Best Kernel Tuning/Performance Control App? - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Last time I really got into kernel mods was back with my old Galaxy S3. I used the KT747 kernel with the KTweaker app that came with it. KTweaker is to this day the absolute best kernel app I've ever used. Simple but powerful interface that gets the job done.
That's what I'm looking for. Never loved TricksterMod, I know that's popular but I've never really been a fan. Plus I've heard it has Lollipop issues.
So what's the best app out there for this?
PS. Voltage control is a big deal for me.
PPS. I'm on DH's GPE ROM, using EliteKernel.

[Q] Best Kernel for battery life/stability

Hi I am flashing this phone for a friend and I come from the Samsung Captivate so its fairly similar. Only question I have and I hope someone can help without flaming me is which Kernel would you suggest? Im going with Infused 1.5.2 as the rom and I am just curious what pairs with that best? Thanks in advance.

if you're one of those "set it and forget it" types... i was incredibly pleased with the latest release of gtg's infusion 1.5.2 rom/kernel combo. very responsive, smooth and snappy. by far my favorite of all his releases to date for this phone.
if you're the type that likes to do a bit of fiddling for an ultimately rewarding end result, i recommend installing the above mentioned rom with bedwa's OC/UV kernel. i've had nothing but a smooth and stable experience with the two paired together. nothing but good things to say about both of these. having voodoo lagfix alone makes a huge difference. when you combine that with overclocking you get a device that feels much more awake and ready to perform. undervoltage allows you to use less battery power, even though the cpu is running at a higher frequency. really, makes a HUGE difference. cannot express how pleased i am with these two running together.
*i might also add that i've never installed any of the other roms. i have tried the defuse kernel with BLN was introduced(it has since been removed due to buggy issues).

It was for a friend.so set it and forget it was my best option. He instantly noticed a speed improvement in the responsiveness using infusion. Thanks for the help.

cool man. no problem. infused rom makes a world of difference in itself.
I've had the best battery life and stability on Infusion 1.5.0
Overclocked to 1.6, with the right undervolting i lost 3% battery over night (9+ hours)
I tried the 1.8 infusion but "OnDemand" stops working and thats my favorite setting so I went back to 1.5.0
I never had good luck with ondemand, along with most other users. Ondemand always FC'd on me

Best Business ROM

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a good business ROM... specifically something that has solid battery and good performance. I like the voodoo enhancements and need stablility and speed.
Thanks!!

Koushdeck 1.2.1 w/ Matr1x v5.0 bfs has good batt life and good performance from what I've seen. Matr1x kernel also has BLN and VooDoo.
MIUI 1.7.22 w/ Matr1x v5.0 bfs and cfs has good batt life and performance.
Ppl say cyanogen nightlies, the batt life is going bad. But I haven't flashed a nightly for quite awhile.
I'm using MIUI 1.7.22 w/Matr1x v5.0 bfs and its going good.
Flash a rom and find the one that's fits you best.
Cheers!
Edit: btw, all roms are great. Including nightlies.
Many good choices. Oxygen with TUV11 kernel has worked well for me.
I suggest stock rooted with matrix
I'm pretty new to rooting and using customs roms. A few days ago I started using CM7 nightly (from #138 - #144) and have had no serious problems/reboots/...
Using my smartphone for mail/calendar mostly.
So far I'm pretty happy with CM7.
yeah rooted stock is all that you need. best battery around
Questions should be posted in the question forum. Thread moved.
This is the q&a section... :O
I'm searching a business rom too.
What does "stock rooted with matrix" mean ?
I guess that stock is the software provided by Google, rooted means that you gain the root access to the phone, but I don't get what "matrix" means.
What I basically need is:
1. stability;
2. speed;
3. good contacts and calendar management/sync (with outlook or in second place thunderbird);
4. edit office documents.
Any suggestion ?
Matrix is a custom kernel. Check out the developer's forum.
Yeah lol, its a kernel

For a life or death "I'm running my business from it" I'd recommend bone stock (not rooted or anything).
Just wouldn't trust running, say, a tinkered with ROM that may crash and burn on you or a Chinese OS (MIUI) that has closed code.
No telling...
I'd just be careful with trusting my livelihood with a "INTERNET ROM CHEF" type of OS.
That's just me.
I'd want to keep things as stock as possible as far as roms go. I'm assuming that the OP is the IT staff that will be maintaining the staff phones. What I would do is to have a standard update.zip pack that has the chosen apps, theme, and settings. Update as required. I'd include the apps that get the job done in a consistent manner. I'd have a data monitoring app so that the user (or you) can control data usage so they stay within the plan. Your backend servers would have enough control to find lost phones, lock them down when needed, and wipe them if required.
That being said there is a use case for a business centric rom(s) that is custom for the job and secure for the business while keeping the user happy and productive.

[Q] MIUI experiences: Gingerbread vs ICS (And others), what's the best MIUI?

Hey guys, so I've been using an old version of OOdie Prime's MIUI for almost a year now. It is version 2.1.20 V2 and the kernel is a 3.1.10-ICUP. The only reason I haven't upgraded is because I ended up uploading too many files at once and I became too lazy to backup and try something else. The note came along and I was going to buy one initially but came to my senses that $900 is better spent elsewhere. So instead I've decided to upgrade my ROM and kernel lol.
I'm a big fan of MIUI. My favourite features are the easy drop slide down menu bar, and the fact that if somebody texts you or google chats you, that bar automatically slides down and you can respond immediately. I like that.
That might be standard in other ROMs now but if I had to pick an MIUI rom based on those features plus battery life, stability and performance what would you recommend? The only thing I don't like about this one is the browser crashes frequently if I'm viewing some sort of video through it. Maybe it's because I sent the underclock to low? I don't know (And I forget how to adjust it anyway).
Gingerbread or Jellybean for sure.
Edit: And to adjust your underclock and overclock, download "No frills CPU" You can change it to whatever you like.
And I would choose Jellybean MIUI over Gingerbread. My opinion.
If your not into gaming then you can run the jb builds but i have noticed that from ICS onward gaming performance suffers!
Loved the gb miui, ics and jb seems too laggish to me (and i dont want to overclock much) :/

Getting a g3 a few questions

I'm grabbing one for my daughter today and she is going to want me to root, and flash a custom rom.
How stable is 4.2 and 4.3?
What roms/kernel combinations give the best battery life?
It's been a long time since I've used Odin "I think it was my galaxy s4g" since I've used it. The YouTube video under the how to post makes it look pretty easy.

4.2 is pretty stable, although the trade off is shaky WiFi to 3g to 4g hand offs.. Its pretty much the same for 4.3 ROMs as well.. 4.2 is a little more polished compared to some of the small bugs that still are being worked out in 4.3 ... Both are 100% better then touchwiz IMHO. Hope that helps.

Just use the stock kernals that come packed in cm 4.2 or 4.3.. And battery like in 4.2 is on par if not better than stock touchwiz.. 4.3 has a bit to go in that category

What you're asking is a very subjective question. I'd say most of the roms are nice to run and it really matters what features you and your daughter are looking for. AOSP offers a pure Google experience, but you're missing out on some great features touchwiz has to offer. There are good things associated with both options that might weigh you to one side or another.
Basically, I think factors that affect battery life the most aren't rom and kernel related, but applications running on your phone. I find any custom kernel you run will operate more efficiently than a stock kernel. You may notice a slight increase in battery life, but you'll definitely notice a boost in performance.
I'd recommend not relying on what people tell you are good roms, because everyone is going to have a different experience as to which is the best, you're basically going to get a bunch of answers to the same question. Even though our phones are the same, minor hardware and cpu differences could make one rom spectacular on one phone, and cause lag and frustration on another. Trying out roms and playing with them is part of the experience of finding the perfect balance between battery life and performance for your phone.
Odin is extremely easy to use, just follow the directions exactly as stated and you shouldn't have any issues.

I understand what you're saying I know with my phone Franco kernel only runs one core when the phone is a sleep and two with the ui and trinity is full performance. I wasn't sure if there was something like that here.
How stable stuff is really isn't a opinion.

You have a good premise, but stability is also linked to user error most of the time, unless you're talking about AOSP nightlies. If someone tells you they had a horrible experience on a certain rom, it's hard to take their word for it because you have no idea what other modifications they made to a rom, or if they followed flashing procedures correctly. It's not fair to the developer of a rom to have somebody who messed up their phone talk badly about it. It steers away a potential user from a rom choice and frustrates developers who put countless hours into their rom.
As far as your kernel question goes, I would look at the governor options available as that's what controls your cpu. You can gear any kernel to be more efficient or battery friendly with an app like set cpu. Ktoonsez and zues kernel have many governor choices available, as lean kernel would be much more stock like, but leaner. A governor such as pegasusq will control both your cores and only turn your second on if needed.

[Q] All those kernels... and the battery life.

Hi all,
I just got my nexus 5, two days ago and I'm enjoying it.
I've installed Beergang on it with Bricked kernel.
I'm using Bricked kernel from showp-1984 because I remember having good battery life using a Galaxy Note a couple of years ago.
Now, I cannot really say anything yet on the battery, I'm waiting a bit of charging cycles before.
Now, there are others kernels, here they are:
Franco
Trinity
Faux123
n3ocort3x
flar2
Now, the question is, which kernel is best to have a best battery life?
I'm not an heavy user of games, I don't play, I just use it for emails and hangouts mainly.
Also, I see that with some of these kernels, you can buy an app from the developer to control the kernel settings. I don't care about buying the application, it's not the problem.
I'm just wondering which kernel is best for the battery life of my phone.
I'm not a developer and I asking to the community a couple of advice for our beloved Nexus 5.
Thanks !
You'll have to try them all for yourself. Whats good for you may not be good for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477889
rootSU is rite wat works great for me may not work good for u... but for me franco kernel gives me GREAT battery life... i would say try out franco kernel if your not happy with it try a diff one:good:
Just try each kernel for a couple days and see what happens. I'd recommend Franco or faux. Trinity is also nice as well.
Out of them all, Franco and faux are my favorites to use.

There is no "best" ROM/Kernel, head over to the development section and see which "best" suits your needs.
