Sprint Samsung S5 SMG-900P 5.0 OA6 Rooting? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have done a LOT of reading about rooting the Samsung galaxy S5 and am a little weary of actually rooting since the posts are old and so many people are saying CF (trips Knox) and Towel work/ don't work. I also realize that the two methods are not the only ones out there. I just received my phone like 4 days ago so I would like to not brick my phone. I just received the 5.0 update. I understand that rooting doesn't trip Knox but the custom recovery and roms do. Basically, I would just like a confirmation of what is the best and proven method of rooting my phone. Any help or point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I haven't rooted my S5 yet and I don't know what cfar is. Could you please elaborate.

Cfar stands for cf auto root. If you go to the link I posted it has step by step directions, including how to find and use cfar

Nvm, I figured it out.

For me, rooting was easy. Just ODIN'd a custom recovery and then loaded a rooted ROM. Piece of cake.

wow the op asked how to root without tripping knox and you guys pointed him to cf auto root.

I answered his question about cfar and how to find rooting instruction. He mentioned Knox but did not specifically say he was trying to avoid it. The link I gave him has all of the rooting information he would need.

My bad i thought he was asking to avoid tripping. Sorry.

First I installed TWRP the newest version (2.8.x I believe it is from Google play store) then created a backup and put it on my sdcard. Then I used the cf auto root method (for my device). Had no problems. Verified with root checker app. Then made another backup and saved to sdcard. If you follow this and somehow you get bricked I am not responsible, just saying this is what I had done and it worked for me with no problems.

[Q] Help with GS5 root on Android 5.0

Hello ladies and gents, has android 5.0 been cracked yet? I mean can you root a sprint gs5 that is running Android 5.0
I would like to rot my phone so I can install a program to my phone that requires root. I do not wish to change or flash new roms or anything. Just to root the phone for this software. Has 5.0 been cracked on the sprint gs5? If so can someone link me to the thread for the instructions and links for software? How successful is the root? I know rooting is at your own risk but sometimes it fails more then it succeeds and that feels a bit risky for me. I am on mobile so it is not easy for me to search all the threads. I did see the sticky about rooting this phone, but I do not remember saying what version of Android it was for. Thanks for all the help.
The rooting method has not changed. All you need is Odin and the superuser tar.

Looking to root new S6

Hi all. I'm to finally make the switch from my s4 to the s6. Now can i use pingpong to root a verizon s6? I looked at the thread, but it looked like Verizon is not supported, or maybe I'm wrong? Also from reading the thread, is it true pingpong will not trip Knox so I could unroot for warranty issues?
thanks for any info

I'll give you a quick answer but all your questions are answered in the ping pong thread in Verizon S6 General. I have the latest OT applied and ping pong roots it fine, just do download data before get root. The latest Verizon version is rootable. It will not trip knox.
Good luck

Sorry, one question.
I just got my S6.
Not there is an OTA update out there. Should I install the OTA update before rooting. I know if was said to do it, but I didn't know if that will put me past the AOC3 version and then I won't be able to root.
Thanks

Rooting Samsung Galax Core Prime SM-G360G

Hi there everybody.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime SM-G360G. This is my first smart phone, which I've had for a couple of months, and I'm completely new to rooting. I'm kind of wary of the risks involved, but I'd still like to go ahead with it and reap the benefits.
Googling around yielded a few guides which suggested using the Kingroot app. I did some research on this, and some people have issues with the security of using it.
What are your thoughts? Are there any trusted apps, or any alternatives to root this phone?
Ye it is there

How to root samsung galaxy devices
Forgive me for doing so, but I think I'll pass on a guide that was locked by a moderator and suggested to be harmful to some devices.
Its not harmful its a easy intrepreted form of another trusted guide on xda

The method is same but you have to find your device specific recovery and you are good to go
That's for a different model. I'm not prepared to root my phone with a guide that hasn't been tested and confirmed with my phone model.
I searched for my phone model, here are the results:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sitesearch.php?q=g360g
There are no guides there that are confirmed to work for G360G.
Can you google and find the clockworkmod recovery for your devive
There is no clockworkmod for his specific model number, and I kindly suggest you chill out a bit. I know you desperately want to be useful with your (not nearly) universal root guide, but as the mod that locked it said, it's not necessary. A copy and paste of many available guides.

From a comment on Reddit:
Not sure about the G360G, but as far as I know there isn't much of a LEGIT way to root the core primes...
I know the model numbers vary and everything, but so far I haven't been able to find anything stable regarding rooting that phone.
Here in the states it is relatively new, which means it is going to be a while before and exploit is found. Give it some time

Still have Verizon Galaxy S5 lolipop if anyone still is wondering

I honestly don't know if I am posting this on the right thread or not. I have a Verizon Galaxy S5 still on the 5.0 BOG5 update because I want to root my phone. Any information on a new root method will be very helpful. Thanks again for helping even if you do not know of a method yet.
