USB port pushed in? - Onetouch Idol 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I think I might have pushed in my USB charging port. Can some check their I-3 to see if the port is flush with the phone case or if it's recessed a couple mils?
Thanks,

Thanks for confirming hatcyl. Mine is in quite a bit too. Thought I might've been the culprit but I guess that's how it's designed.

Are you using the factory wall charger or? Are you charging with a wall charger or USB hooked to computer/car? I honestly do not notice this problem with the NS.

I was using an iPod wall adapter right now because i forgot mine at home..
Also I know this is offtopic but can someone tell me how to optimize the battery life on this phone? Idle why but I feel like the battery isn't that great on this phone

Mine took like 3hour 20min-ish for the first charge. 3hour-ish for the second and third.

If you have the Super Amoled version, then you can use an all black desktop screen saver, switch your email/Facebook/weather syncs to a later time (2-6 hours instead of every 30 minutes), put the phone in 2g only mode when your not browsing the web or downloading apps, etc.

What the hell does this got to do with a 6 hour charge time ? As if the display is on all the time... or as if the syncing uses 10%+ off battery. It has nothing to do with this stuff, you're just not on the same page as the problem.
Try again with the original charger plugged into the wall socket, not into USB.

Why don't you read before you post tough guy? You sound real stupid. The OP asked an off topic question about how he can gain better battery life. "Hooked on Phonics" anyone?

Oh, I get it. Sorry, my bad.
I realised my Nexus S does take some time to charge up fully as compared to my Incredible S though.
Charger's rating is diff though after observing. 1A against 0.7mA

[Q] Skyrocket boots when charger is connected

I can't seem to find this particular problem anywhere. With my i727 off, when I connect the charger, any charger, it immediately boots up. I have turned off + on Boot - animation, sound, shutdown animation. I am on Embryo 6.11 and this has just started recently. Any suggestions?
If I had to guess I would say your usb port is dirty and contacts are being jumped.
Either that or the chargers you're using are no good.

Not at the moment, however when I get home in a couple of days I will try that again. Thanks.
Stock charger works fine. Aftermarket unit appears to be the culprit. Even the wife's Blackberry stock and car charger (AT+T) work OK.

Bricked Hardware issue?

Today I booted up my tf101 and the screen stayed black then flickered blue lines across the top. I tried hard reset, no dice, tried to boot into twrp (I was running katkiss 4.4 fine for weeks), and the screen flickered blurry images, nothing. Tried to push stock software with easy flasher, looks like it works, but same issue when I turn the tablet back on. Weird thing is my pc still sees my tablet and ext sd files. Anyone have any ideas? My son is not a happy camper at the moment.

Is there a chance it has been knocked or dropped ?
The display cable has a habit of coming lose pretty easily if they receive a bump but are fairly simple to fix if you don't mind opening it
Have a look at the links in this thread to check that cable

I think I just used a normal pozzy screwdriver with mine, get one the right size with a little extra pressure and they turn ok - its only the first 2 screws near the charging port that are Torx, the rest inside are all tiny phillips

Great :good:

Sounds like a loose part inside?

Whenever I hold my phone upright and tap toward the top of the screen (even very lightly), the phone makes a weird clicking sound coming from inside. It sounds to me like the small vibrating spinning part that makes the phone vibrate. I don't know if it's just my model of the device of if this is normal but it's very annoying and noticeable. Also, if I shake the phone even a little I can hear the clicky sound. Not sure if I should take it back and replace it but I wanted to see if anyone else had this problem first?
I have this. Just notice it now. Can hear it from shaking the top of the phone back and forth

Honestly guys, this sound has always been in HTC and Samsung devices that I've had, and to be honest I didn't hear it in my S4,ehich was Prolly the first device in a while where I wouldn't hear a rattle. Someone mentioned a long time ago that's its the part for the vibration/haptic but I don't see how that could be. But yes, I hear it too, and have no clue what the hell it is lol

Like I said, any time I even lightly tap the top area of the phone it makes that sound. I wouldn't mind personally if it's just when I shake the phone.

Charging paused temperature too high

Okay I've seen people already posting about these issues, but nothing ever seems to be figured out. Either the thread dies, or the person swapped it out. Well I'm not able to do that. So here we go.
I spent $20 on an I727 Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. The phone did not come with anything, but I have an S4 charger, and a Note 3 charger. So I figured wth I'll be fine in that department.
Anyway. The phone will not charge. It says "Charging paused temperature too high". If the phone is off, and I try to charge it, it shows a caution sign next to the battery.
When I got it, it was running some version of ICS. I flashed JB, but the problem is still there. Needless to say the cache partition has been wiped, and I have done a couple factory resets. If I'm not mistaken, these guys shipped with gingerbread. So if someone thinks that will help, I'll try it, but I don't want to use that old system.
So I looked into other fixes. I saw that a possibility is the charging ic. Is that located in the usb part, or the actual mainboard? I'm not good with soldering so I may be out $20 if that's the case.
So what do you guys think?
Also gonna add this. Phone was not In use for around two hours. I feel like that is waaaay too hot.

For comparison, here's my note 3 battery info. Running much cooler, and been in use muuuuuch longer.

I wish someone had some input. anything, guys.
I called Samsung, and the device is out of warranty. So the repair cost is $70, in case anyone wants to take this route. I do not. They couldn't tell me what was wrong.

Thanks. I ordered one last night off Ebay (all the Amazon ones were in China). It's supposed to be here in 2 days.
Have you tried to charge it by using usb cable connected to a computer? I think it could be charger problem, both chargers for s4 and note 3 have higher output current。Try a different charger with lower output current eg 1A.

The phone itself will limit the charging current, unless overriden via custom kernel, and since he's flashed a different rom I'd have to rule that out. Hopefully it's just a bad battery as that would be the cheapest fix...

I have tried using my desktop's usb port. Same thing. The only way I can get this thing to partially charge is by wrapping it in a cold pack. It gets that hot. Obviously I leave the battery out now for fear of a fire. Should have my replacement battery on Thursday.
Let me just add this really quick; just from the little bit that I have used this little guy, I think I may actually like it more than my note 3 (AT&T). It's just so easy to customize. With the Note 3, I'm so limited in what I can do.
Got the battery today. The problem still exists. What's next?

just a suggestion
1. open the phone as best as you can (remove battery and sim, memory cards)
2. use a q tip and rubbing alcohol and wipe everything you see, do it a few times
3. wait for 5 minutes, put phone back together
4. see if it works if not try step 5
5. remove all items again and put phone into 2 freezer (sandwich bags). I would suggest leave in there for 2 hours
6. remove from freezer and let sit for 30-60 minutes at room temp to warm up
now try charging
if that fails you can go extreme and freeze the phone remove and try charging it right away
let us know what happens
it was probably water damaged and shorted some of the circuits inside
Will try that out tomorrow. Thanks for the advice. I will let you know how it goes.

Still planning on trying today, but life is getting in the way. I'll pull the mainboard and usb port completely, and rub em down. The screen is fine, so I see no reason to subject it to anything.
Edit: I also got a hold of a local repair shop, and all the guy said was "Hi, honestly it's not worth fixing, you are better off buying a new phone. since the value of S2s is pretty low." He obviously doesn't get that this is not my main driver, and I am doing this for the sake of knowledge and fun.
Okay. I did the alcohol thing, which made it able to charge while powered off. It used to not even do that. It's in the freezer now.
