No human needed - launches app all be itself - Onetouch Idol 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Idol is sitting on the table next to me, sleeping - black screen, hasn't been touched in at least an hour. All of a sudden it starts playing music. I know it isn't a call cause I don't have a sim card in it yet. So I turn it on and find it has started an app -Catistry (Amazon App store)- and is waiting for me to play.
Yes folks - this is the future of smart phones - they call the shots.

It's not just me then. I've unlocked the phone and found an app open that I didn't open before locking it. It doesn't happen too often, but I've seen it maybe 3 or 4 times in the last week.

Random Haptic Feedback then app closes?

I've noticed this since I got my Captivate - wondering if anyone know anything about it or if they are having the same issue. When I'm using an app (any app really - camera, gallery, market, Jewels, etc) - the phone will do it's mild vibration for haptic feedback and I can see what appears to be the home button blinking, then it will close the app and go right to the home screen - all this is with my hand nowhere near the home screen. Has anyone else had this happen to them?
One of the reviews I read mentioned this problem. Apparently it is a production problem for a small number units and you will need to exchange it
Interesting - thanks very much - now I can stop trying to figure it out and just take it back to AT&T for an exchange.
I just noticed the same behavior with my phone. However, this is already my second Samsung Captivate! The first one would periodically would spam the home button over and over after unlocking the phone and essentially become unusable.
Ugh guess I'll have to swap it out for a 3rd time.
RPK.Chris: do you have a link to that review?
It's in the main phonedog review but the behavior is demonstrated starting around 6 min 16 sec I think..

Looks like I'm stuck with it till at least the 25th - they don't have any replacements coming in until then at my local stores.
I've been having the same issue, it's bugged out and starting spamming the home key on 3 occasions in my first day of use (just got it this afternoon).
Had mine swapped out today... so far so good

I got mine swapped out yesterday after work - went to another local store and they had actually just got a new shipment in so they gave me one from the new batch. Interestingly it seems that not only is that issue resolved but the phone seems to be snappier than it was. It's nice to finally get to experience the phone in full!
Had the same problem with my first phone.
swapped it out on tuesday and no problems so far!

Well, having used it for awhile now, my new unit seems to have the same problem again except it spams the search button instead of home, and it happens a lot less frequently. Guess I'll have to have it swapped again.

Yes, twice. Both times have been while an app was firing up/loading and my screen turned off (because I have my screen timeout at 15 seconds). It would just freeze and not respond to anything, then the random haptic feedback (I don't even have this turned on) and I'm back at the homescreen. It appears to reboot, except without the splash screen. It does media scanning, auto update of time, and the signal comes in.

Does anyone else's Sensation crash periodically?

I did a quick search and didn't seem to find anything for 'crash'.
I've had my phone since the July 5th release date in Canada and since then it's probably crashed 6-7 times.
I can never tell what's crashing it (each time felt different).
once i specifically started noting what crashed it, one was in the middle of writing an email in the Gmail app when I hit backspace. Surely the Gmail app that came loaded with the phone isn't crashing it?
Another time I was just exiting an app via the back button and the screen turned black.
The other few times I don't recall.
Is anyone else experincing this? Is there any type of debugger or crash log for the phone? If no one else is experiencing this, it stands to reason one or two of my apps are crashing the thing.
I've got the Bell Sensation, too, and I'd have to say it's crashed about the same amount of times. Each time, I send the report to HTC. The app is called "Tell HTC", it comes up automatically in the notification bar.
One time it was the camera app that I was in when it restarted, another time I was viewing the calendar app. It's a phone that's only a few weeks old. Hopefully after the first OTA or two, the phone will be less buggy.
I came from a Motorola Atrix, and even after the updates, it would still periodically restart/crash. Boo.
This doesn't really help you, but just wanted to let you know it's not just your phone!
My phone has only the camera & screen issue, when battery is to low and I am capturing my sensation restarts. also sometimes I have some lines on screen. but my phone never crashed yet, I have it since 25 June...
Seems like it's mostly the T-Mobile and Bell variants that have the most issues.

[Q] [ROM]MiniCM7 Pro - V7x - GingerBread (2.3.5) and my screen stays black

Hello,
Sorry to post this here. I've been following a few threads about x10 mini pro custom roms for weeks now but after signing up I am not allowed to ask my question to that specific rom there. It said I should post it here first.
I am using the [ROM]MiniCM7 Pro - V7x - GingerBread (2.3.5) by paul-xxx for more than 2 weeks now and it works great, I even have a battery life of about 14 hours now instead of 6 after I stopped using launcher pro and used the standard adw.
But I have 2 serious problems.
The first is that I cannot always unlock my phone. I know I have seen this question a lot but in my case the screen just stays black. There is no slider that does not want to slide. Just a black screen. If I slide open the keyboard I see the lights go on some times. When I connect via usb I can open a shell (via putty) and every thing seems up and running. Just the display is now showing anything.
When pushing buttons and sliding the keyboard several times I sometimes get the screenback. Some times just have to wait 5 minutes or so.
Does anyone have any clue what to do about this?
I tried killing the launcher process but that did not help, it just restarts and even if it did help I do not always have the phone connected to usb.
The other question is about missing calls. I had several missed call alerts while i was sure I was next to the phone all day.
Today I saw it happening for the first time. (because I got a missed call sms and right after that a call on the land line which was the same person who called my cell)
So I called my phone (after letting it go to sleep), used top to see whats going on. I saw the process android.phone.com starting to use more cpu (but not 100%) and I even saw the screen get activated (after 10 seconds or so) but no sound and then it went to voicemail and the phone went dark again but the sms with the missed call came in right away.
Is there a solution to this or are there more people have problems with this?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Call sounds like it's under water after a couple of minutes....

Got my One yesterday, received and made calls for the first time today - each time after a couple of minutes it started to distort and sound like the other person was underwater. Once, after hanging up and phoning straight back it continued to sound 'underwatery'. Leaving it a couple of minutes between calls would clear it up before it started again.
Has anyone else had this problem? I suspect/am hoping it's a software issue, something interfering with the Phone app. I'm running stock CM11S updated to the newest version.
If it is a software issue u can report it here it it not already there

I'm more hoping that it's something I've installed that's made it happen - it seems that if I'm the only one that's having this issue then it must be something on my phone. For example, I had about three system apps I don't use greenified (obviously not the phone app!). I've undone them and restarted the phone, going to see how it goes. Shortly after first posting this I managed to go about ten minutes until I got the underwater sound, but it has still happened every single time. Thanks for your help, though - all suggestions are welcome!
On the off-chance that anybody else ever has this issue, I think I found what it was - Greenify Experimental + Donation option to do with telephony wake. I also disabled greenifying of system apps, so it could have been that but I don't think so as the phone app was not greenified. Either way I have made several phone calls, some of which have lasted 30 - 40 minutes (thanks to a touch of debit card fraud almost at my expense) and the issue seems to be resolved.

[Q] My laundry list of issues... Any Fixes?

I have a Note Edge on Sprint. Model SM-N915P on Android 5.0.1. I have performed a factory reset to attempt to troubleshoot the issues. I have also been up and down the settings.
Since the update I have been running into a boat load of problems that aren't identified through all of my searches.
1) When ever I reboot (once a day) the YouTube app always starts and is running in the background.
2) I cannot get any weather information to show on my edge panel (it did show before the update).
3) I dont know if the last 10 years of working in IT has made me an idiot, but I can not for the life of me get my phone to tell me I have a voice mail waiting. The only identifier to a new voice mail is through the visual voice mail app that I do not wish to use. Just as an FYI this is also happening on my wife's Lg G3. The old school voice mail symbol that used to appear in the upper part of the screen is a no show.
4) While using The Amazon Music Player and connected to blue tooth in my car music will just stop playing.
5)My phone does not lock consistently. I do have screen time outs and auto lock set, however, the screen does not always require a password. It is random as to which apps will be open when the phone locks or does not lock.
6) Of course battery life sucks donkey balls.
This is all I can think of for now.
I would love for CM to be available for my device, but in the mean time I will take any advice to resolve these issues.
Just factory reset and clear the cache for tow week I use Russian 5.0.1 and everything's good
