you get bricked I am not responsible, just saying this is what I had done and it worked for me with no problems.

Right okay cool thanks for that. I have bad news for you, because your phone has a locked bootloader it cannot be rooted at this point until an exploit is found. I even had a look over in the At&T s6 forums and there's not much going on. Sorry mate.

That sucks but thanks for the straightforward answer. But there's really 0 options for me at this point? Not even downgrading or flashing? (Just some terms I've picked up, don't exactly know what those mean)

Unfortunately not, downgrading is when going from one version to the previous, due to how samsung setup their bootloader, trying to say go from nougat to Marshmallow is not possible so you will always remain on nougat. Flashing is commonly done via a recovery and a piece of software called odin, every phone has a recovery but most root things need you to have a custom recovery like twrp this can only be achieved via having root, odin is used to flash stock Samsung firmwares. Hope that helps a bit. For the time being my advice to you is to keep looking at the s6 at&t forums from time to time, at some point they may come out with a root exploit that works.
