Hi guys,
I'm looking for a good business ROM... specifically something that has solid battery and good performance. I like the voodoo enhancements and need stablility and speed.
Thanks!!

Koushdeck 1.2.1 w/ Matr1x v5.0 bfs has good batt life and good performance from what I've seen. Matr1x kernel also has BLN and VooDoo.
MIUI 1.7.22 w/ Matr1x v5.0 bfs and cfs has good batt life and performance.
Ppl say cyanogen nightlies, the batt life is going bad. But I haven't flashed a nightly for quite awhile.
I'm using MIUI 1.7.22 w/Matr1x v5.0 bfs and its going good.
Flash a rom and find the one that's fits you best.
Cheers!
Edit: btw, all roms are great. Including nightlies.
Many good choices. Oxygen with TUV11 kernel has worked well for me.
I suggest stock rooted with matrix
I'm pretty new to rooting and using customs roms. A few days ago I started using CM7 nightly (from #138 - #144) and have had no serious problems/reboots/...
Using my smartphone for mail/calendar mostly.
So far I'm pretty happy with CM7.
yeah rooted stock is all that you need. best battery around
Questions should be posted in the question forum. Thread moved.
This is the q&a section... :O
I'm searching a business rom too.
What does "stock rooted with matrix" mean ?
I guess that stock is the software provided by Google, rooted means that you gain the root access to the phone, but I don't get what "matrix" means.
What I basically need is:
1. stability;
2. speed;
3. good contacts and calendar management/sync (with outlook or in second place thunderbird);
4. edit office documents.
Any suggestion ?
Matrix is a custom kernel. Check out the developer's forum.
Yeah lol, its a kernel

mathkid95, which is the most stable version of the matrix kernel ?
Um, cfs lol

For a life or death "I'm running my business from it" I'd recommend bone stock (not rooted or anything).
Just wouldn't trust running, say, a tinkered with ROM that may crash and burn on you or a Chinese OS (MIUI) that has closed code.
No telling...
I'd just be careful with trusting my livelihood with a "INTERNET ROM CHEF" type of OS.
That's just me.
I'd want to keep things as stock as possible as far as roms go. I'm assuming that the OP is the IT staff that will be maintaining the staff phones. What I would do is to have a standard update.zip pack that has the chosen apps, theme, and settings. Update as required. I'd include the apps that get the job done in a consistent manner. I'd have a data monitoring app so that the user (or you) can control data usage so they stay within the plan. Your backend servers would have enough control to find lost phones, lock them down when needed, and wipe them if required.
That being said there is a use case for a business centric rom(s) that is custom for the job and secure for the business while keeping the user happy and productive.

Ok, ive been doing some research and it looks like eagals blood is prob the rom for me. I was wondering if i could get some advice on this, i am currently unrooted so im stock , this phone is killing me when it comes to battery life, the stability is so so, but my real problem is battery life i charge my fone about 3 times a day. I am a crazy heavy user, fb, texting about 200-400 message a day, phone calls every now and then, games (words with friends), and just random internet stuff. so my phone is like my life! My friend has a samsung captivate and he can go 12-14 of heavy usage prob not as much as me but he doesnt have it charging all the time like me. I was wondering what rom i should use to achieve great battery life and not lose out on stabilty or speed, look doesnt matter bc i use UTO kitchen.
Are you looking for an Android 2.3.3 or 2.3.5 ROM?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Hey man if you want a 2.3.3 rom that is stock the best is Xboarders stock tweeked rom it is super stable and everything works and the battery life is great. I use that ROM myself when I am in a stock mood. You hit it on the head with eaglesblood it is the best rom out there. I use the 1.08 verion it is based off GB 2.3.5 it is a mix a cm7 and EB goodness. The battery life is also excellent on it but you will not have A2DP (thats BT stero music) And you cant flash the stock froyo LG camera and there are APN issues that A hard reboot fixes every time. All of the problems I just mentioned are not specific to EB they are however specific to GB 2.3.5 for the g2x. It has something to do with Nivdia not relesing something drivers or sorce I dont know what exactly but thats why. You have to make a choice. I hope this helps you. Oh I alklmost forgot I am a heavy user like you except not text mssgs or phone calls but net data data data I had to change my plan to the 10 gig plan 5 was not enough. So what I did was I got the extended battery for the O2x it fits perfdectly and it was only $30. Before that I had 2 stock batterys with an external charger that worked ok too but I hated changing the battery half way through the day you should look into that. Good luck man.

i dont mind i want something stable, fast and great battery life...what does A2DP mean...im going to try EB 1.07 bc i hear no1 has problems with that...
A2DP is Stereo Bluetooth Audio... That's only important if you listen to music using a Stereo Bluetooth Headset.
For battery life, I'd recommend a CM7 based ROM, with either a stock, or undervolted kernel, such as faux123.

I agree with FatalityBoyZahy,
I did see a battery life increase after installing CM7, but the most dramatic change in battery life came after installing faux's 0.4.1 undervolted kernel.
And no the speed and stability don't drop, at least not with faux's kernel.
I would imagine that a 2.3.3 stock GB based rom such as Xboarder's tweaked or EB 2.3.3 plus faux's stock GB kernel would produce the best battery life, as I remember experiencing a huge jump in battery life from CM7 to stock GB.
However, I feel like besides the great battery life, the stock GB roms are ****ty compared to CM7 in terms off features and stability.
For example you can't do Netflix or gtalk video on stock GB.
Also I didn't experience this, but some users experience reboots and other such nonsense on stock GB.
So in Summary:
- stock 2.3.3 based rom (EB 2.3.3 is your best bet here in my opinion) + faux kernel = best battery life
- cm7 based rom (EB 2.3.5 or latest CM7 nightly) + faux kernel = best choice for both great battery life and better stability/features

No. The only risk is that you might run into stability issues, but using morfic's UV11 it isn't an issue.
Undervolt, use SetCPU profiles, keep wifi/gps off when you're not using them, and keep your display brightness low. That will net you the best battery life.

I believe the faux kernel is here: [Kernel]CM7 [2.6.32.45] (v0.4.1) OC~1.55GHz/UV/SLQB/BFQ/EXT4/Voodoo [Aug-27]
Looks like the CM version of the kernel is preferred by some in that thread (has to do with the battery driver).
Question: In terms of flashing the kernel, should I flash the ROM first and then the kernel? Or the other way around? (Or does it not matter?)

Always ROM then kernel.
And I prefer the CM version of faux's kernel as well. Supposedly the DS version has better battery life but I've never been able to notice because I'm always busy pulling my hair out over the jumpy and wildly inaccurate readings.

I've been on stock for several months now and still loving it, but today I decided I think I would now move onto flashing a rom on this. (Inspiration to do so because of the iPhone 4s) I notice this phone does lag and I want to clear that up if a rom will do that. So my question is what Rom would be safe for a Roger's phone and will not boot up with one of those AT&T screens. What rom is everyone using out there?
Im more or less just asking for a suggestions haha.

Have you looked into overclocking?
I'm running the stock Rogers Gingerbread 2.3.3 and love it.
Overclocked to 1.6Ghz
Infusion-GB Core-A2
OC/UV w/ SetCPU
Memory tweaks w/ Auto killer
I get outstanding performance, perfectly stable & have doubled my stock battery life.
Overclocking will give you much greater performance increases over a ROM change, especially since we're fortunate enough to have been given the lovely Gingerbread stock.
Undervolting will keep you running cool & save you a lot of battery power too.

What would everyone suggest as far as custom ROM as the best one for least amount of RAM consumption throughout everyday use be it: games, apps (in general), phone, texting, etc. but still not really have to worry about opening task manager and tapping clear memory in the RAM tab after exiting apps?
I saw the other posts about RAM consumption but those are for other phones/tablets, I am posting in regards to my USCC Samsung Mesmerize SCH-i500 on 2.3.4 GB in particular, currently using just rooted stock ROM, nothing special (deodexed/debloated and/or themed).
After pressing clear memory it goes down to 211MB/348MB is there even a custom ROM that could manage to make it better?
I run Awesome Sauce 10.5 with voodoo leankernel v. 1.5. The author has configured it with memory in mind. My phone used to run around 300mb, now it hovers at just over 200mb.
There are also optimizations for 3g & wifi built in through Jakesmod. I used my Mesmerize pretty heavy (mp3 player 4-6 hrs, phone average 2hrs, internet 2-3 hrs.) during the course of 12 hours and the battery usually holds up. For average to light use I have gotten 22+ hours on a charge.
The only known issue I have is the Bluetooth, currently it is not working. The dev knows about the issue.

I'm running MIUI v1.12.30 from the forums here and I'm very impressed with the show of the ROM. It has folder creation capabilities much like the iPod/iPhone, which is very nice if you like a condenced screen and my RAM hovers around 150 to 125 and I've got several games and memory management programs installed including Autokiller and JuiceDefender which help, but the phone does run a lot faster from what I've seen. I have a few issues with it that I'm working to get resolved but all in all it is a great ROM for my first selection. Hope that helps!

Well, since getting my HTC Glacier last April, I've been on XDA quite frequently. Actually daily. Never gotten around to registering though. Just starting this thread to complete my 10 post requirement to post help/fixes on the development forum here. Since getting my Glacier last year I've had numerous ROMs. Many from the Virtuous Team, including the first sense 3.0 leak ROM, Fusion. Then from there to Unity from the official shipped RUU for the Pyramid. Knowing Sense ROM's use a lot of resources to make it all flashy, I wanted to try out a battery friendly ROM. I had some problems with CM7. It was nice, fast, and easy on the battery, except in the build I downloaded there was a connection bug that would render the data/wifi useless until I restarted the phone. From there I saw the Virtuous Team release their sense 3.5 ROM Affinity, I tried it for a while but once again, like all sense ROMs it was quite the battery hog. I decided from there to go to the weekly builds of MIUI from thederekjay. It was my daily driver for quite the long running. Until recently Ice Cream Sandwich ROM's flooded the development threads so I thought I'd try Febyc's AOSP Creamed Glacier. I ran that from the first beta release until I switched over to the Virtuous Quattro port by Febyc. And ran that until a few days ago I flashed Zipsnets build of Creamed Glacier which had the camera fix. Since then I haven't seen a smoother build of Ice Cream Sandwich for the HTC Glacier. So comes to today, currently running that same build by Zipsnet as previously stated. Loving it. Waiting until Virtuous Primadonna comes out of Alpha to try out sense 4.0 for a couple days depending on the battery usage. Oh, left out a few things. Tweaks I have used that have helped my glacier fly are as follows:
V6 SuperCharger
gps.conf tweaks to speed up GPS fix
Juice Defender battery saver [Ultimate]
ILWT Tools (free), app to tweak governors/cpu speed using screen on, screen off, charging, low battery, and temperature using a built in Daemon. Like implemented in newer virtuous ROMs
Feel free to check out/use any of the above tweaks to help make your phone an iPhone killer!!!

I'm quite the procrastinator for things haha. Used to have a Blackberry curve 8520 before this phone. I came over from IPMart Forum BBOSZone, tried to find a similar forum for Android but couldn't so I went here after being told about the amazingness of XDA. I was impressed when I came here. Have to say XDA has been my phone's savior many times over. I wouldn't be surprised if it is in the future as well. Helped me root the phone, hardest thing for me to do while pushing g-free files and then it still didn't work with visonary temp-root then perm-root method. But the oddest thing happened. After pushing the g-free files to the phone and running, unsuccessfully, I was able to SuperOneClick the root oddly enough. Keep in mind that the SuperOneClick method did not work prior to g-free attempt at root. I was finally at peace when I found out I had s-off and root. Following my root, the tweaks I applied, beside the ones posted in the OP, were a modified boot image. It reads "rooted MyTouch 4g" with the Android Central crossed arms android on it. Flashed CWM, duh! Flashed a new ROM because stock froyo sucked major ballsack. Experimented overclocking applications. Looking back I see what I n00b I was to tweaks and crap. I had no F***ing clue what a kernel was or what it did to your phone. Or what a governor was. Etc, etc etc. . . But obviously, after a **** ton of indulging my flash addiction, I have done sooooo many things I can't even remember, I have gotten to a phase where I could successfully aid Developers in Debugging and ROM testing and help other users solve problems such as maximizing your battery life on your phone. From kernels to ROMs to init.d scripts to root file modifications. Pretty much any type of tweak or modification that any power user could use without having to develop it themselves. My philosophy is simply:
Let the developers develop ROM's, tweaks, and modifications, and let the users use the ROM's, tweaks, and modifications to their own discretion. I'm glad to join the HTC Glacier XDA Forum.
Looking back to a few weeks ago, I wish I had been a little more thorough, and read more before I altered my phone. My first few posts were made in an absolute panicked state of mind, because I didn't know anything about rooting or flashing! (I flashed a Rom and didnt flash the boot.img which had me stuck on bootscreen) I started out by doing the HTC unlocking, which was the biggest mistake I made. But now, I have everything under control, running Black Ice. But the point of this post was to say that I really respect how you chose to kick back and be patient, which is something I didn't do but should have! I now understand what I am doing, which makes things easier on all involved. Welcome to XDA..

I would suggest you try the hybrid ics with AOKP and Zipsnets build. It's an odexed ROM but runs faster than a mother f***er. After you flash, I would suggest you, if you are a battery life enthusiast, to try the V6 Supercharger scripts found in the OP. Zepplinrox has three downloadable scripts to tweak your built in memory manager and a 3G supercharger script to speed up your data (you can confirm via speedtest) as well as kick ass kernelizer which tweaks your kernel and changes your I/O scheduler to support long battery life with a lag free environment. You use script manager to run the installation scripts and with this ROM, you need to navigate to your init.d folder and set the supercharger scripts to run as root and run at boot so when you restart your phone the tweaks will be enabled. Also, I would recommend ILWT tools, a GUI that installs an OC daemon to the root of your phone that allows faster profile switching without running a 3rd party app to do so. As with the supercharger scripts, ILWT tools installs an init.d script which needs to be set to run as root and run at boot in order to enable the OC Daemon. With this ROM, juice defender isn't needed because the built in ROM control has power saver settings that mimic juice defender, so you can save memory with one less background app and battery with the effectiveness of juice defender, and for free. It runs great on this ROM and all the OP tweaks can be applied to any ROM, giving you the same effectiveness as posted here. I just can't attest to a ROM I haven't tested any tweaks on.

good morning,
i'm quite new on this phone even if It works fine for me with a stock rom 4.0.4 I would you like to understand if there is a good advantage to pass on a custom rom.
Please share with me your experience and answer with my few questions:
what kind of custom rom and kermel you have on?
which is the difference there is in term of battery life; performance; stability.
Thanks for your help
Welcome to the Nexus ... you're going to love this phone. With that said, you need to jump in and do some reading. There is no shortage of opinion on which rom, kernel, or even GB vs ICS ... is best. It very much depends on your likes, dislikes, etc. I assume that you have a gsm device, so make sure to flash the appropriate roms, kernels, etc. Lastly, there is lots of help available, but it's always best if you dig in and bring yourself up to speed with what's already been posted in these great forums. Good luck!

thanks mate,
after few weeks i tested it, i find this phone a very good one and I don't feel the need to jump in a custom rom. I rooted it, installed a busybox and the clockwork and I added some apps to eliminate some gaps like the missing notification when the screen is off (I installed the noled apk for it) or like a switch off or switch on of the screen using the power button (I used an apps called accendi scermo and I switch on and off the screen using the phone sensor). The only thing that miss on this phone is an fm radio offline. I'm still searching a solution.
Stock rom: more stable, less features
Custom rom: less stable, more features
Well if you want to be normal. Than good for you.
Now a custom rom and kernel can give you unlimited privilages to things you can never imagine possible. Undervolting your device to give you brain blowing battery life or over clocking to give you awesome graphics.
A custom rom like CM9 or AOKP (there are way more than two but im just listing the popular ones) is of course better than stock since... well if it wasnt why would they make it. A kernel links your hardware to your software, meaning you can do some tweaking in the middle. If you find the right kernel and rom mix you can have a wopping 15 days standby on your battery (eg CM9 and Matr1x Kernel).
Now thats just the basics. if you are interested and want more information. Just do a bit of research and reading in this forum and ask questions in those forums. Hope this helps.
