I have tried to flash apollo kernel into my samsung s2 neatrom 4.4.4 today in order to fix the FP bug of this ROM.
It is written in apollo thread that before flashing apollo kernel Im supposed to do kernel wipe by using of Gs2KernelWipe. This wipe was obsolete and I was redirected here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/cwm-twrp-util-hawkernelwipe-kernel-wipe-t3064146
I downloaded from there the file HawkernelWipe.zip and copied it into my device. Problem was that my recovery wasnt able to find that file.
I found out that it is in reality HawkernelWipe.zip.exe and I thouht that I have to first unzip it in my computer so I run that HawkernelWipe.zip.exe and the result was that my nod 32 antivirus found 15 infiltration in my comuter, my brosers were attaced and various software was installed in my computer.
I thought that XDA developers is trusted site. Why do you put malware into your files?

The Blue Download now is the correct link.
Btw with any filter on your pc you wouldn't be able to download it at all.
Never download a zip file that ends with a .exe
That is not from XDA's site, it's from the download link, Dev Host. Yes, Dev Host has become spammy. But there are 2 download buttons, and one takes you directly to the download file. The other has spam. It's not an ideal site these days, but as it does have a safe link to download from, it is permitted.
You should be able to uninstall/clean anything that was installed. It's not viruses, it's malware. Can be easily cleaned with a virus scanner or malware remover.
And as said above, be very careful ever clicking an .exe file you download from anywhere.
The blue Download Now button on Dev Host should be fine. :good:

As stated xda-developers has nothing to do with external links that you click. Xda-developers host is only that which you find under download tabs of DevDB threads. Some host sites like Dev-host have a download button that includes an installer that installs extra programs. If you are supposed to get a zip and end up with an exe beware. Go back and use the other download button. XDA cannot protect everyone from every possible issue. Instead of blaming xda, ask the OP of that thread to please switch to a less confusing host.
@Samuelgentl u can download from Dev Host by CM browser & this browser is the best for downloading from this host .
here is link
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ksmobile.cb
U should click on blue tap then its will download mate & from ur PC/Laptop u can download by using firefox browser just mate tap on blue icon then the file will downloaded completely okay..

All the files I have downloaded from the links which I have gotten from XDA developer site including Apollo kernel 7.3, HawkernelWipeV1.02 and GS2KernelWipeV2.09.zip were blocked by mozilla firefox like potential threats. Because I believe that XDA developer is trusted site I had to switch off mozilla block an also my anti-virus. Who could have anticipated that links on XDA developers site could be so dangerous. Why anybody upload his files to such malicious file hosting servers in the first place.

I had 20 different malwares in my PC from that one infected file which was supposed to be kernel wipe. I have performed full scan using nod32 antivirus and housecall antivirus. Now it seems to be at 90 percent OK except browsers in which is not possible to change homepage.

You need to use common sense and good judgment with anything you download online. Even links that members use on XDA.
And if they upload something to XDA directly, it's a safe direct download.
Members choose their download host.... XDA tries to be sure those links are safe... But Moderators can't be everywhere.... So we rely on members to report anything suspicious.
But again, common sense, good judgement, an ad blocker, pop up blocker and virus scanner are all good ideas when downloading anything on the net. But at the end of the day, we are all responsible for what we flash or install, and where we download from....at our own risk. That's how it is in this hobby. :good:
I also think the OP has got his explanation. No need to beat a dead horse.

Anyone who has played the Candy Crush saga game will know just how annoying it is when your stuck on a level and you run out of lives, especially when your skiving in the work toilet and your stuck on a level.
I'm going to show you how to edit a data file and enable as many lives and/or moves as you desire. At least this way you know it's clean and you don't have to adjust your time/calendar. @ 8/2/13 my girlfriends calendar was set to 2/5/13...she plays it alot
Does this method also allows you to connect to Facebook? Yes.
Does this method also allows you to update and buy power-ups? Yes [Read F.A.Q.]

Open the level.txt with notepad++ and look for ""scoreTargets":" followed by numbers in square brackets and edit the numbers to your liking, e.g. [1900,2100,2400] becomes [100,200,300]
DO NOT EDIT THE "numberOfColours": CODE AS THE APP WILL HANG!! I HAVE TRIED
Signing tool:
Linked at the top is a zip file containing a simple .bat file and key/keystore to sign and zipalign your apk, provided you have java and android sdk tools in your path variable.
How do you know if you have?
Open a cmd and type "java", If you see java version you have it installed and in your path variable. Do the same with "zipalign".
You dont have it??
Follow the instructions >>here<< for java and android sdk.
Instructions:
Extract the folder and drop in the apk to sign.
Open the "sign and zip.bat". Enter 1 to choose apk, then select option 2 to sign.
When finished signing you will be prompted to press any key to zipalign.
Done, install and enjoy.
DO NOT USE THIS KEY TO SIGN AND UPLOAD TO THE ANDROID MARKET AS IT IS A PUBLIC KEY!
Credits to Daneshm for some of the code i took and modified from apkmanager used in my sign and zip.bat.
Alternatively you can sign the apk with this app from the Play Store:

It happened to me earlier when i was tinkering with xml's.
Try
un-installing.
reboot
install from the play store and restore your saved data if applicable
this worked for me.
@lokenok, the power-ups must be hidden away somewhere out of sight like the smali files, which unfortunately is beyond my limited capabilities.
On a different note i think i've discovered how to increase moves for levels.

Dropped edited apk back onto my sdcard, used zipsigner from the market to sign it using auto testkey, installed the signed apk, then went to titanium backup and did a restore, and for me works like a charm, with Facebook integration. I even changed it so the levels have 100 moves vs. 20, 40, etc.

I've searched everywhere and can't find anything on the sprint SPH-P500.
Does anyone know of any guides out there? I don't want to risk bricking it with a root from another model number. Thanks for all your hard work guys.much appreciated!
Do you have your stock rom? If you do, try rom for GT-5100 but you will not have 4G capability...
And if it don't work, you go in download mode and then restore your old stock rom thank to odin!
I guess everyone has forgotten about our tablet
I've never done anything on the coding side. But if someone could give me some guidance, I'd be willing to attempt to port some of the greatness that all of the other tablets are getting.
Its a great undertaking. I do website development and have linux experience and would rater not touch rom development. I have been interested though.
As far as the gt builds, i can give that a try. I dont have 4g in my area anyways,. Ill just have to become comfortable with odin before i do anything. Thanks!
Has there been any update on this? Looked around and doesn't look like there is even a developer working on it.
I can't even find the stock firmware for the SPH-P500.05 to download. I'm about to see if a sprint store will give me the file so I can start experimenting. If someone has a link to the stock firmware for this device it would be great. Maybe I'll get my hands dirty and make a few attempts and maybe get a guide going.

I understand that CVE-2013-2094 has been ported to work (escalate to r00t) on Android devices. I don't know if this model has "performance events" turned on but, if so, could this be an opportunity to get # on our tablets?
Also, I have a way to kick off processes as system. Could that help us?

I need to subscribe to this thread. Sorry about the delay. I have been playing with the idea of flashing the GT-5100 firmware, but there is no way back to stock if things go bad. I think I'm going to be more proactive and talk with the local Sprint store to see if I can get that firmware / bin from them. The fact that the development community for this device is so dead is a bit eerie.

I can also confirm cydia impactor works and is really as easy as downloading to pc run impactor hit startband it installsnsuper su right to the root of the tablet after that I have been able to successfully install (titanium, busybox, , link2sd, rom manager) and they all have root access
I have also been able to download mobile terminal and at $ prompt put in (su) and # should show letting you know you now have root access
after that I have also been able to change the default storage to ext2 by using. pm set-install-location 2, from # prompt and using link2sd to move apps 2 extsdcard for those of you that have an 8 gigger like I do I hope this helps im still alittle new to android
Any custom roms found for this tablet? I googled and I could only find rooting method but no custom roms (e.g. kitkat) for this tablet. Can the P5100 ones be used instead? I don't need the 4G service.
cydia impactor isnt recognizing the device. usb drivers fully installed and all that... kinda weird
nevermind. it worked!!! now i just need to install recovery and find a darn ROM LoL
I just received my Sprint SPH-500, and wouldn't have known it's a nonstandard Galaxy Tab 2 variant without this thread. I rooted mine with Towelroot, so I still have a locked bootloader, but full root access. AFAIK, my flash counter hasn't been triggered.
Here;s a screen capture of my downloading screen. It shows I haven't done a custom binary download (what triggers the flash counter), and I'm not running a custom binary, as I'm running the Samsung Official binary. But it does show my system status is custom..

I should have progress to report on moving apps to my external sdcard and second partition soon.
After experimenting with Link2SD for more than a week, I gave up on it. It's just too unstable to be a daily driver. I only have the 8 GB model, and run several large data astronomy and birding apps, They left me with 800 MB free RAM on my internal SD storage, and I still had other apps to install.
Link2SD put apks, Dalvik-cache, and lib files on the second partition of my external SDCard, but lost the links a reboot or two later. It claimed to move 1.8 GB of files, but showed 14 GB of RAM used on my second partition. It lost user and system apps that were linked, unlinked, and lost, for instance, the Google Play Store Services.
I ended up using a symlinking app called Foldermount, similar to the old (unsupported) Directory Bind app. It stores data folders on my external SDCard, and symlinks them so my astronomy and birding apps think they're still stored on the internal SDCard. I've got all my apps installed, and still have nearly 3 GB internal SDCard RAM free.

This is not done through download mode or recovery, so don't worry about any button combos. The phone just needs to powered on and running the way you would normally use it.
First things first. You should begin downloading the files you'll need later on.

Begin installing the Samsung USB Drivers.
It can appear that the installer program isn't doing anything for a while so just be patient.
When the motochopper.zip file finishes downloading
right-click on it and select Extract All...
I usually just leave it at the default location and click Extract
It should finish this fairly quickly. When it does finish, open the motochopper folder in the resulting window. You can now ignore this window until you need it later.
For the sake of efficient use of time, while the drivers are being installed and motochopper.zip is being extracted, you should turn your attention to the phone itself. It needs to be prepared for being connected to your computer for the first time.
USB debugging within Developer options needs to be enabled to use this exploit. There are some that would say that if you don't know how to do this, you shouldn't be in the development forums. To them I say, "Everyone had to learn from somewhere. WHY NOT HERE??"
To enable Developer options, open Settings and click on the "More" tab, then "About device". Mine shows where Developer options will be after doing this.
Near the bottom is an entry called "Build number", click on it repeatedly (7 times) until a toast pops up telling you that developer mode is on.
Press the back softkey and click on "Developer options". If you don't see it, you didn't click the "Build number" enough times.
DO NOT CHANGE ANY ENTRIES IN THIS SECTION WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT THEY DO FIRST!!
Click on USB debugging
click OK on the "Allow USB debugging" window that pops up.
When the Samsung USB Drivers are finished installing, connect the phone to your computer using the USB cable that came with your phone. Windows Update should start looking for software for your phone immediately as indicated by the popup window that appears at the bottom-right of your screen when you have your phone connected to the computer. You can click on this window to watch it's progress, or simply wait for the next one telling you that your device is ready to use.
After you see this dialog, go back to the folder that opened when you extracted motochopper.zip and double-click on the file named run.bat
and click Run on the dialog window that pops up.
when the command line window appears, press enter to begin rooting your phone.
A dialog window will appear on your phone asking you for permission to let ADB execute commands. Click OK.
when the rooting process finishes, press enter to reboot the phone and close the command line window.

Agreed - except for "enabling Developer options and USB Debugging" which I thought might be good in the OP of the "real" thread (and frankly is not called out well in this OP), this doesn't seem to add anything.
No need to clutter the Development thread with guides, thats what General is for. I'm sure this will help someone but its still in the wrong section unless you have a kernel or rom to post.
Thread moved, post in accordance with XDA rules, thanks and enjoy the new phone.
I posted it here because this is where people trying to root their phone will look. Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. It makes the 6+ hours I spent on it all worth it, even after none of my screenshots showed for some reason.

Are you using a new or known good cable? Try re downlooading the zip.
Make sure you extracted the zip. Remove and reinstall device drivers.
Have you tried foxfi in the playstore?

Thank you for the fast response. I am using the USB that came with the phone. I have tried multiple USB ports on my computer and have gotten the Motochopper file from 3 different locations. I have downloaded the USB driver from Samsung twice and installed. I even tried 2 different computers. I am at wits end....
I wrote Foxfi to see if this phone is compatible and hope they respond shortly.
Thanks,
Fred
Fixed missing ADB connection
Wow, I seemed to have fixed the problem myself by chance. I executed the adb.exe file in the Motochopper folder as a stand alone (a few times in fact) and the next time I connected my phone I got the pop-up to accept and was able to root it! In all the posts I have read, not once has anyone mentioned this. Wow, rooted at last! Thanks!

Something that neither root guide mentions in the OP is that you might also need to disable "Verify apps via USB." It was disabled the first time I rooted, but it was enabled after I did a factory reset and rooted again. If root is failing, see if that option is checked and uncheck it if it is.
Can't attach or post a link, yet, or I'd include a an actual link to a screenshot. URL here: i.imgur.com/Ord8xxj.png

I was able to gain access to Zebra's firmware (access privileges have been revoked temporarily....I hope) downloads and am here to share it with anyone who needs it. Feel free to share the link or mirror as you see fit. It's my personal dropbox so if too much traffic happens I'll upload elsewhere. Though my upload speeds are crap as I'm stuck with DSL where I'm at, so please be patient as the files take time to get there and at the time of this post the files I already have are still uploading with about 4 hours left. Also, the files aren't organized an any way shape or form, so cross reference the version your device is on with the Zebra website to confirm which file you are supposed to use. The manual is free to download from their website. USE IT!
If Windows OS files are needed or files for the TC75 or any other Zebra firmware/reset files are needed, feel free to PM me with the file name needed and for which device. I've been given access to the entire download section so take advantage of it and turn that paperweight into something useful!!

I apologize to all the members that have emailed me trying to find out about getting firmware files for their device. I have been out of the country and unable to keep this thread updated due to job restraints. In trying to gain access it appears that Zebra has began limiting access to their firmware files so as of right now I am unable to get access to their file server and retrieve anymore than what is already in my dropbox. I will leave that link up and anyone is free to mirror these files.
I will continue my attempts to gain access to the files everyone wants but I may have to use more unconventional methods to accomplish this and may not be worth it in the end. Sorry. Keep your fingers crossed...
Or better yet shoot an email to Zebra's support department, feed em some b.s. story about you needing to reset and update the firmware on the device you have because you bought it from ebay (*wink, wink*). They may ask for device specifics like serial numbers or something but sometimes if you wait it out, the approval may get pushed through to close the support ticket. Just don't give up on the first attempt. Good luck.:fingers-crossed:

do you have the Factory Reset zip? not just the enterprise wipe?
Has anybody else had any luck with locating these files? There are so many different ones with many different names for many different models. I have the TC700H and I flashed it with one of the ZIP files from the dropbox folder, works fine except wifi will not turn on.
T70N0KXXARUEF01903.zip is the specific file I need
For those unable to download the files trough Dropbox and failing,
I have copied the files to Mega, so if you like, You can also get them from there.
I only need an email to send the link to?
Or if anyone knows how to make an Public folder there, Please let me know.

Looking at the 10 points on the back top left most is negative, two over to the right is positive. These ten points are also perfectly spaced for headers if your handy at soldering. Or can cut the end of a usb cable. Just be careful not to touch other points as bad things can happen.

Hi, i need the T700HKXXXREENxyyzz.zip for an enterprise reset for my tc700h and my email is [email protected] if you could send me the link, that would be awesome
TC75
oI've reset some mc40s, tc70s and 51s without problems by placing said files onto the sd card. I also gained root on them except for tc51, i haven't tried yet.
I have now a tc75 that is unable to mount the external sd card in order to reset. It sees the storage is there in recovery but is not mounted. This is what is says in the manual: : "There is a Mandatory patch (T75NOLxxxxxxxxxxxx.zip) to be applied along with this OS which is required to update any package from an External SD card from MDM
only."
How to get around this? The only way to do this is through usb connection and placing the files onto the internal storage? I dont have a cable or cradle. And for everyone here who is also without this expensive usb cable, I think its plausible to make one since these units have the pinout connections right on the exterior, if anyone wants to figure it out, shouldn't be hard. They are locking down external storage access making it harder if you dont have a cable.

Factory cable might be the same as the Motorola factory cable. Without looking it up, I think the the 5v line is split into two going to the original pin and either the green or yellow wire pin with a 1k ohm resistor (don't quote me on that). Again I'm just assuming it would be like Motorola's since i thought they bought out Zebra/Symbol. Hence the restructured firmware support.

I have an old Alcatel Pixi 4 with Android 6.0 from which I'd like to back up my files. I've already copied all files from the internal storage except those inside the "Downloads" folder, which actually appears to be an app rather than a folder...and it's an utter mess: One can only open downloaded files, but there are absolutely no options to copy, move, rename or even delete anything, so this toxic app basically acts as a trap accumulating any file that has ever been downloaded while completely shutting the owner out.
How can I extract my downloaded files?
Note: The device is not rooted, but I have it hooked up with ADB.

Well, if it shows as a downloads app, do you have a downloads app on your phone? If so, it should be able to open/access your files.
If you don't have a downloads app, see if you can install one.
Have you checked permissions of your explorer app to make sure it has the permissions it needs?
Have you checked your device settings to make sure your explorer app is allowed proper access? I seem to remember some specific settings that needed to be enabled/allow in Marshmallow, it has been a few years so I can't remember the specifics, but I remember having a series of settings that I had to setup every time I flashed a new ROM to make my 3rd party file manager work the way I needed it.

well then I assume that the spy app will do more than locking you out of downloads folder as it is malicious, the hacker probably has much ambition, probably will sell my bank and credit card number on the dark web for a few spare kidneys? lol then if I were the OP I will disconnect it from any sort of internet and soak it in 99.95% military breaking bad grade hydrofloric acid, put it into a nuclear waste lead lined box for retired nukes, and hide myself in a suitcase in the cargo of a plane to north pole (just a nonsense joke but you get the idea)

Anyway...as you see, it's not always possible to completely ignore the political dimension when discussing INFOSEC. But to get back on topic: I think the information from Droidriven and OldNoobOne are complementary and spot-on:
1.) The "stock" Android version on the Alcatel PIXI 4 appears to come with malware disguised as a File Manager (mie-alcatel.support, 50 million installs):
{

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The actual, built-in file manager is buried inside the settings which, in view of the "bundled" malicious File Manager app, points towards Alcatel/Nokia as culprits.
2.) Question: What do I do with this phone? Is there any way to reliably remove all spyware or would you suggest to just ditch this device? Would rooting and doing
Code:
adb shell pm uninstall
solve the issue?

Anyway, back to topic!
Question: Considering all the bundled malware on this device, can the files be accessed at all? Do I need to root it? Is it possible to somehow "sanitize" it? And is it even safe to connect it via USB to e.g. my laptop or server?
Stay on the line.....
